The Chocolate War And An Absolute Diary Of A Part Time Indian
When people think about tribalism, they usually associate it with a strong possession of a cultural or
ethnical identity. Tribalism can take many forms. For example, it can refer to popular culture in which
people are exhibiting loyalty to their social group. Certainly, there are positive and negative
perspectives to either side. When reading The Chocolate War and An Absolute Diary of A Part Time
Indian, I experienced both sides of tribalism. When, reading An Absolute Diary of A Part Time Indian,
by Sherman Alexie, I saw how the protagonist Arnold was able to gain support from his tribes while
discovering strengths inside of himself that he never knew existed. In comparison, I discovered while
reading The Chocolate War, by Robert Cormier, the protagonist Jerry had the foundations of support,
but it ended up crumbling when he needed the support the most. Why was Arnold able to become an
individual while being a member of numerous tribes, when Jerry s tribes didn t support him for being
an individual?
Jerry, a freshman who comes into Trinity and is able to throw off its balance. He is able to defy the
Vigils and that action alone is huge, because no one has ever dared to defy them before because the
Vigils are their own tribe at Trinity. Jerry is able to disturb the tribe and almost rally supporters behind
him, but it doesn t last very long and Jerry is singled out by the Vigils. Jerry had the football team as
his tribe early on before he was assigned to not sell the

Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease
I m only sixteen, I am too young to be in a care facility! That is just one of the many things a person
with dementia might say. Many patients with dementia lose their memories of growing up and may
think they are a child again. Or perhaps they think they are still at home and caring for their families.
You could see why some dementia patients may be upset or have behaviors because of this. Not every
person with dementia is the same, but most symptoms are similar. In the knowledge of health science
there are four different types of dementia which are Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia,
Frontotemporal Dementia and the Alzheimer s disease. Questions about Dementia may still be
unsolved about how this disease was originally derived, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead of labeling it Alzheimer s, Dementia differs because it can happen any age. In 2015, the
Alzheimer s Disease International estimated that about 46.8 million people worldwide live with
dementia and these statistics will most likely double every twenty years. The most rapid growth of
dementia in the elderly is currently taking place in China, India and the other surrounding Asian
countries due to them being developing countries.
Dementia is a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by a brain disease or injury
and marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning. (Merriam Webster
Dictionary). A simpler way to define dementia is that it is a mental illness that causes someone to be
unable to think clearly or to understand what is real and what is not real, the Merriam Webster
dictionary illustrates. Dementia is the leading illness to the common case of Alzheimer s. Dementia is
not a disease, it s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms. Dementia isn t a specific
disease. Instead, dementia describes a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social
abilities severely enough to interfere with daily functioning. (Mayo Clinic Staff). Dementia can best
be described as a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person s ability
to perform everyday activities. People with dementia often forget things,

Self Respect Is A Very Powerful Term
Neel Bhagat ENG 111 September 09, 2015 Self respect is a very powerful term. Self respect is
something that has to be earned; it has to be earned from you for yourself. Self respect has to be
learned by oneself, nobody is born with self respect for himself or herself; it s not an instinct. Many
people take pride in their sense of self respect. Self respect is a vital part of ones existence. Self
respect is developed throughout a persons lifetime through many different experiences and encounters
with other people, oneself and society. According to Merriam Webster collegiate dictionary the
meaning of self respect is 1: a proper respect of oneself as a human being 2: regard for one s own
standing or position . Self respect can come in many shapes and forms. There is no mandated
definition for this word. It is all what meaning you make of it. Self respect is essential when it comes
to making decisions for one self. The level of self respect you have for yourself determines how good
you are at making judgments for yourself and others. Lets say you are going out to dinner with your
friends and your friend is a really cheap as a person, and will make the excuse of saying that he forgot
his wallet at home and will ask you to cover for him this time and that he will pay you back whenever
he sees you next. Next time you see him you guys go out to a movie and you want him to pay you
back, but you have a certain sense of self respect and you don t want to be the one to remind him

The Idea Of Narcissistic Love
Another example that frames a negative love through a more narcissistic form of intemperance
combined with a necessity (a counterpart to freedom). The contrast of a narcissistic love (an evil love
that necessitates tyrannical measures) to a sacrificial love that promotes freedom reinforces the ways
in which love is framed as good or evil. The description between the attributes of the gates to the
gardens shows these opposing differences. The Book 2, Canto 12, Stanza 43 opens with goodly it was
enclosed round about, which immediately gives the sense that this enclosure is not inclusive. The
following lines, as well their entered guests to keep within / as those unruly beasts to hold without are
juxtaposed to one another and opposed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the mirror stanza in Adonis garden allows freedom by which both in and out men moten
pas, portraying a good love as giving, taking/receiving and letting go (III.2.31). This is in opposition
to Acrasia s exclusive love, whereas a good love demonstrates inclusivity. Looking at this from an
overarching view, Acrasia s love necessitates a rationale to subjugate its guests as opposed to Adonis
garden that represents freedom two extremes that constantly exert push and pull forces on one another.
In each mirrored stanza their power relations further demonstrates the way frame in which Spenser
defines a negative positive love. Accordingly, in Acrasia s garden the line, wisdoms power and
temperance s might displays a fear of temperance and wisdom as well as an inability to defend against
a justified good love and eke the gate was wrought of substance light / rather for pleasure, then for
battery or fight; Spenser frames a bad love as a thin, weak fence that fears a good love s dominant
power. In contrast, good love conjures a picture equivalent to the gates of heaven the one of iron, the
other of bright gold, and further reinforced by its impenetrability, that none might thorough break, nor

Since Burger King has officially bought the Canada coffee shop chain Tim Hortons in August for $11

For its products at Tim Hortons, it sells coffee and donuts. There are wide selection of homemade of

