What do you want from a regional magazine??
1. What do you want from a Regional
Magazine?
To promote my first survey I decided to use my personal public twitter account in
order to promote it. I had 10 responses. I have a small following on twitter however
on the positive I have a wide range of people who follow me.
2. I received a very mixed response for how often people read
magazines. The majority vote was often however it was not
the overall majority. This tells me that my magazine will be
hitting a market where there are people who rarely pick up
a magazine. My aim is to make sure that they pick up my
magazine.
3. This response tells me that my magazine is
hitting a market where regional magazines are
not in high demand. This means I should be
aiming my magazine at people who have a
slight interest in reading about their local area.
4. This response really interests me. I find it weird how
more people are interested in reading about other areas
than their own. For example, I find the New York
hardcore scene really interesting, however probably
wouldn’t actively seek to read about my own region. All
this means in my opinion is that I need to make my
magazine interesting in order for people to want it.
5. Luckily for me music was a clear winner in what people
enjoy reading about. This is lucky because its the topic
I most wanted to make a magazine about, I feel that I
have good knowledge on music therefore will be most
set to create a magazine on a genre.
6. I think that it is helpful to know that people who
are interested in specific topics, will buy
magazines on those topics. Its helpful because it
tells me that I have a target audience already
there before setting out what I am going to create.
7. Personally, I do think it important for people to learn
about their local area as it gives them a better
understanding of where they live. However, I
understand why people wouldn't care. The results of
this question tell me that people understand it is
something that thy should do.
8. A potentially worrying result to the question. A purchase
of a regional magazine would instantly result in a yes on
this question, this tells me that few people read regional
magazines.
9. This response tells me that I should not be aiming my
magazine at purely locals and that the genre of my
magazine is very important on who my magazine should be
aimed at, due t people not really being interested in a
magazine purely based on region alone.
10. A split result is not always helpful however, I feel that in
this case the answer is telling me that I have a bit of
freedom on the formality of my magazine and that
whatever I decide, a section of my target audience will
enjoy the formality.
11. Like the previous response, it is very split. This tells me
that I have a lot of freedom in who I should be aiming my
magazine towards. This is because my survey suggests
that some people will read a magazine regardless of the
target audience, I am presuming for these people it
actually comes down to the genre instead.
