Evaluation q1 p2
1. The street lamps shown here in the skate park
give a spotlight effect directed onto our
performer. Along with her positioning the
lights make her stand out from the other
skaters.
In the train station the lights are significantly brighter.
Because of this and the black and white lighting the
tram stands out considerably more making it the
main focus of the camera.
Once the footage is speeded up the bright
lights from the passing cars merge together.
This also expresses the speed of the cars as
well as creating an interesting and artistic
effect.
2. I believed making our narrative clear was paramount as it is
important the viewer understands the story clearly. I used severely
camera techniques including cut edits and tracking in both Close
up, Long shot and Mid shot to establish how my character was
walking down the street. I also used fading techniques to
compliment the song e.g. when the tuning of the radio is heard the
image distorts and fades to black and again when the door is heard
shutting on the screen fades to black again to give the viewer a
visualised image of the sound they are hearing
Different angle shots demonstrating walking Image Distort
3. Although I only had one storyline thought the video I used the cut edit
technique to move from one location to another which is a convention
regularly used in music videos. This helped me to make my video more
interesting for the viewer and show the different technologies that I had used
e.g. green screen technology.
I edited some individual clips by shortening, cutting, reversing and then
putting them back together. This created an effect where my character would
perform a dance move one way and it be instantly shown in reverse straight
afterwards.
4. I also merged a clip from my own footage and a clip from the green
screen footage, one of which was in colour and one that was in black
and white to create a mix of two moving images on the same screen. I
sped up my footage to make it more interesting and flow better with
the music as D.A.N.C.E is an up tempo track . This conforms with
almost all music video conventions as the tempo of the song
determines the speed of the video. If the song is slow the video is more
likely to have a slower feel to it and the style of the video is
determined by the storyline of the song (Ellie GouldingYour Song) and
vice versa (Angel - Go In, Go Hard ft. Wretch 32 )
