Taro In Hawaii Culture
Growing up in Hawaii I knew that taro, also known as Colocasia esculenta, was something that
the state grew and loved. The Hawaiian word for taro is kalo. Not only is taro, or kalo, a part of
the Hawaiian culture, but it is their native diet as well. It is very popular that schools would go on
field trips to taro patches, but it is common that people would never really realize how important it
actually was. As Donna Haraway explained in The Companion Species Manifesto , a companion
specie is something that must include relationships with plants, insects, intestinal flora, etc., that all
make life what it is for humans (15). When talking about companion species, there cannot just be
one companion specie, there have to be at least two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this taro is one of the very few plants that can still live and grow under flooded
conditions. The plant takes almost a year to mature. Farmers understood that because it takes so
long to grow, they would use the plan wisely and take only what they had needed. There was a
certain way to prep the ground before planting taro. The ground had to be wet but still solid
enough for the plant. In order to prep the land, women, children, and men would step and pound
on the ground, which applies pressure to the dirt to make it more dense and packed. When the
taro was ready to be eaten it would be pulled out of the ground then prepped by being washed then
cooked. Although Taro could be planted in dry lands as well, it would be planted in areas that still
had lots of forest

Ethics... are nothing but reverence for life. This is what gives me the fundamental principle of
morality, namely, that good consists in maintaining, promoting, and enhancing life, and that
destroying, injuring, and limiting life are evil. This definition of ethics was from the German
physician, theologian, and medical missionary Albert Schweitzer who was awarded the 1952 Nobel
Peace Prize1. Ethicsare the principles that govern the behavior of society. It is a topic of
discussion that affects all of humanity regardless of age, race or generation. In essence, it is the

Comprehension of the information provided is the second requirement to achieve informed
consent3. If patients do not understand the information, then they cannot truly make informed
medical decisions. Patients who are incompetent due to age or mental disability may have a third
party make medical decisions on their behalf. These individuals must be able to understand the
situation and act in the best interest of the patient. Lastly, the patient must agree to the therapy
voluntarily3. Patients must be protected from coercion or pressures that could cause them to enter
into treatment that they do not want. Only after these requirements are met should the patient
initiate the proposed therapy. Informed consent is essential to building a strong provider patient
relationship based on trust and respect.
This paper will examine a situation where multiple ethical concepts are at play, identify several
courses of action, and draw conclusions in accordance with the pharmacists code of ethics. The
ethical dilemma arises when a patient makes suboptimal medical decisions after being given all of
the information necessary to fulfill the requirements of informed consent. The scenario is as follows:
Mrs. Jones is a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus. She presents to the ambulatory clinic today
after being referred by her physician. Mrs. Jones reports that she is keeping her diabetes under
control with diet and exercise. In the lab data sent by the physician it says that Mrs. Jones s

Samuel Morse Accomplishments
Samuel Finley Breese Morse was an American painter and an inventor. After becoming a well
known portrait painter, in his middle age he contributed to the invention of a single wire telegraph
system. He was a co developer of the Morse code and helped to develop a commercial use of
telegraphy.
Samuel Morse was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, being the first child of pastor Jedidiah
Morse who was a geographer and Elisabeth Ann Finley Morse. His father was a great preacher of
the calvinist faith and strongly believed in education within a Federalist framework, alongside the
instillation of Calvinist virtues, morals, and prayers for his first son. After attending Phillips
academy in Andover, Massachusetts, Samuel Morse was then attending... Show more content on

Samuel was then able to create a prototype of the telegraph. In 1836 others started working on the
invention. In 1838 Morse formed a partnership with fellow inventor Alfred Vail, who funded in the
invention and also helped with the dots and dashes for sending signals which is what we know as
morse code. Until 1842, when Morse gained the attention of Maine Congressman, Francis
Ormand Jonathan Smith. The same year Samuel attached two wires between two committee
rooms in the capitol and was able to send code back and forth. With the help of Smith, Samuel
won $30,000 for the demmonstration and to construct a 38 mile telegraph line between
Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Maryland. On May 24, 1844 Samuel tapped his first message
which read What hath God wrought! . Almost as soon as Morse received his patent for the
telegraph in 1847, he was hit with litigious claims from partners and rival inventors. The legal
battles culminated in the U.S. Supreme Court decision O Rielly v.s. Morse in 1854, that stated
Morse had been the first to develop a workable telegraph. In spite of the court s clear ruling, Morse
received no official recognition from the U.S.