Charles Town Dbq
Settling Charles Town During 1670 to 1783, todays Charleston was first named Charles Town from
King Charles II and later named Charlestown. Settlers from England, France and Spain all settled in
Charles Town, and establish a colony. Many trial and errors took place in the process of coming to
South Carolina. For example, Sir Robert Heath was given a grant but the initial settlement did not take
place. Later, he built a settlement below Virginia Colony stretching Southward to Spanish Florida.
While settling in South Carolina there were many struggles and obstacles encountered by the settlers.
Charles Town was difficult to settle from geographical features, natural resources and wildlife, and

Delays Affecting The Construction Schedule
1 Concurrent Delays
Concurrent delays can be used in both the offensive as well as defensive ways. Contractor uses
concurrency as a shield to defend himself against fiscal damages by the employer. On the other hand
employer uses it to ward off the contractor s pursuits for delay costs. Therefore, this topic has been
going through a lot of research. United States Court of Federal Claims described the notion of
concurrent delay in R.P. Wallace, Inc. v. U.S. 63 Fed. Cl. 402 (2004). ). There are many players in
construction affecting the construction schedule; but, following are the three major examples of the
concurrent delays:
1. Owner and Contractor caused delays
2. Owner and Naturally caused delays
3. Contractor and Naturally caused delays
There are various possible situations arising in case of delays in construction:
1. In case of a Concurrent delay, caused by both the owner and general contractor; the contractor may
get a time extension, but no additional compensation.
2. In case of an Inexcusable delay, the contractor isn t entitled to receive an extension or any
additional compensation; and, rather, the owner may be entitled for the compensation of liquidated
damages or actual damages.
3. In case of Compensable delay, contractor is entitled to both a time extension and an additional
compensation.
4. In case of Excusable delay, the contractor gets a time extension but no additional compensation.
The above conditions depend on the contractual terms, general practices

There are some patients that cannot help their condition that would lead me to repeat myself. If I do
not gain more patience, I feel I would it would be unfair to the patient. I plan to practice by being
more conscious about my feelings when I am on the floor or for instance at work since I am a home
health care giver, working with the elderly. The barriers I will encounter and will always encounter are
challenging patients; it is something that can never disappear. There are also two personal strengths I

A new graduate not being emotional would mean I could handle death, if I am having a bad day or
even someone being critical of my skills. It takes time to grow and work on oneself, which I am and
will continue to do. It would be good to start a journal or write down the days I became extremely
emotional, reflect on why, and how to change it. I say I am not good at controlling my facial
expressions because I am bad with surprises. I have gotten better with this as well but I need to be
more conscious. The ability to control my expressions would maintain professionalism and it would
also keep my nonverbal communication appropriate. To be able to control nonverbal cues is a quality
important for nurses to also have. I tend to continue to be more aware of what I am feeling and the
faces I am making. I could also learn from other nurses as I carry on. Lifelong learning is continuous

The Nine Doctrines of War Essay
Surprise The nine doctrines of war are intertwined and dependent on each other. The doctrines used in
war are relative to the situation, which is always in flux. They must be used at the most precise time
that is right for the situation. Each doctrine of war is vital, but one can never stand on its own. Speed
and deception are often employed to further insure the desired effects. People use some form of
deception every day. Whether they are playing some type of game, trying to win the love of their life,
or trying to win big bucks, deception is everywhere. Surprise is important in developing the course of

Surprise is key in sports because teams need deception to trick the other team. If sports teams apply
deception as well as other doctrines of war they will most likely win. Furthermore, security is
important in obtaining surprise. Operation Mincemeat was successful in getting Hitler to split his
forces. To set up the deception, the British needed the body of a man who appeared to have died by
drowning. They found a man who had died of pneumonia in London. The British created a false
identity for the body as a major in the army. The dead man s wrist was handcuffed to a briefcase
containing British coded documents pertaining to the upcoming invasion of Sardinia and Crete. The
body was dumped overboard near the coast of Spain and Portugal and was washed up on shore.
Churchill knew the Germans had the British code, and messages were sent to indicate the Allies plan
was to attack Crete and Sardinia instead of Sicily. Hitler left soldiers in Sicily, but he split his forces
and sent some to Crete and Sardinia. The Allied plan to attack Sicily did not go as well as hoped. The
night the British and Americans spearheaded the attack the wind was blowing forty mph. The
Americans landed fifty five miles from their target and many drowned. When the ground invasion
came ashore between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., it was still dark, and the Allies could not quite see

The Loss Of Owen Meany By Randy White

ends up as the victor of the war as Owen Meany ended up getting what he wanted by being forced to
go to the University of New Hampshire instead of Harvard or Yale while Randy White only suffered
losses from his battle with Owen. In a way, Randy White ended up helping Owen get what he wanted
as Owen s expulsion from Gravesend Academy led to him being unable to go to Yale or Harvard

The only thing that Randy White comes out of from this war with Owen Meany is a lost job.
Throughout his war with Owen Meany, Randy White had injured his lower back severely, had to be
taken out of a Volkswagen with a blowtorch that was next to his face, had been publicly embarrassed
by a student, and had been turned against by half of his faculty because of a student. Because of
Randy White s war with Owen Meany, Randy White received a vote of no confidence from the
faculty, and the Board of Trustees ultimately decided to not renew his appointment as headmaster. It
must also be noted that Randy White is almost at all not mentioned at Gravesend Academy or
anywhere else in the book after his departure from the school. This points to his complete lack of a
good legacy or sustained influence over the school. In contrast, the book states that the new
headmaster of Gravesend Academy had come to Owen s funeral, and Johnny claims that this was
perhaps acknowledging that he wouldn t have been the headmaster if Owen Meany had not lost the
battle but won the war with Randy White. Although this does not point to a huge amount of influence
on the school on Owen Meany s part, it shows that Owen Meany is still remembered at Gravesend
Academy and that Owen Meany did defeat Randy White in the

