Literary Elements In The Matrix
The Matrix is a well known blockbuster film which was released in the year 1999. Viewers commonly
it identify by the fascinating video effects as well as the unreal (yet real in the movie) acts performed
in the scenes. The idea which I aim to explore concerning the movie in this essay dwells on the usage
of cinematographic elements, the theme of fate as well as the stylistic use of literary elements.
The movie is well known for the advanced cinematographic effects and for a person who understands
film, the effects which are used in the film bring about a scientific as well as imaginary concept which
make the film fall under the genre of science fiction. Although most films are fiction, sci fi films are
quite intriguing because of the technologically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Procrastination Is Natural Essay
Is procrastination natural? Procrastination cannot be considered natural, because natural can be define
as something that people have become use to doing in their everyday live. In his recent Ted Talk,
Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator, Tim Urban, states that everybody is a procrastinator, and
honestly, I disagree with his idea. Not everybody is a procrastinator.
In the article, What we finally got around to learning at procrastination research conference , by
Heather Murphy, she states that at least one out five people are procrastinators. (Murphy, 2017) In
making this comment, Murphy (2017) argues his audience to believe that not everyone can be
considered to be a procrastinator. Now considering that one out five people are procrastinators in their
live, can there be any side effects to procrastination? Been a procrastinator can have side effects, for
example anxiety, stress, and tension. Personally, I believe that students go more through this side
effects because they are always being bombarded with due dates before the semester has even started.
As reported by, Erin Ben Moche from the Chicago Tribune newspaper, Teens report that their stress
level during the school year far exceeds what they believe to be healthy (5.8 versus 3.9 on a 10 point
scale) and tops adults average reported stress levels (5.8 for teens versus 5.1 for adults) (Erin Ben
Moche, 2017, par.3) In other words, Erin believes that teen students stress more than adults because of
school. As a student, I personally haven t dealt with this kind of high stress, but in the other hand, I
met teenagers who have dealt with this kind of stress during mid terms
In the Ted Talk by Tim Urban, he touches the topic of anxiety and stress. He goes on by saying that
guilt, dread, anxiety, and self hatred can be a dark playground when people are doing last minute
paperwork or assignments. (Urban, 2016) Like I stated in the beginning of my essay, procrastination is
not something that everyone does, procrastination is more like a decision someone decides to take
when they are been lazy. According to Adam Grant s article, Why I thought myself to procrastinate,
For years, I believed that anything worth doing was worth doing early. In

Facial Recognition System
CHAPTER 1 FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM
1.1 INTRODUCTION
A biometrics is, Automated methods of recognizing an individual based on their unique physical or
behavioral characteristics. For example face, fingerprint, signature, voice etc. Face recognition is a
task humans perform remarkably easily and successfully.
In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly
processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a
similar face existing in database else it is unknown.
Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several
practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition
system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human
face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few
years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person.
Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system.
Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify
different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for
identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security
systems in

Journey In Judaism
According to tradition, we say at the end of the Seder night the request Next year in Jerusalem! . So
what happens if I live in Jerusalem? Do you say this year in Jerusalem! Just skip it? You can be miles
away from Jerusalem, even if you live there. On the other hand, you can be on the other side of the
world but very close to Jerusalem. Because Jerusalem is more than a geographical location. Jerusalem
is an ideal for which we struggle. The Jewish story can be summed up as a long journey from Egypt to
Jerusalem. Beyond being geographic sites, Egypt and Jerusalem symbolize two opposite spiritual
states. This journey is a journey of spiritual tribulations. Both as a nation and as individuals, we have
always lived the slavery of Egypt and marched towards freedom in the Promised Land. ... Show more

and related to physical limitations. This is a world where justice and holiness are held hostage to

Legitimacy Of The Iraq War
The Iraq War was the culmination of a decades long trend of tension between the United States and
Iraq. The 2003 invasion which market the formal start of the war was precipitated by the Bush
administration s belief that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), and as a result
posed a direct threat not only to the US, but to its sovereign allies as well. Furthermore, the Iraq The
motivations, evidence, and legitimacy of the war have come under heavy scrutiny as many of the
assumptions held at the beginning of the war proved to be inaccurate or completely false. In addition
to this, what should have been a relatively short war was greatly prolonged as a result of an insurgency
that came about following the toppling of the Iraqi government. ... Show more content on

addition to this the amount of destruction that resulted in many cities as a result of bombing had
lasting effects. For American forces everything was much more diligently monitored. A total of 4,491

