Foot protection
• must be worn at all times on site or in a working environment
• steel toecaps prevent injuries to the toes on site.

Hand protection
• To protect the hands from oxidation particles found in aluminium.
• To guard against catching Weil’s disease. This can be spread by rats
contaminating the scaffolding.

• To clearly identify a person working on any scaffolding to help
prevent accidents.
High visibility clothing

• To protect against injury caused by falling objects or banging your
head against scaffolding. On most sites they will be worn at all
times except in safe areas.

Overalls (boiler suit)
• Not an essential piece of PPE that is required when erecting
scaffolding, but it can be good working practice to do so.

• Goggles are not required for erecting scaffold but if there is
any risk of eye damage you should not take any chances.

• You may need to erect scaffold near noisy machinery or noisy
area.