Four Sects Essay
The Four Sects of the Jewish Population According to our textbook, A Brief Introduction to the New
Testament; during the time of the Hasmoneans, in reaction to their rule, a number of Jewish sects
emerged (37, Ehrman). In total, there were four million Jews divided among four sects. The four sects
were named Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, and Zealots. Each had different rules and beliefs that they
went by. The Pharisees were a well known group who followed both an oral law as well as the written
law. The followed God s word as closely as they could. The Sadducees were a group that rejected all
written law except for the five books of Moses and focused their worship on sacrifices. The Essenes

The Pharisees, in my opinion, would be sympathetic to Jesus. They loved God in every way. For His
son to help as many people all while teaching the word of God, I believe that the Pharisees would be
receptive to Him. The Sadducees, however, I do not think that they would be sympathetic to Jesus.
The Sadducees were a working group of people. They had many concerns in the political and working
world and didn t care much for the afterlife. One of Jesus biggest messages was eternal life after
death, but I think the Sadducees took that message with a grain of salt. The Essenes sect would take
well to Jesus. They have worked very hard to live a pure life from the political mess in Jerusalem.
They followed God s word. They may have had their pre existing ideas of what a messiah should be,
but I do not believe they would discredit Jesus. Lastly, I am not quite sure on how receptive the
Zealots would be of Jesus. I think they would want Jesus to help them fight against the Roman
Empire, but He would decline for more non violent

The Perspective That Influenced My Life
Everyone s perspectives have been influenced by their experiences. Every so often a grand occurrence
influences one s life in an impactful way, while other times it is the little instances that influence your
life the most. I know that I have definitely been influenced by innumerable occurrences, but one
perspective stands out more than others. My perspective is unlike the majority of others. This is from
the perspective of a girl who has four loving parents. Some kids may find it difficult to deal with four
parents, but for me it is comforting. Having multiple parents, I receive more support with everything I
undertake. For example, it is not just my mother and father supporting my decision to attend Lenape
for Culinary but also my step mother and step father. So, as you can tell I acquire an abundance
amount of support. Although people may be under the impression that it would be more difficult to
receive permission when wanting to do something, in my instance, it is actually better to get more
perspectives. Growing up, my father told me no to a large amount of activities that I wanted to do.

Uganda s Anti-gay Laws Essay
There has been an increase of gays all over the world in the last few generations. Some countries have
become accepting to it, but others are not having any of it and Uganda, a country in East Africa, is one
of them. Uganda has passed severe laws for an anti gay country. Some laws as severe as life in prison
or death sentence. The U.S. should step in and act as an International police force before things get too
out of hand because nobody should be put to death or spend lifetime in prison for being who they are.

way was to be not ashamed of it. Kato was proud to be gay even though it was risky, especially in the
country of Uganda with all the new Anti Homosexuality Bills. Kato televised a press conference to

Analysis Of Bachmann Gambling Addiction
Bachmann Gambling Addiction
In The Neurology of Free Will, Charles Duhigg puts a special importance on habits their inner
working and how they can change. Duhigg describes how habits work through the cycle of cue,
routine, and reward. Angie Bachmann from being a bored housewife to losing all her money through
uncontrollable gambling.
Angie Bachmann mother of 3 children, got addicted to gambling felt lonely at home, when her
husband went to work and children went to school. Bachmann had gotten married young and had
become pregnant almost right away. She had never held down a meaningful job. One morning, She
was sitting at home, staring at the television, so bored that she was giving serious thought to
reorganizing the silverware drawer (Duhigg). That morning the trouble began. She was really bored,
so at about noon, Bachmann drove to a riverboat casino. She played and lost 40 dollars. After that first
trip to the casino, Bachmann started going to the riverboat once a week. Then twice a week. Over the
next decade, Bachmann played regularly. She went whenever she fought with her husband or was just
bored. At the tables she was numb and excited, all at once. The high of winning was so immediate.
The pain of losing passed so fast. According to Duhigg states First, there is a cue, a trigger that tells
your brain to go into automatic mode. Then there is the routine the behavior itself which can be
physical or mental or emotional. Finally, there is a reward, which helps

Social Medi The Umbilical Cord Of Our Lives
Social Media: The Umbilical Cord of our Lives
In recent years, social networking sites have grown considerably due to the great reception between its
members. Every human being wants to live in family and where they can have contact with other
people (relatives and friends), and get products and services in different markets, which comes
personally. The growth of population in the world and the growth of cities, far from major industries,
has caused millions of people to migrate to different parts of the world, developing new notions of
multiculturalism and new communication needs, which have been satisfied with the advent of the
internet and globalization, because today it is possible to communicate in real time with people
physically located in different parts of the world. Nowadays unlike the late 1980s and 1970s, people

A Brief Look at the Work of Evan Holloway
Evan Holloway resists any definite classifications. Holloway employs a wide variety of found objects
such as tree branches, tires, and barbed wire, but also sculptural material such as steel and paper
Mache.
Holloway incorporates a lot of the figural objects into his sculptures. Small crudely formed faces
created with sculptamould which is a material similar to plaster, are often found in his work. Usually
adhered to steel rods or peering out from the side of the boxes. Each face is painted to highlight the
eyes and mouth, therefore each expresses a certain degree of personality. For the work of 58, this face
motif appears repeating itself fifty eight times. The work is part of an ambitious series of one hundred
total works that presents a numbered sculpture with the corresponding amount of sculptamould faces
easily balanced on steel rods. Based on doomsday theories about population growth, this sculpture is
at once calculated and rigorous but also playful and amusing to look at.
When I look at this piece I see something different that I have never seen because when you first look
at it you think what is this? it s very random, but when you take a close look at it like at the face molds
you see the face expressions on them and each one is different like there trying to tell a story about
what s going on. As well as it look like a depressing story was being told about lost souls in a certain
era like a war of a great depression with people screaming for help with