Langston Hughes Guilt
Langston Hughes definitely wanted to get an extremely critical point across with this essay. That point
was about the amount of guilt a young teenager can experience when not reaching the religious
standards that were established by those around them. This also brings up many questions similar to,
Is a young teenager s brain capable of comprehending religious concepts? and Does society pressure
young people into being a certain way? I believe these are the types of questions that the author truly
wants readers to consider. These issues weren t difficult to capture from the essay due to Mr. Hughes s
clever cause and effect technique. For instance, we saw Langston Hughes s emotional reaction to the
lie he had made about seeing Jesus.

History of Social Work
The development of Social Work in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia has developed
and evolved, influencing people and professionals across the world. Social Work has advanced
through welfare policies and programs with significant historical changes occurring and a shift in
religious and political views allowing these changes to benefit members of society and address social
issues. Key events such as the Elizabethan Poor Law, the industrial revolution, the first charity
organised society (COS) and the settlement movement were established mainly in the United
Kingdom however similar models were then adapted in the United States and Australia. Pioneering
members of society helped advocate for human rights, social reform ... Show more content on

By the end of 1860, it was becoming apparent that outdoor relief was draining community resources
as poverty increased throughout the United Kingdom and other forms of support were needing to be
created as people were becoming aware that it was not just a case of the poor seeking relief because of
their character, but more so of the conditions they were living in (Dulmus amp; Sowers, 2012).
The settlement movement became another key feature in establishing Social Work in a bid for society
to focus on the causes of poverty rather than the individual. This required the volunteer or social
worker to live in the houses with the residents, Neighbourhood based houses were established in a bid
to bring people together from different socio economic and cultural backgrounds to share knowledge,
skills and values (Chenoweth amp; McAuliffe, 2012, p. 35). In 1869, Octavia Hill focused
establishing support housing in London for the poor and organising groups and activities. Octavia
strongly believed that we were to help the poor help themselves by empowering people with rights to
encourage responsibility (Smith, 2008). Settlement houses soon established the first by Samuel and
Henrietta Barnett in 1884 in London, named Toynbee Hall. The United States were quick to follow in
this new development as Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Star established America s, Hull House in
1889. By 1890, settlements were known as an important method in researching and analysing social

Theoretical Cause Of Crime
A thorough understanding of the many theories of criminology is the grounding of knowledge to any
criminal justice practitioner or policy maker. Policy makers can utilize the theoretical understanding to
design policies that not only address remedies to the current crime problem, but also find the
underlying cause of crime to further deter it. Criminal justice practitioners can use criminological
theories to address the cause of crime and offer a rehabilitative fix, rather than simply incarcerate
offenders.
Four theoretical aspects that any criminal theory must incorporate to be a true theory of crime are
correlation, theoretical rationale, time sequence, and an absence of spuriousness (Akers Sellers, 2013).
Correlation must do with how the theoretical cause of crime leads to the commission of crime.
Theoretical rationale explains why the theoretical origin of crime causes the crime. The time sequence
must show that the theoretical cause of crime always precedes the crime. The final aspect, the absence
of spuriousness, rules out other causes for the crime as the real explanation of crime. (Akers Sellers,
2013).
A major challenge that faces the criminal justice field today are youth gangs. Strain Theory is perhaps
the best theoretical explanation of juvenile gang criminal activity. Agnew clarified strain as the
relationships in which others are not treating the individual as he or she would like to be treated.

A Critical Discourse Analysis Framework Essay
Methodology A critical discourse analysis framework News is manufactured industrially and deeply
influenced by the bureaucratic and economic structure of the media industry, by relations between the
media and other industries, and by relations with authoritative apparatuses and institutions such as
government. It reflects the prevailing values of a society in a particular historical context and
simultaneously shapes the society in return (Fowler, 1991/2013). Although we cannot simply suggest
an explicit causal relation between structurally determined material and symbolic resources and the
actual cultural practices, a pure linguistic analysis may still overlook the external constraints and the
effects of the cultural practices. The embryo of cultural studies finds its roots in the historical context
of a social structure shaped by industrial capitalism and the increasingly commercialized system of
cultural production, distribution, and consumption. To some extent, the reference to power and
struggle, domination and subordinations is the mantra to sustain and legitimatize the existing cultural
studies literature (N. Graham, 1999). While avoiding the notion that Marxism and cultural studies
form immediate affinity, cultural studies still has to establish itself as a worldly vocation by coping
with the tension between the study of the text and its affiliations with institutions, classes, nations,
races, and genders, and etc. (Hall, 1999a). The representation of the Hong