The Love Of Sacrifice By Emily Stimpson
The Love of Sacrifice Sacrifice is necessary in getting through life. We sacrifice in order to reach
something of a higher value, but in Mother Teresa s case was reaching God. Living in a world full
of low wage income families, homelessness, and so on, and we pass them by without ever needing
/wanting to pay them anything, so at least they could live a better life. Mother Teresais an example
of self sacrificefor the God. As stated by Father Joseph Langford,M.C. in the Article Sacrifice
written by Emily Stimpson, Holiness is living God s life, and God has told us that he is love not
just any kind of love, how ever, but a love that is self emptying and self gift (Stimpson).
Decisively, this quote points out to what sacrifice is. Passion and love are vital to human beings.
She has been stated in Gloria Steinem s book, Herstory Women Who changed the World, she had
an huge impact on many people s lives and Today, on seven continents and in eighty seven
countries, her mission to service the poor purely for the love of God continues (Ashby and Ohrn
238). Being this, she was an important person in her century and looking back upon it she made a
huge impact in variety of people s lives throughout the years till she died. Mother Teresa s objective
of conveying contentment and gaiety to the impecunious through self sacrifice elevates the
components of altruism/selflessness and adoration that are so imperative to the foundation of
peace. Vitally, Mother Teresa was

Analysis of Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake Essay
Tchaikovsky is one of the most popular of all composers. The reasons are several and
understandable. His music is extremely tuneful, opulently and colourfully scored, and filled with
emotional passion. Undoubtedly the emotional temperature of the music reflected the composer s
nature. He was afflicted by both repressed homosexuality and by the tendency to extreme
fluctuations between ecstasy and depression. Tchaikovsky was neurotic and deeply sensitive, and
his life was often painful, but through the agony shone a genius that created some of the most
beautiful of all romantic melodies. With his rich gifts for melody and special flair for writing
memorable dance tunes, with his ready response to the atmosphere of a theatrical situation... Show

1. Scene
The harp plays ascending scales whilst the oboe plays a minor legato melody. The bass strings play
pizzicato then the rest of the string section play tremolando and Crescendo. The brass repeats the
melody, accompanied by the orchestra and a string tremolando inverted pedal. A string melody
follows, accompanied by pizzicato strings and brass. There is a series of suspensions in the brass
with perfect cadences, then an anticlimax with descending strings and brass. The main melody is
repeated again, syncopated, in augmentation then there is a diminuendo as melody strings then
French horn play melody.
2. Waltz
The introduction opens with a descending minor scale by pizzicato strings, followed by three
sforzandos in the orchestra. Section A begins with strings, woodwind and brass playing a waltz
rhythm, which modulates to major. The strings play melody 1, which is then repeated with piccolo
countermelody. Brass and string crescendo and cymbal crash before strings play melody 2 which
is dotted, and followed by suspensions and an imperfect cadence. The suspensions are repeated with

A Report For The Management Team Of An Organization Of My...
Information security is a critical issue for all organisations
I have been asked to write a report for the management team of an organisation of my choice. I will
be exploring the critical issues of information security within that organisation. To help with my
research I will be outlining the security risks, safeguards and contingency plans in case of a breach.
The technological application I will be focusing on is Email.
Executive Summary
To summarise, I have researched the history of Lloyds Bank, the general overview of how the
organisations information security is maintained and what methods and procedures they have in
place. I have talked about the security risks and how the bank can ensure that their company is fully
secure and how they can certify the protection of their customers.
I researched about the safeguards and the different types of methods that can be put in place to
ensure security. The last section explores what contingency plans are for damage limitations on the
event of a breach.
Overview
The organisation I have chosen is Lloyds Bank. According to (Wikipedia, 2015), Lloyds Bank is a
British retail bank with branches across England and Wales. It has traditionally been considered
one of the Big Four clearing banks .
Lloyds Bank was founded in 1765 in Birmingham , the bank then prolonged during the 19th and
20th century and invaded smaller bank companies. In the mid 90 s it combined with the Trustee
Savings Bank and traded as Lloyds TSB Bank plc

The Growth Of Eco Friendly And Reliable Methods For Our...
Introduction
During the course of human history, fungi has always been used as food and exploited to preserve
and ferment beverages and foods. By the twentieth century, we had learned to protect human health
by harnessing fung (immunosuppressive agents, anti cholesterol statins and antibiotics), while
industries made us of fungi to support large scale production of acids, biosurfactants and enzymes.
In the 1980 s, with the dawn of fresh nanotechnology, fungi had remained important by being able
to synthesize nanoparticles.
Nanoparticles or nanomaterials are materials including particles or constituents that are of
nanoscale proportions, or something that has been produced via nanotechnology. Biologically
hazardous or environmentally toxic reducing agents are normally associated in the nanoparticles
chemical synthesis. Today, the growth of eco friendly and reliable methods for the production of
nanomaterials is a vital facet of nanotechnology. One such approach that has shown potential
beyond measure is centred on the use of biological micro organisms, such as fungi for the
biosynthesis of these nanoparticles.
Fungi can invariably be used for the synthesizing of metallic nanoparticles from their salt, since
fungi contain enzymes and proteins as reducing agents. Should be cautious while handling them
during experiments, as some fungi are disease causing. Fungal biomass generally grows quicker
than that of bacteria in consistent conditions. While production of metal

