How often do you buy a music magazine?
Series 1
Around 30 people where asked about how often they
buy a music magazine. The results were gathered and
recorded onto a bar chart. This graph shows the
analysis of the results retained and it shows that more
people (approx. 15) never brought music magazines
with their own money, this maybe because they are
not interested in such things or maybe they prefer to
access the magazine using different resources such as
the internet. However, about 8 people accepted the
fact that they do but magazines quite often but the
graph shows evidence that the majority never brought
magazines, maybe because they find their own way of
accessing the magazine faster, easier and cheaper (i.e.
using online sites of the magazine) rather than carrying
around a paper copy. In conclusion the results show
many people of todays generation do not acquire
buying themselves a paper copy of the magazine.

Which one of the following is your favourite music artist?
Series 1
The results were analysed for T.A’s favourite music
artist and when recorded on to a graph it was evident
that Justin Bieber was voted the most popular. Justin
Bieber is one of the youngest Canadian singer and
songwriter who is very successful in the music industry
and very popular amongst the music lovers of todays
generation, especially the ladies. Therefore, this maybe
the reason why Justin Bieber was seen to be elected
the most, as he produces songs that attract the
attention of the target audience. He aims to focus the
base of his songs on topics such as love, romance and
break ups. Not only this, Justin may also be seen as an
aspiring role model to many his fans, as donates a very
high amount of money that he earns to those who are
less fortunate. Chris Brown and Beyoncé, were also
rated fairly high which could therefore be to the same
reasons as to why Justin Bieber was the most popular.
However, the graph shows that such artists like Tyga,
Jeremih and John Legend have been voted very low or
not at all.

signed album Free holiday ticket Backstage concert pass Money
If you were to receive a free gift from the magazine what
would you like?
Column3
The graph shows that more people preferred to receive
money as a free gift from the magazine over the other
options that were asked. This maybe due to the fact that no
human being would reject the idea of receiving free money
without doing anything. Also, the target audience may
believe that with the money given to them through the
magazine or even by adding a little more, they would be able
to obtain any other of the options that was offered them.
For example, one can buy a holiday ticket to the destination
of their choice with the prize money. Also, it was seen that
getting a signed album and a backstage concert pass was
more popular than the free holiday ticket, this maybe
because these choices are a once in a lifetime opportunity
for many people. This is because, buying a signed magazine
or a backstage pass can be very expensive, therefore an
average paid man is less likely to purchase one of these on a
regular basis.

How often do you attend a gig of your favourite music
artist?
Series 1
From the graphs it is clear that 12 out of 30 people attend a gig
of their favourite music artist 1-3 times a year. This maybe
because the target audience wants to experience the real music
of the artist in person rather than listening to it through
headphones or speakers. However, there are many people who
never attend a concert of their favourite singer due to many
reasons such as either parental permissions or it could even be
financial issues. However, the overall results show that an
average percent of todays generation go to concerts with either
their friends or family, once in a while in order to experience the
reality behind the lyrics of the music.

What type of magazine interests you the most?
Series 1
Many successful magazine publications today debate on what
articles to include in their magazines in order to fulfil the
preference and needs of the target audience. From the
questionnaire I conducted it was clear that many people of
todays population preferred music magazines gave them
knowledge on everything about music, artists and about what’s
currently happening in the music industry. The readers may
find music magazines entertaining as a vast majority of today’s
population, especially youngsters spend most of their time
downloading and listening to the latest tracks released by their
favoured artists. However, results show that magazines that
included gossip and celebrity rumours interested many people
as well. This maybe because it can be seen as a source of
entertainment and helps release the stress of everyday life for
many readers, as such articles can be funny and enjoyable to
read. It also lets the target audience know what exactly
happens in the industry, especially amongst the well known
celebrities.

Price Colour Front cover Free gifts and competitions
In a magazine what influences you the most for you to buy it?
Series 1
There are several aspects that influence the target audience to
purchase a magazine. The graph shows that the main
characteristic of a magazine that persuades the target
audience to buy it is the front cover. This maybe because the
front cover is the centre of attention and it’s the main feature
of the magazine that will direct the audiences attention.
Especially, if a readers favourite artist is featuring as the main
image they would have the temptation to buy the magazine
and gain more knowledge about the artist than they already
know. The main image also provides the T.A with a brief
understanding on who the magazine is mainly about and what
to surely expect from future articles within the same edition.
However, free gifts and competitions were seen to be rated the
lowest as many people class this as pointless and the belief
that the gift they may receive is of cheap quality. Also, it is
visible that the price of the magazine does not have much
importance as long as it is within a decent price range. Colour
is also another feature that is taken into consideration as the
use of colour on a magazine can easily attract the attention of
the target audience ; not too bright nor dark.
In a magazine what influences you the most to buy it?
8. What colour? What’s the price your looking for?
When analysing the questionnaire many people chose a variety of colour schemes that they would prefer to be on a
magazine. However, the most popular colour combination to be voted amongst the audience was either red and
black or red or white. They all preferred the magazine to have colours that were not too bright nor dark. This maybe
because the use of consistent bright colour may grab the attention of the target audience quickly, but however some
may find it irritating or harder to read and understand the text. Also, if just dark colours were to be used they would
not be effective enough nor stand out amongst the crowd, as the target audience may find it boring and will not be
influenced enough to purchase the product. Therefore, the results show that the use of ‘red and black’ or ‘red and
white’ are more appealing to the audience and provides the magazine with a professional look as well as making it
appealing in the market. This maybe because these colours are not too bright nor too dark, just perfect enough to
suit the readers preference. The price preferences also varied amongst the crowd, but however it allowed me to
come to a conclusion of pricing my magazine for £3.00 as many people said they wouldn’t mind spending around
£1.00 - £2.50 for low quality magazines and £2.50 - £4 for top quality magazines. After analysing these results it gave
me a brief understanding on what colours to use on my magazine and how much it should be sold for, in order to
meet the needs and likeness of my target audience.
