Nightcrawler Movie Analysis
Tired of watching the same simple plot with loads of action but no real development? Do you crave a
more intriguing character who is not like the typical main protagonist? If so I have a movie that is
worth watching it well leaving you questioning how society runs. The movie that I suggest you watch
is Nightcrawler written and directed by Don Gilroy. In this movie we are introduced to Lou Bloom
(Jake Gyllenhaal) who is a petty thief just trying to make ends meet. His life is changed when he sees
a cameraman filming a burning car. This leads him on a journey to capture the dark and gritty side of
Los Angeles. He soon begins the blur the lines of what is morally right and what shot makes the most
money. What makes this movie worth watching is the pacing, script, and the characters.
The pacing in the movie is quite simple but it really works for this movie. It starts of pretty slow
giving you enough time to get a feel for Lou Bloom. It also allows you to see the setting and the type
of struggle that he is going through. Then as the movie continues they still allow you to slowly see
how he builds the skills to better himself as a cameraman. Once that portion is complete we see the
movie speed up but still moves slow enough to focus on the main events. The speed also ... Show

This movie shows us how Lou Bloom changes into an overly obsessed and controlling man. The
character of Lou Bloom as said before is not your typical protagonist. He is a very skinny man that
rarely blinks. He takes himself very seriously, never once selling himself short even when he is just
beginning. He is uncaring and unable to understand human morality allowing him to film what others
would run away from. Once he has power he is able to manipulate others and able to create a sort of
leverage to get exactly what he once. Now Lou Bloom would not have been as captivated to the
audience the way he was without his supporting

The Education Of The United States
In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously argued
the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States
Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the most
important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people... [which is
necessary] for the preservation of freedom and happiness. (251). Despite a consensus on the necessity
of education, its actualization has a storied past, one riddled with intense ideological debates,
landmark court cases, petty politics, and, at times, military intervention (e.g. during desegregation).
While lawmakers and judges have addressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, I will outline key elements of Amy Gutmann s Democratic State of Education, including
nonrepressionism and freedom in choosing among competing conceptions of good life and good
society. Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of
Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that the
standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that states
have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively determine
curriculum.
The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and education
leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of
Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the standards were
to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and
life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all students are well prepared to
collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and abroad. In essence, the standards
were created to correct for geographical disparities in educational quality which had made for unequal
opportunities available to students after graduation. Two separate sections of Common Core
Standards, English Language Arts Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science,

Critical Review of a Psychology Research Article on Students
Research Issues in Psychology Critical Review of a Research Article Pupils who exhibit gifted
characteristics along with another disability are referred to as twice exceptional students (Morrison,
2001; Nielsen 2002). This term is used in the article that I have chosen to review, which analyzes the
responses and perceptions through interview, of one particular individual (Andrew) who was
identified as being gifted and talented (G/T) and who had emotional and behavioral disabilities (EBD).
What the researchers aimed to accomplish through this analysis was a clearer understanding of
Andrew s community and school experiences, as they stated that there was a lack of empirical data
focusing upon pupils who displayed such behaviors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teaching, according to the Teacher s Training Agency, ...is a job for those who like and respect young
people (2005). Andrew clearly from his responses, suffered during his schooling, and perhaps felt
disrespected as a result of being labelled. His position as an educator a number of years later, enable
him to look quite critically upon his educators, almost, one could argue with an expert eye. As well as
the questions which are raised about the size of the sample that was used, it is also necessary to point
out the lack of detail present concerning how the sample was chosen. Andrew s reflective experiences
several years after they occurred surely cannot be as valid as for example, a sample of children
displaying twice exceptional abilities within schools at the time of commencing the research. Perhaps
Morrison and Omdal had valid reasons for choosing Andrew as their lone participant, but this detail is
missing from their study. There is no evidence either to suggest whether Andrew was de briefed about
the nature of this study, which could prove significant with regard to his responses to the interview
questions, especially as he talks with such fervour about his experiences. Since they only had one
participant for this research, an interview was an appropriate method to gain access to Andrew s
experiences in school and in the community. An interview as stated in Cohen et al

How Does Mrs Weston Present Emma
Mrs. Weston and Emma s relationship can also be seen in the reverse, however, because while Mrs.
Weston was Emma s governess, Emma was also teaching Mrs. Weston numerous things. Mr.
Knightley even noted this on page 29 where he says, but you were receiving a very good education
from her, on the very material matrimonial point of submitting your own will, and doing as you were
bid . The line points out that Emma has always been very bright and has always been strong willed.
This strong will often meant that Emma would try to do her own thing and manipulate Mrs. Weston.
Even though the friendship between the two is referred to as being based off, gratitude and esteem
Emma definitely would try to get the situation in interest to go the way she desired (19). Emma,
however, never was ungrateful for Mrs. Weston s friendship and we can see at times that the best thing
for Emma can be Mrs. Weston s smile, touch, or voice (99).