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Essay
Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, one of the most common liver disorders, can have several
causes, such as congenital, pharmaceutical, or other miscellaneous sources, but the most clinically
important etiology is metabolic disorder. Metabolic Disorder, also known as syndrome X, is a
collection of symptoms that occur in clusters, and cause a patient to have a higher risk of heart
disease, stroke, and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome has several hallmark signs. Many of these
conditions can occur alone, or secondary to another condition and do not individually point to
metabolic syndrome. These characteristic signs are a large waist circumference, high triglyceride

The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the
hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte
undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver
enzymes in the bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at
this stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the
same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits
decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue,
causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is
thought to be caused by altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids.
While the concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT
/CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is
inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein
lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to adipose decreases, and their uptake in the
liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid
transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. (3) Steatosis is the first
stage of NAFLD

Her decision to go to jail was a huge decision that she had to make and in hindsight it worked out
beautifully for her. I wouldn t say that she is back on top but she is in a lot better place now then
she was before and I think that this is due to her showing the public that she was willing to bite
the bullet and go to jail willingly. I also feel that her letters and reports from jail really showed the
public that she was really paying her dues and that maybe she was deserving of being back in the
real world.
5. Martha should lay low key for the time and continue to live in the good vibes that she is getting
from the public. She seems to have a lot of things back and I feel that she should structure her
comments and actions more around a defensive approach and thoroughly think out her nest few

6. I think that if she were to acknowledge any mistake she may or may not have made, that it
would throw her back into negativity and mud her name. She needs to focus on becoming the
mogul that she once was and work up not dwelling on the past. She served her time and payed
her dues to the public and she shouldn t relive all of that. It happened years ago and by now a lot
of people have forgotten about it all. I think now, she should stay consistent with her story. Don t

Magna Carta In Australia Essay
Introduction This research essay addresses the issue of the application of Magna Carta in Australia
by championing the idea proposed by Justice Isaacs that Magna Carta is the groundwork of the
Constitution of the Commonwealth. In determining the relationship between Magna Carta and the
Commonwealth Constitution, we investigate how the principles of the Commonwealth
Constitution are connected with and reflected in Magna Carta. It is worthwhile to examine the
degree of consistency between Magna Carta and the Commonwealth Constitution in Australia.
Nexus between the Commonwealth Constitution and Magna Carta
The fundamental principles in the Commonwealth Constitution
The origin of the Commonwealth Constitution was the received principles of English law which
became applicable on settlement and which were modified and extended by subsequent statutes.
The constitutional system of Australia subsequently followed the set of conventions regarding the
exercise of powers in relation to the Australian Constitution by the Parliament, Sovereign and
Ministers of the United Kingdom. These conventions ensured the proper functioning of government
and the smooth working of the Constitution in changing conditions. As a consequence of a process

Ocean Acidification And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
Unmistakable people are familiar with the probability that looks reefs to submerged rainforests.
Coral reefs orchestrate the most biodiverse living spaces in the ocean, and their closeness is

How Does Stalin Deserve The Great Purges
During the 1930 s, Stalin ordered large scale purges, targeting anyone who displayed even the
slightest sign of being a threat to the government. The government was able to identify these
people through family members or close friends who informed on them. With this, people no
longer expressed their true opinions and instead conformed with the government s ideas in fear of
persecution ( Purges and Praises ). About 20 million people that were suspected of performing
anti Soviet activities were executed, sent to Gulag labor camps, or forced them to take part in a
show trial, where they would be forced plead guilty publicly to inconceivable crimes that they had
never committed (Gracheva). Many officials and military leaders were also executed after being
convicted of treason. It is estimated that one thirds of the Communist Party s three million members
were put to death during the Great Purge. However, the traces of the people that were murdered
were eliminated after the government rewrote history books and doctored photographs to exclude
them. Additionally, members of the NKVD, the Soviet secret police, were killed at the end of the
Great Purges, so that the people that had known too much about this event would be eliminated.

