Civil Rights Reflection Paper
Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice president
Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens: We observe today not a victory of party
but a celebration of freedom––symbolizing an end as well as a beginning––signifying renewal as
well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears
prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago. The world is very different now. For man holds
in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.
And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the
globe––the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand
of God. We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth
from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation
of Americans––born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud
of our ancient heritage––and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights
to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and
around the world. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any
price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival
and the success of

Charles Darwin Accomplishments
Honor is respect that is given to someone who is admired. To me a person who is respected and
admired by others is honorable. Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury,
England. He was a biologist and a scientist. Darwin was the youngest of six children. His dad was a
medical doctor. Charles mom died when he was only eight years old. His grandfather was an
honored scientist as well. Charles Darwin lived a wealthy childhood and loved to explore nature.
His dad want he to become a scientist but Charles did not like the site of blood. At the age of 16 he
enrolled at Edinburgh University. Two years later he enrolled in Christ's College in Cambridge. In
the year 1839 Charles Darwin married his first cousin Emma Wedgwood. ... Show more content on

December 27, 1831. On his journey around the world Darwin was most interested in the Pacific
Island and South America. Charles Darwin returned home to England in 1836. He wrote many
books over his journey explaining his theory. One of his books that he wrote was called "On the
Origin of Species" which he published in 1859. Another one was called "The Voyage of the Beagle".
Those books helped explain his theory of evolution and get the theory out there to the world. .
Discovering the theory of evolution by natural selection was a major accomplishment for Charles
Darwin. Which he was and will be greatly honored for.
Charles Darwin was honored for many things. One of the many things he was honored for was
discovering the theory of evolution by natural selection. He is honored because even though he
knew his ideas would be criticized at that time he still published his finding about his theory. Once
he did that he found someone who had the same ideas has he did. His name was Alfred Wallace.
Together they worked get their theories out to the public and soon accepted. That is why Charles

"A Structural Model of the Relationships Between Sport Website Quality, E–Satisfaction, and E–
Loyalty (2011)" written by Drs. Youngjin Hur, Young Jae Ko, and Joseph Valacich examines if sport
web quality positively correlates with E–Satisfaction and E–Loyalty. In the article, Drs. Hur, Ko,
and Valacich break down what each category mean and how they interact together based on the
cumulative research that the researchers conducted. In the opening of the research article, the
researchers explain their purpose. It is stated, "[t]he purpose of this study was to examine theoretical
relationships between key variables of online sport consumption behavior such as sport consumers'
perceptions of sport website quality, satisfaction, and behavioral loyalty to the websites"(Hur, Ko, &
Valacich, 2011, p.458).To simply reiterate, the researchers are stating that if a consumer likes a
particular layout or amount of information (quality) of a particular website that the consumer is
visiting, the consumer will return to the website due to being satisfied with the quality and
information being provided to the consumer by the website. However, before the researchers could
come to a direct conclusion about Sport Web Quality and its correlation to E–Satisfaction and E–
Loyalty, the doctors constructed hypotheses that would help guide and structure the research.

influencing the way people think, act, and feel. People such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was a
pioneer in the civil rights movement, helped lead a community of people who were oppressed gain
civil liberties. Gloria Steinem helped catapult the women's liberation movement, and Mother
Theresa who was known for her humanitarian work and advocacy, brought awareness to the plight

Though the skills I have acquired in working for these corporations have proven to be useful in
different settings, overall I have not been satisfied working in corporate America. My many years of
working for private corporations have simply been unfulfilling. I am the kind of person that needs to
feel gratified by the work that I do. For me, that means working as a professional in the public
sector, so in 2013 I decided to return to graduate school to further my education. I wanted to obtain a
degree that would allow me to combine my passion for public service and my acumen for business
management. In June 2015, I completed my graduate degree in public administration from Seattle
University.
This degree has afforded me the credentials to apply for the Presidential Management Fellows
(PMF) Program to jumpstart my professional career in the field of public service and I could not be
more thankful for the opportunity.
2) How have you demonstrated your commitment to public service?
Throughout the years I have demonstrated my commitment to public service by giving back to the

Health Psychology Chapter Summary
The aim of the Week 3 lecture by Dr Amanda Rebar (Rebar, 2015) was to introduce and discuss the
benefits of different pathways available for students, interested in pursuing PHD research or
Academia careers.
Dr Rebar (Rebar, 2015) began the lecture by giving students a detailed overview of Health
Psychology and what inspired her to the particular field. She spoke of the range within the Health
Psychology discipline that encompassed prevention behaviours, treatment effectiveness and
physical/ mental illness. The latest Health Psychology research and current studies being published
in the edition of Health Psychology were also discussed with students.
Within the lecture Dr Rebar (Rebar, 2015), comprehensively discussed her past research, experience
and the psychological study path that lead her to CQU. From early in her undergraduate career, Dr
Rebar (Rebar, 2015) started conducting and participating in research programs. Her advice to all
students within the lecture, was the students that wanted to pursue a PHD in either research or as an
academic in the future, they needed to start making plans now. Dr Rebar (Rebar, 2015), also advised
that being involved with the research projects that CQU offered, gained students much needed
experience to propel and facilitate their academic future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

needed to have published at least five papers by the end of their undergraduate degree. Dr Rebar's

Langston Hughes's Poem: Dive For Dreams By E. E. Cummings
1. Compared to Langston Hughes, how are e.e. cummings's thoughts about dreams different?
Langston Hughes and e.e. cumming's both wrote a powerful poem about dreams, although they both
have the same topic they appear to be different in meaning. I believe that in Hughes poem he was
addressing that dreams are what makes you who you are, however in cummings poem it seemed like
dreams allow you to be who you want to be. Langston Hughes wrote the poem, Dreams, to tell the
reader to hold onto your dreams, even when things in life can get hard, because without them, your
life would be incomplete. e.e. cummings's poem, Dive for Dreams, has a different approach. This
piece of poetry is a way to get the reader motivated, to inspire them, and give them ... Show more

