2. I put the question ‘What type of social media
are you involved in?’ to narrow down to type
of social media used by readers. Most
magazines include logos of their social media
sites to promote that they are advanced in the
age of technology. 100% of the people that
answered stated that they used the site
Facebook, this gives an indication that by
adding the Facebook symbol it will promote
the magazine as more modern and technology
prone. Instagram was another popular site
with 90.91% of the people saying they use it.
On the other hand the site Myspace got 0%
meaning nobody who answered used this
site, therefor I would not include Myspace
within my magazine.
3. I asked this question ‘What genre of music
do you prefer?’ to narrow down what type
of indie music is preferred. I didn’t use the
most obvious genres like pop, hip-hop
etc, but as I knew I wanted my magazine to
be of an Indie genre I tried to specify the
indie genre by putting options like Indie
Pop, Indie Rock and Folk Rock. 72.73% of
the people who answered said they
preferred Indie Pop this gives me a definite
answer as to what type of Indie music
people prefer and as to what to base my
magazine on.
4. I asked the question ‘How much are you
willing to pay for a music magazine?’ to
give me an understanding on what type
of price range to put my magazine the
higher percentage of 45.45% of the
people that answered stated that they’d
pay £2.00 - £3.00 for a magazine and 0%
said they would pay over £3.00 meaning
I would not price it over the range of
£3.00. I will price my magazine at £2.00
because even though the higher
percentage was for the £2.00 - £3.00 the
rest of the percentages were for the
prices lower than that.
5. I asked the question ‘Would you prefer a male
or a female on the front cover of a
magazine?’ to define what viewers what on a
front cover 72.73% said that they would prefer
if there was a woman on the front cover and
27.27% said they’d prefer a male. These
answers allow me to make the decision that
there should be a female subject on the front
cover.
Another question I asked was ‘Would you buy
a magazine with a information packed cover
or a simplistic, clean cut cover?’ to try and
determine whether viewers prefer more
information packed covers or more simplistic,
sophisticated cover. 72.73% said that they’d
prefer a simplistic, clean cut cover .
