2. Introduction
Why does the film industry spend so much time and money test screening films?
- Movie trailer are key to creating buzz and get the film known.
- The market research in the industry is getting better making the data more valuable.
- Film companies ensure that screenings involve a wide range of people in order to assess the
correct demographic for the film
Target Audience Profile
- 13-23 year olds skewed more towards female.
- Big on social media
- Large proportion of audience will be able to relate to some aspects of the
film.
- Quite frequent cinema-goers
3. Pitch Presentation Feedback
The pitch presentation was the first opportunity to
get feedback on our ideas. Feedback Summary:
- How do we plan to film with two girls with
only one girl in our group?
- Poster suggestion of using a web page /
social media account
- Poster suggestion of integrating the theme of
online popularity through the use of poster
graphics (eg. subscriber count)
- Film suggestions - Mean girls, Cyberbully,
Nerve (opening)
We got our
feedback
from the
class after
presenting it
to them.
4. Pitch Presentation Response
- How do we plan to film with two girls with only one girl in our group?
As a group we had two options of either replacing one of the females with a male
character and therefore breaking the stereotype or to find someone else outside
our group to play the role.
Regarding the suggestions of movie, we watched them and took into
consideration their ideas and themes.
5. Rough Cut Screening Feedback
At the stage of our rough cut screening our teaser trailer was 1:50 minutes with
little details including no text graphics, no title and little effects.
From our feedback, we found that the audience knew our genre and the teaser
trailer was conventional of the teen drama genre. The audience could also could
clearly understand the narrative and knew our unique selling points
Strengths:
- Good editing
- Interesting storyline / narrative
- Like the vlogging aspect
Improvements:
- Sound transitions / bridges
- Get a title
- Shorten it down
For our rough cut screening, we received our feedback from the class feedback sheets after screening
it to the class.

8. Feedback Response: Poster
These are the changes we made from our rough cut screening to the final product. As seen we took into
account all our feedback and improved on our product
9. Feedback Response: Magazine
This is a comparison
showing the our magazine at
the rough cut screening
stage and the final product. It
shows the changes we made
from the feedback.
10. Feedback: Teaser Trailer Final Product
This is the feedback we got from the youtube comments section of our video:
11. Feedback: teaser trailer Final product
The feedback from our teaser trailer was mostly positive pointing out parts that the viewer enjoyed or
thought was good. This suggests that our teaser trailer was good and people enjoyed it. These are
some of the main points we got from our teaser trailer:
- Music worked well, especially at the end
- Good use of editing
- Good branding
I think that the feedback that we received was useful. This is because it gave us ideas and Inspiration. However, I think that
to improve the feedback we got, we could have received the feedback slightly later on. This is because a lot of the
suggestions we had were conventions that we were already aware of but hadn’t got around to adding in yet such as adding
a title. By getting the feedback later, it would have given us the opportunity to be closer to finishing the products and
therefore the feedback would be more suggestions on improvements rather than aspects that we needed to add in.
