The Importance Of Football In The World
By the second half of the Nineteenth Century, the first club and sports federation was established ("football history", 2013). The enthusiasm for
football was quickly contagious from Great Britain to other countries, thanks to the population and urbanization process resulted from the Industrial
Revolution (Spampinato, 2004). There was an urgent need to build a facility could welcome a high number of spectators and fans (Santo, & Mildner,
2010), formed the awareness of sports importance to individuals and community, to produce a new age of stadia at five sequential steps of progression.
2–2–1First–step stadia 1872–1950 (Hosting): The main purpose of stadium's design was hosting spectators as possible as it could be, in an age when

In order to deal with this issue, as well as stadia were equipped to welcome television broadcasting systems; stadia were equipped with facilities to
attract a wide range of fans (Spampinato, 2004). Seats had better view angles, stands became roofed, and a higher number of toilet facilities, and
beverage outlets in the stands were provided. That was the start of the concept of fan zones (Fig.8), especially by 1970's, when the market saw the
appearance of the specialized and dedicated sports architecture practice (Santo, & Mildner, 2010), which produced new image of fans facilities with
amenities (greater revenue, more luxury suites, and higher quality finishes) (Fig.9). Moreover, there were artificial lighting installations to ensure night
broadcasting. A common element of that age, the stadia concept was an introverted element in the city, although their inner facilities were a
comfortable inside yet anonymous outside, missing both indoor and outdoor safety (Spampinato, 2004).
2–2–3Third–step stadia 1990–1995 (commerce): At the end of The Eighties, more fans resulted in more accidents and violent situations (Belden, 2012),
in 1990 there were new safety measurements to be adopted in the UK stadia, followed by many nations later. At this step; the stadium was larger, safer,
and had more permanent spaces for different activities (Spampinato, 2004). Consequently, these facilities were

Mark Halsey
The intention of this piece is to inform the reader of the recent happenings involving Mark Halsey and how his situation raises the bigger question of
the introduction of video assistant referees in top flight football. Targeted for football fans who follow high level football.
In the past couple of days, the footballing world has been rocked by the claims of Mark Halsey, an ex–English Premier League referee. He claims to
have been told to make specific decisions about incidents which have occurred during a match. If his statement has any shred of truth, the footballing
world has a very scary problem on their hands. On September 2nd, in reply to a tweet Mark Halsey admitted to having seen an incident and been told
by an official of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other sports such as rugby and tennis use different types of video assistance in their respective sports to help out the officials. There is only so
much a human eye can see and when an official is tired or has an obstructed view, decisions can be made incorrectly. This is when video referees
can come in and help. The could allow for a replay to show them what the best decision to be made is. So many forms of VA can be used, perhaps
the captains of each team get a limited amount of challenges to the referee's decision, or the referee can choose when to look at the video. Set rules
like all penalties or red cards have to be reviewed by the assistant is another idea being thrown around. The English Football Association are finally
beginning experiments with video referees in this season FA cup. Referees will have a tablet available for them to view Instant replays of the game,
similar to the TMO for tries in Rugby. Currently, there are too many what ifs in Football, from amateur level to the international stage, it is
unprofessional and not the right move to keep VA from the sport. One can only begin to imagine the amount of decisions that will be overruled and the
countless decisions that could've been corrected if this technology had been tried and tested all those numbers of years

Champions Of The World Cup
Champions of the World. My dad had grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and pulled us in close with tears in his eyes, whispering "Were going to
watch Italy win the fucking World Cup!" and amidst the 90,000 loyal german fans around us I wondered if that was the first time I ever heard him
swear. Rather then jumping around and celebrating, we embraced in a truly passionate hug and I could feel the sweat on the back of his jersey, as
if he had just fought for two hours. We watched Italy battle Germany for 118 minutes before Fabio Grosso curled a left footer home and broke the
deadlock. My father purchased tickets to two games six months in advance of the biggest soccer tournament in the world, Italy versus Czech
Republic, and the World Cup final. On July 5th, 2006 at a fan fest in Munich, my brother, father and I sported our team Italy jerseys and cheered as
our team conquered the German squad on their own soil. I remember going through the ticket gates of Olympiastadion, with a rapidly beating heart,
praying to God that our tickets were real, and that we would be allowed in the gates. The sun was fast descending as we made our way to our seats
and awaited kickoff. Seven minutes in, the french side struck first after Zenidene Zidane converted a penalty kick, which was cheaply awarded after
Florent Malouda dove in the box, appealing to the referee with his arms flailing around, despite being in the second tier, we could see there was no
contact on the apparent foul. The

Presentation of Facts Surrounding Case
Background on Football and the FIFA World Cup:
Football (Commonly known as Soccer in the U.S.) was and still is the most popular sport in regards to viewership worldwide. In 2006 it was
estimated that the sport of football was played by more than 265 million people, and continuing to grow (These estimates were up from 2000,
estimated 42 million). Profession leagues exist throughout the world and the most popular teams were in Western Europe. The history of modern day
soccer dates back to 1863, although there was early evidence of soccer being played as a sport in China between the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. In