the others Emma in some way educates them in some form, however, with Mr. Knightley she really
never teaches him any lessons in the novel. His character is so strongly set that Emma really has no
major influence on it. Mr. Knightley is not only strongly moral he is also by far more educated than
Emma. The only real area that Emma could teach him anything in is in the ways of being a good
husband, but the book never goes into their married life. Their educational relationship in the novel
seems to be very one sided. Mr. Knightley by far is not a perfect man by any standards, but he is sure
of himself and needs no changing from Emma. This is one of the main reasons as to why his opinion
matters so much to Emma because she knows that he is already defined into the person he is, and is
respected by others and she wants to be like

Walter Mitty Essay
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was written by James Thurber, one of the most popular writers in his
time. There are only two main characters: Walter Mitty and his wife, Mrs. Mitty. The rest are
supporting characters in Mitty s daydreams and the people he meets. The setting constantly shifts from
one place to another; we go to the hospital in one daydream, and to a court trial in another. But the real
Mitty is somewhere in Waterbury where you can find a hairdresser, a pet shop, a parking lot, and a
shoe store within 2 blocks of each other. The short story is mainly about Walter Mitty s secret life in
his daydreams. These are mainly influenced by his everyday experiences things he sees, things he
hears, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is always being told what to do. In the American society before, the men were always considered
superior over the women. So in this sense, they deviate from the norm. Another minor theme that is
closely related to the one before would be Mitty s lack of masculinity. The fact that he does not take
charge of the relationship between him and his wife is a big indicator of this. All of these support the
main theme of this story Mitty trying to escape reality through his daydreams. The masterful use of
this theme was a result of the author himself, James Thurber, having a similar condition to Mitty.
These daydreams are what tell us the readers what Mitty is feeling and how he views his own life.
From them we can, therefore, say that Walter Mitty is indeed a person who likes to live a life in which
he feels important and not just a nobody. He wants to be the one in control of the situations as shown
in the four daydreams he had. Walter Mitty, being over powered by his wife in real life, would have
wanted to be the man in their relationship. However, the weakness in him, made him surrender to the
harsh reality that he could no longer change the present situation. Thus, his last daydream showed us

Cyber Criminals, Thieves, And Terrorism
Every day, hospitals in the United States and around the world are working long hours in responding
to emergencies, attending patients, delivering newborn babies, performing surgeries, and foremost
saving lives. Not too long ago, cyberspace has given institutions such as hospitals the tools to
accumulate and file as much information and data as possible in this great space of technology,
networks, and systems. Information such as patient s information, treatments, machinery, as well as
having a better way to have a secure place to store them and have authorization in accessing them.
However, such tools had been used as weapons by those who want to have access and possession of
such critical information and control by cyber criminals, thieves, and terrorists. Unfortunately, it s not
simple to live in a world in which laws can just simply protect institutions that help save lives. Rather,
hospitals have fallen as victims of cyberattacks.
On the evening of February 5th, at Los Angeles, California, doctors and staff from Hollywood
Presbyterian Medical Center, noticed several technical issues while trying to access the hospital s
computer network. The hospital s IT department was notified, and they began their investigation to
determine the cause of these issues. However, these issues carried on for approximately a week, which
was a frustration for doctors and staff members because they were unable to digitally access patient s
medical records and treatments, communication via

will aid in understanding the use of specific laboratory experiments to distinguish between the two
types of bacteria. Included are the materials and methods used to identify the gram positive and gram
negative bacteria and methods which also differentiate between microbes of each group. The
implications of the methods of identification used are also described in this report to give an

Bacteria that can tolerate the high concentration of salt in the media are from the Staphylococcus
genus. A sample of unknown A was also used to stab a gelatin test tube, which contains the gelatinase
enzyme that breaks down the gelatin and changes the media from solid to liquid. A sample of the same
unknown along with a sample of unknown B was then used to stab a citrate test tube each. The citrate
test is used to determine whether the bacteria utilizes citrate as a carbon source. If the bacteria used the
citrate, the color of the media turns green, but if the citrate was not used, the media remains blue. The
color change in the media is due to the presence of the pH indicator bromothymol blue. Afterwards, a
sample of both unknown B and unknown C were used to make single line inoculations on both an
Eosin Methylene Blue (EMB) and a Salmonella Shigella (SS) plate. Each plate was divided by a a line
in half so that unknown B was inoculated on one side and unknown C was inoculated on the opposite
side. The EMB plate contains lactose and dyes eosin and methylene blue. The media is used to

Next in the long, tiresome quest for knowledge of The Flash, I decided to research The Speed Force,

the other major DC super heroes were heavily involved, the repercussions of Flashpoint affected every