Conspiracy theorists are often labeled as lunatics that spit out senseless claims with no real substance.
The mere mention of the word conspiracy seems to set off an internal alarm bell that causes scholars

The Temple of Poseidon: Sounion
In southern Attica, along the dramatic and sweeping coastline, is the location of the Temple of
Poseidon at Sounion. Poseidon is the god of the sea, so this is clearly an appropriate location as it
looks onward and outward towards the island of Crete and is also surrounded by water on three of it s
four sides. To the south and east is the Sea of Crete and to the north and west, the Aegean Sea, which
was named for Aegeus, the king of Athens. The Temple of Poseidon was built in the mid late 5th
century B.C., which was also during the same period of time that the great monuments of the Athenian
acropolis were being built. Excavations throughout history have proven that this was not the first
temple at this monumental location, as the original temple was most likely destroyed during the
Persian invasions around 400 B.C..
The Temple of Athena is very close by and the two monuments together provided religious sanctuary
for the citizens of Athens. The region of Attica and Sounion has been inhabited since a very early time
and we know this from the discovery of prehistoric tombs dated all the way back to the 3rd
millennium B.C.. The earliest reference to Sounion was in the infamous poem by Homer, The

Criminal Activities On The Dark Web Essay
A severe dilemma associated with the increasing availability of the World Wide Web is the use of the
Dark Web as a means for criminal activities throughout the world. The Web consists of the Surface
Web which allows access to popular sites like YouTube and Facebook, the Deep Web, which consist
of private databases and libraries filtered out by common search engines like Google, and the Dark
Web which is intentionally hidden for reasons of anonymity; whether for good or bad reasons. There
are three main solutions that help fray criminal activities on the Dark Web: the use of specialized
government agencies to regulate and police the Dark Web, the fixation of resources to combat more
serious criminal activities: and conducting more research of the content and workings of the Dark
Web. Further examining the need for more research of the Dark Web will help elaborate why the use
of specialized government agencies and the fixation of resources on more serious crimes should not be
accepted has valid solutions. With the advancement of online anonymity tools, people world wide can
now use the Web to communicate and interact without leaving a trace of their activities or intentions.
The ability to have full anonymity while using the Web has created what is call the Dark Web. The

Microbial Regulation oin the Food Industry
Microbiology Topic Paper:
Microbial Regulation in the Food Industry
Microorganisms have been involved I the development of food items throughout history. Although at
first it may have not been intentional over time humans have study and experimented with culturing
microbes to prolong the shelf life of foods, inadvertently changing the taste and textures of the food
item as well. As safety concerns spread in the 1900s regulations were formed to ensure the safety and
well being of humans. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Admiration is the organization
that determines the overall safeness of a food element.
When Microbes are used in food they tend to fall under two types of categories in the FDA regulatory
classifications. The first category would be the generally recognized as safe category or GRAS
published as a proposed rule in 1997. Microbes considered GRAS fall under multiple definitions. If a
microbe was utilized prior to 1958 as an additive with no apparent side effects and proven to be safe
over time, it will fall under GRAS via being grandfathered in. Another way in which a microbe

Alicia My Story, Book Summary Essay
The main character in this story is a Jewish girl named Alicia. When the book starts she is ten years
old, she lives in the Polish town of Buczacz with her four brothers,
Moshe, Zachary, Bunio, and Herzl, and her mother and father . The holocaust experience began subtly
at first when the Russians began to occupy Buczacz. When her brother
Moshe was killed at a Boys School in Russia and her father was gathered up by
German authorities, the reality of the whole situation quickly became very real. Her father was taken
away shortly after the Russians had moved out and the Germans began to occupy Buczacz. Once the
Germans occupied, they moved the Jewish population of
Buczacz into mass ghettos. Alicia and the rest of her family had to share ... Show more content on