Both can have a devastating impact on a company's bottom line. The challenge is how to reach the largest number of consumer considering the limited
marketing capabilities due to the sponsorship agreement with Adidas. Nikes traditional marketing strategy has relied heavily on televised promotions
of its products and endorsement partnerships with top tier athletes in their respective sports. With television and internet ads being restricted for Nike
during the 2010 World Cup, there will be added cost of obtaining skilled professionals who are familiar with the national and local needs of the desired
demographic. This will be costly and time consuming. Poor placement and untimely delays could harm brand strength and reputation in the region. The
timing of product and endorsement releases will require extensive monitoring. Nike must also focus on how best to reach their target market of 17 year
old males. The obstacle faced when trying to reach this demographic without using the internet or television will be difficult but not impossible. There
will be issues with making strong relevant connections with their audience if the traditional positioning strategy cannot be implemented.
To overcome the 40 year association that Adidas has as the official FIFA sponsor, Nike must make sure that there content and images are not lost in
translation. To grow their position within the target market Nike will have to implement a consistent approach to demographic in

Benito Mussolini
The interwar period was perhaps the most lethal, with multiple fascist uprisings in Europe, and with them the rise of sports, especially football, as a
political tool. Benito Mussolini capitalized on the fact that the 1934 World Cup was to take place in Italy, by "drawing on the athletic imagery of the
Roman Empire," where Mussolini himself chose the referees for each game, culminating in the Italians bringing the trophy home that year (Duffy,
2003). Jules Rimet, president of FIFA, remained seated when the Italian national team gave the fascist salute to Mussolini after the game (Eisenberg,
2005). The 1936 Olympics were awarded to Berlin as compensation for the cancelled Games two decades earlier, but this was in the midst of the rise of

On September 8th, 1939, the FA announced that all football, except that organized by the military, was to be halted "until official notice to the
contrary" (Mason, A. n.d. "10 Facts..."). Contrary to 1914 with the onset of World War I, when professional football had continued for the first year of
war, England recognized that the threat coming from Nazi Germany's invasion of Poland just a week earlier on September 1st, was much more imminent
(Whitlock, 2016). Unfortunately, the English people realized that football would be the only constant left for them in this war–torn environment and
therefore protested heavily against this ban. There were two problems with the fans' complaints: first, the government had imposed a 50–mile traveling
limit on railroads because they were needed to move military supplies and soldiers, and second, that there was a limit of only 8,000 people per
stadium due to threats of Nazi bombardments (Whitlock, 2016). Nevertheless, the FA managed to put together several regional leagues across the
country that evaded these restrictions and solved the problem of many footballers themselves being drafted into military service. This was difficult in
itself, however, because after "the Luftwaffe's first bombing raid on London, July 10, 1940, many historic English stadia were damaged or

Too much risk can result in critical failure of the business and too little risk can reduce competitiveness. Risk is the effect of uncertainty on objectives
which have both positive and negative effects. According to the ISO/IEC Guide 73, risks are the combination of the probability of an event and its
consequences which have the potential for benefits (upside) if managed effectively, or the threat of success (downside) as a result of poor assessment
and management. Risks are a central part of any organisation's strategic management; it is suggested that the greater the risk involved, the higher the
return. However, this can only be managed by effective identification and treatment of all perceivable risks. Risk management is a process that is
supported by a set of principles and structures that are appropriate to the organisation and its external environment and requires a balance between the
level of the risk in relation to the size, nature and complexity of the organisation.

Bridges By Grid Foer: Summary
I enjoyed this book a great deal, yet have to begin my comments by attacking it's pretentious name and seeming purpose. When I gave up on reading it
as the author presented it, and read it as I think it works – a series of fascinating glimpses of interesting football clubs (I can't stand to call them soccer
clubs), then it reads marvelously.
However, Foer claims the book to be something more, and that part of the argument just failed for me completely. I'll get back to this theme, but let me
first talk about the delight I had in reading the separate chapters, and reading them as just that, fairly separate chapters.
Beginning with the frighteningly violent story of Red Star of Belgrade, followed by the bitter rivalry of Glasgow's Protestant ... Show more content on

. . the tendency toward glorifying all things indigenous even when they deserve to be left in the past." . . .
"So, in a way a hooligan's nostalgia for his youth is the most honest kind of nostalgia."
And football meshes both, unlike the global economy.
I was especially delighted with his treatment of Brazilian football, which has resisted a great deal of this new movement, which Foer rightfully argues
is why they can't keep the great players in Brazil or attract many great foreigners.
They are still operated as social clubs, and non–profit organizations at that for which the "president" doesn't even get paid. Then Foer gave me a great
laugh as he revealed how these various presidents, with no salaries, end up living like oil rich sheiks. Said one non–paid Brazilian when asked how he
survived:
"I take no salary, just enough expenses to get by on."
One specially outrageous Brazilian crook, Miranda, explained why Brazil resists the modern movement toward the European model in local soccer,
appealing to tradition to defend their way of milking the clubs:
"Miranda is trying to argue that foreigners created the impression that clubs are just businesses, not repositories of traditions and superiority

David Beckham
David Beckham David Robert Joseph Beckham OBE (born May 2, 1975) is an English footballer born in Leytonstone, London. He is a midfielder
for Real Madrid and captain of the English national team. He is noted for the quality of his crossing and ability to hit free–kicks and corners,
particularly at long–range free–kicks and also for his marriage to a Spice Girl. He has played most of his career for Manchester United. Although there
are arguably many better current players in world football none are as famous. Manchester United 1995–2003 Beckham first signed a YTS (youth