Sexual Orientation Identity And Behavior Summary
This article, The Association Between Sexual Orientation Identity and Behavior
Across Race/Ethnicity, Sex, and Age in a Probability Sample of High School Students
written by Brian Mustanski et al. calls for acknowledgement of intersectionality between
sexuality intolerance and racism. When one understands how different dimensions of
sexual orientation are related, adolescent and child health research can improve, for
sexual attractions normally occur during early adolescence.
This experiment used 51,617 adolescents ranged from age twelve to eighteen to
record the sexual orientation of these students (heterosexual, gay or lesbian, bisexual, or
unsure). 1.2% identified as gay or lesbian, 3.4% as bisexual, 2.2% as unsure, and ... Show more

For one example, they say that Asian culture has
little literature on bisexual nature, so they were more likely to be unsure of their
identity. The authors concluded that there were differences in race and sexual identity
with adding that measurements should be taken by states to survey their youths identities
since there are known health differences between orientations.
Precious, the main character in Push by Sapphire, is faced with all kinds of
intersectionality. She dealt with racism, sexism, classism, and many more, but Precious
was also discriminatory against people who she saw as different. Take Jermaine, a butch
lesbian, for example. Throughout Ms. Rain s class, Precious thought of her weird and
not right . She was put down because Jermaine did not follow a heteronormative
pattern. Precious mother might be some cause of this homophobia. Precious mother
views her as an enemy and a rival for her husband, Precious dad. She curses at her
frequently about how Precious is stealing her man away from her. This teaches Precious
that, for her mother, having a man in her life is more important than protection of her
child. Precious never has any positive or healthy relationships around her. She just

Hohenzollern Research Paper
Although the history of the House of Hohenzollen dates back to the 11th century, I am more intrigued
with the more modern 1800 s and the rulers of that era. My paper is based on this and includes two
people whom I think were the most effective leaders within the royal family. The house of
Hohenzollern is said to be a noble family and royal dynasty of prince electors, kings and emperors of
Prussia, Germany, and Romania. Its origin is based from an area around the town of Hechingen in
Swabia during the eleventh century. The name was taken from their ancestral home (the Burg
Hohenzollern Castle). The family split into two groups, the Catholic Swabian branch and the
Protestant Franconian branch. Hechingen was ruled by the Swabian branch until their extinction in
1869. The Franconian branch was comparatively more successful. Branches within the Franconian
branch ascended the throne of Margravate of Brandenburg in 1415 and of the Duchy of Prussia in
1525. The union of these two Franconian branches, in 1618, allowed the creation of the Kingdom of
Prussia in 1701, the state which led the unification of Germany and the creation of the German Empire
in 1871. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Volkswagen s Impact On The Electric Car Industry
Recently electric cars have become very popular in the United States and around the world, but they

inventor Robert Anderson, but it wasn t until the late 1890s and early 1900s when electric cars really
became popular. Twenty eight percent of the cars produced in 1900 were powered by electricity, and
electric cars represented one third of all cars in New York City, Boston, and Chicago. However, its
popularity was short lived when people lost interest in electric cars because of their short range, their
lack of horse power, and the availability of gasoline. The introduction of new electric cars and new car

The Final Infinite Interval And Exponential Gegenbauer...
In this paper, we introduce two new functions on the semi infinite interval namely Rational
Gegenbauer and Exponential Gegenbauer functions and we apply them as basis functions in Tau
method to solve the boundary layer flow of a magneto micropolar fluid on a continuous moving plate
with suction and injection. These functions are a general case of rational Chebyshev and Legendre
functions and this is the first time that they are used in Tau method. The operational matrices of
derivative and product of rational and exponential Gegenbauer functions are also presented. These
new matrices together with the Tau method are then utilized to reduce the solution of the governing

Many problems of physics and engineering lead naturally to the resolution of differential equations in
unbounded domains and semi infinite domains. In the context of spectral methods, a number of
approaches have been proposed and investigated for treating these problems. The most common
method is the use of polynomials that are orthogonal over unbounded domains, such as the Hermite
and Laguerre spectral methods [10, 11, 12, 13].
Guo [14, 15] proposed a method that proceeds by mapping the original problem in an unbounded
domain to a problem in a bounded domain, and then using suitable Jacobi polynomials to approximate
the resulting problems. Another approach is using the domain truncation method by choosing
sufficiently large for replacing the infinite domain with and the semi infinite interval with [16].
There is another effective direct approach for solving such problems which is based on the rational
approximations. Christov [17] and Boyd [18, 19] developed some spectral methods on unbounded
intervals using mutually orthogonal systems of rational functions. Boyd [18] defined a new spectral
basis, named rational Chebyshev functions on the semi infinite interval, by mapping to the Chebyshev
polynomials. Guo et al. [20] introduced a new set of rational Legendre functions which are mutually
orthogonal in . They applied a spectral scheme using the rational Legendre functions for solving the
Korteweg de Vries equation on the half line.

