This document outlines a teaching method called "My Assure Method" for teaching the months of the year to a 1st grade special education class. The class has 10 boys and 7 girls, with the majority being white but also including African American and Hispanic students. Half of the students have ADHD. The method involves analyzing learners, stating objectives, selecting methods and materials, utilizing the materials, requiring learner participation, and evaluating and revising. The specific lesson will have students learn the months of the year through singing a song, making a calendar, and discussing birth months, with the goal of 90% accuracy by the end of the week. Hands-on activities and a song from the internet will be used to engage students.

A- By analyzing my learners, I will notice the different ethnic background in students and
that they will need more hands on activities because half of my students are ADHD.
They are all in 1st
grade. Ethnicity does not have a huge role in learning the 12 months
of the year. Gender can be worked into activities when learning about the 12 months
of the year.
S- My class will enumerate the months of the year after singing a song, making a
calendar, and discussing birthday months in groups by the end of the week with 90%
accuracy.

2. S- By selecting methods, media and materials, I will use the method of a song and
activities like drawing and talking to calm the minds down after the song. My main
use of media is by a song from the internet. The materials used are a computer,
audio, calendar, and paper.
U- To utilize media and materials, I am to look over activities and media to make sure
everything goes as planned. Have the video up, worksheets and paper out for
students. Tell the students what we will be doing and help them sing the song and
complete the activities.
R- By requiring learner presentation, I will have the students get up and sing the song,
then work on making a calendar. After seeing the set-up of the calendar, they will
discuss when their birth month is.
E- Evaluate the presentation and revise where and when activities and learning needs to
happen. Add more activities to help students to learn and keep their attention.
