A - Analyze Learners
1st grade class, Special ed, 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white 20% African-American and 10%
Hispanic.7 students in the class have mild to severe ADHD. Because almost half of them have
ADHD the assignment needs to keep their attention and needs to be physically active.
S - State Objectives
My 1st grade class, Special ed, will memorize the months in order from January to
December with 100 percent accuracy.
S - Select Methods, Media and Materials
Starting out, I would like to have my students listen to songs for a short while dealing
with the months of the year. Then, once they have listened to these songs we will act out the
months of the year related to major holidays or events that happen during those months.
U - Utilize Media and Materials
Before they come into class that morning, I will rearrange the desks to where they will
be able to act out each month. On the projector screen, I will have the month listed, I will say
the month, then act out with them a major event that happens during that month. An example
would be January, this is new years and I could have the kids cheer and say January; another
example would be March, instead of making it complicating, we could just have the children
march in place and say March.
R - Require Learner Participation
Once I feel like they know the months of the year, we can play a game. So I know for
sure they know and understand the months of the year and not just reciting the months, I will
randomly pick a month, then ask what month comes before and after, but while also acting
them out.
E - Evaluate and Revise
Here I will evaluate and revise the class as we are going through the months, I will be
watching which students are participating with confidence and which ones are not. Here I will
be able to see which months during the year we need to work on the most.