Cognitive Biases In Research
Cognitive biases refer to the tendencies of thinking in certain ways that can lead to the systematic
deviations from the standard of rationality or the good judgment which are often studied in behavioral
economics and psychology. The reality of biases according to many psychological scholars is
confirmed by the replicable research since there are numerous controversies regarding the
classification and explanation of these biases. Heuristics can be termed as the effects of the
information processing rules or the mental shortcuts that are used by the brain in production of
decisions or judgments (Tversky, Amos; Kahneman, Daniel 1983). The different forms of biases are

The Superiority Theory Of Humor
There are many ways that people use humor. It has been used both in positive and negative ways. The
negative, or more aggressive, view of humor is evident in ancient writings and in the merciless teasing
that children inflict on one another. , However, in modern times, humor is now commonly seen as a
positive aspect and that the laughter that arises is the expression [an] incongruity. Because of these
two conflicting view of humor, there have been multiple theories proposed to explain it.
There are two major theories in explaining humor. The first is the superiority theory. In line with the
past views on humor, the superiority theory takes on a much more negative, serious, and intense take
on how humor functions and why we laugh. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory focuses more specifically on the cognition and [gives] less attention to the social and
emotional aspects of humor. The incongruity resolution theory can be applied to many forms of
humor. One example is visual incongruities. We laugh when we see a young child try to act like an
adult around an even younger child. The incongruity is we expect the young child to still act
immaturely around the small child but does not. The resolution is that the young child is playing make
believe or somehow trying to impress the younger child.
The second type of incongruity is through wordplay. Prime examples are puns. For example, George
Carlin said, Atheism is a non prophet institution. The incongruity is found in the meaning of non
prophet and nonprofit. Atheism is known as the lack of belief or denial of a higher being/God/religion.
So, non prophet relates to the meaning of atheism. However, non prophet also sounds a lot like
nonprofit. In the pun, atheism is called an institution. Based off how prophet and profit sound the
same, atheism could also be considered a nonprofit institution. It is, in the pun, both an institution that
does not believe in God and an institution whose primary goal is not to make money. Unlike the
superiority theory, the incongruity resolution theory makes it explicit that these examples of humor are
all in a safe environment or

Music Therapy For The Elderly
Most adults between the ages 65 and 85 have at least one chronic condition (heart disease, diabetes,

Auxin Is Better Than Natural Auxin Analysis
Plant hormones are chemical signals released by a tissue and delivered to a receptor tissue. Auxin is
the hormone most commonly found in plants. Auxin regulates and aids in the development of plants
(Kazan 2013). The acid growth hypothesis states that an acidic ph will enhance the effects of auxin in
seed development and plant growth. Radish seeds were planted in acidic soil and administered natural
and synthetic auxin in order to test for the effect of synthetic auxin in an acidic soil on plant growth.
The reason for this experiment is to test whether or not synthetic (man made) auxin works better than
natural auxin in growth development. It was found that the natural kind of auxin works better in an
acidic environment than synthetic auxin.

After the process of pollination and the development of the embryo stops, a seed is formed. The seed
will remain dormant until it comes in contact with water which causes gibberellins (a type of plant
hormone) to be released which will trigger the layer covering the embryo to produce enzymes needed
to break down the endosperm and release the nutrients that are stored there. Those nutrients will be
used by the embryo for growth. Hormones are chemical substances that help and regulate plant growth
and aid in seed germination (Gutzler and Brewer 2013). There are seven different types of plant
hormones and they all trigger specific reactions. One of the first hormones discovered in plants was
Auxin. Auxin is known to aid in stem elongation and shape direction of growth (Gutzler and Brewer

Describe My Defining Moment
If you have lived for any length of time, you probably had a defining moment. I experienced my
defining moment in the summer of 2010 when I was six years old. You may not think a child that
young could have a defining moment, but you would be wrong. Moreover, our experiences as children
help to shape our personalities, our outlook on life, and what fears and anxieties we develop. My
defining moments happened on a trip to The American Museum of Natural History.
There was nothing spectacular about that day; it started out just like any other. My dad planned a trip
to the Museum of Natural History. I did not particularly like going to the museum. At that age, I found
it boring because there was nothing to do, but stare at things that did not interest me, and that I could

How Does Diffusion And Osmosis Affect The Rate Of Diffusion
Abstract
Cells and molecules in the environment are constantly moving and changing, for cells to function
properly there is a need for equilibrium to be met. The size of the cell and the solution outside of the
cell affects the rate of diffusion and osmosis in the cell. Cells are constantly trying to reach an
equilibrium with the molecules and substances around it, which is why there are such terms as:
hypertonic, hypotonic and isotonic. The procedures allowed testing of whether or not surface area or
volume increased diffusion and how different substance control diffusion. Cells are constantly moving
to reach equilibrium through diffusion and osmosis.