His leadership, mainly by example due to his fitness and workrate helped England to qualify for the 2002 World Cup Finals and the 1–5 defeat of
Germany in Munich during a qualifier (a pivotal event for English football fans). The final step in Beckham's conversion from villain to hero happened
in England's 2–2 draw against Greece. Needing only one point from the match in order to qualify for the World Cup, Beckham dragged an otherwise
poor England side to qualification with sheer determination and a perfectly executed, last–minute free kick. Meanwhile, taking the role of captain
seems to have helped mature him, in both skill and temperament. Beckham played in all England's matches at Euro 2004, but failed to shine. He had
his penalty saved by former Manchester United team–mate Fabien Barthez in his side's 2–1 defeat to France in their opening group game. Then, when
England's Quarter–Final against hosts Portugal went to a penalty shootout, he was the first England player to attempt a shot. Beckham fired his shot far
over the crossbar and England went on to lose the shoot–out 6–5 after Englishman Darius Vassell also missed. Beckham later blamed the miss on the
poor state of the pitch, the British press blamed referee

The Influence of Soccer Since its conception, soccer continues to dominate the global sports scene. As of 2015, 265 million people play soccer in
the world. This widely known game was invented two centuries ago in England and quickly became one of the most popular sports in the world.
Soccer is also exceptionally influential in the political world. The sport has the capability to spark war and bring peace to entire nations. Along with
its effects on the political world, soccer is also a considerable part of many cultures. The daily lives of people culturally and politically would be vastly

Not only does the world affect soccer and its ideas, but soccer creates substantial effects on the world as well. Soccer extensively influences politics
all over the world, some of its effects positive and some negative. One of the major positive effects the sport can have is its power to stop wars and
bring nations together. One prime example of this is in 1967, Pele, a world famous Brazilian soccer star played in an exhibition match in Nigeria .
Prior to this event, Nigeria had been in the middle of a civil war, but when Pele arrived to play in the match, the country called a 48–hour cease–fire
just to honor Pele and his talent . In 2007 in Ivory Coast, the same thing happened again, only this time, Ivory Coast's own soccer team united the
nation. Ivory Coast had been at war with itself for five years when the national team played in the rebel capital. Both government supporters and rebels
were next to each other cheering in the stands because of soccer instead of politics ("Football– A Beautiful Game..."). Another time countries have
made peace over soccer was in 2008 and 2009 when Turkey and Armenia played in a World Cup qualifying game. The leader of Turkey and Armenia

Critical Review : A Critical Analysis Of Wayne Rooney's...
Critical Review–2
The article in the Guardian looks at the writer's opinion of Wayne Rooney being dropped from the England squad. I feel the article is engaging and
easy to read with a clear intent to show what the writer as well as many football fans feel about England player Wayne Rooney. It's clear that he and
many others feel Rooney is no longer fit to be starting as an England player and especially not as captain, and through the article he shows why.
References to many of the mistakes the players made in the past and the lack of form he's had on the England team are made through out to back up
his argument and use of witty writing makes it engaging for audiences to read and take in. Applying the 5 w's which should be key in any article is
not as clear as the article is more of an opinion piece rather than a news story, however we can find them. We know quite clearly 'Who?' the article is
about this being Wayne Rooney and we know 'What?', this being him not being fit enough to be part of the England squad. Where is hard to find but
why and when is, to show opinion on Wayne Rooney as a player and just before he's dropped as captain before an international game.
There are some flaws with the article, one being that it's very opinionated and provides little or no argument for Rooney to be in the team. While we
get the sense that many others feel the same way as the articles writer we don't get to see anyone else's opinion but his own. To improve on the article,

Alexander Chapman Ferguson, known as Alex Ferguson, was born in 1941, in Govan Glasgow Scotland. As a teenager he was working as a

Ferguson's "the football player" career is concerned, actually, he did not achieve a successful career. In fact, as a player Ferguson started with a small

What in your reading have you been able to find that supports your view?
Sir Alex Ferguson has been using the charismatic leadership style. In order to understand, Alex Ferguson style we have to start by defining the
"charismatic leadership" style as well as the charismatic personality treats. Charismatic leadership is defined as a "social influence process that involves
the formulation and articulation of an evocative vision, provides inspiration to motivate collective action ...and displays unconventional and personal
risk–taking behavior" (Sosik, Dinger, 2007). As far as the personality treats as concerned, charismatic leaders are most of the time "being dominant,
having a strong desire to influence others, being self–confident, and having a strong sense of one's own moral values" (Northouse, 2004).
Concerning Alex Ferguson style, he has been using encouragement and enthusiasm as motivation methods. In fact, Ferguson has been known as the
greatest motivator in the modern football times. To illustrate his cheerleading feature, in 1999, during the European Cup final, he indicated to his
team "at the end of this game, the European cup will be only three feet away from you and you will not be able to touch it if we lose" (Alex
Ferguson, 1999). Furthermore, as a leader he has been very demanding and always expecting a 100% from his players since he believes that
hard–work is the key of success: "I think it is important to work and I'm entitled to work, some

