1. A- I am teaching my first grade class the months of the year. I have 10 boys and 7 girls. The
age group is 6 and 7 year olds. 70% of my class is white, 20% are African American, and
the other 10% are Hispanic.
S- My students will recite, write, or hand gesture the months of the year, depending on their
condition. We will be learning by hands on activities, songs that include dancing and hand
gestures, watching online educational videos, and using labeled building blocks. By the end of
the week I am hoping for 75% or 80% of accuracy from the class.
S- The hands on games we will be playing have to do with sight word cards. The kids will get
in groups and attempt to put the months they are given in order. “The Months of the Year” will
be the song we will sing and dance to. Also, I will have building blocks labeled with the months
of the year for the children to play with at recess and snack time.
U- I will preview/observe my classroom and students to make sure the activities and learning
devices are working as planned. I will set each section of the room into different seasons, and list
the months in that particular season.
R- In the mornings when class starts and the students are settled down, I will start off with
games and songs about the weather, days of the week, and months of the year. I will follow
through with this routine for a solid week. Also, at the end of the day I will have my students get
in a circle on the rug and start off saying the months of the year beginning with January until
December.
E- Before instructions I will have the students seated while I explain the directions carefully.
During instructions I will have the aid and I walk around making sure all eyes and ears are on
me, and making sure my students clearly understand. After I give the final instructions I will
personally walk around and give the students one on one help as needed.