The size of a cell and the solution that surrounds it affects the ability

The Mausoleum Of Emperor Qin Shihuangdi
The mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shihuangdi is one of the world s most precious cultural treasures and
its discovery was China s most spectacular archaeological achievement of the 20th century. Good
morning everyone, I am Zara Frost, curator of the Museum of Warrior and Horse figures from the
tomb of Qin Shihuangdi. Today, I will be personally giving you a tour of the museum and proving to
you that funerary evidence reveals that Emperor Qin Shihuangdi had absolute power and control over
the people in his dynasty, forcing them to build him an extravagant tomb filled with terracotta warriors
to guide him in the afterlife. During the tour, I will be talking about Qin Shihuangdi and how he
controlled his dynasty, then I will talk about the terracotta warriors, how they were discovered, made
and giving you an insight into their physical characteristics, and lastly, what other items were buried in
the tomb with the warriors. Firstly, the first emperor of all of China was named Ying Zheng. He was
born in 260BC during a dangerous period of Chinese History. He ascended the throne in 247BC when
he was only thirteen years old. In 221 BC, Zheng united all of what is known now as China and
renamed himself Qin Shihuangdi, meaning first emperor of Qin . According to Will Durant, American
writer, historian, and philosopher, by unifying China, Qin simplified official ceremonies, issued a state
coinage, divided most of the feudal estates and paved the way for unity by building great highways

Oh the Humanities! Who wouldn t want to study the stories that gave life to the world as we know it?
Read books that saved millions yet also fanned the flames of war. Texts that question reality, truth,
knowledge, wisdom, happiness, and life itself . It seems silly to climb that academic ladder and never

student, and more importantly a good person. This paper will examine exactly why the humanities are
essential to all and the potential they carry. First and foremost, the humanities implore one to rethink

Allowing for discussion of these altering views creates a unique opportunity for students to dig into
their values and ideas to formulate arguments. Students are forced to view topics from the perspective
of others so that they might be able to sustain an argument. Furthermore, when ideas are discussed
new points of views are exposed to students and suddenly this immeasurably important idea of
awareness comes into play. Hearing different perspectives has the ability for students to better
strengthen their argument as well as provide empathy and understanding among those of different

Almost all the governing institutes and regimes around the world have concerned about green

(US) the Federal Trade Commission and the National Association of Attorneys General have created
broad records looking at green advertising. There has been little try to scholastically inspect ecological

phrasing utilized as a part of this range has fluctuated, it incorporates: Green Marketing,
Environmental Marketing and Ecological Marketing. While green advertising became a force to be
reckoned with in the late 1980s and mid 1990s, it was initially talked about much before. The
American Marketing Association (AMA) held the first workshop on Biological Marketing in 1975.
The procedures of this workshop brought about one of the first books on green advertising entitled

Overview of the Movie
American History X tells a tragic story that focuses on two brothers, Derek and Danny Vinyard. The
movie begins with a startling flashback scene in which Danny interrupts his older brother Derek and
his girlfriend having sex to tell him that there is a black man outside trying to break into Derek s car.
Next we see Derek run outside and shoot and kill two African Americans and attempt to kill another
driving away. Derek is in his early twenties and Danny is 16 years old. Danny witnesses the entire
transaction.
In the next scene, it is the day Derek is released from prison, and Danny is in the principal s office
because he wrote a paper on Mien Kampf arguing for Hitler as an outstanding civil rights activist. He
is instructed by the principal, who is African American, to write another paper on his older brother
Derek. As the movie progresses, the viewer learns more about the lives of Danny and Derek. Their

Chromatography Essay
Chromatography is a separation technique in which the mixture to be separated is dissolved in a
solvent and the resulting solution, often called the mobile phase, is then passed through or over
another material, the stationary phase. The separation of the original mixture depends on how strongly
each component is attracted to the stationary phase. Substances that are attracted strongly to the
stationary phase will be retarded and not move alone with the mobile phase. Weakly attracted
substances will move more rapidly with the mobile phase.
Liquid chromatography is an analytical technique that is useful for separating ions or molecules that
are dissolved in a liquid phase. If the sample solution is in contact ... Show more content on

The compounds are separated by collecting aliquots of the column effluent as a function of time.
Conventional Liquid Chromatography is most commonly used in preparative scale work to purify and
isolate some components of a mixture. It s also used in ultra trace separations where small disposable
columns are used once and then discarded. Analytical separations of solutions for detection or
quantification typically use more sophisticated high pressure liquid chromatography instruments.
In liquid chromatography, the separator is called the column and consists in most cases of a tube filled
with porous material called the stationary phase. A liquid, called the mobile phase, flows through the
tube between the particles of stationary phase material. A liquid sample is taken from a mixture to be
analyzed and introduced to a part of the system that is at elevated pressure. The sample is then
transported to a separator by the flow in the system.
After the column the separated compounds enter the detector, which measures a physical or chemical
property of each, now relatively pure, compound and creates a proportional electronic signal. By
calibrating with a standard mixture of known compounds, the nature of the compound in the