Here the conditions were very poor. Every day more and more people were taken out and shot. On the
inside of the cells it was a cesspool of germs and diseases.
Every morning the jailkeepers would go around the cell and kick people to see if they were still alive.
One of these times Alicia was taken for dead and put onto a wagon with other bodies. The driver of
the wagon found her, nursed her back to better health and then brought her back to the ghetto.
During this time, before, and after she returned to the ghetto attempts to rid the ghettos of Jews were
called actions . To escape being caught by the German police who took part in the actions, they built
large bunkers to hide from their captors. After several of these actions, the Buczacz ghetto had been
emptied by more than half. At this point the time came to move to a new ghetto.
Alicia had been in this new ghetto only a short time when another action occurred.
This time Alicia was captured and brought to a mass grave with a multitude of other
Jews. Just when Alicia was about to be shot Milek took a gun from one of the shooters and began
shooting other officers. Alicia took advantage of this opportunity, as she had many others, and ran for
her life. She ran fast and far until she found herself coming into a town which was surrounded with
tilled fields. She discovered she could work in exchange for a small amount of food. She worked

Through The Looking Glass
Games have always been around in society, whether they are something which are more recent like
video games and basketball or something from ancient times like the games of Senet or chess. They
have been vital ways to pass time, and have competitions. Not all games are easy to play or easy to
win. Most games require a level or practice to get better in it, and some require intelligence and
strategy. The game of chess is one that requires strategy and intelligence, and as a result it s a difficult
game to do well in. The prominent game that is showcased in Through the Looking Glass is chess, it s
not the only game shown though. The whole entire Looking Glass world is set up like a chessboard

While some readers are surprised by the seemingly split personality of Charles Dodgson, the serious
mathematician, and Lewis Carroll, the imaginative author of children s books, it was his love of play
and games and his need to establish rules and guidelines that effectively govern play that unite these
two seemingly disparate facets of Carroll s personality (Susina 419). Carroll loved to played games
and was always fond of them. Even though he was a mathematician, he was still enjoyed games and
used them to help with mathematics. I feel like this is a reason as to why Carroll puts various games
into his stories, like card games and croquet in Wonderland and chess and the game of language in
Through the Looking Glass. Also children loved to play games, Using Jean Piaget s Play, Dreams and
Imita tion, Blake suggests that Carroll s Alice books emphasize games, rather than the larger category
of play, observing that Piaget described the third period of child development from around ages seven
to eleven to be the time when a child is most interested in games with rules. Alice conforms to Piaget s
model; she is seven years old in Wonderland and seven and a half in Looking Glass (Susina 421).
Alice is right at the age where games appeal to children and this is one

17th Century 16th Century Poetry
How is the poetry of the 17th century different from the poetry of the 16th century?
The poetry of the 16th century and the poetry of the 17th century were mainly lyrical. However, this
similarity of expressing personal thoughts and feelings did not prevent major differences between both
periods whether in themes or in structure.
Poetry in Elizabethan time was based on courtly love conventions which included conceits and
complements. Themes such as the unattainability of the lady, sleeplessness, constancy in love, cruelty
of the beloved, renunciation of love, fine passion of the lover versus icy emotions of the beloved,
praise of the beloved s beauty and eternalizing her as being subject of the poem; these all are ... Show

The possessions and even one s life of the royal cause.
Carpe Diem is another major theme never found in courtly love poetry, but rather in cavalier. Cavalier
poets urge young lovers to seize the day , enjoy the present moment because youth and beauty will
fade soon and forever. The theme of brevity of life also serves the carpe diem, since the best in life
ends Corinna s Going a Maying insists on enjoying youth and love and not to be shy, because all
pleasures of life come to an end when death comes. [Cavalier poets did not take life seriously, because
this life is too short, so one should enjoy it.
As to structure, the form of the 16th century s poems is different from early 17th century s poems.
Elizabethan s poems were mainly sonnets which present a situation (in the octave or in the first three
quatrains) to find a solution (in the sestet or in the couplet) whereas cavalier poets used only short
lyrics composed of stanzas which are simple in verse and style to express their feelings and thoughts.
Although both periods were contrasting in themes and form, poets could express their emotions and
opinions according to the events surrounding