Heroes Of Sports : Personal Heroes And Villains In Sports
Personal Heroes and Villains in Sports Ricardo Kaka, Zindine Zidane, these are the names of two legendary soccer players who represent the
polarized sides of a very diverse spectrum of player attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives. Each player demonstrates a very high level of skill and
determination that has brought them fans from across the globe, however one has conducted himself to a higher standard following respect and
demonstrating fairness and honorable behaviors, whereas the other has acted disgracefully on multiple occasions and has sealed himself into the
infamous side of the history books. These ideals must be reviewed and analyzed in order to understand what we have become as audiences, and
what we venerate in society. Will we promote ethics or immorality? I believe these reflections can reveal a great sum about how we conduct
ourselves and how we truly regard ethics in sports. Ricardo Kaka, renowned AC Milan/Real Madrid player and native Brazilian, he is one of the
most openly religious players in soccer and has contributed much of his personal funds to founding churches and supporting charities. Furthermore,
Ricardo Kaka demonstrates a level of humility not often seen in the sporting world especially at the level he has competed at and the awards that he

III. Moral Arguments
While analysing comments and reactions, it is apparent that the moral theories of emotivism and egoism are instrumental to the justification of the
Hand of God. Egoism proposes people should "act only in their own interest." According to this theory, all that matters is one's own good. They believe
his actions – "his" and "he" refer to Maradona hereon – are right because it benefitted Argentine football and boosted national pride, especially since
they won the tournament. For some, the win serves as vindication for his actions – It had to happen because it was meant to be, i.e., he had to fist the
ball because Argentina was meant to win. Patriotic reasoning tends to supersede all other logic, and the focus lies

the Year and UEFA Club Midfielder of the Year award, he also signed a deal with Adidas and netted $13 million in endorsement deals. One of the
largest obstacles in his career was in these years. It was looking really good for David Beckham, because he was one of the leading faces on
England's World Cup team. Sadly, in this game he received a red card for violent conduct and was sent off. Fans were very upset after and England

Emergence of Modern Soccer
The sport of soccer is traced back more than 2,000 years ago to ancient China. There are some other places that also claims that they started the game
of soccer and they are Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America.
The place that really transitioned football the game that we now know as soccer is England. In October 1863 is the year that the game of soccer was
actually established, eleven representatives from London clubs and schools met at the Freemason's Tavern to set up common fundamental rules to
control the matches amongst themselves. It is said that the English also recorded the first uniform rules of the game, they forbid tripping opponents
and touching the ball with your hands. As the game of soccer developed the more rules that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then I found out that the leading exporter for soccer players in the world is actually Brazil even though Europe is the core economic of soccer. It is said
this is because of the Brazilian players predominantly fluid and imaginative style of playing the game of soccer. This is crazy to me but about 5000
Brazilians play professional soccer outside of Brazil, which is a very outrageous number of soccer players that are playing professional soccer all
around the world. One of the reason that Brazil has so many soccer players is because they are inspired by the success of Pele and Ronaldo. In Brazil
there are 500 professional clubs and those clubs employ about 23,000 players. Since there is so many teams the individual markets are small and
the pay is low for all the teams except for the top ones. It is stated that, "90 percent of Brazilian players earn less than 100 euros per month" (Bellos).
Brazil exports so many players to the world because of the poor clubs which means poor pay so the players would rather go somewhere else where

The U.S. Soccer or Football
INTRO
In the U.S soccer or football hasn't caught on quite just yet. Even though the American people have had recent success like in the 2002 World Cup and
the 2009 Confederations Cup. Though extremely popular in European countries, soccer took a long time to gain momentum in the United States
because Americans put more money and attention into other sports like baseball, football, and basketball. Soccer eventually became popular in the
1970s, but then lost popularity again when the National League went bankrupt.
U.S soccer started when the English settlers came to populate America. The game was originally played across an entire town with two nets at either

When the French created the FГ©dГ©ration Internationale de Football Association
(FIFA) in 1904 the United States did not have a soccer team participating. It was not until 1913 that the U.S. applied for FIFA membership, but there
were two main American leagues that wanted to join. FIFA said there couldn't be two different leagues and so the United States Football Association
(USFA) was established on April 5, 1913, giving the U.S. a international representation in the soccer world.
The US finally made it to the semi–finals of the World Cup in 1930, which increased the sport's popularity temporarily. They finished third out of 13

Each scene is short and consists of people talking to the camera and therefore talking to us the viewers. There are interviews with friends, family and
colleagues. David Beckham is seen signing books, playing football, and relaxing with posh, telling poor jokes at his own expense. Some moments
shown in this documentary are very personal – David missing Posh, David dressing and having his head shaved.
At certain stages there are commercial breaks. I think this is because different parts of David's life are shown at different stages so when we see
another part of David's life we are intervened by a break. The makers of this documentary chose television as their medium because television is
accessible to millions of people. A great percentage of people living in the U.K have a T.V therefore the makers of the David Beckham story knew
it would be watched by many people and fans that support David Beckham. I think this documentary had a great deal of impact on David Beckham
because it shows us what he is really like. Millions of viewers must have been glued to the T.V when they knew the David Beckham story was coming
on. T.V has a better and bigger impact than a book or a magazine.
As we watched the documentary we noticed the following effects of soundtrack. When David was playing football we noticed the use of classical

Additionally, there is an increased chance of injury. Competitive is the leading sport for ACL and is a close second behindfootball for concussions.