The Causes Of Learning Disabilities
In the early 1960 s Samuel Kirk founded the term learning disabilities. This came about after he
had visited with a group of parents to discuss why their children seem to have small amounts of
success even when they can understand and comprehend things just like other children. As a result
of this meeting the Learning Disabilities Association of America was formed (Pullen, 27).
Learning Disabilities (LD) are created when there is a space between a person s ability to think
and reason and not understanding based on the results from tests. There are a few reasons why LD
can occur. Boys are more prone than girls, African Americans and Latinos are more prone than
Whites and Asians. Most adolescents with LD struggle with reading. They also have difficulties
interacting with others, expressing their feelings and understanding the feelings of other. Last, the
amount of teacher s involvement with adolescents can reduce the dropout rate (Arnett; Pullen).
First, it is important to know the gender, genetics and behavior that contribute to LD. For every 1
female there are 3 males that have LD. Even though the reason for this is not clear, there are 2
things that can contribute to this outcome. First, is the higher rate of genetics if an adolescent has a
monozygotic twin, parent or parents with LD. In this case, the likelihood of the other twin or future
children having LD is pretty high. As a result, this is due to the brain functioning and processing in
different ways than people

Here are some numbers: since birth through age six years old at least fifteen types of different

Are all these vaccinations necessary at such an early age? The uncontrolled proliferation of

Annotated Bibliography Death And Dying Analysis
Annotated Bibliography: Death and Dying
Corr, C. A., Corr, D. M., Bordere, T. C. (2013). Death dying, life living. Belmont, CA: Wadsworth,
Cengage Learning.
According to Corr, Corr, and Bordere (2013), death is a term that is used to indicate one s end of
life, while dying is the process that one undergoes before he or she loses his or her life. The author
talks the reader the numerous aspects of death and dying, as well as bereavement. This book
incorporates classical and modern material, contemporary task based methods for a person or
family coping with death. The article is divided into sub sections including introduction chapters
and conclusion chapters, which revolve around the subject of death and how people, including
relatives of the deceased, survive. There are four chapters in this book which explain how
children, teenagers, young, and middle aged adults cope with death. From this point of view, it is
clear that this book discusses various aspects of religious and cultural perspective that affects one s
understanding as well as the practices associated with death.
Even though death is inevitable, it is quite clear that people can devise methods under which they
can cope with the loss of their loved ones; for instance, their immediate relatives if not friends.
Drawing practical guidelines from this book, one can constructively come up with communication
strategies that may have encouragement to those who have lost their loved ones. This initiative

The Six Minute Walk Distance ( 6 Mwd )
Galie s et al. compared the six minute walk distance (6 MWD) in patients twelve years or older
with symptomatic pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) who took placebo versus 4 doses of
oral tadalafil with or without bosentan. This multi center, double blind, placebo controlled,
randomized controlled study lasted 16 weeks. The patients were placed into 5 different groups:
tadalafil 2.5mg, 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, or placebo once daily, and stratification was based on
walking distance of 325m, type of PAH, and bosentan use. Patients were not qualified to
participate in this study if they had a 6 mintue walk distance 150m or 450m. Safety was
determined by the level of adverse events severity. It was shown that all doses, but 2.5mg,
improved 6 MWD at week 16, although, the tadalafil 40mg was the only one that was statistically
significant (p 0.01). Compared with placebo, tadalafil 40mg had statistical significanceof 6 MWD
without bosentan therapy at 44m, versus patients with bosentan with a 6 MWD of 23m. The
WHO functional class was not statistically significant in comparison with placebo because
patients with better WHO functional class showed no difference in comparison to people with
worse WHO functional class. After the 341 patients completed the 16 week trial, 334 of them
accepted participation in another 16 week trial. Their 6 MWD slightly improved from 37m to 38m
after 44 weeks, which was shown to be statistically significant (95% CI, 29 to 47). In addition,

A Testimony Is A Personal Story Of God
A testimony is a personal story of what God has done in one s life, the story of one s conversion.
Many people have dramatic testimonies of God rescuing them from death and destruction.
Others have stories a little less dramatic; nevertheless they are life changing. We truly leave the
kingdom of darkness for the kingdom of light. C. S. Lewis puts it this way: It may be hard for
an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an
egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent
egg. We must be hatched or go bad. 1 My testimony is of the less dramatic variety. Still, God
wooed me and waited for me. He used my upbringing to bring me to a place of surrender to his
Lordship in my life. I trust it will encourage others to tell their stories of God s faithfulness. I grew
up in a Catholic family and believed the teachings of the Catholic Church insofar as they agreed
with my reading of the Bible. As a teenager, Jesusbecame real to me at summer camp; I was
introduced to the Charismatic movement. While at college God began calling me to Christian
leadership, culminating in my engagement to Kevin. I grew up in a Catholic home. From my
earliest memories, I believed in God and knew He existed. Every week we faithfully attended our
local parish. There was no Sunday School so we sat with our parents during mass. I remember my
youngest sister, Jennifer, playing with my Dad s keys