How Advertising Is An Effective Way For A Product

Advertising is an effective way to promote a product, but only if the advertisers can create an
advertisement that can catch the attention of the others and leave an impact on them. Advertisement
images are different depend on the styles of the producers and the purposes of the products; however,
they all need to have the linguistic message and the visual image to guide the viewers into the right
directions. Besides this, the advertisements should be fitting into the country s events or historical
circumstances to be more effective. Besides being known for its delicious spicy food, beautiful islands
and beaches, and dazzling Buddhism gold statue, Thailand is also being known for child prostitution.
According to ECPAT, in 2009, there are about 30,000 to 40,000 children being involved in child
prostitution (5). This is the reason why a Thailand agency, Hakuhodo Bangkok Remix Studio, released
its advertisement for a floor cleaner in March, 2013 (6). Its synergy of the text, image, and kairos
reveal its main purposes: showing the effectiveness of the product, and raising awareness for one of
the world s biggest problems, child prostitution.

Masculinity In The Grapes Of Wrath
In The Grapes of Wrath, the main source of their hardship is the being kicked off of their land;
however, the antagonistic force is the selfishness of the human race. John Steinbeck portrayed the
hardships of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression for families like the Joads through this book,
and it all started off with families getting forced off of their property. That was the root of all the
hardships that would come later in the book. The Bad Guy in The Grapes of Wrath was not the banks,
the landowners or the police. They were all bad guys in some part of the book, but they were not the
bad guys in the book, as they were not in all of the book. The characteristic that they all shared was
the selfishness, which was why the unempathetic, self centered part of humanity was the bad guy in
the book. In The Grapes of Wrath, the Joads come across many hardships and encounter many
antagonists, but there can be only one root and one main antagonistic force. ... Show more content on

Power Dynamic Between Joan And Roger s Episode Babylon
In the episode Babylon from the television show Mad Men, the power dynamic between Joan and
Roger is unusual in that while Roger, a stereotypical white entitled male in the sixties, owns the ad

take the power in the relationship and remain independent.
America has had a historically dominant patriarchal system with a particular type of man in charge:
the white, heterosexual, male, who until the 60s 70s had yet to be challenged in his birthright claim to
authority and status. These men believed they were superior to anyone who didn t have the same

In A Society Where So Much Emphasis Is Placed On The Way
In a society where so much emphasis is placed on the way one looks, it s no surprise that one could be

While there are two different types of anorexia, their symptoms and assumed causes are relatively the
same. Goldberg (2016) notes that although anorexia essentially means loss of appetite, this definition
is inaccurate as people with this disorder are in fact, hungry, but refuse to eat. Individuals suffering
from anorexia, tend to have an obsessive fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, so they start
behaving in ways that causes them to lose an excessive amount of weight, by either restricting the
amount of food consumed, exercising too much, or starving themselves (Anorexia Nervosa: Signs,
Symptoms, Causes, And Treatment; Smith, Melinda, M.A., and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D). These
individuals have a distorted perception of themselves, believing that they are too fat, when they are in
fact underweight, as well as overly weighing themselves to see if they gained any weight, overly
obsessing over food labels and nutrition, and developing strange eating habits, such as cutting food

As seen in numerous examples where wild varieties of species have been crossbred with cultivated
varieties to obtain disease resistant or high crop yielding new varieties, without the genetic diversity
available, none of it would be possible. In 1860 s the European vineyards were completely destroyed
by phylloxera but later grafting with an American species led to a variety resistant to the disease. Also
Indian rice was discovered to be resistant to two viruses and after implementation, led to an improved
yield on 30million hectares in Asia. A single gene from a barley growing in Ethiopia protects the
entire Californian barley crop worth $US 150million/yr from the yellow dwarf disease.
It can be seen that there are linked crossovers between reasons for management and the usefulness of
ecosystems. Wild strains of species, many as of yet undiscovered, have desirable properties, such as
disease resistance and increased crop yield, which tend to be lost in successive generations with
selective breeding under artificial conditions. Natural ecosystems should be maintained so as new
genes can be added from the wild populations to keep crops resistant to diseases which continue to
develop new strains. The ecosystems also may yield new species of plants and animals suitable for use
in cultivation and grazing. Examples include red deer, the loblolly pine and kiwi fruit that have
recently been added to agriculture and forestry economic lists. The merino sheep variety is