Brazilwood was a key product for Portuguese trade. But the focus on timber would soon change. Cash crops in the form of sugar cane production
became the focus. Slavery was needed for the growing of sugar cane and replaced the unsuccessful usage of native people for labor. "Regular slave
trade between Brazil and Africa was begun in the 1550s as a temporary measure to replace the Indians decimated by war and disease, but it lasted for
over 300 years, and the institution of slavery persisted until 1889, Brazil being the last country of the American hemisphere to abolish it." The
agricultural focus of sugar cane changed to coffee bean production in the late 19th century. As coffee began to take off, slavery was abolished. With the
influx of Africans halted, foreign immigration was promoted. This would have a profound effect on the societal make–up of the colony. Mass
migrations were already occurring as the Portuguese had established their minute South American empire. Between 1884 and 1920 three million
immigrants, mainly Italian, entered the country. Portuguese, Germans, Italians, Spanish, Britons, the descendants of African slaves and the products of
racial mixtures of Brazilian Indians, Europeans, and Africans would be the kin of those who football would become entrenched within. Football first
arrived on the shores of Brazil in 1864. British soldiers on shore leave kicked the ball around on their free time.

Soccer : The Culture And Culture Of Soccer
Brazil as a whole, contains a wide variety of distinguishing factors that contribute to its rich culture and that makes it unique, savory and
incredibly interesting to learn about. From Carnival to different religious beliefs to soccer and all kinds of different music, Brazil stands out of the
crowd for being original. When it comes to "Futebol" as it is called in Brazil or soccer as it is said in the United States, the Brazilian soccer team
came to be and had one as a player the greatest in not just Brazil but in the greatest team and player the world has known. Although soccer is a
national phenomenon in Brazil, the way it originated was from a Scottish individual which later allowed John Miller and his son Charles to begin
competing against teams and begin making the sport popular. This all took place in Sau Paulo and as the knowledge and competitiveness of the
sport began to grow, teams from England began to travel over to Brazil to play again the teams that the Millers had formed. They later came to name
the club Corinthians F.C and played against the English teams in the now known biggest and most expensive stadium in Brazil, the Morumbi Stadium.
As years progressed, the teams and the game became widely known throughout Brazil making it the most sought after sport there and what attracts not
only their nationals but tourists and people from all over the world as well. The Brazilian soccer team did not become famous or become the best over
the course of a day.

Medea Passion Vs Reason
Human emotions are among the most complex concepts in the world. Nobody will truly comprehend the enigma which causes the people of this planet
to act the way they do. This can be viewed in a positive or negative light. On one hand, these feelings cause empathy and compassion. On the other
hand, when emotions turn into burning passions, there could be lapses in judgment and rash decisions made based on raw intuition. When passion
overpowers reason, self–governance is futile. Once the heart is set on a goal, almost nothing will stand in its path, which is a prevalent motif in

Globalization has long been attributed as one of the main factors contributing to the overwhelming popularity of football around the world. Through
this process of global diffusion, football has managed to reach across borders and cultures to amass an astounding 3.5 billion fans from all over the
world (McGowan). Globalization has also provided football with another gift: migration. This particular effect is highlighted in European football with

There was a definite loss of identity as Germans tried to move on from the war. The rebuilding process was not going to be easy. And as history had
it, it took a miracle for the German people to finally be able to claim a new national identity. The WestGermany national team's win in the 1984
World Cup was the start of a new era for the German people, it "mark[ed] the beginning of Germany's rebirth as a gradually more self–confident
nation..." (Krauss 3). Thus their national team became their new source of national vitality and symbol of strength. When Germany became officially
reunited in 1990, the West German national team had just won another World Cup months before, marking a historic moment in Germany with another,

The globalization of football has skyrocketed through the years, which has resulted in many negative and positive outcomes for the sport as a whole in
Africa. Africa has been empowered and disempowered by this globalization that has created a complex relationship involving independence, peace and
commercial imperatives. As I will describe throughout this essay,Africa as a continent has come a long way with the globalization of football but still
struggles deeply in certain aspects. Football has played a vital role when it comes to the continent's countries gaining independence and peace. Before
focusing on one particular example to display why football has played such an important role, it is important to note that it has affected many other
areas of the continent other than just the one discussed. However, this one particular example points out how the globalization of an African
footballer can change a country and create peace and independence for a country. In 2004 the Ivory Coast was in the middle of a civil war between
the rebel–held Muslim north and the government–held Christian south. The civil war was officially declared over in 2007 yet the country was still far
from peace which is where football came into play to aid in peace and independence (Sellstrom 13). Didier Drogba, a highly esteemed footballer

Women’s New Role Essay
Women's New Role
In coming to understand what it meant to be a girl I was affected by my era, women's sports, and the place that I was raised, as much as the
independent feminist spirit that my mom was exposed to and possessed. My mother's mom raised her to believe and accept the traditional female role.
My grandmother put emphasis on the women staying home and existing solely as a support system for the man. She found comfort and security
knowing that it was the man's burden to "bring home the bacon." My mother, however; was influenced by the time and took it upon herself to take

With these independent values and the new women role models I had in sports, I learned to be confident in the choices that I made and that I could make
something with my life with my athletic endeavors.
Growing up I was the first generation of girls to have women role models in sports. For the first time I could watch a person of the same sex
compete and succeed. In 1986 I was able to watch the US Women's Soccer National Team take home the first gold metal in the sport of soccer. I
watched these women that had a dream to play and they made their respective dreams come true. In Mia Hamm's book she talked about how the
game of soccer to her was ultimate release and passion for her. Her father allowed her to play with the boys and thought that this competitive spirit
that his daughter possessed was harmless and healthy (Mia 45). Little did he know that his daughter would start a revolution that no man saw coming.
These "tom boys" who thought that they were the only girls playing sports opened up a whole new field of work, and broke through one of the
toughest gender stereotypes known to woman. Success in women's soccer, and even the development of the professional league, along with new
opportunities that arose with title 9,in which colleges were forced to produce an equal number of scholarships for women have contributed to my
committed efforts to succeed and play at the highest level. Although, today I can see the result