Larkspur Middle School Research Paper
Do you remember the pep rallies from sixth grade? Remember how we sixth graders could not
wait until seventh grade to sit on the bleachers instead of the gym floor? Back in 2013, Larkspur
Middle School got rid of pep rallies since it was a safety hazard to have too many people in the
gym at the same time. Instead, they replaced pep rallies with spirit parades, so teams parade
around the school for about fifteen minutes and basically back up the whole school day. I think
the best way to bring school spirit back at Larkspur is to get rid of spirit parades, bring pep
rallies back, and hold them outside. First of all, spirit parades take too long and the hallway gets
crowded quickly. When all the classes were lined up along the lockers, it always got hot so fast.
We had to stand up for about fifteen minutes while being squished together. For example, it took
a while for it to start, and it only lasted for about five minutes. Spirit parades effected teachers,
too. These parades cut into valuable class time. Plus, teachers had to wait for their students who
were in the parade to come back. Spirit parades were probably worst for elective teachers and eight
grade students and teachers. First elective classes like academic support,... Show more content on

The main reason why Larkspur had to get rid of pep rallies was because the gym was too
packed. There were not enough seats in the gym, so sixth graders had to sit on the floor, while
seventh and eighth graders had to sit on the bleachers. The crowdedness of the gym really had
an effect on the departure of leaving the gym. All the classes had to leave one by one through
the maze of all the students. This led to the fire department safety rule of only having a certain
number or people in one place at one time since it is a fire hazard. If a fire were to occur in the
gym, then there would only be about seven exits. These exits would not be easy to access since
the pep rallies were only on one side of the

Second Peloponnesian War Essay
FACTS
Athens maintained some success. The Spartan King Archimedes II lay siege to the city revolt of
Plataea, and the Athenians were able to hold out there until 427, when the city fell. It was during
this time that , incited by the Spartans, took place at Mytilene.
The second stage of the Second Peloponnesian War lasted from 421 to 413, and saw battles in
Syracuse and Sicily. During this time, Corinth attempted to build coalitions among the states
against Athens, and Alcibiades betrayed Athens to the Spartans. During the Battle of Mantinea,
Argos, which had been courted by both sides, lost the bulk of their military and then became an ally
to Athens. This is also the phase at which, thanks to new Athenian allies in the Peloponnese,...

In this battle, the Athenian naval superiority was lost as Sparta was able to use gold, sent from the
Persian king Cyrus, to build a fleet rivaling the Athenian. The battle ended tragically for the
Athenians. After this battle, Persian officially entered the contest and threw its naval support
behind Sparta, hastening the inevitable end of the conflict.
The conflict ended suddenly in 405. The remaining Athenian fleet was caught unawares at
Hellespont and destroyed. This signified the first time in a century that Athens did not have control
of the Aegean. Sparta blockaded land routes, thus preventing resupply to Athens. By 404, Athens
capitulated.
Sparta offered Athens reasonable terms, given the time. No soldiers were slaughtered, and no
temples were razed. The Athenian Long Walls, as well as the defenses of the Piraeus, were
demolished. These two structures had long been a thorn in the side to Sparta. The Athenians
acknowledged Spartan rule just for a single year, until a democratic faction was able to regain
control of the city because of the injustice of the Sparta backed Athenian oligarchy that had been

The Pros And Cons Of Corporate Air Charters
In the event that you fly as often as possible for work or play, you might be in for a few bothers
not too far off. With fuel costs taking off, business bearers have been curtailing flights year over
year for as far back as couple of years. Trimming courses, decreasing the recurrence of flights and
changing to littler planes are only a couple of the measures aircrafts are taking to trim expenses
with expectations of reinforcing the main issue. This implies much longer holds up, more knock

there are many techniques about nonviolent resistance that are sit ins, which means the patience to

boycotts, which means to stop buy something from someone or company, marches, that means to

Probable Cause Debate
Pro: We affirm. Resolved: In United States public K 12 schools, the probable cause standard
ought to apply to searches of students. If we prove that it is unsafe for students to learn in an
environment where they can be subject to search at any time, we win. Contention 1: Reducing
negative stereotypes Based on statistics, it has been observed that certain racial and ethnic groups
are more subject to racial profiling than others. According to Kendell L. Coker 2011, school
officials have instituted administrative searches aimed at a group or class of people rather than a
particular person under the theory that a member of that group or class might pose a threat to
safety. Thus, when school resource officers (SROs) face a situation with... Show more content on