E.E. Cummings is known for his unique use of diction, using nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs
as nouns. What examples can you find in this poem? In the poem, "[i carry you in my heart(i carry it
in]" cummings followed a nontraditional form of writing when creating his own "grammar rules"
with punctuation, capitalization, spacing and pacing. I think that the main purpose of this and his
reasoning behind it to diversify the meaning and generality of his poem. I think he was trying to be
unique, and different while applying his own individual creativity through writing. For example, he
uses a unique form of diction in stanza one when he says, "and whatever is done by only me is your
doing,my darling." Normally, this would not be worded the way it is, the sentence structure would
be stronger and would flow better, however cummings still was able to apply meaning to that line by
saying that everything he is and everything he has is because of his love. He also uses nouns in a
distinctive way. For instance, he says in stanza three, "which grows higher than soul can hope or
mind can hide." Soul in this cause would already be considered a noun, however, he is rather using it
more of a possession of his own. Cummings has a weird way of placing things within this poem. In
most poems, everything is aligned to the left and follows down to the next line but in this poem the
start of the second stanza, "i fear" is aligned all the way to the right. I think the purpose of this is to
emphasize the fear, he is describing how strong his love is for this person but with love comes fear.
By using these different forms of language and his uniqueness of grammar he was able to be
different and find a new way for the reader to understand the power within his

Charles Dickens And The Victorian Era
During the Victorian Era many people greatly helped shape the future trough their deeds of heroism
and courage, some of these people include Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale, Benjamin Disraeli,
Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and Charles Dickens. These people not only helped to shape the
Victorian Era, but also created many things we still use today. Some important scientists include
Charles Darwin, and Alexander Bell. Without these scientists we might not have some of the basic
necessities of the modern day. Now you might be wondering to yourself what these ladies and
gentlemen did to be so important? After reading this you are going to understand what contributions
they made to the world that made them famous. Queen Victoria was born May 24, 1819. She was
the granddaughter of George III, and her father, Edward was fourth in line to the throne. She was
born into a royal family and had impeccable blood lines. When the Prince of Wales died early, his
brothers sought to get married in order to maintain the line of succession so that no other families
could get power in the kingdom.
Edward married Princess Victoria from Germany and the couple had just one child. Her name was
Alexandrina Victoria, who was born at Kensington Palace in 1819. As a young girl, Victoria's father
died, followed 6 days later by King George III. The throne then passed to King William IV, but, he
too died early. This left Victoria to be crowned at the age of 18, in June 1837. She was to reign until

A Historical Background On Science And Mathematics
Time and again, when referring to a historical background of a topic in science or math, we have
been exposed to only a handful of key figures and even fewer notable events without any social or
cultural context behind it. Such details are often overlooked and taught without the perspective of
the era and why it occurred at the time. There maybe several reasons for such dismissal. Within the
STEAM subjects, especially science and mathematics, the content strives to be empirical and
concrete without influence of culture, race, gender or era in time. It maybe useful to only highlight
few historical figures and events to maximize time in knowledge content. However, often times, the
analysis of historical context and how or why the events ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By exploring the interactions of Newton with his colleagues about his ideas and Darwin's letters to
Lyell and his grandfather's influence in theory of evolution, this essay will attempt to demonstrate
that lone geniuses in science history are illusions to make up for a good story to tell to engage
students in class. Even during his time, Isaac Newton was recognized and greatly respected by
people within various scholarly fields. Alexander Pope claimed Newton as the light to the dark and
mysteriousness laws of nature in his poem. (1 Pg. 161) However, it is rarely glorified that Newton
was not a distinguished scholar when he was younger, except in mathematics, and as an adult, he
had diverse interests, such as alchemy, and theology. As a scientist, Newton's ideas were discussed,
criticized and appreciated constantly within the scientific societies of the time. Edmund Halley, the
discover of comet and Newton's colleague, communicated about elliptical orbits and angular
momentum of planets with Newton (Pg137). This made Newton questions his own theories about
planetary motion and thus eventually lead him to publish 'Philosophiae Nauturalis Principia
Mathematica". In the book, he structured his argument to disprove Descartes' theory and referred to
Galileo's work to explain universal gravitation. The incorporation of previous

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy's Adgural Address
John F. Kennedy's inaugural address was a carefully composed speech, that conveyed the primary
goals of the incoming president in a convincing way. It is important for the president to have a
strong inaugural address, because it informs the people of one's intentions as president. In order for
President Kennedy's address to be effective, he uses rhetorical strategies. Through the use of
rhetorical strategies, President Kennedy supports his objectives with reason and logic to appeal to
the people's desire for security and structure. He also alludes to his good character to make the
people feel safe and trust him to guide them. In the address, President Kennedy uses emotion to
make a connection with the people, this makes him seem more relatable and connected to the
people. These are strategies used in an attempt to persuade the audience to trust President Kennedy.
In President Kennedy's inaugural address, he convincingly conveys his message to his audience,
through the use of rhetorical devices. The use of anaphoras allow President Kennedy to stress his
message by repeating a word at the beginning of successive clauses. This helps to emphasize his
point to the audience. For example, President Kennedy uses an anaphora to express the importance
of bringing both sides together, and having them work together for the benefit of the country and its
citizens. "Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which
divide us. Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the
inspection and control of arms––and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the
absolute control of all nations. Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its
terrors"(Address). Kennedy also starts a series of paragraphs with "To those." This allows Kennedy
to personally address the people he will be working with during his presidency, by making specific
promises to them. It helps to create a personal bond with citizens, and other countries. This is
important because if people trust the President, the President will be more likely to achieve his
goals. As well as anaphoras, President Kennedy uses hyperphoria to gain the trust

Ethics are moral principles of doing what is right. It should be a foremost concern when carrying out
research and experiments. There are past examples of where failure to adhere to ethical research has
led to inhumane cases such as the Tuskegee syphilis experiment. Cacioppo, J. T., & Freberg, L. A.
(2013) states: Researchers from the U.S. Public Health Service recruited about 400 impoverished
African American men who had contracted syphilis to study the progression of the disease. None of
the men was told he had syphilis, and none was treated, even though penicillin became the standard
treatment for syphilis in 1947 (pg 80). Safety and health should be a concern of researchers

Isaac Newton's Two Thousand Years Of Why?
Two Hundred Thousand Years of "Why?"
It is only natural for young children to ask big questions. Questions that we ourselves are unable to
answer. There is no worse feeling than telling a child the that you don't know something or
admitting to someone else that you don't know the answer. Children are born curious. Have you seen
kids plucking petals from flowers, turning over rocks, and playing with eggs? Thats is their curiosity
of the natural world at work. People spend the first year of their lives teaching their children to walk
and talk and the rest of their lives telling them to shut up and sit down. The best thing to do to get
children interested in science is simple. Get out of their way. Give them tools to help them explore.