Calciopoli scandal is likely the best example of the interaction between ordinary justice and sports justice and the strong differences existing among
them. A major issue concerning these two different types of law concern their timetables. The sport judicial trial was far quicker that the normal one.
The first decision arrived at the 14th July 2006, while the last decision was taken on the 24th of November 2006. Such velocity could impact the depth

The Popularity Of British Football
British football is definitely one of the most hit sports in the world. Besides, the highly competitive structures of football competitions in Britain,
including promotions, inter club transfers and ownership transfers has allowed its fan base around the world to keep growing. Its charm has attracted
not only football followers around the world, but also the local and international buyers. More importantly, English football clubs are still very good
in making money out of the game. According to a report from Deloitte 's sports business group, English football clubs have earned combined revenue
of 2.98 billion Euros (Choudhury, 2016). The popularity of British Football clubs is very large, as well as the whole football culture in the... Show more

By the year 1871, 50 clubs had become the members of the football association. In 1872, the first football competition in the world was initiated as FA
Cup. In the same year, Great Britain made it first international football match between England and Scotland. By the year 1888, the first league
championship was on the move. The rapid rise of organised football gave a start to the development of professionalism and speculation in the sport. The
popularity of the sport also influenced its spread outside the country; therefore other European countries also started forming their football associations.
This ultimately led to the consistent development of international football community (FIFA.com, 2016).
Opposite to the fact that England has been historically dominant in football, the England national football team has won the World Cup only once in
1966. Also, in terms of national football team, the United Kingdom is not represented as one team. Instead, all the countries in the UK – England,
Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales – have their own football teams (Bloomsbury–international.com, 2014).
Despite the failure of the national team of the home country of football, Britain has generated one of the most dominated and the most unpredictable
football leagues, English Premier League, and many of the best football clubs not only in the entire Europe but also in the world. The English Premier
League (EPL), also called as

