A: My 17 pupils have been analyzed as 10 boys and 7 girls. 70% have been explained as
white. 20% have been explained as African-American. 10% have been explained as
Latino. This makes my class have a small diversity. 7 out of my 17 pupils are students
with mild to severe ADHD.
S: The state objective for the pupils to be identify the months of the year. Every student will
be able to name off the months of the year as well as explain an event that happens within
that month. An event will help develop the months by giving them a chance to make a
connection as to how months differentiate. My pupils will have a 100% degree of
accuracy because this will go on throughout the school year. This makes the accuracy
level have a better chance of being higher as well as giving my pupils the chance to
describe the months to me.
S: My method is to split the months for four weeks. First will be the first three months
(January, February, March) and work on them for a week. Second will be the second set
of three months (April, May, June) and work on them for a week and so on until
December. The media that will be used is computer and multimedia. With the computer, I
can use a video that shows the months with their actions. For example, December would
show Christmas with a tree, Santa, and presents as well as Hanukah with candles.
Materials will be an even better for my pupils to grasp the months. As I like to decorate
for most holidays, materials or decorations will help reiterate the difference between
months.
U: Preview the materials: go over the video to make sure it’s what I actually want and will
benefit for the students
Prepare the material: make sure the video actually works
Prepare the environment: have the material ready to go for them such as speakers for the
video and paper for their calendar
Prepare the learners: start by asking if anyone knows what month it is; this gets the
topic started.

Provide a learning experience: when I’m excited about the material, they will rub off of
my vibe and get them excited
Since some of my pupils are ADHD, I have decided to keep the plan around the idea of
hands-on activity will help them. The hands-on activity will give them the chance to
gather their attention to one activity. First thing will be the video that shows all of the
months of the year. The video will have the months with events representing those
months. For the first week, January will be numbered one. February will be numbered
two, and March will be numbered three. January will be labeled with snow to associate
the two events that the month contains. February will be labeled with hearts as well as
African-Americans to associate two events that the month contains. March will be
labeled with clovers to associate two events that the month contains. With those three
months, we will focus on them for the rest of the week. They will spend the week making
a calendar with the months and specific events. A calendar gives the pupils a chance to
make connections to the months on their own. For example, they can add in their parent’s
birthday or their sibling’s birthday. It gives them the opportunity to draw conclusions by t
themselves while being a fun way of learning the months
April – Easter
May – Cinco De Mayo
June – Father’s Day
July – 4th of July
August – School starts
September – Labor Day
October – Halloween
November – Thanksgiving
December – Christmas and Hanukah
R: As a follow up, the pupils will make art work to display the month that we are currently
in. For example, November will have an art work with a hand turkey. 1st graders love that
their hands can be turned into a turkey. February, the pupils will be able to hearts to
describe the holiday of Valentine’s Day. With in-class activities, a game will be played. It
is a matching game that the pupils can match the month with a picture that corresponds
with that said month.
E: Evaluating before the lesson would give me the chance to make sure my information that
I will use is correct. One way is to have another 1st grade teacher look over my plan. This
will show me if I am on correct path for the grade. Evaluating during the lesson will be
the most important evaluation because it will show if doing my plan is working. When I
ask questions to correspond with the month that we are discussion, they can answer them.
If answering those questions come as a difficult task, I need to rethink my approach to
that month. After the full year of school and half of the students know the months, my
plan will have to be completely modified.