If we raise a generation of children who are scientifically illiterate, we aren't going to have the

exposed to scientific facts and to be encouraged to go down whatever career path they choose,
whether that path involves science or not. As theories are made, questions are answered. For every
question answered, more questions emerge from that answer, like a hydra, cut off a head and two

To Lacan, there is always a sense of menace about the gaze of the intruder, although one has to
wonder, what is the source of this menace? Kripps (2010) pinpoints that the feeling of menace as the
acknowledgement of power distribution within the social sphere. I would go further than this, I
would call it guilt. Through recognizing their potential to be objectified, both Sartre and Lacan felt
guilt about acknowledging their ability to objectify anything within their respective fields of vision.
This is what Bryson (1988) refers to as the "Politics of Vision", which he describes as the ways in
which "power uses the social construct of vision".
Bryson also offers within his essay an alternative theory to that of Sartre and Lacan. This
perspective comes from Keiji Nishitani (cited in Bryson, 1988), whose book "Religion and
Nothingness" is largely based on the criticism of Sartre 's ideas of subject as central to the field of
vision, and the perceived threat from the intruder. Nishitani argues for radical impermanence; that
the object is what it is only in relation to other objects and that the perceived qualities of the object
are impermanent. All objects are in a constant state of growth and decay and they all change
depending on their environments. Furthermore, the only way to stabilize an object would be to blank
out the entire universe around it. Both subject and object rely on each other to

Story Of An Hour Symbolism Analysis
Symbolism was very present in Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour." Chopin was able to
symbolize the locked room to Mrs. Mallard's trapped marriage, and also the open window to the
freedom that she had gained after her husband's death. Chopin was able to help the readers visualize
the word "freedom" by comparing it to the window that had been opened before Mrs. Mallard came
into the room. The locked room was a comparison to her marriage which helped the readers get a
sense of what marriage felt like for Mrs. Mallard.
The writing style and the syntax for "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid were basically one to two long
sentences. Not only that, but Kincaid had all independent clauses throughout the whole story. Now,
this may have been a coincidence or it may have been a hidden concept of showing how women
secretly seek for independence, which led her to write her whole story based on independent
clauses. Kincaid's writing style also set an authoritative tone for the readers by making the whole
story sound as if it was a checklist of chores for women, which was probably her goal.
For the story "Sticks' by George Saunders, the most important literary device Saunders focused on is
having a constant setting. Saunder's says in the end how his inspiration to write this story was based

Why do people do research? People research to find out facts and information, solutions to
problems, and instructions on how to do things better. It can be a great and useful tool, but you have
to be really careful of the sources you use because not all sources are credible. Doing research gives
you a chance to pursue your interests, to learn new things, develop your problem–solving skills, and
to find new ways to challenge yourself. Working on a research project with fellow coworkers gives

Why Poor Children Are More Likely To Become Poor Readers
Why poor children are more likely to become poor readers: the early years by Jennifer
Buckingham*, Robyn Beaman and Kevin Wheldall. In this literature, they discuss low socio–
economic disadvantage and poor early literacy. "Children from disadvantaged families are less
likely to have experiences that encourage the development of fundamental skills for reading
acquisition, specifically phonological awareness, vocabulary and oral language." "The relationship
between socio–economic disadvantage and poor reading ability is one of the most enduring
problems in education. Socio–economic disadvantage is a relative concept referring to low socio–
economic status, which is usually defined by income, occupation, education, or any combination of
these. (Beaman, Buckingham, and Wheldall 428). This analytical proves and evaluates elements in

People must have the same question I have. Why Hooke is writing to a person who is an expert of

different kinds of field instead of just one field, so all kinds of scientist actually discuss about all
problems together. For example, Christopher Wren is well known as an architect, but he used to

Hooke can take advantage of the Royal society, since he is the only expert and other fellows like

the letter's contents is basically about how Hooke is criticizing the telescope made by Hevelius, at

The Importance Of Animal Communication
Ever since the scientific community came to the conclusion that animals can communicate, new
questions on the function of animal signals arouse. Scientists wondered whether when animals
communicate they do it in order to manipulate one another or to inform each other. Through
extensive research over the years, scientist continue to be divided; many believe that the function of
the animal signals is simply to manipulate while others believe that when animals communicate,
they do it in order to inform. In reality, both sides of the argument are correct as communication
without manipulation or information would be pointless.
One of the functions of animal communication is to inform. As Jack P. Hailman (2008) states,
"Communication is fundamentally a "stand for" process for transferring information from a sender
to a receiver." Hailman uses this to propose that animals transfer information when they
communicate. Similarly Owings, D. H. and E. S Morton (1998) quote from Green and Marler (1979,

Who Is Rimbaud?
When I became "serious" about writing poetry around the age of fifteen, I thought it was only a
matter of time before I was discovered for the genius I was. My example was Rimbaud, the
visionary French poet, discovered in his teens, celebrated by the literati of his time, some of whom
–– literally –– fell in love with him; one of them even shot him in a pique of passion. Rimbaud's
light burned bright, he took Paris by storm, seized his world and made it his oyster, set it on fire, and
painted it red.
Almost as quickly as he ascended, Rimbaud burned out. Fame and adulation wasn't worth the price
of his vision. He gave up poetry, left Paris, ran guns in Ethiopia, imported coffee, and became a
legend. His works are still read today. Works of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I even had a "one–man show" in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1986 – albeit, in a booth I purchased at an art
street fair. Preparing for that show killed my interest in painting, although I still have a handful of
them. (Three of my paintings hang in our Brooklyn house because my wife and kids and an art
framer friend thought them worthy.)
There was an earth sculpture wherein I moved a pile of dirt from one location to another, an
installation in a field behind a friends farmhouse made from discarded plumbing fixtures and farm
machinery, and a performance art piece in a gallery in Cooperstown, NY, that featured a mime,
Jacques Cousteau, and Harry Belafonte in a surrealistic dream–of–consciousness dialogue poem. If I
wasn't a genius, who was?
By the end of the decade, I had a few poems in magazines, was part of the Hoboken poetry scene at
Maxwell's and Café Elysian, and self–published several chapbooks of my poems under the l'etoiluna
press. With a few friends, I started a writing group called the Decompositionalists – our work was
decomposing rather than composing, like the society around us. (Deep, man.)
The common denominator of the work I produced back then? It sucked. I was neither a genius nor a
savant about to be discovered by a patron and rocketed to fame and fortune. I'd fooled myself into
thinking I was what David Galenson calls a "conceptual innovator."
Would that I'd