Witchcraft Prosecutions and the Decline of Magic JSTOR Article Review
Before the 1500s, prosecution of witches was rare. Trials were conducted against those who were seen
as suspects of practicing harmful magic and occasional mass trials (Bever, 2009, p. 263). These
accusations were often made by children and that of their imagination. The decline; however, occurred
not through the prosecutions but through its suppressing roles and the overall decline in witch beliefs

Bever clarifies why he believes historians often focus only on the rise of witchcraft rather than their
decline. He believes the reason this occurs is because, historians assume their defeat seemed self
evident (Bever, 2009, p. 264). The author explains how the rise of witches occurred, chain reaction

The Role of Socialization of Children in War Essay
For over 20 years, the Lord s Resistance Army has been at war with the government of Uganda,
causing a civil war. The Army s Rebel Groups, have attacked small villages, resulting in thousands of
innocent deaths, and the abduction of children to fight with the rebels. In order to maintain these
organizations, the Rebel Groups are faced with the difficult task of recruiting individuals. With limited
available resources, the Rebel Groups cannot offer any appealing incentives to their recruits, but

After the complete destruction of a child s milieu, biography and history, he begins to doubt [his]
ability to influence [his] environment [or] establish an identity (Kline 2003). In search of a new

of a bleak and hopeless future, the boys find silver lining in the Rebel Leaders who present them with
a new ambition. They brainwash the boys to believe that becoming a soldier is a way of fighting for
something they believe in, and in turn, provide the boys with hope for the future. They motivate the
boys by promoting the strongest and bravest as for a goal for the weaker to achieve. The introduction

up in. The norms communicated by the army to each boy, create a strong basis for the development of
a new personal biography (Oetting 1999). It is evident in children who have been rescued from these
conditions, that they have been more affected by the loss of their family than of their exposure to
violence (Kline 2003). Oetting (1999) further illustrates that the separation of a child from his/her
family promotes aggression and allows the child to disconnect from future ties with peers, school, and
society. This

