2. The main actors names have
included at the top of the screen so
that the audience are attracted to
the poster as people tend to look at
who is starring in a movie as they
may enjoy that persons work. These
names are also included in the trailer
as they are the two main characters
of the movie.
The main image adds to the synergy of the
whole production tasks and links the poster
with the magazine as they both include
similar images of the main character
(Harry). The positioning of the picture in the
middle of the frame allows for full
engagement as they are one of the first
features of the magazine that the audience
see. For this instance, they must contain
mise en scene which reflects that of the
crime genre. In mine this is achieved
through the professional look obtained
through using suits and the use of hand
gun which shows their violent side and tells
the audience what kind of film this will be.
The production companies at the
bottom of the page tell the
audience who is behind creating
the film and further allows the to
make a judgement on whether
they want to see the film. This is
also backed up by the credits at
the bottom which show the
individual people who created the
film and may appeal to them
more as they might have enjoyed
their previous work.
The reviews further add to the
effectiveness of the poster as
they give other peoples opinion
on the film who are credible.
The 5 and 4 stars give the
audience an impression to the
audience that the movie is
worth their money and time.
The background of the image also adds to the
synergy of the production tasks as it is used on
both the poster and the magazine cover. However,
here it has a yellow/orange tinge to it which helps
create a colour scheme for the poster and film
allowing the audience to clearly recognize it from
other posters.
3. FILM POSTER ANALYSIS
• My film poster is still a simple one for the crime genre compared to other
professional posters, however, I believe that it is still effective in attracting an
audience and being linked with the crime genre. I have done this through the use of
mise en scene in the main images where they are wearing professional and
sophisticated suits to show that they are wealthy and respected in their line of work.
It is essential that the images represent the crime genre as they are one of the first
things in the poster that your eyes are attracted to.
4. The masthead shows a well known
magazine companies name “Empire”.
However, here the colour has changed
from the usual red to gradient of orange
to black to further add to the colour
scheme of the film. This also attracts the
audiences attention as it stands out from
the other magazines and allows the
audience to recognize the film as it has a
distinct colour.
Issue number and date.

An incentive to further
increase the audiences
attraction to the magazine
as they know that it will
include a heavy amount of
content from Martin
Scorsese.
Here the main image consists of main
character (Harry) and is found in the
centre of the page. This creates a feeling
that he is the main focus and will also
include largely in the magazine. His stern
look and the addition of the gun adds to
the crime element of the image as we are
sure that he is about to do something that
is not totally legal.
The tag line has been
implemented underneath the
main cover line and tells the
readers a small piece of
information about the film.
A further incentive for the
audience to buy the magazine
as they are not only getting
general information but they are
getting an exclusive look into
other films as well.
5. MAGAZINE COVER ANALYSIS
• The magazine cover is very effective in combining with the film poster as it
continues with the idea of the mobster using similar images which help emphasise
the presence of the crime genre in the film.