West Point Crew Team Case Study
Faced with an unfamiliar problem, Coach P, of the West Point Crew team, had a JV boat that was
consistently outperforming the Varsity team on different measures. Upon preliminary analysis, it
appears that the problem is simple: the selection of the varsity team was flawed and many of the
athletes were misjudged and subsequently misplaced. However, the coach analyzed this possible
flaw through seat races and even decided to demote varsity rowers to the JV team and JV rowers to
the varsity team; the unlikely outcome was that the JV boat would win by even more, meaning that
the demoted rower actually made the JV boat faster. This unlikely outcome revealed a deeper flaw
within the Varsity team's attitudes and motivations that sharply contrasted with those of the Junior
Varsity team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Varsity rowers attributed their failures to external factors, while underestimating the contribution of
internal factors; rowers would not only blame each other, but blame the coach for making them race
against the JV team so often. Though the Varsity team had the most physically capable rowers, their
motivation and group cohesion was virtually non–existent. Though Coach P tried to create group
cohesion through the email initiative, he did not try to fix the problems at its core. There are many
possible solutions, however, it is clear that switching rowers and boats altogether would be
detrimental to the entire team, especially so late into the season. Only by analyzing motivational
concepts and incorporating them into a solution, can the Varsity team unlock its true

Bill T. Jones
Our politicians toss around the term "the American Dream" loosely these days, but Bill T. Jones has
lived that dream. Sometimes the dream has seemed more like a nightmare, but the larger arc of his
life looks triumphant, a genuine fulfillment of American striving and ambition, very much in the
real, waking world. Bill T. Jones, byname of William Tass Jones, born February 15, 1952, Steuben
county, New York, U.S., American choreographer and dancer who, with Arnie Zane, created the Bill
T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company.

another member of the company, Jones (who was also diagnosed as HIV–positive) created some of
his most powerful works, including Last Supper at Uncle Tom's Cabin/The Promised Land (1990)

race: "I would make a work that articulated all the questions that I have lived with. I would speak in
a voice that was decidedly African–American." His vision of the work as founded in an exploration
of black history was developed and enacted by a multiracial company that included several guest
artists, suggesting that the notion of "black history" is one that is necessarily bound up with other
histories and can be located in unlikely archives. The company included Arthur Aviles, Leonard
Cruz, Seán Curran, Lawrence Goldhuber, Gregg Hubbard, Heidi Latsky, Betsy McCracken, Maya

Personal Reflection
My work ethic and my ability to fulfill my commitments shows how much of a dedicated and hard–
working person I am, in terms of achieving my goals. Academically, I have been set on a course of
facing on challenges to overcome. Since childhood, I have been placed in the Gifted and Talented
program where my peers and I took advanced and honors courses, in which we would focus on
rigorous and tough tasks; due to my effort, I was consistently one of the top students in my classes.
However, when I entered Bronx Science, I realized that I would have to put even more effort in
order to stay on top of all my classes and continue to do well. Sophomore had hit me hard, taking
two AP classes, one honors, and one biology research class, but receiving relatively well grades by
the end of both semesters had shown that I worked hard throughout all year in order to succeed and
achieve my goals of being exceptional in my academic career. My extracurricular activities
additionally demonstrate my determination, work ethic, and ability to fulfill commitments. Starting
in June 2015, I worked as an intern at the Jackson Heights branch of Khan's Tutorial, a medium–
sized tutoring and mentorship academy. I initially planned to only intern for the summer, in which I
would aid instructors, grade papers and homework, and do other simple administrative duties.

Sociological Research: The Ethical Use Of Human Experiments
The use of human experiments in sociology is controversial for many reasons, mainly due to ethical
concerns. Human experimentation, as done in the 1960s and earlier was highly unethical and at most
times presented some form of danger to the test subjects. During that time and before the thirst for
knowledge about human behavior superseded the concern for safety. Sociologists and researchers
then would often subject the participants to harmful variables that had lasting physical or mental
effects. Other times participants were not made fully aware of the experiment or the researcher's'
true motives. Many of these experiments violated basic human rights. For example, the study done

Analysis Of Leslie Marmon Silko's The Man To Send Rain Clouds
In "The Man to Send Rain Clouds," and "One Holy Night," Leslie Marmon Silko and Sandra
Cisneros discuss the traditions and myths of their cultures. Silko states her beliefs in the rituals or
ceremonies that her culture performs when one of her own has passed on. On the other hand,
Cisneros explains the struggles of being a teenage girl of another culture in American society. While
both writers agree that keeping their traditions and myths alive is important, Silko's story of Native
American rituals gives awareness on the tradition in the pueblo world that even in modern times
they practice, Unlike Cisneros, who's story of an unplanned teenage pregnancy after a short–term
relationship with a man she barely knew, surveys what can be believed either an unfortunate or
simply a typical tradition that all teenagers are in a personal phase of rebellion against people of
parental authority, and often end up wanting to experiment with other cultures or figurative patterns
of behavior, to interchange the traditions they were raised with.
In "The Man to Send Rain Clouds," Leslie Marmon Silko shows the cultural divide between Native
Americans and the priest in the story. In the priests world only god can send rain clouds but in the
Native world it's the next man's duty to speak to the cloud people and ask them to create rain for the
living. In this story the characters have a power struggle between the Native world and the white
world. The struggle has changed into a problem not of

As a service coordinator, it is our job to provide support, coaching, referrals, and resources needed
so that the family and children involved in EI are able to achieve their outcomes and successfully
function once discharged out of Early Intervention. Although I am only beginning my journey as a
service coordinator, I have been assigned to work with over 40 families of different incomes, races,

families of oppressed populations. In my own personal experience as a member of a minority

development and the importance of intervening as soon as possible. For that reason, I try my best to

early intervention through the department of children youth and families. Families involved in dcyf
are often experiencing many difficult circumstances including no housing, mental illness, domestic
abuse and many others. These circumstances often leave families feeling vulnerable, helpless, and
without options. It is especially crucial and important to provide support and guidance to help

Reflection On Dirac Theory
After the Shanghai trip, I felt charged and refreshed ready to tackle the most important project in my
life. While I buried myself in a deep pile of monographs related to quantum field theory and Dirac
Theory, Ying, on the other hand, worked on a more practical front. After several months' hard work,
he was able to tie things together and ready to go on with the most critical stage in his program – to
perform the experiment. "I hope my balance will push the measurement of the gravitational constant
G into a new high," he said at our usual evening stroll. "Is it going to be a knockout?" "I hope so,"
said he with a firm tone. "But more important objective for me is will get my degree in the shortest
time among all the current graduates in the lab." "Why rush? You started your Ph.D. less than one–
and–an–half–year ago not counting the first half–year you had been here. As your project going
well, I am sure you will." "I need to finish the experiment soon. This Sunday I can show you how
my balance works." I was almost as excited as Ying was. But the moment of truth was yet to come,
as he performed the experiment. After that, computations, calibrations of the result would tell if the
project was a success or a failure. Anxiety in our works took over our lives, and everything else
stopped its existence. Sundays were a good time – with fewer people in the lab, there was less
chance of disturbing for the procedure. On Sunday morning I accompanied Ying to the lab. He had