The Importance Of Football In The World

  • 1. The Importance Of Football In The World By the second half of the Nineteenth Century, the first club and sports federation was established ("football history", 2013). The enthusiasm for football was quickly contagious from Great Britain to other countries, thanks to the population and urbanization process resulted from the Industrial Revolution (Spampinato, 2004). There was an urgent need to build a facility could welcome a high number of spectators and fans (Santo, & Mildner, 2010), formed the awareness of sports importance to individuals and community, to produce a new age of stadia at five sequential steps of progression. 2–2–1First–step stadia 1872–1950 (Hosting): The main purpose of stadium's design was hosting spectators as possible as it could be, in an age when sports ... In order to deal with this issue, as well as stadia were equipped to welcome television broadcasting systems; stadia were equipped with facilities to attract a wide range of fans (Spampinato, 2004). Seats had better view angles, stands became roofed, and a higher number of toilet facilities, and beverage outlets in the stands were provided. That was the start of the concept of fan zones (Fig.8), especially by 1970's, when the market saw the appearance of the specialized and dedicated sports architecture practice (Santo, & Mildner, 2010), which produced new image of fans facilities with amenities (greater revenue, more luxury suites, and higher quality finishes) (Fig.9). Moreover, there were artificial lighting installations to ensure night broadcasting. A common element of that age, the stadia concept was an introverted element in the city, although their inner facilities were a comfortable inside yet anonymous outside, missing both indoor and outdoor safety (Spampinato, 2004). 2–2–3Third–step stadia 1990–1995 (commerce): At the end of The Eighties, more fans resulted in more accidents and violent situations (Belden, 2012), in 1990 there were new safety measurements to be adopted in the UK stadia, followed by many nations later. At this step; the stadium was larger, safer, and had more permanent spaces for different activities (Spampinato, 2004). Consequently, these facilities were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mark Halsey The intention of this piece is to inform the reader of the recent happenings involving Mark Halsey and how his situation raises the bigger question of the introduction of video assistant referees in top flight football. Targeted for football fans who follow high level football. In the past couple of days, the footballing world has been rocked by the claims of Mark Halsey, an ex–English Premier League referee. He claims to have been told to make specific decisions about incidents which have occurred during a match. If his statement has any shred of truth, the footballing world has a very scary problem on their hands. Other sports such as rugby and tennis use different types of video assistance in their respective sports to help out the officials. There is only so much a human eye can see and when an official is tired or has an obstructed view, decisions can be made incorrectly. This is when video referees can come in and help. The could allow for a replay to show them what the best decision to be made is. So many forms of VA can be used, perhaps the captains of each team get a limited amount of challenges to the referee's decision, or the referee can choose when to look at the video. Set rules like all penalties or red cards have to be reviewed by the assistant is another idea being thrown around. The English Football Association are finally beginning experiments with video referees in this season FA cup. Referees will have a tablet available for them to view Instant replays of the game, similar to the TMO for tries in Rugby. Currently, there are too many what ifs in Football, from amateur level to the international stage, it is unprofessional and not the right move to keep VA from the sport. One can only begin to imagine the amount of decisions that will be overruled and the countless decisions that could've been corrected if this technology had been tried and tested all those numbers of years ... My dad had grabbed us by the scruff of our necks and pulled us in close with tears in his eyes, whispering "Were going to watch Italy win the fucking World Cup!" and amidst the 90,000 loyal german fans around us I wondered if that was the first time I ever heard him swear. Rather then jumping around and celebrating, we embraced in a truly passionate hug and I could feel the sweat on the back of his jersey, as if he had just fought for two hours. We watched Italy battle Germany for 118 minutes before Fabio Grosso curled a left footer home and broke the deadlock. My father purchased tickets to two games six months in advance of the biggest soccer tournament in the world, Italy versus Czech Republic, and the World Cup final. On July 5th, 2006 at a fan fest in Munich, my brother, father and I sported our team Italy jerseys and cheered as our team conquered the German squad on their own soil. I remember going through the ticket gates of Olympiastadion, with a rapidly beating heart, praying to God that our tickets were real, and that we would be allowed in the gates. The sun was fast descending as we made our way to our seats and awaited kickoff. Seven minutes in, the french side struck first after Zenidene Zidane converted a penalty kick, which was cheaply awarded after Florent Malouda dove in the box, appealing to the referee with his arms flailing around, despite being in the second tier, we could see there was no contact on the apparent foul. The challenge is how to reach the largest number of consumer considering the limited marketing capabilities due to the sponsorship agreement with Adidas. Nikes traditional marketing strategy has relied heavily on televised promotions of its products and endorsement partnerships with top tier athletes in their respective sports. With television and internet ads being restricted for Nike during the 2010 World Cup, there will be added cost of obtaining skilled professionals who are familiar with the national and local needs of the desired demographic. This will be costly and time consuming. Poor placement and untimely delays could harm brand strength and reputation in the region. The timing of product and endorsement releases will require extensive monitoring. Nike must also focus on how best to reach their target market of 17 year old males. The obstacle faced when trying to reach this demographic without using the internet or television will be difficult but not impossible. There will be issues with making strong relevant connections with their audience if the traditional positioning strategy cannot be implemented. • 6. Benito Mussolini The interwar period was perhaps the most lethal, with multiple fascist uprisings in Europe, and with them the rise of sports, especially football, as a political tool. Benito Mussolini capitalized on the fact that the 1934 World Cup was to take place in Italy, by "drawing on the athletic imagery of the Roman Empire," where Mussolini himself chose the referees for each game, culminating in the Italians bringing the trophy home that year (Duffy, 2003). Jules Rimet, president of FIFA, remained seated when the Italian national team gave the fascist salute to Mussolini after the game (Eisenberg, 2005). Contrary to 1914 with the onset of World War I, when professional football had continued for the first year of war, England recognized that the threat coming from Nazi Germany's invasion of Poland just a week earlier on September 1st, was much more imminent (Whitlock, 2016). Unfortunately, the English people realized that football would be the only constant left for them in this war–torn environment and therefore protested heavily against this ban. There were two problems with the fans' complaints: first, the government had imposed a 50–mile traveling limit on railroads because they were needed to move military supplies and soldiers, and second, that there was a limit of only 8,000 people per stadium due to threats of Nazi bombardments (Whitlock, 2016). Nevertheless, the FA managed to put together several regional leagues across the country that evaded these restrictions and solved the problem of many footballers themselves being drafted into military service. This was difficult in itself, however, because after "the Luftwaffe's first bombing raid on London, July 10, 1940, many historic English stadia were damaged or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Risk is the effect of uncertainty on objectives which have both positive and negative effects. According to the ISO/IEC Guide 73, risks are the combination of the probability of an event and its consequences which have the potential for benefits (upside) if managed effectively, or the threat of success (downside) as a result of poor assessment and management. Risks are a central part of any organisation's strategic management; it is suggested that the greater the risk involved, the higher the return. However, this can only be managed by effective identification and treatment of all perceivable risks. Risk management is a process that is supported by a set of principles and structures that are appropriate to the organisation and its external environment and requires a balance between the level of the risk in relation to the size, nature and complexity of the organisation. • 8. Bridges By Grid Foer: Summary I enjoyed this book a great deal, yet have to begin my comments by attacking it's pretentious name and seeming purpose. When I gave up on reading it as the author presented it, and read it as I think it works – a series of fascinating glimpses of interesting football clubs (I can't stand to call them soccer clubs), then it reads marvelously. However, Foer claims the book to be something more, and that part of the argument just failed for me completely. I'll get back to this theme, but let me first talk about the delight I had in reading the separate chapters, and reading them as just that, fairly separate chapters. Beginning with the frighteningly violent story of Red Star of Belgrade, followed by the bitter rivalry of Glasgow's Protestant ... "So, in a way a hooligan's nostalgia for his youth is the most honest kind of nostalgia." And football meshes both, unlike the global economy. I was especially delighted with his treatment of Brazilian football, which has resisted a great deal of this new movement, which Foer rightfully argues is why they can't keep the great players in Brazil or attract many great foreigners. They are still operated as social clubs, and non–profit organizations at that for which the "president" doesn't even get paid. Then Foer gave me a great laugh as he revealed how these various presidents, with no salaries, end up living like oil rich sheiks. Said one non–paid Brazilian when asked how he survived: "I take no salary, just enough expenses to get by on." One specially outrageous Brazilian crook, Miranda, explained why Brazil resists the modern movement toward the European model in local soccer, appealing to tradition to defend their way of milking the clubs: "Miranda is trying to argue that foreigners created the impression that clubs are just businesses, not repositories of traditions and superiority