Viewers commonly it identify by the fascinating video effects as well as the unreal (yet real in the movie) acts performed in the scenes. The idea which I aim to explore concerning the movie in this essay dwells on the usage of cinematographic elements, the theme of fate as well as the stylistic use of literary elements. The movie is well known for the advanced cinematographic effects and for a person who understands film, the effects which are used in the film bring about a scientific as well as imaginary concept which make the film fall under the genre of science fiction. Although most films are fiction, sci fi films are quite intriguing because of the technologically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Neo is with the oracle, she examines him and says that his muscles have not been used and this may also come down to virginity (which is often referred to as pure). It is known that John baptised Jesus and Neo s mentorship about reality may be viewed as the baptism of knowledge concerning the protagonist mission against the evil system of the matrix. • 4. Procrastination Is Natural Essay Is procrastination natural? Procrastination cannot be considered natural, because natural can be define as something that people have become use to doing in their everyday live. In his recent Ted Talk, Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator, Tim Urban, states that everybody is a procrastinator, and honestly, I disagree with his idea. Not everybody is a procrastinator. In the article, What we finally got around to learning at procrastination research conference , by Heather Murphy, she states that at least one out five people are procrastinators. (Murphy, 2017) In making this comment, Murphy (2017) argues his audience to believe that not everyone can be considered to be a procrastinator. Now considering that one out five people are procrastinators in their live, can there be any side effects to procrastination? Been a procrastinator can have side effects, for example anxiety, stress, and tension. Personally, I believe that students go more through this side effects because they are always being bombarded with due dates before the semester has even started. As reported by, Erin Ben Moche from the Chicago Tribune newspaper, Teens report that their stress level during the school year far exceeds what they believe to be healthy (5.8 versus 3.9 on a 10 point scale) and tops adults average reported stress levels (5.8 for teens versus 5.1 for adults) (Erin Ben Moche, 2017, par.3) In other words, Erin believes that teen students stress more than adults because of school. As a student, I personally haven t dealt with this kind of high stress, but in the other hand, I met teenagers who have dealt with this kind of stress during mid terms In the Ted Talk by Tim Urban, he touches the topic of anxiety and stress. He goes on by saying that guilt, dread, anxiety, and self hatred can be a dark playground when people are doing last minute paperwork or assignments. (Urban, 2016) Like I stated in the beginning of my essay, procrastination is not something that everyone does, procrastination is more like a decision someone decides to take when they are been lazy. Facial Recognition System CHAPTER 1 FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM 1.1 INTRODUCTION A biometrics is, Automated methods of recognizing an individual based on their unique physical or behavioral characteristics. For example face, fingerprint, signature, voice etc. Face recognition is a task humans perform remarkably easily and successfully. In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a similar face existing in database else it is unknown. Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person. Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system. Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security systems in ... The settlement movement became another key feature in establishing Social Work in a bid for society to focus on the causes of poverty rather than the individual. This required the volunteer or social worker to live in the houses with the residents, Neighbourhood based houses were established in a bid to bring people together from different socio economic and cultural backgrounds to share knowledge, skills and values (Chenoweth amp; McAuliffe, 2012, p. 35). • 10. Theoretical Cause Of Crime A thorough understanding of the many theories of criminology is the grounding of knowledge to any criminal justice practitioner or policy maker. Policy makers can utilize the theoretical understanding to design policies that not only address remedies to the current crime problem, but also find the underlying cause of crime to further deter it. Criminal justice practitioners can use criminological theories to address the cause of crime and offer a rehabilitative fix, rather than simply incarcerate offenders. Four theoretical aspects that any criminal theory must incorporate to be a true theory of crime are correlation, theoretical rationale, time sequence, and an absence of spuriousness (Akers Sellers, 2013). Correlation must do with how the theoretical cause of crime leads to the commission of crime. Theoretical rationale explains why the theoretical origin of crime causes the crime. The time sequence must show that the theoretical cause of crime always precedes the crime. The final aspect, the absence of spuriousness, rules out other causes for the crime as the real explanation of crime. (Akers Sellers, 2013). A major challenge that faces the criminal justice field today are youth gangs. Strain Theory is perhaps the best theoretical explanation of juvenile gang criminal activity. • 11. A Critical Discourse Analysis Framework Essay Methodology A critical discourse analysis framework News is manufactured industrially and deeply influenced by the bureaucratic and economic structure of the media industry, by relations between the media and other industries, and by relations with authoritative apparatuses and institutions such as government. It reflects the prevailing values of a society in a particular historical context and simultaneously shapes the society in return (Fowler, 1991/2013). Although we cannot simply suggest an explicit causal relation between structurally determined material and symbolic resources and the actual cultural practices, a pure linguistic analysis may still overlook the external constraints and the effects of the cultural practices. The embryo of cultural studies finds its roots in the historical context of a social structure shaped by industrial capitalism and the increasingly commercialized system of cultural production, distribution, and consumption. To some extent, the reference to power and struggle, domination and subordinations is the mantra to sustain and legitimatize the existing cultural studies literature (N. Graham, 1999). While avoiding the notion that Marxism and cultural studies form immediate affinity, cultural studies still has to establish itself as a worldly vocation by coping with the tension between the study of the text and its affiliations with institutions, classes, nations, races, and genders, and etc. (Hall, 1999a). Although at first it may have not been intentional over time humans have study and experimented with culturing microbes to prolong the shelf life of foods, inadvertently changing the taste and textures of the food item as well. As safety concerns spread in the 1900s regulations were formed to ensure the safety and well being of humans. In the United States, the U.S. Food and Drug Admiration is the organization that determines the overall safeness of a food element. When Microbes are used in food they tend to fall under two types of categories in the FDA regulatory classifications. The first category would be the generally recognized as safe category or GRAS published as a proposed rule in 1997. Microbes considered GRAS fall under multiple definitions. If a microbe was utilized prior to 1958 as an additive with no apparent side effects and proven to be safe over time, it will fall under GRAS via being grandfathered in. [Cavalier poets did not take life seriously, because this life is too short, so one should enjoy it. As to structure, the form of the 16th century s poems is different from early 17th century s poems. Elizabethan s poems were mainly sonnets which present a situation (in the octave or in the first three quatrains) to find a solution (in the sestet or in the couplet) whereas cavalier poets used only short lyrics composed of stanzas which are simple in verse and style to express their feelings and thoughts. That was the root of all the hardships that would come later in the book. The Bad Guy in The Grapes of Wrath was not the banks, the landowners or the police.