The World Is Not A Victory Of Freedom
We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom––symbolizing an end as well
as a beginning––signifying renewal as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty
God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago. The
world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of
human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our
forebears fought are still at issue around the globe––the belief that the rights of man come not from
the generosity of the state but from the hand of God. We dare not forget today that we are the heirs
of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that
the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans––born in this century, tempered by war,
disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage––and unwilling to witness or
permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and
to which we are committed today at home and around the world. Let every nation know, whether it
wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any
friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge––and
more. To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of
faithful friends.

topics ranging from GIS to geomorphology to a field course that involves a ten–day trip to Death

the privilege to join a research project with a fellow student and her advisor, Professor Alan Werner.
Conducted through Harvard Forest, her project assesses the change in stratigraphy within sediment
cores in Marblehead, Massachusetts. I am responsible for using her previously gathered XRF–
scanner data to determine the paleoclimate immediately following the glacial maximum about
14,000 years ago. I also have access to data showing the core's magnetic susceptibility and organic

elements, associated with a marine setting, that are present in these sediment cores. My primary
objective is to determine whether or not this area of Massachusetts is a continuation of the
Presumpscot Formation in Maine. From this experience, I have gained knowledge in data analysis
and how to write a scientific report describing my findings in the data and what they mean for

Persuasive Essay On Respect In Society
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for
your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what,
together, we can do for the freedom of man", states the revered and sound late President Kennedy, a
man who truly believed in the cruciality of respect within and for the nation one inhabits. A society
is not only the making up a community, but it is a factor reflecting the ideals of justice, morality, and
the overall character of every individual within the given society. Without respect, without
consideration for the greater good, there is simply no reasonable possibility of a prospering and
flourishing society ever emerging. In this current world one experiences day in and day out, the
slaughtering of the innocent, the unrelenting violence, the angst between races, and the lack of
integrity all influence the declining of our once thriving nation, therefore causing a termination to
the aspects of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Within the last year, if one were to access
any form of news media, more than half of the material displayed would include one of the three
following topics: terrorism, massacre, death. In correlation to the definition of respect, a feeling of
deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements,
those three topics do not seem to elicit one's pride and devotion to bettering

Termite-Hunting Ants Megaponera Analysis
NPR published an article about the termite–hunting ants Megaponera analis on April 12th, and I
decided to compare how well their piece summarized the original scientific journal's findings.
Through reading both articles I have come to the conclusion that NPR summary of the scientific
journal is quite vague. The entirety of the NPR article had very little information about the scientific
journals findings. In my opinion there were more deficits in this article rather than benefits that
showed the true scope of the study. I understand that it is aimed at an audience much different that
the scientific journal but I still believe it is far too simplistic. However, there were a few benefits
that helped to capture the original research journals findings.
One of these benefits include their inclusion of the information about what type of ant Megaponera
analis is and how these ants march out in the search of food. Another benefit could be how the
article describes how these ants were carrying their own kind as well as termites. Lastly, this article
includes the backstory as who why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

else. Within this article, I also see a hint of anthropomorphism when they compare these ants to
something a solider in a war would do. They also talk about the empathy that these ants may be

Comparing the Loss of Innocence in Cullen's Incident and...
Loss of Innocence in Cullen's Incident and Naylor's Mommy, What Does "Nigger" Mean?
Unfortunately, a question that many African Americans have to ask in childhood is "Mommy, what
does nigger mean?," and the answer to this question depicts the racism that still thrives in America
(345). Both Gloria Naylor's "'Mommy, What Does "Nigger" Mean?'" and Countee Cullen's
"Incident" demonstrate how a word like "nigger" destroys a child's innocence and initiates the child
into a world of racism. Though the situations provoking the racial slur differ, the word "nigger" has
the same effect on the young Naylor and the child in Cullen's poem. A racist society devours the
white children's innocence, and, consequently, the white children embody ... Show more content on

Unlike Naylor, Cullen never identifies the sex of the black child in his poem. Perhaps Cullen renders
the child in his poem genderless to give the child a more universal standing; perhaps he leaves the
child genderless in order to focus on the more important fact that the child, whether male or female,
sees no difference between him– or herself and the other boy until the "Baltimorean" boy calls
him/her "nigger" (3).
Both Cullen and Naylor add "color" to the description of the children with this single racial epithet.
The white children's use of the word "nigger" establishes a distinction between them and the black
children in Naylor and Cullen's works which embodies the essence of racism. This distinction forces
the young Naylor and the child in Cullen's poem to see beyond their innocence and to see
themselves and their world in new colors: black and white. Both Naylor and Cullen touch on an
important issue by noting that the first incident of racism for the black children, occurring when the
white children call them "nigger," takes place between two children. The fact that the white boys
call the young Naylor and the child in Cullen's poem "nigger" at such a young age reflects the
unfortunate truth that America teaches color boundaries and racism at a young age. The word
"nigger" does not exist in white children's vocabulary at birth. Rather, their parents and community
teach them the word and pass down the legacy of racism as if it is an