His leadership, mainly by example due to his fitness and workrate helped England to qualify for the 2002 World Cup Finals and the 1–5 defeat of Germany in Munich during a qualifier (a pivotal event for English football fans). The final step in Beckham's conversion from villain to hero happened in England's 2–2 draw against Greece. Needing only one point from the match in order to qualify for the World Cup, Beckham dragged an otherwise poor England side to qualification with sheer determination and a perfectly executed, last–minute free kick. Meanwhile, taking the role of captain seems to have helped mature him, in both skill and temperament. Beckham played in all England's matches at Euro 2004, but failed to shine. He had his penalty saved by former Manchester United team–mate Fabien Barthez in his side's 2–1 defeat to France in their opening group game. Then, when England's Quarter–Final against hosts Portugal went to a penalty shootout, he was the first England player to attempt a shot. Beckham fired his shot far over the crossbar and England went on to lose the shoot–out 6–5 after Englishman Darius Vassell also missed. Soccer extensively influences politics all over the world, some of its effects positive and some negative. One of the major positive effects the sport can have is its power to stop wars and bring nations together. One prime example of this is in 1967, Pele, a world famous Brazilian soccer star played in an exhibition match in Nigeria . Prior to this event, Nigeria had been in the middle of a civil war, but when Pele arrived to play in the match, the country called a 48–hour cease–fire just to honor Pele and his talent . In 2007 in Ivory Coast, the same thing happened again, only this time, Ivory Coast's own soccer team united the nation. Ivory Coast had been at war with itself for five years when the national team played in the rebel capital. Both government supporters and rebels were next to each other cheering in the stands because of soccer instead of politics ("Football– A Beautiful Game..."). I feel the article is engaging and easy to read with a clear intent to show what the writer as well as many football fans feel about England player Wayne Rooney. It's clear that he and many others feel Rooney is no longer fit to be starting as an England player and especially not as captain, and through the article he shows why. References to many of the mistakes the players made in the past and the lack of form he's had on the England team are made through out to back up his argument and use of witty writing makes it engaging for audiences to read and take in. Applying the 5 w's which should be key in any article is not as clear as the article is more of an opinion piece rather than a news story, however we can find them. In order to understand, Alex Ferguson style we have to start by defining the "charismatic leadership" style as well as the charismatic personality treats. Charismatic leadership is defined as a "social influence process that involves the formulation and articulation of an evocative vision, provides inspiration to motivate collective action ...and displays unconventional and personal risk–taking behavior" (Sosik, Dinger, 2007). As far as the personality treats as concerned, charismatic leaders are most of the time "being dominant, having a strong desire to influence others, being self–confident, and having a strong sense of one's own moral values" (Northouse, 2004). Heroes Of Sports : Personal Heroes And Villains In Sports Personal Heroes and Villains in Sports Ricardo Kaka, Zindine Zidane, these are the names of two legendary soccer players who represent the polarized sides of a very diverse spectrum of player attitudes, behaviors, and perspectives. Each player demonstrates a very high level of skill and determination that has brought them fans from across the globe, however one has conducted himself to a higher standard following respect and demonstrating fairness and honorable behaviors, whereas the other has acted disgracefully on multiple occasions and has sealed himself into the infamous side of the history books. These ideals must be reviewed and analyzed in order to understand what we have become as audiences, and what we venerate in society. Will we promote ethics or immorality? I believe these reflections can reveal a great sum about how we conduct ourselves and how we truly regard ethics in sports. Even the youngest football fans are aware one ought not touch the ball with one's wrist. Nevertheless, people – usually not British – find ingenuity in his actions. Argentina, led by Maradona, won the prestigious event, and Maradona was named the best player of the tournament, winning the Golden Ball. The incident, however, is referenced till date. III. Moral Arguments While analysing comments and reactions, it is apparent that the moral theories of emotivism and egoism are instrumental to the justification of the Hand of God. Egoism proposes people should "act only in their own interest." According to this theory, all that matters is one's own good. They believe his actions – "his" and "he" refer to Maradona hereon – are right because it benefitted Argentine football and boosted national pride, especially since they won the tournament. I also have set a goal to read 30 minutes every night. Granted last year I did read almost every night, I wouldn't read the other days. So I would like to read everyday by setting a time period for each night so I can have my 30 minutes of reading in each night. This will allow me to be superior at reading longer books knowing that if I can read a certain amount of pages in 30 minutes, I will be able to find out how quickly I can accomplish a long book. Which also will benefit me read and achieve a large amount of books at a time. "Technique is not being able to juggle a ball 1000 times. Anyone can do that by practicing. As I will describe throughout this essay,Africa as a continent has come a long way with the globalization of football but still struggles deeply in certain aspects. Football has played a vital role when it comes to the continent's countries gaining independence and peace. Before focusing on one particular example to display why football has played such an important role, it is important to note that it has affected many other areas of the continent other than just the one discussed. However, this one particular example points out how the globalization of an African footballer can change a country and create peace and independence for a country. In 2004 the Ivory Coast was in the middle of a civil war between the rebel–held Muslim north and the government–held Christian south. The civil war was officially declared over in 2007 yet the country was still far from peace which is where football came into play to aid in peace and independence (Sellstrom 13).
