their cages and making sure they are well fed. She also lets them out of their cage sometimes to play
and get exercise.

size and will only get worse through the years. Stray cats live hard and dangerous lives in the streets
and their lives can get even worse if they get pregnant. Cats can get pregnant the moment they turn 4

At exactly 11:54 a.m., we heard the echoing sound of shotguns. Although it wasn t noon, Bruce was
blowing duck calls like they were going out of style. Shots were being fired from almost every

As opening day progressed, we improved a lot. Our group ended up five short of the 50 daily limit for
the ten of us. At the end of the hunt, we reminisced about the day s events while we cleaned the ducks,
barbecued and laid out our hunting plans for day two.
Day two arrived a lot sooner than we had expected. Since opening day was complete, additional
hunting hours could now begin at sunrise. When we got out to the blind, the ducks were once again
thick in the air. I don t know why, but as I was sitting in the blind, I remembered a quote I had read in
a Field and Streams magazine. The quote was A successful hunt can not be successful without a
successful duck caller. I have never found a quote to be truer. From day two on, it became my motto.

Access to these energy reserves would open up expansion of the oil industry, which advocates of oil
drilling say will lead to extensive economic development (Karaim 335) in northern Alaska and the rest
of the Arctic region. However, scientists caution that an increase in oil drilling will have destructive
effects on the environment. Increased greenhouse gas pollution from oil drilling facilitate global
warming, which will melt even more polar ice, absorbing more sunlight and harming vivid Arctic
ecosystems. The higher risk for oil spills will harm marine wildlife, which translates to harming the
indigenous Arctic peoples. Their diets will be altered, new diseases will be introduced, and the
changing of the Arctic land will restrict their rich cultural traditions and lifestyles. Although oil
drilling will facilitate economic development in the Arctic, it should not be continued because its
implementation is not sustainable for the environment, nor does it improve the lifestyles of the
indigenous Arctic peoples.