How Is Jane Eyre A Narrative Style
Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë, is a revolutionary romantic novel that, through a unique narrative style
and craft, broke off from the Realism of societal writing, bringing a sense of novelty to the novel. This
essay will discuss and describe the particular narrative style that Brontë uses, with a focus on how this
style separated Brontë from other authors of her time period. Additionally, through the analysis of Jane
Eyre s; plot, characterization, and literary historical context, this essay will aim to distinguish Brontë s
approach as being something rather new in literature at the beginning of the 1800s. The
characterization of the heroine of the story and the relationship that exists between her and her

The plot of this excerpt is quite simple and is centered on the life of Jane Eyre, the female heroine, and
more specifically the relationship between Jane Eyre and her husband, Edward Rochester, told from
Jane s perspective. Jane explains how she, know[s] what it is to live entirely for and with what [she]
love[s] best on earth. Here we see again the raw emotion that is evident in Brontë s plot. The plot pays
no analysis toward character or situation. Jane loves her husband, a fact that is quite evident in this
excerpt, yet if we look closely at the words Jane uses the word what instead of who when speaking
about love. The what is Jane s equality in her relationship with her husband! Thus, we see how Brontë

the most defining aspects of Brontë s style and is one of the, if not the most, unique aspects of her
novels, speaking relative to the time of her

Trends of Social Networking
The growth of social networking is one of the fastest growing digital trends to exist. Many social
networking sites boast with millions if not billions of members. Prominent examples of these social
sites are Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Members of these networks use them daily to
communicate, share various types of information or to collaborate with other members. Mark
Zuckerberg founded Facebook in 2004 and its sole purpose is to give people the power to share and
connect with the world. With 1.23 billion monthly active members, Facebook has certainly surpassed
all other social sites. To put it in perspective that is roughly one sixth of the entire world s population.

Social networking is a phenomenon that makes retrieving information faster and connecting to so

The instrumental music of the German composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 1827) forms a peak in
the development of tonal music and is one of the crucial evolutionary developments in the history of
music as a whole.
The early compositions of Ludwig van Beethoven marked the culmination of the 18th century

Beethoven rapidly proceeded to make his mark as a brilliant keyboard performer and improviser and
as a gifted young composer with a number of works to his credit and powerful ambitions. He won
entry into the musical circles of the Viennese titled upper classes and gained a number of lifelong
friends and admirers among them. In 1795 his first mature published works appeared the three Piano
Trios, Op. 1 and his career was in effect officially launched. From then until the end of his life
Beethoven was essentially able to publish his works at approximately the rate at which he could
compose them, if he wished to; in consequence the opus numbers of his major works are, with a few
trivial exceptions, the true chronological order of his output. No such publication opportunities had
existed for Haydn or Mozart, and least of all for Schubert, who spent his entire life in Vienna (1797
1828) in Beethoven s shadow, from the publication standpoint.
From 1792 to his death in 1827 at the age of 57 Beethoven lived in Vienna, essentially as a private
person, unmarried, amid a circle of friends, independent of any kind of official position or private
service. He rarely traveled, apart from summers in the countryside. In 1796 he made a trip to northern
Germany, perhaps to look over the possibilities for a post; his schedule included a visit to the Berlin
court of King Frederick William of Prussia, an amateur cellist, and the Op. 5 Violoncello

The introduction of the book of Kings talks about Solomon being king as well as Jeroboam it then
goes on to talk about the Story of Elijah and Ahab. These two people did not get along. Ahab wanted
the Israelites to worship Baal, Elijah did not want that seeing that, he is a prophet he wanted the
Israelites to worship God. Since Elijah was becoming old he went out to seek out someone who would

it then goes on to talk about the End of the Omrid Dynasty as well as the end of Israel and Judah.
Naaman had been embarrassed of the way he looks due to his Leprosy. He felt embarrassed because
he was the army commander of the king and thought that since he had Leprosy people would look at

The World Is Not A New Way Of Thinking Essay
The world can only appear monochromatic to those who persist in interpreting what they experience
through the lens of a single cultural paradigm, their own (Davis 6). Growing up in a twenty first
century western culture society has created an ethnocentrism view of the cultures that created the
world into what it is today. This thought of western society as being ethnocentric is not a new way of
thinking. In fact, the world has been practicing the act of viewing one s own culture as superior to that
of another for hundreds of centuries, if not even longer. We raise our children on stories of
ethnocentrism, maybe not the far extreme views and acts of it, but the idea that the first Americans
came to the new world and ate with the native tribes, which would only be the first act of a ballad that
would end with only 1.7 percent of the American population being of full native American decent.
Wade Davis goes even further in a view of ethnocentrism for the world. He skips past the well known
stories and express new knowledge of stories never heard before to many Western society cultures. We
all know of Hitler and his terror of exterminating six million Jews in the holocaust, but what about Pol
pot and his extermination of three million people in an attempt to push a better society forward.