The harm of unreasonable searches versus the possibility of preventing a crime from occurring
by the discovery of evidence is the issue at hand. The time that is used to obtain the warrant
because of probable cause is time that can be used to prevent a crime from happening and lives
from being lost. If the student is planning on harming others, getting a warrant will allow them
more time to execute that plan. Under reasonable suspicion, the investigation is justified and can
save more lives, as well as keep the school community safe. According to Benjamin Tiller, 2014,
A probable cause standard would frustrate the fulfillment of the resource officer s duty... and
make it easier for students to conceal drugs or weapons at school. This high standard will not
mitigate drug and gun problems, but will make them worse. It will force educators and resource
officers to take the time to apply for a warrant instead of immediately addressing a perceived
threat time that could be the difference between life and death. Reasonable suspicion allows
educators and resource officers flexibility and discourages students from bringing contraband to
school. Schools should be safe places for children and reasonable suspicion will create this safe
space. Gun violence is a prevalent issue today and in April 2016 there was a student in my school

want a solvent called Mineral Spirits 75 which is an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent. This solvent is
considered to be hazardous by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200).
The main objective of this performance standard is to lessen or completely stop the adverse
negative impacts on human health and the environment we live in. This can be achieved by
minimizing pollution from production factories or other project activities. Another objective in this
standard is to reduce the effects of GHG emissions. I will investigate.

However, it is not constitutionally recognized as a legal entity, therefore, giving its decisions no
legal force. The main parties of Australia are: the Labour Party, Liberal Party, National Party, and
the Australian Democrats; these parties are voted in through a preferential system of voting (
Australia s Political Structure, 2011). All citizens over the age of 18 are required to vote for these
parties because of compulsory voting (adopted in 1924). Australia followed many other
democracies on there decision to implement compulsory voting during the 1920s. However, the
country unusually added mandatory voting without other previsions (Birch, 2009). Australia was
able to do so because of several strong factors supporting the measure. The left (the Labour Party)
had already used a form of social compulsion through trade unions getting their supporters to the
polls. Bring in compulsory voting would rectify this imbalance between the left and the right votes
(Birch, 2009). Furthermore, voters would no longer be in a position to demand transportation to the
polls producing lower party cost. Several other factors include: raising turnout, greatening the
legitimacy of government, enhancing the public education on politics, and the fact that voting is
considered a duty not only a right (Birch, 2009). Since the adoption the system has widely been
supported. At the highest point of support peaked at 73% in favor of compulsory voting

Decision Making Is At The Core Of The United States...
Decision making is at the core of the United States Supreme Court. The justices are not immune
to possessing political ideologies and similarly to the American public, those ideologies impact
their lives to varying degrees. The facet of judicial politics explored in this paper is decision
making and the impact of ideology. While it would be ideal for the Supreme Court to have zero
influences other than the constitution, it is also wishful thinking. Author Jeffrey Toobin agrees
with political scientists that the justices of the United States Supreme Court make decisions and
rulings that are a result of their ideologies and personal values. He says, All justices have a
political ideology as well as a legal philosophy that s a big reason presidents choose them in the first
place. Perhaps the most astute opinion on this matter comes from Justice Sonia Sotomayor: The
aspiration to impartiality is just that it s an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our
experiences making different choices than others. Personal experiences affect the facts that judges
choose to see Toobin s own statements often reflect the argument that he attempts to prove about
the justices being in line with the attitudinal model. He writes, The justices built their judicial
philosophies on the foundation of their prior lives. The question is, to what extent do justices allow
their personal values and experiences to impact their court duties? The idea that the justices are

Ciel carefully opened the letter, reading over its contents. He sighed and tossed the letter into his
desk with distaste, more ridiculous tasks that he shouldn t have to manage. When Sebastian
returned, Ciel was in a characteristic pose of boredom, a balled fist under his chin and a scowl
on his face. Sebastian almost smiled at his master s disagreeable personality he had become
quite fond of the boy s moods over the years. He gently placed the tray of tea on the desk,
carefully pouring a cup, before turning to leave. Wait, he heard Ciel call after him. We need to
discuss the orders from the Queen. Of course, my lord. What needs be

Wainwright Building
The relationship between form and function had always been the core of Sullivan s career. In his
point of view, anything, whether it is organic or inorganic, could be deemed as the representation of
its content and function, and every particular function has developed its own form. Sullivan explain
this idea by illustrating oak tree in his Kindergarten Charts, he wrote, generally speaking outer
appearances resemble inner purposes. For instances, the form, oak tree, resembles and expresses the
function or purpose, oak (Sullivan, Kindergarten chats). In here, form could be understood as
phenomenon of things, but not just the appearance. In his article, The Tall Office Building

But, actually, what Sullivan really cares about is the form. Otherwise, he would not have this much
thoughts about the relationship between form and function. Sullivan always gives high priority to
architectural form, especially its ornament, but with a kind of ambivalence in his mind. On the one
hand, he believes that architecture could be great without any decoration or ornament. On the other
hand, thoughtful designed ornament is also indispensable to architecture. Finally, he gave the
answer, he thinks particular ornament should be applied on the particular kinds of architecture, just
like different trees have various types of leaves. So, architectural form is not influenced by the
extrinsic factor, but the growth of itself. Now it is understandable why Wainwright Building got
such a luxuriant ornament on its top. Under the eave, the surface between windows are extended,
and sophisticated spiraled leaves surrounds the circular windows. It is just the metaphor of the