Civil Rights Reflection Paper

  • 1. Civil Rights Reflection Paper Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice president Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens: We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom––symbolizing an end as well as a beginning––signifying renewal as well as change. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of ... She spoke of the range within the Health Psychology discipline that encompassed prevention behaviours, treatment effectiveness and physical/ mental illness. The latest Health Psychology research and current studies being published in the edition of Health Psychology were also discussed with students. Within the lecture Dr Rebar (Rebar, 2015), comprehensively discussed her past research, experience and the psychological study path that lead her to CQU. From early in her undergraduate career, Dr Rebar (Rebar, 2015) started conducting and participating in research programs. Her advice to all students within the lecture, was the students that wanted to pursue a PHD in either research or as an academic in the future, they needed to start making plans now. Dr Rebar (Rebar, 2015), also advised that being involved with the research projects that CQU offered, gained students much needed experience to propel and facilitate their academic future. ... • 13. Langston Hughes's Poem: Dive For Dreams By E. E. Cummings 1. Compared to Langston Hughes, how are e.e. cummings's thoughts about dreams different? Langston Hughes and e.e. cumming's both wrote a powerful poem about dreams, although they both have the same topic they appear to be different in meaning. I believe that in Hughes poem he was addressing that dreams are what makes you who you are, however in cummings poem it seemed like dreams allow you to be who you want to be. Langston Hughes wrote the poem, Dreams, to tell the reader to hold onto your dreams, even when things in life can get hard, because without them, your life would be incomplete. e.e. cummings's poem, Dive for Dreams, has a different approach. This piece of poetry is a way to get the reader motivated, to inspire them, and give them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... E.E. Cummings is known for his unique use of diction, using nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs as nouns. What examples can you find in this poem? In the poem, "[i carry you in my heart(i carry it in]" cummings followed a nontraditional form of writing when creating his own "grammar rules" with punctuation, capitalization, spacing and pacing. I think that the main purpose of this and his reasoning behind it to diversify the meaning and generality of his poem. I think he was trying to be unique, and different while applying his own individual creativity through writing. For example, he uses a unique form of diction in stanza one when he says, "and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling." Normally, this would not be worded the way it is, the sentence structure would be stronger and would flow better, however cummings still was able to apply meaning to that line by saying that everything he is and everything he has is because of his love. He also uses nouns in a distinctive way. For instance, he says in stanza three, "which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide." Soul in this cause would already be considered a noun, however, he is rather using it more of a possession of his own. Cummings has a weird way of placing things within this poem. In most poems, everything is aligned to the left and follows down to the next line but in this poem the start of the second stanza, "i fear" is aligned all the way to the right. I think the purpose of this is to emphasize the fear, he is describing how strong his love is for this person but with love comes fear. By using these different forms of language and his uniqueness of grammar he was able to be different and find a new way for the reader to understand the power within his ... • 15. Charles Dickens And The Victorian Era During the Victorian Era many people greatly helped shape the future trough their deeds of heroism and courage, some of these people include Queen Victoria, Florence Nightingale, Benjamin Disraeli, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and Charles Dickens. These people not only helped to shape the Victorian Era, but also created many things we still use today. Some important scientists include Charles Darwin, and Alexander Bell. Without these scientists we might not have some of the basic necessities of the modern day. Now you might be wondering to yourself what these ladies and gentlemen did to be so important? After reading this you are going to understand what contributions they made to the world that made them famous. Queen Victoria was born May 24, 1819. She was the granddaughter of George III, and her father, Edward was fourth in line to the throne. She was born into a royal family and had impeccable blood lines. When the Prince of Wales died early, his brothers sought to get married in order to maintain the line of succession so that no other families could get power in the kingdom. Edward married Princess Victoria from Germany and the couple had just one child. Her name was Alexandrina Victoria, who was born at Kensington Palace in 1819. As a young girl, Victoria's father died, followed 6 days later by King George III. The throne then passed to King William IV, but, he too died early. This left Victoria to be crowned at the age of 18, in June 1837. She was to reign until her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Historical Background On Science And Mathematics Time and again, when referring to a historical background of a topic in science or math, we have been exposed to only a handful of key figures and even fewer notable events without any social or cultural context behind it. Such details are often overlooked and taught without the perspective of the era and why it occurred at the time. There maybe several reasons for such dismissal. Within the STEAM subjects, especially science and mathematics, the content strives to be empirical and concrete without influence of culture, race, gender or era in time. It maybe useful to only highlight few historical figures and events to maximize time in knowledge content. However, often times, the analysis of historical context and how or why the events ... By exploring the interactions of Newton with his colleagues about his ideas and Darwin's letters to Lyell and his grandfather's influence in theory of evolution, this essay will attempt to demonstrate that lone geniuses in science history are illusions to make up for a good story to tell to engage students in class. Even during his time, Isaac Newton was recognized and greatly respected by people within various scholarly fields. Alexander Pope claimed Newton as the light to the dark and mysteriousness laws of nature in his poem. (1 Pg. 161) However, it is rarely glorified that Newton was not a distinguished scholar when he was younger, except in mathematics, and as an adult, he had diverse interests, such as alchemy, and theology. As a scientist, Newton's ideas were discussed, criticized and appreciated constantly within the scientific societies of the time. Edmund Halley, the discover of comet and Newton's colleague, communicated about elliptical orbits and angular momentum of planets with Newton (Pg137). This made Newton questions his own theories about planetary motion and thus eventually lead him to publish 'Philosophiae Nauturalis Principia Mathematica". In the book, he structured his argument to disprove Descartes' theory and referred to Galileo's work to explain universal gravitation. The incorporation of previous ... • 19. Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy's Adgural Address John F. Kennedy's inaugural address was a carefully composed speech, that conveyed the primary goals of the incoming president in a convincing way. It is important for the president to have a strong inaugural address, because it informs the people of one's intentions as president. In order for President Kennedy's address to be effective, he uses rhetorical strategies. Through the use of rhetorical strategies, President Kennedy supports his objectives with reason and logic to appeal to the people's desire for security and structure. He also alludes to his good character to make the people feel safe and trust him to guide them. In the address, President Kennedy uses emotion to make a connection with the people, this makes him seem more relatable and connected to the people. These are strategies used in an attempt to persuade the audience to trust President Kennedy. In President Kennedy's inaugural address, he convincingly conveys his message to his audience, through the use of rhetorical devices. The use of anaphoras allow President Kennedy to stress his message by repeating a word at the beginning of successive clauses. This helps to emphasize his point to the audience. For example, President Kennedy uses an anaphora to express the importance of bringing both sides together, and having them work together for the benefit of the country and its citizens. "Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belaboring those problems which divide us. Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms––and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations. Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors"(Address). Kennedy also starts a series of paragraphs with "To those." This allows Kennedy to personally address the people he will be working with during his presidency, by making specific promises to them. It helps to create a personal bond with citizens, and other countries. This is important because if people trust the President, the President will be more likely to achieve his goals. As well as anaphoras, President Kennedy uses hyperphoria to gain the trust ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To Lacan, there is always a sense of menace about the gaze of the intruder, although one has to wonder, what is the source of this menace? Kripps (2010) pinpoints that the feeling of menace as the acknowledgement of power distribution within the social sphere. I would go further than this, I would call it guilt. Through recognizing their potential to be objectified, both Sartre and Lacan felt guilt about acknowledging their ability to objectify anything within their respective fields of vision. This is what Bryson (1988) refers to as the "Politics of Vision", which he describes as the ways in which "power uses the social construct of vision". Bryson also offers within his essay an alternative theory to that of Sartre and Lacan. This perspective comes from Keiji Nishitani (cited in Bryson, 1988), whose book "Religion and Nothingness" is largely based on the criticism of Sartre 's ideas of subject as central to the field of vision, and the perceived threat from the intruder. Nishitani argues for radical impermanence; that the object is what it is only in relation to other objects and that the perceived qualities of the object are impermanent. All objects are in a constant state of growth and decay and they all change depending on their environments. Furthermore, the only way to stabilize an object would be to blank out the entire universe around it. Both subject and object rely on each other to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Story Of An Hour Symbolism Analysis Symbolism was very present in Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour." Chopin was able to symbolize the locked room to Mrs. Mallard's trapped marriage, and also the open window to the freedom that she had gained after her husband's death. Chopin was able to help the readers visualize the word "freedom" by comparing it to the window that had been opened before Mrs. Mallard came into the room. The locked room was a comparison to her marriage which helped the readers get a sense of what marriage felt like for Mrs. Mallard. The writing style and the syntax for "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid were basically one to two long sentences. Not only that, but Kincaid had all independent clauses throughout the whole story. Now, this may have been a coincidence or it may have been a hidden concept of showing how women secretly seek for independence, which led her to write her whole story based on independent clauses. Kincaid's writing style also set an authoritative tone for the readers by making the whole story sound as if it was a checklist of chores for women, which was probably her goal. For the story "Sticks' by George Saunders, the most important literary device Saunders focused on is having a constant setting. Saunder's says in the end how his inspiration to write this story was based on his own experience of seeing a house like that. • 37. The Importance Of Animal Communication Ever since the scientific community came to the conclusion that animals can communicate, new questions on the function of animal signals arouse. Scientists wondered whether when animals communicate they do it in order to manipulate one another or to inform each other. Through extensive research over the years, scientist continue to be divided; many believe that the function of the animal signals is simply to manipulate while others believe that when animals communicate, they do it in order to inform. In reality, both sides of the argument are correct as communication without manipulation or information would be pointless. One of the functions of animal communication is to inform. As Jack P. Hailman (2008) states, "Communication is fundamentally a "stand for" process for transferring information from a sender to a receiver." Hailman uses this to propose that animals transfer information when they communicate. Similarly Owings, D. H. and E. S Morton (1998) quote from Green and Marler (1979, p.73), "Communication consists of the transmission of information from one animal to another. Information is encoded by one individual into a signal. When received by another animal, this information undergoes decoding, while still retaining a specifiable relationship to the encoded information." In their definition, Green and Marled include the undergoing of decoding to Shannon's basic model of communication diagram which only mentions a sender sending a signal to a receiver through a ... • 49. Personal Reflection My work ethic and my ability to fulfill my commitments shows how much of a dedicated and hard– working person I am, in terms of achieving my goals. Academically, I have been set on a course of facing on challenges to overcome. Since childhood, I have been placed in the Gifted and Talented program where my peers and I took advanced and honors courses, in which we would focus on rigorous and tough tasks; due to my effort, I was consistently one of the top students in my classes. However, when I entered Bronx Science, I realized that I would have to put even more effort in order to stay on top of all my classes and continue to do well. Sophomore had hit me hard, taking two AP classes, one honors, and one biology research class, but receiving relatively well grades by the end of both semesters had shown that I worked hard throughout all year in order to succeed and achieve my goals of being exceptional in my academic career. My extracurricular activities additionally demonstrate my determination, work ethic, and ability to fulfill commitments. Starting in June 2015, I worked as an intern at the Jackson Heights branch of Khan's Tutorial, a medium– sized tutoring and mentorship academy. I initially planned to only intern for the summer, in which I would aid instructors, grade papers and homework, and do other simple administrative duties. However, I decided to continue interning past the summer because I was determined to continue working and I enjoyed the work environment at Khan's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Sociological Research: The Ethical Use Of Human Experiments The use of human experiments in sociology is controversial for many reasons, mainly due to ethical concerns. Human experimentation, as done in the 1960s and earlier was highly unethical and at most times presented some form of danger to the test subjects. During that time and before the thirst for knowledge about human behavior superseded the concern for safety. Sociologists and researchers then would often subject the participants to harmful variables that had lasting physical or mental effects. Other times participants were not made fully aware of the experiment or the researcher's' true motives. Many of these experiments violated basic human rights. For example, the study done Stanford University. Participants were subjected to unnecessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Analysis Of Leslie Marmon Silko's The Man To Send Rain Clouds In "The Man to Send Rain Clouds," and "One Holy Night," Leslie Marmon Silko and Sandra Cisneros discuss the traditions and myths of their cultures. Silko states her beliefs in the rituals or ceremonies that her culture performs when one of her own has passed on. On the other hand, Cisneros explains the struggles of being a teenage girl of another culture in American society. While both writers agree that keeping their traditions and myths alive is important, Silko's story of Native American rituals gives awareness on the tradition in the pueblo world that even in modern times they practice, Unlike Cisneros, who's story of an unplanned teenage pregnancy after a short–term relationship with a man she barely knew, surveys what can be believed either an unfortunate or simply a typical tradition that all teenagers are in a personal phase of rebellion against people of parental authority, and often end up wanting to experiment with other cultures or figurative patterns of behavior, to interchange the traditions they were raised with. In "The Man to Send Rain Clouds," Leslie Marmon Silko shows the cultural divide between Native Americans and the priest in the story. In the priests world only god can send rain clouds but in the Native world it's the next man's duty to speak to the cloud people and ask them to create rain for the living. In this story the characters have a power struggle between the Native world and the white world. The struggle has changed into a problem not of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. My Journey As A Service Coordinator As a service coordinator, it is our job to provide support, coaching, referrals, and resources needed so that the family and children involved in EI are able to achieve their outcomes and successfully function once discharged out of Early Intervention. Although I am only beginning my journey as a service coordinator, I have been assigned to work with over 40 families of different incomes, races, ethnicities, and cultures. As a service coordinator I find the most intrinsic value when working for families of oppressed populations. In my own personal experience as a member of a minority Hispanic culture and f families of minority cultures are less likely to be educated on early childhood development and the importance of intervening as soon as possible. For that reason, I try my best to provide as much education as possible around the strategies I bring forth to assist the child, which often includes articles, offering workshop sessions and bringing in additional therapists onto the team. In addition to working with families of minority