Compare And Contrast Between Mice Of Men And The Movie Of...
Of Mice and Men Analysis
The movie, Of Mice and Men portrays the harsh life of migrant farm workers in the 1930s. Directed
and produced by Gary Sinise, it is a heartwarming movie starring John Malkovich (Lennie), Gary
Sinise (George) and more. The movie, based off the popular and once infamous novella Of Mice and
Men by John Steinbeck, talks about the working class in the 1930s when the stock market crashed.
Overall, the movie depicts aspects of the lower class realistically, and how the two men, George and
Lennie, go on their lives. The setting gives the audience a direct point of view of life in the early
1900s. By watching the movie, the viewers know that the plot is often very troublesome, since the two
main characters attract trouble. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, the lines She had full, rouged lips and wide spaced eyes, heavily made up. Her
fingernails were red. Her hair hung in little rolled clusters, like sausages. She wore a cotton house
dress of red ostrich feathers. (Steinbeck, 32) describe the physical appearance of Curley s wife. In the
quote above, we see the color red, a symbol in the novella, mentioned several times. Red often appears
on stop signs or traffic lights. In either case, they tell people stop, or else they will suffer
consequences. Red attracts attention and causes temptation, but the men around her must resist their
desire or pay for their misstep. Curley s wife, a magnet for trouble, wears this bold and dangerous
color. Her presence gives off a warning; avoid her or else pay the price. The color red also reminds the
reader of fresh blood, foreshadowing the death of Curley s wife and Lennie, causing the shattering of
George and Lennie s dream. Yet, in the movie, Curley s wife does not wear bright red dress; Curley s
wife does not wear red mules with ostrich feathers; Curley s wife does not use red nail polish. Instead,
she often wears white with pink, two much more innocent and pure colors. This detail, despite
seeming to be frivolous, is an essential symbol that should not have been left out. Without this detail,
the wife s dangerous and trouble creating characterization is not as prominent.
Of Mice and Men is a very successful movie; it uses many

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Robotics
Last hundred years robotic technology has developed in many areas such as industry, military,

Drivers Of Stability Of Mali
DRIVERS OF STABILITY IN MALI Percy L. Jones II MCCC 04 15 July 30, 2015 Drivers of
Stability in Mali The West African country of Mali has from time to time been mired in un ending
overlapping humanitarian, political, economic, and security crises. Notably, the situation in the
country became worse when the government was destabilized and later overthrown in a 2012 military
coup. Following the coup, insurgents were quick to capitalize on the resulting power vacuum and
seize a greater portion of this country s vast sparsely populated north. As of 2013, a number of loosely
connected extremist groups including Al Qaeda were in full control of most towns in the northern
region. It is estimated that the region that has from time to time fallen under their control is as large as
Texas. In as much as the number of insurgent combatants (mainly Islamic) seems to be relatively
small, they are now notorious, and have become more entrenched. The seriousness of their
entrenchment is boosted by the fact that they have gone as far as ousting a separatist group of ethnic
Tuaregs that had initially been very influential, even in recruiting members among locals. Meanwhile,
the nominally civilian dominated government (based in the capital Bamako) formed in the post coup
period continues to be weakened gradually by continuous internal wrangles and military interference.
In addition, years of mega corruption and mismanagement seem to have stagnated progress in many

Robert H. West s Milton and the Angels consists of ten chapters which are divided into two main
sections. The first half of the book expounds upon the history of the study of angels in the Western
hemisphere and then in England specifically. The second half of the book examines the titular subject
of John Milton s propositions on angels. The final chapter of the work, reiterates and summarizes all
nine previous chapters to reveal their larger purpose and significance within the book itself and within
Milton s entire career. Through the structure, West outlines that he tried to give an orderly and

While each of the different traditions had very different beliefs on the details of angelology, such as
the exemplified Catholic and Protestant differences, each agreed upon the necessity of angelology,
which West reveals through the words of John Calvin. Beyond the question of the rank, West
expounds upon controversies about the nature, purpose, substance, ability, activity, and humanity of
angels throughout every age of history from the Greek and Roman empires to Milton s seventeenth
century England to both contextualize the book s subject for readers and to illuminate the significance
and depth behind John Milton s own literary representation of angels.
In chapters six and seven, West introduces Milton s angelology and examines the choices he makes
throughout his literature to maintain a specific representation of the angels and other supernatural
subjects. Specifically, West identifies three problems Milton had to overcome in writing Paradise Lost,
which involved balancing the need for literary description with the strict, biblical interpretation of
angels hailed in Puritanism, deciding which opinions on angelology could be used to truthfully deduce
the needed level of description, and broadly,

The paper also examines the events that led to this decades of disagreement between Washington and
Tehran. Allies to enemies, that is what happen after series of events such as the CIA backed coup in
1953 to the hostage crises at the U.S Embassy in Tehran. The U.S and many of its allies criticized Iran

other hand denied this accusations and stated that their nuclear program was only for civilian use only.
After long talks and crippling sanctions against Iran, finally there was a historic agreement between

Irony in the Works of Kate Chopin and Guy De Maupassant
Outline and Thesis Introduction Thesis: In the end of the each story, the woman is wholly undone by
the society in which she lives; she is destroyed when she is unable to live up to the ideal of
womanhood that her society dictates. The irony that serves the end of each story is the final blow,
which undoes the woman and finishes her life. Paragraph 1: Story of an Hour as unhappy marriage
Paragraph 2: ironic twist in Story of an Hour Paragraph 3: reason for Louis Mallard s death Paragraph
4: irony as the cause of death Paragraph 5: The Necklace summary/analysis Paragraph 6: conflict and
irony Paragraph 7: result of ironic twist Conclusion: Irony in Chopin and Maupassant Irony is a
literary device wherein what the reader expects to occur does not and the events that transpire are
wholly surprising. Authors throughout literary history have used this devise to surprise and entertain
the reader. Kate Chopin and Guy de Maupassant both utilize irony in their respective short stories The
Story of an Hour and The Necklace. In each story a woman who is believed to be happy in the role of
a proper Victorian and thus subservient female but ironically proves herself to be something other than
the ideal woman of that society and instead is something altogether different. Both Louise Mallard and
Mathilde Loisel belong to a period where woman was to be seen and not heard, to follow the will of
their husbands and to suffer any unhappiness in silence. In the end