Injury In Football
One Decision to Ruin it All
There are about 40 50 career ending sports injuries a year and I was one of them. Back in 2013,
my father forced me to go out for football. That was the best thing I could have done until... One
day everything changed.
Set, hut! The quarterback ordered as I took off down the field. The ball was thrown and it was to
me, a fifth grader. I caught the ball and started running for the touchdown when out of the corner
of my eye I saw the biggest guy on their team gaining yards. I tried to split into center field, then I
was lifted up and thrown to the ground. Darkness fastly approached.
I was awoken by one of the coaches and I shot up. He sounded concerned as he growled, Are you
alright. I explained what happened and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I was awoken by one of the coaches and I shot up. He sounded concerned as he growled, Are you
alright. I explained what happened and that my wrist was just a sprain and there was nothing to be
worried about. For the next 2 hours, my head was throbbing so bad like it was trying to tell me
something wasn t right in my wrist. I was so bullheaded that I brushed the excruciating pain off and
kept going because a sprained wrist was the least of my worries.
Later that day I asked a friend s mom if my wrist was broken or if it was just a sprain. She said: It
is just a sprain, Because she was a nurse, I believed her. Plus it didn t hurt much at the time.
Much later we left his mom s house and drove to his father s house about an hour away. Once we
arrived we played some football outside for a couple of hours. Boy, that was an experience
trying to catch a bullet pass with a broken wrist. Mid play his father stepped outside and yelled:
Suppertime, so we sprinted inside and scarfed down food until our stomachs were about to burst.
Once bedtime hit we jumped on the PS3 and played some Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies for the