the Matrix successfully, as it is too much of a shock and loss. It is true, that it is easier to believe what
we want to believe, very few in the vats are ready to be freed. This can also be compared to Plato s
allegory of the cave. Those who spent their whole lives in the cave will be overwhelmed by the
unimaginable and unknown. They will likely be scared back into their old, familiar life. In contrast,
those who would of been removed earlier, may be more willing to accept this new reality, as this old

The Causes Of The Dust Bowl
The Dust Bowl
It started off as a normal day for the Johnson boys, They woke up, ate breakfast and headed off to the
fields to start their chores. Their chores included feeding and tending the livestock and taking care of
the crops. There were two boys, Rick and Morty the youngest son, Morty loved feeding the cows and
sheep his favorite was a calf named Chad. Chad and Morty have been best friends ever since Chad
was born. When Morty was feeding Chad he looked over and saw a cloud of dust that ranged for

shelter. Four hours goes by and the storm finally passes. The two boys go outside to see that
everything has been covered in dust. They run to the barn and see that all their livestock had died from
dust suffocation. Rick and Morty go in a panic everything they worked hard for was gone. They had
no other choice but to migrate to try and find a job so they can survive. So the next day they packed
everything they could carry and got the next ticket to California. This was very usual for the farmers
in the midwest to do this. The Dust Bowl affected people s way of life in the Midwest forcing them to
migrate to California in search of a job and food.
For years the Dust Bowl traveled the southern plains making the everyday activities not so simple.
According to a English Professor at University of Illinois, Cary Nels on, the dust bowl lasted about a
decade (Nelson). Maria