Effects Of The Domino Theory On The Vietnam War
he Vietnam War was an extension of Cold War An Ideological conflict between Capitalism and
Communism (1965 1975)The US joined the war to stop the spreading of Communism( didn t want
Russia to gain more allies as they had in Cold War) , under the Domino effect theory (first developed
under the presidency of Dwight Eisenhower) applying this theory to South East Asia it argued that if
South Vietnam was taken by communists, then the other countries in the region such as Laos,
Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, Malaysia and Indonesia, would follow. The United States of America s
intention to stop the domino effect in Vietnam failed as in 1975 North Vietnamese forces marched into
Saigon. However communism itself did not spread throughout the rest of South east Asia.
After World War 1 the United States of America established itself as a formidable opponent and a
world power, World War 2 confirmed the superiority of the United States military and the unstoppable
patriotism of its people, Cold War showed that the government could negotiate peacefully instead of
directly waging yet another conflict. The main problem that led to the Vietnam War and the United

Several of these poems were about how people were losing themselves. Most of them were caught in a
situation that caused them to lose who they are. This causes people to either go crazy or continue
doing what they know because they do not understand anything else. These nonfiction readings
exemplify this Zeitgeist because they each explain how someone went through the journey of finding
who they are. In, Straw Into Golds: The Metamorphosis of the Everyday, by Sandra Cisneros she
writes about her life and how she went into achieving beyond her dreams. This also ties into, They
Live the Dream, by Dan Rathe, where he writes about several different people s stories and how each
found their American Dream. He explains how there is not just one set American dream, everyone has
their own individual one. Some may not achieve their dream, but we all have created one. These art
pieces exemplify this Zeitgeist because they each show how the artist sees themselves. In the painting
by Chuck Close, he creates a very realistic painting which is created by, small dashes, dots of pigment,
thumbprints, or applied pieces of colored paper. Jean Michel Basquiat s painting is also representing
how he envisions himself. This painting looks kind of demon or monster like. When one compares

My Visit On Chicago Military Academy At Bronzeville
My visit to Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville provided an image that the school has been the
sight of perceived danger, yet the teachers, such as Mr. Frontera, remain because they care and believe
that they can make a difference in the lives of the students they teach. The morning I was attempting
to go visit the school got off to a rocky start that would somewhat predict the rest of the day. The
principal at Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville asked me to visit with another class that started
forty minutes earlier than the class he had previously asked me to attend. After rushing through my
morning routine, I still managed to make it to the school ten minutes after the class started. Rather
than interrupt the class, I decided to go to the nearest McDonald s to sit and read until the next class
cycle. This was when I first noticed my surroundings. Though it was cold, there seemed to be a lot of
guys hanging around on the sidewalks. There were two fast food restaurants that I would not consider
healthy food choices. Once inside of McDonalds, I came to realize that I had sat down in the middle of
a drug transition. Essentially, there were men selling and doing drugs in the bathroom of the
McDonald s. I felt uncomfortable and decided it would be best to sit in the office of the school. Once I
arrived back at the school, I could not figure out how to access the building. I called the school,

Thomas Hobbes Leviathan
Hobbes, in Leviathan, immediately embarks on an ambitious task: not to explain tedious small morals,
but rather those qualities of mankind, that concern their living together in peace, and unity (Hobbes,
239). Hobbes asserts that no ultimate goal or greatest good exist; a universal goal in life simply does
not exist. Thus, no natural hierarchy can be established with respects to an individual s capacity to
achieve this ultimate good i.e. no one person is naturally better than the rest in achieving some
virtuous goal because no such goal exists. The alignment of human existence, therefore, is not towards
an ultimate good, but rather to avoid the ultimate evil: death. Therefore, the voluntary actions, and
inclinations of all men, tend, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although commonly interpreted as being such, the state of nature is not equivalent to everyone acting
out of self preservation. The state of nature arises from humans ill perception of what is, in fact, self
preservation. While we may wish to act out of self preservation, we often seek to satisfy immediate
needs without considering the consequences, thus leading to conflict. Likewise, Hobbes thinks we are
often too concerned with others perceptions of ourselves, evident by his discussion of glory as a
principle cause of quarrel. Humans ought to follow the laws of self preservation, and thereby ought to
endeavor peace, but yet, our shortsightedness prevents us from doing so. An objection may be that
there is no strong evidence that shows that self preservation leads to peace. To explain this, I turn to
Aristotle and his teleological explanation of human nature. Aristotle believed that the good of human
beings must be that at which the activity of living a human life aims at. What would a human life aim
at living other than living itself? Self preservation is the excellence that Aristotle valued, and, as
Aristotle argued, excellence leads to happiness, or

The Importance Of Co-Presence In Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting has become an influence in contemporary times as it is a way of communication to
a wider audience. Through radio broadcasting, we are introduced to a variety of components, different
music genres, currents events both locally and internationally, competitions, free giveaways and live
interactions between presenters and listeners. However, it is the idea of co presence that is stimulated
through these components in which makes radio broadcasting exciting to listen to and engage with.
The realm of co presence within radio broadcast has defined how the audience is actually listening to
their preferred radio stations. In this essay will discuss and break down concepts such as intimacy,
liveness and the implied audience that define the hegemony of co presence with in radio broadcasting
as described by Hugh Chignell s in his text, Key Concepts in Radio Studies (2009). This essay will
also be focusing on how the Mai FM breakfast show, Mai Mornings (2017), deliver Chignell s
concepts in order to understand the importance of co presence. Mai FM is a hip hop and RnB station
that is broadcasted all over New Zealand, and throughout the radio station, Chignell s concepts are
highlighted. Scholarly references will also be included throughout to shape the argument.