  • 2. Taro In Hawaii Culture Growing up in Hawaii I knew that taro, also known as Colocasia esculenta, was something that the state grew and loved. The Hawaiian word for taro is kalo. Not only is taro, or kalo, a part of the Hawaiian culture, but it is their native diet as well. It is very popular that schools would go on field trips to taro patches, but it is common that people would never really realize how important it actually was. As Donna Haraway explained in The Companion Species Manifesto , a companion specie is something that must include relationships with plants, insects, intestinal flora, etc., that all make life what it is for humans (15). The ground had to be wet but still solid enough for the plant. In order to prep the land, women, children, and men would step and pound on the ground, which applies pressure to the dirt to make it more dense and packed. This is what gives me the fundamental principle of morality, namely, that good consists in maintaining, promoting, and enhancing life, and that destroying, injuring, and limiting life are evil. This definition of ethics was from the German physician, theologian, and medical missionary Albert Schweitzer who was awarded the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize1. Ethicsare the principles that govern the behavior of society. It is a topic of discussion that affects all of humanity regardless of age, race or generation. • 9. The Growth Of Eco Friendly And Reliable Methods For Our... Introduction During the course of human history, fungi has always been used as food and exploited to preserve and ferment beverages and foods. By the twentieth century, we had learned to protect human health by harnessing fung (immunosuppressive agents, anti cholesterol statins and antibiotics), while industries made us of fungi to support large scale production of acids, biosurfactants and enzymes. In the 1980 s, with the dawn of fresh nanotechnology, fungi had remained important by being able to synthesize nanoparticles. Nanoparticles or nanomaterials are materials including particles or constituents that are of nanoscale proportions, or something that has been produced via nanotechnology. Biologically hazardous or environmentally toxic reducing agents are normally associated in the nanoparticles chemical synthesis. Today, the growth of eco friendly and reliable methods for the production of nanomaterials is a vital facet of nanotechnology. One such approach that has shown potential beyond measure is centred on the use of biological micro organisms, such as fungi for the biosynthesis of these nanoparticles. Fungi can invariably be used for the synthesizing of metallic nanoparticles from their salt, since fungi contain enzymes and proteins as reducing agents. Should be cautious while handling them during experiments, as some fungi are disease causing. Fungal biomass generally grows quicker than that of bacteria in consistent conditions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver enzymes in the bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at this stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue, causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is thought to be caused by altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids. While the concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT /CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to adipose decreases, and their uptake in the liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. Learning Disabilities (LD) are created when there is a space between a person s ability to think and reason and not understanding based on the results from tests. This multi center, double blind, placebo controlled, randomized controlled study lasted 16 weeks. The patients were placed into 5 different groups: tadalafil 2.5mg, 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, or placebo once daily, and stratification was based on walking distance of 325m, type of PAH, and bosentan use. Patients were not qualified to participate in this study if they had a 6 mintue walk distance 150m or 450m. Safety was determined by the level of adverse events severity. • 22. A Testimony Is A Personal Story Of God A testimony is a personal story of what God has done in one s life, the story of one s conversion. Many people have dramatic testimonies of God rescuing them from death and destruction. Others have stories a little less dramatic; nevertheless they are life changing. We truly leave the kingdom of darkness for the kingdom of light. C. S. Lewis puts it this way: It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad. 1 My testimony is of the less dramatic variety. Still, God wooed me and waited for me. He used my upbringing to bring me to a place of surrender to his Lordship in my life. I trust it will encourage others to tell their stories of God s faithfulness. I grew up in a Catholic family and believed the teachings of the Catholic Church insofar as they agreed with my reading of the Bible. As a teenager, Jesusbecame real to me at summer camp; I was introduced to the Charismatic movement. While at college God began calling me to Christian leadership, culminating in my engagement to Kevin. I grew up in a Catholic home. From my earliest memories, I believed in God and knew He existed. Every week we faithfully attended our local parish. There was no Sunday School so we sat with our parents during mass. I remember my youngest sister, Jennifer, playing with my Dad s keys ... • 23. Larkspur Middle School Research Paper Do you remember the pep rallies from sixth grade? Remember how we sixth graders could not wait until seventh grade to sit on the bleachers instead of the gym floor? Back in 2013, Larkspur Middle School got rid of pep rallies since it was a safety hazard to have too many people in the gym at the same time. Instead, they replaced pep rallies with spirit parades, so teams parade around the school for about fifteen minutes and basically back up the whole school day. I think the best way to bring school spirit back at Larkspur is to get rid of spirit parades, bring pep rallies back, and hold them outside. First of all, spirit parades take too long and the hallway gets crowded quickly. When all the classes were lined up along the lockers, it always got hot so fast. We had to stand up for about fifteen minutes while being squished together. For example, it took a while for it to start, and it only lasted for about five minutes. Spirit parades effected teachers, too. These parades cut into valuable class time. Plus, teachers had to wait for their students who were in the parade to come back. Spirit parades were probably worst for elective teachers and eight grade students and teachers. First elective classes like academic support,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main reason why Larkspur had to get rid of pep rallies was because the gym was too packed. There were not enough seats in the gym, so sixth graders had to sit on the floor, while seventh and eighth graders had to sit on the bleachers. The crowdedness of the gym really had an effect on the departure of leaving the gym. All the classes had to leave one by one through the maze of all the students. This led to the fire department safety rule of only having a certain number or people in one place at one time since it is a fire hazard. If a fire were to occur in the gym, then there would only be about seven exits. These exits would not be easy to access since the pep rallies were only on one side of the ... The Spartan King Archimedes II lay siege to the city revolt of Plataea, and the Athenians were able to hold out there until 427, when the city fell. It was during this time that , incited by the Spartans, took place at Mytilene. The second stage of the Second Peloponnesian War lasted from 421 to 413, and saw battles in Syracuse and Sicily. During this time, Corinth attempted to build coalitions among the states against Athens, and Alcibiades betrayed Athens to the Spartans. In this battle, the Athenian naval superiority was lost as Sparta was able to use gold, sent from the Persian king Cyrus, to build a fleet rivaling the Athenian. The battle ended tragically for the Athenians. After this battle, Persian officially entered the contest and threw its naval support behind Sparta, hastening the inevitable end of the conflict. The conflict ended suddenly in 405. The remaining Athenian fleet was caught unawares at Hellespont and destroyed. This signified the first time in a century that Athens did not have control of the Aegean. Sparta blockaded land routes, thus preventing resupply to Athens. By 404, Athens capitulated. Sparta offered Athens reasonable terms, given the time. No soldiers were slaughtered, and no temples were razed. The Athenian Long Walls, as well as the defenses of the Piraeus, were demolished. These two structures had long been a thorn in the side to Sparta. If we prove that it is unsafe for students to learn in an environment where they can be subject to search at any time, we win. Contention 1: Reducing negative stereotypes Based on statistics, it has been observed that certain racial and ethnic groups are more subject to racial profiling than others. According to Kendell L. The harm of unreasonable searches versus the possibility of preventing a crime from occurring by the discovery of evidence is the issue at hand. The time that is used to obtain the warrant because of probable cause is time that can be used to prevent a crime from happening and lives from being lost. If the student is planning on harming others, getting a warrant will allow them more time to execute that plan. Under reasonable suspicion, the investigation is justified and can save more lives, as well as keep the school community safe. According to Benjamin Tiller, 2014, A probable cause standard would frustrate the fulfillment of the resource officer s duty... and make it easier for students to conceal drugs or weapons at school.
