1. What gender are you?
8
The purpose of this graph is
to show a distinct difference
between genders. This will
help whilst creating my
magazine, as it will allow me
to discretely orientate my
inside information around
the most popular gender.

The purpose of this graph is to
show the most popular age
group that read/take an
interest in music magazines.
This is useful as it allows me to
base the magazine around a
specific age group, which will
hopefully increase its
popularity and success.

The purpose of this
graph is to show how
long the average survey
taker spends listening to
music per day and this is
an appropriate step as it
will help me when
deciding what and how
much information needs
to be included. As if the
largest amount of people
listened to only up to 1
hour then an excessive
amount of bands would
be irrelevant as readers
probably would lack
interest.
4. Knowing how people listen to music
allows me to include appropriate
information depending on how they
enjoy their music. For example, if most
people use YouTube, it would be
pointless to include a free iTunes
voucher.
How do you tend to listen to music?
iTunes
Spotify
YouTube
Bearshare
SoundCloud
5. This is one of the most important
questions as this is essentially the
structure of my entire magazine. Due
to indie/alternative being the most
popular genre, my magazine will be
based solely on this genre.
What music genres do you enjoy most?
Pop
R&B
Country
Classical
Indie/Alternative
Rap

Knowing whether or not people read music magazines is appropriate as it proves that there is a reason to create one.
The fact that more people read magazines than people that don’t means that I will have to make an effort to make my
magazine more appealing, in the hope of gaining new readers.

Knowing how often people read music magazines allows me to choose an appropriate release time. For example, it was be
pointless and a waste of all costs and effort to release a magazine weekly if the majority of readers are more likely to
purchase monthly.
8. Knowing the most popular type of
magazine allows me to do my magazine
based lightly around it. The results from
the most popular genre aren’t reflected
in this chart and there is therefore a
clash, meaning I will be unable to please
both popular choices.
What music magazines do you read most

The purpose of knowing this
means I am able to please my
readers by including what they
want to see instead of things that
are not interested in. Since most
people prefer photography based
magazines, it would make more
sense to have a heavily influenced
photography magazine with small
amounts of information.

Knowing peoples average spending budget allows me to get an appropriate price to sell my magazine at. If it was to be sold too cheaply then
the magazine would lose money and a profit wouldn’t be made, whereas if the magazine is too expensive then people would either refuse to
buy/would be unable to afford the magazine meaning money wouldn’t be made either way.