Compromise in the Pre-Civil War Era APUSH DBQ
Ever since declaring its independence from Britain, America has developed on the foundation of
compromise. Upon the drafting of the Constitution, the Founding Fathers were succumbed to
compromise in order to incorporate the needs of the different parts of the nation. During the early
eighteenth century, Americans achieved reconciliation of political disputes, predominately between
the North and the South, through compromise. By 1860 this was no longer feasible and the nation was
faced with disheartening threats to its unity. Sectionalism in the Union was further increased. Tariffs

Slave Law was enacted. In a speech to the Senate on March 7, 1850, Senator Daniel Webster stated his

is his notions of archetypes. The main difference is that Jung emphasized other factors besides
childhood memories. He partly focused on future aspirations and also delved into the supernatural in

Jung s psyche notion is broke into three parts: the ego, the personal unconscious, and the collective
unconscious. The ego is the awareness of the person and includes memories, cognitions, and affect.
The unconscious had a direct effect on personality in Jung s eyes, and was broken down into two
parts. The first part is the personal consciousness, this can contain personal information along with
repressed or forgotten past experiences. One of the major parts of the personal consciousness is the
complex. This notion is still referred to in the mainstream public and was a topic for many self help
books. The complex are the cognitions used on a particular topic, and the more emphasis put on the
topic the greater the complex. The last part is the collective unconscious. This was brought about by
Jung s research into the Native Americans, the supernatural, and through dream analysis. This level of
unconsciousness is shared throughout humanity and can explain why the same motifs are found in
dreams from people who do not communicate with one another. It is comprised of all the human
experience from the present to our ancestral past. It very much has an evolutionary aspect in that
experiences that our ancestors may have incurred are embedded deep within each person s

After an investigation by the US International Trade Commission, in 1983 President Reagan imposed
a 45% tariff on imported bikes and bikes over 700 cc engine capacity. The new management
deliberately exploited the past appeal of their big machines, building motorcycles that purposely
adopted the look and feel of their earlier models. Quality increased, technical improvements were
made, and buyers returned. Harley Davidson once again became the sales leader in the heavyweight
(over 750 cc) market. During its period of peak demand, the company expanded the number of
dealerships throughout the country. At the same time, its current dealers typically had waiting lists that
extended up to a year for some of the most popular models. In August 2009, Harley Davidson
announced plans to enter the market in India. The company established a subsidiary near Delhi, and

Pros And Cons Of Inequality
You can tell there is inequality in this world just simply based on the word mankind . I am sure almost
everyone in the world has been impacted by some sort of inequality/ abuse of power in the world.
Inequality can occur when a population of any kind does not maintain a common status, or could also
be a difference in power between individuals. Inequality can take place anywhere at any time, and has
been a major problem in the world today. Some people may not care about this, some people really
express their feelings on this subject, but some people just simply don t know much about the subject.
Inequality can happen anywhere from your own home to globally all over the world. Back in my
hometown, Medford Massachusetts, I work at a local popular sub shop. This sub shop has people
coming from all neighboring towns just dying to try one of our famous subs. I work here as a chef
with a small crew of around 6 total workers who are all very close to each other. I have been working
here for a while, and I have seen workers come and go, but the one thing I realized is that I ve never

Index fossils are fossils used to define and identify geologic patterns. They work on the premise that,
although different sediments may look different depending on the conditions under which they were
laid down. They may include the remains of the same species of fossils. If the concerned species was
short lived (only lasting a few hundred thousand years) then it is certain that the sediments were
deposited within that narrow time period. The shorter the lifespan of the species, the more precisely
different sediments can be correlated, and so rapidly evolving types of fossils are particularly valuable.
The best index fossils have 4 characteristics: they are unique, prevalent, plentiful, and restricted in

5. Sikhs believe in reincarnation and karma. This is one of the few fundamental areas that Sikhs
adopted from Hinduism.
Part 2
Respond to the following questions in 150 to 200 words:
1. What do you think is the most important similarity and which is the most important difference? Use
specifics to support your answer.
The most important difference is that of the creation of the universe. Jains regret the idea that the
universe was created by one creator. Rather they believe that the universe was created out of natural
forces in motion. And that they forces are constantly changing. Sikhs on the other hand believe that
the universe was created by one God. This one God is the divine entity in their monotheism religion.
This helps to formulate the understanding in each religions core beliefs. Regardless of their difference,
both religions stress the importance of the individual s struggle to purify the self, to act morally, and to
do good to others, Malloy (2013). The most important similarity is that of karma and reincarnation.
These basic principals have been adopted from Hinduism. It represents the main mantra that life on
this plane must be lived in the path of righteous. By doing onto others and acting selfless these two
religions are formed under one basic principal: to achieve the ultimate goal of life on the highest
existence level.
2. Consider the following statement: Sallekhana ( holy death ) violates the Jain principle of ahimsa

The Role Of The Melbourne Storm In Professional Sports
The Melbourne Storm are the best team in the history of the NRL. We congratulate them on having
the consistency, drive, stamina and determination to be able to be in the NRL Grand Final over the
past seven years. However, GREATNESS is always about timing, that comes with a plan for their
greatness. We cheer for the Melbourne Storm at their matches when it s win, lose or draw and we
cheer for our colours when we make it into the finals or the Big Dance, which is the NRL Grand Final.
Why is that the Melbourne Storm has been in the past 7 years, the Melbourne Storm has been a part of
three NRL grand finals where only the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs only been a part of two grand

