2. Firstly to create an idea for my product I watched several
video’s consisting of both the original Justice-D.A.N.C.E
, professional video’s and other amateur A level video’s. From
these video’s I learned that typical music videos always have
one or more storyline throughout. I took note of this and came
up with the storyline of a dancing busker who busks on the
streets of Manchester to make money. I decided to create my
moving image product to appeal to a target audience of 13- 25
years old.

3. In order to follow some of the conventions used in the
original music video I took the idea of the black and white
footage and used it in my own work. I also liked the way the
lyrics had been written out behind the performer using
green screen technology, an effect I saw in both amateur
and professional videos and therefore decided to use.

4. As my filming took place at night, the lighting
used was artificial, mainly coming from street
lamps, building lights and car headlights. I feel
this created a more synthetic look and worked
well once the footage was changed to black
and white as the lights stood out more. This
kind of lighting challenges the conventions of
real music videos as most professional videos
use purpose built artificial lighting. This gives
them more flexibility in choosing where they
want there lighting to be positioned and how
they want it to look.
Unfortunately I did not have access to these
kinds of equipment, but I feel I made the most
out of the facilities that I did have access to
and the lighting they provided me with.