cultures, many children are often referred to early intervention through the department of children youth and families. Families involved in dcyf are often experiencing many difficult circumstances including no housing, mental illness, domestic abuse and many others. These circumstances often leave families feeling vulnerable, helpless, and without options. It is especially crucial and important to provide support and guidance to help empower ... • 57. Reflection On Dirac Theory After the Shanghai trip, I felt charged and refreshed ready to tackle the most important project in my life. While I buried myself in a deep pile of monographs related to quantum field theory and Dirac Theory, Ying, on the other hand, worked on a more practical front. After several months' hard work, he was able to tie things together and ready to go on with the most critical stage in his program – to perform the experiment. "I hope my balance will push the measurement of the gravitational constant G into a new high," he said at our usual evening stroll. "Is it going to be a knockout?" "I hope so," said he with a firm tone. "But more important objective for me is will get my degree in the shortest time among all the current graduates in the lab." "Why rush? You started your Ph.D. less than one– and–an–half–year ago not counting the first half–year you had been here. As your project going well, I am sure you will." "I need to finish the experiment soon. This Sunday I can show you how my balance works." I was almost as excited as Ying was. But the moment of truth was yet to come, as he performed the experiment. After that, computations, calibrations of the result would tell if the project was a success or a failure. Anxiety in our works took over our lives, and everything else stopped its existence. Sundays were a good time – with fewer people in the lab, there was less chance of disturbing for the procedure. On Sunday morning I accompanied Ying to the lab. He had made a ... • 61. The World Is Not A Victory Of Freedom We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom––symbolizing an end as well as a beginning––signifying renewal as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago. The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe––the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God. We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans––born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage––and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world. Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. This much we pledge––and more. To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tumor Immunology Personal Statement I have chosen to pursue research in the field of biology because I enjoy the approach of logical thinking to satisfy the curiosity of me and the world around me. Although, sometimes it is infuriating while not getting the desired outcomes, but the thing that fascinates me more about this area of science is the freedom to explore the living world. During my doctoral training, it was fortunate for me to work as a teaching assistant during the practical course works for undergraduate students for seven semesters. While working as a teaching assistant, I got an opportunity to give a lecture on "Tumor Immunology" and also to arrange a demonstration of goat brain dissection for the undergraduate students and that gave me a huge self confidence. • 65. My Graduate Career At Mount Holyoke College During my undergraduate career at Mount Holyoke College, I have taken an array of courses; with topics ranging from GIS to geomorphology to a field course that involves a ten–day trip to Death Valley National Park in California. My multidisciplinary knowledge of the geosciences granted me the privilege to join a research project with a fellow student and her advisor, Professor Alan Werner. Conducted through Harvard Forest, her project assesses the change in stratigraphy within sediment cores in Marblehead, Massachusetts. I am responsible for using her previously gathered XRF– scanner data to determine the paleoclimate immediately following the glacial maximum about 14,000 years ago. I also have access to data showing the core's magnetic susceptibility and organic matter content. Through the analysis of this data, I hope to determine the levels of chemical elements, associated with a marine setting, that are present in these sediment cores. My primary objective is to determine whether or not this area of Massachusetts is a continuation of the Presumpscot Formation in Maine. From this experience, I have gained knowledge in data analysis and how to write a scientific report describing my findings in the data and what they mean for understanding the paleoclimate of Marblehead, Massachusetts. This kind of skillset is transferrable across all scientific research, and the ability to conduct a research project specific to my interests will allow me to further develop my skills as a ... • 69. Persuasive Essay On Respect In Society "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what, together, we can do for the freedom of man", states the revered and sound late President Kennedy, a man who truly believed in the cruciality of respect within and for the nation one inhabits. A society is not only the making up a community, but it is a factor reflecting the ideals of justice, morality, and the overall character of every individual within the given society. Without respect, without consideration for the greater good, there is simply no reasonable possibility of a prospering and flourishing society ever emerging. In this current world one experiences day in and day out, the slaughtering of the innocent, the unrelenting violence, the angst between races, and the lack of integrity all influence the declining of our once thriving nation, therefore causing a termination to the aspects of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Within the last year, if one were to access any form of news media, more than half of the material displayed would include one of the three following topics: terrorism, massacre, death. In correlation to the definition of respect, a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements, those three topics do not seem to elicit one's pride and devotion to bettering ... • 71. Termite-Hunting Ants Megaponera Analysis NPR published an article about the termite–hunting ants Megaponera analis on April 12th, and I decided to compare how well their piece summarized the original scientific journal's findings. Through reading both articles I have come to the conclusion that NPR summary of the scientific journal is quite vague. The entirety of the NPR article had very little information about the scientific journals findings. In my opinion there were more deficits in this article rather than benefits that showed the true scope of the study. I understand that it is aimed at an audience much different that the scientific journal but I still believe it is far too simplistic. However, there were a few benefits that helped to capture the original research journals findings. One of these benefits include their inclusion of the information about what type of ant Megaponera analis is and how these ants march out in the search of food. Another benefit could be how the article describes how these ants were carrying their own kind as well as termites. Lastly, this article includes the backstory as who why the ... • 75. Comparing the Loss of Innocence in Cullen's Incident and... Loss of Innocence in Cullen's Incident and Naylor's Mommy, What Does "Nigger" Mean? Unfortunately, a question that many African Americans have to ask in childhood is "Mommy, what does nigger mean?," and the answer to this question depicts the racism that still thrives in America (345). Both Gloria Naylor's "'Mommy, What Does "Nigger" Mean?'" and Countee Cullen's "Incident" demonstrate how a word like "nigger" destroys a child's innocence and initiates the child into a world of racism. Though the situations provoking the racial slur differ, the word "nigger" has the same effect on the young Naylor and the child in Cullen's poem. A racist society devours the white children's innocence, and, consequently, the white children embody ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike Naylor, Cullen never identifies the sex of the black child in his poem. Perhaps Cullen renders the child in his poem genderless to give the child a more universal standing; perhaps he leaves the child genderless in order to focus on the more important fact that the child, whether male or female, sees no difference between him– or herself and the other boy until the "Baltimorean" boy calls him/her "nigger" (3). Both Cullen and Naylor add "color" to the description of the children with this single racial epithet. The white children's use of the word "nigger" establishes a distinction between them and the black children in Naylor and Cullen's works which embodies the essence of racism. This distinction forces the young Naylor and the child in Cullen's poem to see beyond their innocence and to see themselves and their world in new colors: black and white. Both Naylor and Cullen touch on an important issue by noting that the first incident of racism for the black children, occurring when the white children call them "nigger," takes place between two children. The fact that the white boys call the young Naylor and the child in Cullen's poem "nigger" at such a young age reflects the unfortunate truth that America teaches color boundaries and racism at a young age. The word "nigger" does not exist in white children's vocabulary at birth. Rather, their parents and community teach them the word and pass down the legacy of racism as if it is an ...