Ethnic Identity And Cultural Identity
Ethnic identity much like racial identity is difficult to clearly discern and delineate. As a social
construct, it is an umbrella term that mark a group affiliation to a common origin, culture, religion, or
geography; it consists of shared traditions, behaviors, values and beliefs. (Waters, 1990) Outlining the
elements and components of ethnic identity, Phinney and Ong (2007) stress its multidimensionality
and dynamism, it encompasses several cultural, linguistic, behavioral features as well as being
developmental and involving a shifting process. They consider self categorization, commitment, and
sense of attachment to the group as vital constituents of ethnic identity. They show that the process of
ethnic identity formation involves the construction over time of one s sense of self as a group member
and of one s attitudes and understandings associated with group membership (2007, p. 275)
Exploration and commitment are the two head titles in the revised model to measure the formation of
identity across different groups (MEIM R, Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure). The model proposes
a set of questions that capture the individual s overall knowledge, understanding, engagement, sense
of belonging and attachment to the social group.
Minority groups in general have to encounter and deal with two fundamental conflicts due to their
identification with the non dominant group: first, stereotyping and prejudice of the dominating group
which problematize their self image. Second,

What Can I Grow Indoors Essay
Title: What can I Grow Indoors?
Growing produce indoors is a great idea. Whether you lack the outdoor space or want to grow more
than the average amounts, we ll tell you what is possible to grow indoors from fruit and vegetables
such as strawberries to herbs including basil.
Indoor growing Starting small
Starting off small is one of the best things to do when beginning an indoor garden. Not only does this
allow you to grow a few things at once, it also gives green fingered gardeners the chance to discover
what does and doesn t work for them. Some people can seem to grow anything while others tend to
struggle keeping the simplest plants alive!
Find a windowsill or similar area that receives five hours of sunlight or more a day. In order to
photosynthesise plants need sunlight, the key element for any plant to survive. Ensure that there is
enough room for leaves or fruits to grow. Without such expansion there is very little chance of seeing
flowers, fruit or vegetables. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Setting up a bench or workspace for your garden can be beneficial; place the flowers in an area with
linoleum floor to catch the inevitable drops of water. Maybe consider placing tarpaulin under the area.
Almost anything can be grown in a container too!
Temperature
The best temperature for most plants is between 65 75F. A variance of 10F either way can work too. If
a plant is too hot then it will be small and weak while plants that are too cold may have yellow leaves
that fall off.
Humidity
One of the biggest struggles that indoor gardeners face is humidity. Winter tends to be drier than
summer, and if a home is heated this can become a

