The document summarizes feedback received from the target audience of 15-24 year olds on marketing materials created for a film project. Feedback was gathered through YouTube comments, questionnaires, and rating scales from peers within the target demographic. Based on this feedback, changes were made such as adding a voiceover to the teaser trailer and altering the magazine cover design. The feedback process helped the group understand the likes and dislikes of the audience and improve their promotional products. For future projects, the group learned they need to better manage their time to collect more audience feedback.
2. Target Audience Research
Legend Skyfall Black Mass
Legend’, ‘Skyfall’ and ‘Black Mass’ are all similar films to ours because of the genre, which means that their target audiences are going
to be similar to ours. The common trend on all three is that the male percentage of viewers is considerably higher than female, for
instance the male % for Legend is 71% compared to the 29% of female viewers. However our female audience may be greater on ours
compared to some of the others as the lead of our film is a woman, this means women are more likely to be able to relate to the lead
character and are ultimately more likely to watch the film. Also one of the most common age audiences is 15-24, which shows that this
is common for the action - crime genre. The most common class % in all three films is AB which is “Higher & intermediate managerial,
administrative, professional occupations”. These pre existing target audience’s have helped us to develop our films target audience as
being aimed at both male and female, the most common classes as AB and C1 and age groups of 15-24.
3. Our Target Audience
We have aimed our film at the younger
generations of 15-24. Whilst mainly focusing on
a female audience due to our two female
protagonists. We decided to aim it at 15-24 year
olds after completing our research on other
similar films and their target audiences. I believe
it is the action we have included and narrative
which will attract the younger audiences.
4. Feedback
We asked our peers at various stages on feedback for our work throughout the whole task. The reason we
did so was because we knew that it would benefit us incredibly when trying to understand the audience.
We received this feedback through youtube comments, questionnaires and rating scales. You are able to
view some of this feedback through some of my past posts in our research - the majority was very positive.
Considering that our feedback was mostly coming from 15-24 year olds we found this to be a great
advantage as we were receiving opinions from the people who were very much included in our target
audience. This made our tasks a lot easier once there was a knowledge developed of the likes and dislikes
of the audience. Some changes we made to our work because of this feedback would include, the change
of our magazine cover, the additional voiceover in our teaser trailer, and some additional titles. So as you
can see we took on every word that was said about our work and found a way of improving from the
constructive criticism.
5. Final Audience Feedback
This is a great example of some feedback that we received from one of our peers as you can see
that he mentions possibly adding a voiceover as we did not have this when it was reviewed. We
totally agreed with this comment and decided it was the right decision to add one due to our lack
of non-diegetic sound previously. From this we can see that all promotional products linked very
well and are not too similar to each other, which is what we were trying to stay away from to
ensure they were all holding originality.
This feedback has been extremely successful throughout our whole project, and shows the
success of our marketing campaign, which I feel is due to our accessibility of being able to
change and alter our products very quickly as a group. If i were to change anything, I would have
liked to be able to receive some more feedback on our new poster from much more people,
however we soon realised that we were running out of time to do this. However, now for our
other projects in the future we have learnt that we need to manage our time slightly better to
ensure we are able to do everything that is wanted.