  • 2. Nightcrawler Movie Analysis Tired of watching the same simple plot with loads of action but no real development? Do you crave a more intriguing character who is not like the typical main protagonist? If so I have a movie that is worth watching it well leaving you questioning how society runs. The movie that I suggest you watch is Nightcrawler written and directed by Don Gilroy. In this movie we are introduced to Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is a petty thief just trying to make ends meet. His life is changed when he sees a cameraman filming a burning car. This leads him on a journey to capture the dark and gritty side of Los Angeles. He soon begins the blur the lines of what is morally right and what shot makes the most money. What makes this movie worth watching is the pacing, script, and the characters. The pacing in the movie is quite simple but it really works for this movie. It starts of pretty slow giving you enough time to get a feel for Lou Bloom. It also allows you to see the setting and the type of struggle that he is going through. Then as the movie continues they still allow you to slowly see how he builds the skills to better himself as a cameraman. Once that portion is complete we see the movie speed up but still moves slow enough to focus on the main events. The speed also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This movie shows us how Lou Bloom changes into an overly obsessed and controlling man. The character of Lou Bloom as said before is not your typical protagonist. He is a very skinny man that rarely blinks. He takes himself very seriously, never once selling himself short even when he is just beginning. He is uncaring and unable to understand human morality allowing him to film what others would run away from. Once he has power he is able to manipulate others and able to create a sort of leverage to get exactly what he once. Now Lou Bloom would not have been as captivated to the audience the way he was without his supporting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Education Of The United States In the two hundred forty one years since the founding of the United States, few have seriously argued the importance of education to society. Although education was left out of the United States Constitution in the interest of states rights, Thomas Jefferson was not alone in believing that the most important bill in our whole code is that for the diffusion of knowledge among the people... Once this framework is in place, I will proceed to explore the perceived incompatibility of Common Core with the principles of Gutmann s Democratic State. Ultimately, I will conclude that the standards are indeed compatible with a Democratic State of Education given the latitude that states have in tailoring the standards and given the fact that Common Core does not exclusively determine curriculum. The Common Core State Standards are the contrivance of a commission of governors and education leaders from forty eight states sponsored by the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The overarching goals of the commission in drafting the standards were to ensure that all students have the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life... regardless of where they live, and to promote equity by ensuring all students are well prepared to collaborate and compete with their peers in the United States and abroad. In essence, the standards were created to correct for geographical disparities in educational quality which had made for unequal opportunities available to students after graduation. Andrew s reflective experiences several years after they occurred surely cannot be as valid as for example, a sample of children displaying twice exceptional abilities within schools at the time of commencing the research. Perhaps Morrison and Omdal had valid reasons for choosing Andrew as their lone participant, but this detail is missing from their study. There is no evidence either to suggest whether Andrew was de briefed about the nature of this study, which could prove significant with regard to his responses to the interview questions, especially as he talks with such fervour about his experiences. There are only two main characters: Walter Mitty and his wife, Mrs. Mitty. The rest are supporting characters in Mitty s daydreams and the people he meets. The setting constantly shifts from one place to another; we go to the hospital in one daydream, and to a court trial in another. But the real Mitty is somewhere in Waterbury where you can find a hairdresser, a pet shop, a parking lot, and a shoe store within 2 blocks of each other. So in this sense, they deviate from the norm. Another minor theme that is closely related to the one before would be Mitty s lack of masculinity. The fact that he does not take charge of the relationship between him and his wife is a big indicator of this. All of these support the main theme of this story Mitty trying to escape reality through his daydreams. The masterful use of this theme was a result of the author himself, James Thurber, having a similar condition to Mitty. These daydreams are what tell us the readers what Mitty is feeling and how he views his own life. From them we can, therefore, say that Walter Mitty is indeed a person who likes to live a life in which he feels important and not just a nobody. He wants to be the one in control of the situations as shown in the four daydreams he had. Walter Mitty, being over powered by his wife in real life, would have wanted to be the man in their relationship. My paper is based on this and includes two people whom I think were the most effective leaders within the royal family. The house of Hohenzollern is said to be a noble family and royal dynasty of prince electors, kings and emperors of Prussia, Germany, and Romania. Its origin is based from an area around the town of Hechingen in Swabia during the eleventh century. The name was taken from their ancestral home (the Burg Hohenzollern Castle). The family split into two groups, the Catholic Swabian branch and the Protestant Franconian branch. Hechingen was ruled by the Swabian branch until their extinction in 1869. The Franconian branch was comparatively more successful. Branches within the Franconian branch ascended the throne of Margravate of Brandenburg in 1415 and of the Duchy of Prussia in 1525. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many problems of physics and engineering lead naturally to the resolution of differential equations in unbounded domains and semi infinite domains. In the context of spectral methods, a number of approaches have been proposed and investigated for treating these problems. The most common method is the use of polynomials that are orthogonal over unbounded domains, such as the Hermite and Laguerre spectral methods [10, 11, 12, 13]. Guo [14, 15] proposed a method that proceeds by mapping the original problem in an unbounded domain to a problem in a bounded domain, and then using suitable Jacobi polynomials to approximate the resulting problems. Another approach is using the domain truncation method by choosing sufficiently large for replacing the infinite domain with and the semi infinite interval with [16]. There is another effective direct approach for solving such problems which is based on the rational approximations. Christov [17] and Boyd [18, 19] developed some spectral methods on unbounded intervals using mutually orthogonal systems of rational functions. Boyd [18] defined a new spectral basis, named rational Chebyshev functions on the semi infinite interval, by mapping to the Chebyshev polynomials. Guo et al. The incongruity is we expect the young child to still act immaturely around the small child but does not. The resolution is that the young child is playing make believe or somehow trying to impress the younger child. The second type of incongruity is through wordplay. Prime examples are puns. Atheism is known as the lack of belief or denial of a higher being/God/religion. So, non prophet relates to the meaning of atheism. However, non prophet also sounds a lot like nonprofit. Hearing different perspectives has the ability for students to better strengthen their argument as well as provide empathy and understanding among those of different backgrounds. Chromatography Essay Chromatography is a separation technique in which the mixture to be separated is dissolved in a solvent and the resulting solution, often called the mobile phase, is then passed through or over another material, the stationary phase. The separation of the original mixture depends on how strongly each component is attracted to the stationary phase. Substances that are attracted strongly to the stationary phase will be retarded and not move alone with the mobile phase. Weakly attracted substances will move more rapidly with the mobile phase. Conventional Liquid Chromatography is most commonly used in preparative scale work to purify and isolate some components of a mixture. Analytical separations of solutions for detection or quantification typically use more sophisticated high pressure liquid chromatography instruments. In liquid chromatography, the separator is called the column and consists in most cases of a tube filled with porous material called the stationary phase. A liquid, called the mobile phase, flows through the tube between the particles of stationary phase material. A liquid sample is taken from a mixture to be analyzed and introduced to a part of the system that is at elevated pressure. The sample is then transported to a separator by the flow in the system. In 1795 his first mature published works appeared the three Piano Trios, Op. 1 and his career was in effect officially launched. From then until the end of his life Beethoven was essentially able to publish his works at approximately the rate at which he could compose them, if he wished to; in consequence the opus numbers of his major works are, with a few trivial exceptions, the true chronological order of his output. No such publication opportunities had existed for Haydn or Mozart, and least of all for Schubert, who spent his entire life in Vienna (1797 1828) in Beethoven s shadow, from the publication standpoint. From 1792 to his death in 1827 at the age of 57 Beethoven lived in Vienna, essentially as a private person, unmarried, amid a circle of friends, independent of any kind of official position or private service. He rarely traveled, apart from summers in the countryside. The World Is Not A New Way Of Thinking Essay The world can only appear monochromatic to those who persist in interpreting what they experience through the lens of a single cultural paradigm, their own (Davis 6). Growing up in a twenty first century western culture society has created an ethnocentrism view of the cultures that created the world into what it is today. This thought of western society as being ethnocentric is not a new way of thinking. In fact, the world has been practicing the act of viewing one s own culture as superior to that of another for hundreds of centuries, if not even longer. We raise our children on stories of ethnocentrism, maybe not the far extreme views and acts of it, but the idea that the first Americans came to the new world and ate with the native tribes, which would only be the first act of a ballad that would end with only 1.7 percent of the American population being of full native American decent.