  • 2. The Chocolate War And An Absolute Diary Of A Part Time Indian When people think about tribalism, they usually associate it with a strong possession of a cultural or ethnical identity. Tribalism can take many forms. For example, it can refer to popular culture in which people are exhibiting loyalty to their social group. Certainly, there are positive and negative perspectives to either side. When reading The Chocolate War and An Absolute Diary of A Part Time Indian, I experienced both sides of tribalism. When, reading An Absolute Diary of A Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie, I saw how the protagonist Arnold was able to gain support from his tribes while discovering strengths inside of himself that he never knew existed. In comparison, I discovered while reading The Chocolate War, by Robert Cormier, the protagonist Jerry had the foundations of support, but it ended up crumbling when he needed the support the most. Why was Arnold able to become an individual while being a member of numerous tribes, when Jerry s tribes didn t support him for being an individual? Jerry, a freshman who comes into Trinity and is able to throw off its balance. He is able to defy the Vigils and that action alone is huge, because no one has ever dared to defy them before because the Vigils are their own tribe at Trinity. Jerry is able to disturb the tribe and almost rally supporters behind him, but it doesn t last very long and Jerry is singled out by the Vigils. Jerry had the football team as his tribe early on before he was assigned to not sell the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Dementia And Alzheimer s Disease I m only sixteen, I am too young to be in a care facility! That is just one of the many things a person with dementia might say. Many patients with dementia lose their memories of growing up and may think they are a child again. Or perhaps they think they are still at home and caring for their families. You could see why some dementia patients may be upset or have behaviors because of this. Not every person with dementia is the same, but most symptoms are similar. In the knowledge of health science there are four different types of dementia which are Vascular Dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia and the Alzheimer s disease. Questions about Dementia may still be unsolved about how this disease was originally derived, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of labeling it Alzheimer s, Dementia differs because it can happen any age. In 2015, the Alzheimer s Disease International estimated that about 46.8 million people worldwide live with dementia and these statistics will most likely double every twenty years. The most rapid growth of dementia in the elderly is currently taking place in China, India and the other surrounding Asian countries due to them being developing countries. Dementia is a chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by a brain disease or injury and marked by memory disorders, personality changes, and impaired reasoning. (Merriam Webster Dictionary). A simpler way to define dementia is that it is a mental illness that causes someone to be unable to think clearly or to understand what is real and what is not real, the Merriam Webster dictionary illustrates. Dementia is the leading illness to the common case of Alzheimer s. Dementia is not a disease, it s an overall term that describes a wide range of symptoms. Dementia isn t a specific disease. Instead, dementia describes a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities severely enough to interfere with daily functioning. (Mayo Clinic Staff). Dementia can best be described as a decline in memory or other thinking skills severe enough to reduce a person s ability to perform everyday activities. People with dementia often forget things, ... • 4. Self Respect Is A Very Powerful Term Neel Bhagat ENG 111 September 09, 2015 Self respect is a very powerful term. Self respect is something that has to be earned; it has to be earned from you for yourself. Self respect has to be learned by oneself, nobody is born with self respect for himself or herself; it s not an instinct. Many people take pride in their sense of self respect. Self respect is a vital part of ones existence. Self respect is developed throughout a persons lifetime through many different experiences and encounters with other people, oneself and society. According to Merriam Webster collegiate dictionary the meaning of self respect is 1: a proper respect of oneself as a human being 2: regard for one s own standing or position . Self respect can come in many shapes and forms. There is no mandated definition for this word. It is all what meaning you make of it. Self respect is essential when it comes to making decisions for one self. The level of self respect you have for yourself determines how good you are at making judgments for yourself and others. Lets say you are going out to dinner with your friends and your friend is a really cheap as a person, and will make the excuse of saying that he forgot his wallet at home and will ask you to cover for him this time and that he will pay you back whenever he sees you next. • 5. The Idea Of Narcissistic Love Another example that frames a negative love through a more narcissistic form of intemperance combined with a necessity (a counterpart to freedom). The contrast of a narcissistic love (an evil love that necessitates tyrannical measures) to a sacrificial love that promotes freedom reinforces the ways in which love is framed as good or evil. The description between the attributes of the gates to the gardens shows these opposing differences. The Book 2, Canto 12, Stanza 43 opens with goodly it was enclosed round about, which immediately gives the sense that this enclosure is not inclusive. Looking at this from an overarching view, Acrasia s love necessitates a rationale to subjugate its guests as opposed to Adonis garden that represents freedom two extremes that constantly exert push and pull forces on one another. In each mirrored stanza their power relations further demonstrates the way frame in which Spenser defines a negative positive love. Accordingly, in Acrasia s garden the line, wisdoms power and temperance s might displays a fear of temperance and wisdom as well as an inability to defend against a justified good love and eke the gate was wrought of substance light / rather for pleasure, then for battery or fight; Spenser frames a bad love as a thin, weak fence that fears a good love s dominant power. Holloway employs a wide variety of found objects such as tree branches, tires, and barbed wire, but also sculptural material such as steel and paper Mache. Holloway incorporates a lot of the figural objects into his sculptures. Small crudely formed faces created with sculptamould which is a material similar to plaster, are often found in his work. Usually adhered to steel rods or peering out from the side of the boxes. Each face is painted to highlight the eyes and mouth, therefore each expresses a certain degree of personality. For the work of 58, this face motif appears repeating itself fifty eight times. The work is part of an ambitious series of one hundred total works that presents a numbered sculpture with the corresponding amount of sculptamould faces easily balanced on steel rods. As of 2013, a number of loosely connected extremist groups including Al Qaeda were in full control of most towns in the northern region. It is estimated that the region that has from time to time fallen under their control is as large as Texas. In as much as the number of insurgent combatants (mainly Islamic) seems to be relatively small, they are now notorious, and have become more entrenched. The seriousness of their entrenchment is boosted by the fact that they have gone as far as ousting a separatist group of ethnic Tuaregs that had initially been very influential, even in recruiting members among locals. Meanwhile, the nominally civilian dominated government (based in the capital Bamako) formed in the post coup period continues to be weakened gradually by continuous internal wrangles and military interference. In addition, years of mega corruption and mismanagement seem to have stagnated progress in many state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In chapters six and seven, West introduces Milton s angelology and examines the choices he makes throughout his literature to maintain a specific representation of the angels and other supernatural subjects. Specifically, West identifies three problems Milton had to overcome in writing Paradise Lost, which involved balancing the need for literary description with the strict, biblical interpretation of angels hailed in Puritanism, deciding which opinions on angelology could be used to truthfully deduce the needed level of description, and broadly, ... My Visit On Chicago Military Academy At Bronzeville My visit to Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville provided an image that the school has been the sight of perceived danger, yet the teachers, such as Mr. Frontera, remain because they care and believe that they can make a difference in the lives of the students they teach. The morning I was attempting to go visit the school got off to a rocky start that would somewhat predict the rest of the day. The principal at Chicago Military Academy at Bronzeville asked me to visit with another class that started forty minutes earlier than the class he had previously asked me to attend. After rushing through my morning routine, I still managed to make it to the school ten minutes after the class started. Rather than interrupt the class, I decided to go to the nearest McDonald s to sit and read until the next class cycle. This was when I first noticed my surroundings. Though it was cold, there seemed to be a lot of guys hanging around on the sidewalks. There were two fast food restaurants that I would not consider healthy food choices. Thomas Hobbes Leviathan Hobbes, in Leviathan, immediately embarks on an ambitious task: not to explain tedious small morals, but rather those qualities of mankind, that concern their living together in peace, and unity (Hobbes, 239). Hobbes asserts that no ultimate goal or greatest good exist; a universal goal in life simply does not exist. Thus, no natural hierarchy can be established with respects to an individual s capacity to achieve this ultimate good i.e. no one person is naturally better than the rest in achieving some virtuous goal because no such goal exists. The alignment of human existence, therefore, is not towards an ultimate good, but rather to avoid the ultimate evil: death. Therefore, the voluntary actions, and inclinations of all men, tend, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although commonly interpreted as being such, the state of nature is not equivalent to everyone acting out of self preservation. The state of nature arises from humans ill perception of what is, in fact, self preservation. While we may wish to act out of self preservation, we often seek to satisfy immediate needs without considering the consequences, thus leading to conflict. Likewise, Hobbes thinks we are often too concerned with others perceptions of ourselves, evident by his discussion of glory as a principle cause of quarrel. Humans ought to follow the laws of self preservation, and thereby ought to endeavor peace, but yet, our shortsightedness prevents us from doing so. An objection may be that there is no strong evidence that shows that self preservation leads to peace. To explain this, I turn to Aristotle and his teleological explanation of human nature. Aristotle believed that the good of human beings must be that at which the activity of living a human life aims at. What would a human life aim at living other than living itself? Self preservation is the excellence that Aristotle valued, and, as Aristotle argued, excellence leads to happiness, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a social construct, it is an umbrella term that mark a group affiliation to a common origin, culture, religion, or geography; it consists of shared traditions, behaviors, values and beliefs. (Waters, 1990) Outlining the elements and components of ethnic identity, Phinney and Ong (2007) stress its multidimensionality and dynamism, it encompasses several cultural, linguistic, behavioral features as well as being developmental and involving a shifting process. They consider self categorization, commitment, and sense of attachment to the group as vital constituents of ethnic identity. They show that the process of ethnic identity formation involves the construction over time of one s sense of self as a group member and of one s attitudes and understandings associated with group membership (2007, p. 275) Exploration and commitment are the two head titles in the revised model to measure the formation of identity across different groups (MEIM R, Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure).
