Friedrich Weber s Theory Of Psychology
PSYCHOLOGY
Psychology is defined as the study of thought and behavior. A substantial amount of people believes
that psychology is not a specific scientific discipline. Social sciences study humans as individuals or
as groups. The scientific method subsists of five processes, which include observation, prediction,
testing, interpretation, and communication.
Ernst Weber was born 1795 and died 1878, was one of the first developers who planned an approach
and prepared for what was accepted in psychophysics. For example, Weber explored the littlest
adjustment in weights or length that people could anticipate. In 1850, Weber had awareness that one
could exam the psychological and physical creations with his mentor, Gustav Fechner (1801 1889).
Fechner arranged the term psychological for this new development, and went on to define some of
Weber s principles of perception.
Wilhelm Wundt (1832 1920) created the first psychology laboratory in Leipzig, Germany in 1879,
which unfolded psychology into a science. He studied psychology as its ability from philosophy and
physiology. Creating a laboratory, Wundt constructed a place where students could study the science
of psychology. With more than 180 students and over 100 coming from different countries, the
students took in the knowledge of experimental psychology under Wundt s instruction.
William James (1842 1910) was known as the Father of American psychology, who studied with

Othello the Outsider
Shakespeare portrays Venice as incredibly advanced for its time. This is seen especially though its
democratic justice system, as we are shown that in Act One everybody has a voice regardless of their
colour or sex. The fact that Othello has obtained the high position of general within the army suggests
that his chances have by no means been restricted by the colour of his skin. Also the fact that he is
treated with the utmost respect from the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, shows that the colour
of ones skin is not seen as a disadvantage in Venetian society. We are aware of its reputation as a very
sexual city through the booming sex trade and it is viewed as a very cosmopolitan city due to its
importance as a trading port. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare used the comments of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo at the beginning of Act One, so that
we had preconceived ideas of Othello and were prepared to observe him as different , however as we
learn about his true personality we feel terrible about forming such prejudiced opinions and therefore
we place Othello high up on a pedestal. This is Shakespeare s intention for his Tragedy, as this
provides the central character, Othello, with a further distance to fall, adding significance to his
disintegration later on in the play. We learn that the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, holds the
utmost respect for Othello proving that the words of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo do not reflect the
opinion of all Venetians: Valiant Othello . We now begin to unravel that these particular characters are
all biased against Othello, due to personal problems. Brabantio s discovery of Othello s marriage to
his daughter sparks a hatred within him and his references to piracy and witchcraft exposes a racist
element in his character: O thou foul thief! Where hast thou stowed my daughter? Damned as thou art,
thou hast enchanted her . Although he was happy for Othello to dine at his house with his daughter
many times before, the intimacy of marriage proves a step too far for Brabantio and aided by Iago s
manipulation, he turns against

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Islamic Banking
ABSTRACT
Missionary effort or approach is applicable to invite the public either Muslims or non Muslims are
implemented through various methods. Nowadays, it can be seen that the Islamic banking industry can
be used as a medium to communicate and spread propaganda. Through this medium, it will
demonstrate the power and advantages of Islamic banking system compared to conventional systems.
This can also be seen in the Islamic banking system is not only widely accepted by the Muslim
community even non Muslim communities are also using this system. INTRODUCTION

The Consequences Of Greed In The United States
Many of the problems facing us today have the same fundamental cause: greed. As a capitalist
country, society is impacted by greed and is forced to be burdened by its consequences. Greed can be
found in just about every aspect of our civilization; healthcare, corporations, education, banking,
sports, banking, and of course the economy. By converting our country to socialism, it will make it so
that others do not have the ability to negatively impact significant parts of numerous human being s
lives.
Health insurance is, on paper, a simple concept. Many citizens send small amounts of money to a
single company so that they won t have to pay a huge hospital bill in the case of injury. The company
then spends that large pool of money as they see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

capital in industries such as energy and steel that may necessitate some form of state ownership, while
many consumer goods industries might be best run as cooperatives. A government that controls
education, healthcare, commerce, etc. has no room for the greed of an individual to take hold,

Application Of A Cuk Topology For Power Factor Correction...
ABSTRACT This paper deals with a Cuk Topology for Power Factor Correction (PFC). Most of the
front end PFC converters are designed using diode bridge and has lower efficiency due to losses with
reduced power factor. The current flow, during each intervals of the switching cycle reduces the
conduction losses compared to the conventional Cuk PFC Rectifier. The converter also provides
protection against inrush current occurring at start up, decreases input current ripple and reduces
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).It works in the Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) to
provide almost unity power factor and low distortions in the input current. To analyse the performance
of this converter, a model based on the CUK topology has been designed by using MATLAB/
SIMULINK software and implemented with Proportional Integral (PI) and Fuzzy logic controller.
Keywords: CUK Bridgeless Topology, Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC), Power Factor Correction
(PFC), Proportional Integral (PI) Controller.
I. INTRODUCTION 1.1 GENERAL
Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are used for many low and medium power drives applications due to
their high efficiency, high flux density per unit volume, low maintenance requirement, low EMI
problems, high ruggedness and a range of speed control. The commutation in PMBLDCM is
accomplished by solid state switches of a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI). There is a
necessity of an improved power quality (PQ) as per the

The Treatment Of Eating Disorders Essay
Eating disorders are one of the most common psychiatric illnesses in today s world, yet they receive
the least amount of attention. In the United States alone, approximately 8 million people have
currently been diagnosed with a clinically significant eating disorder while it is estimated that over 20
million women and 10 million men have suffered from a clinically significant eating disorder at some
point in their lives (Crash Course). There is a huge disparity between the amount of people who suffer
from eating disorders and those that have actually been diagnosed and treated for eating disorders.
Why? Because despite being serious, and often deadly, mental disorders, these psychiatric illnesses
are often overlooked and unrecognized due to the lack of accurate information available about them.
Eating disorders are complex psychological disorders that severely affect a person s physical and
mental health and require intense, personalized treatment. Eating disorders have existed throughout
history, with only slight variances in incidence and distribution. However, the frequency of eating
disorders in the general population has been steadily increasing since the 20th century (Crash Course).
More than 50% of people have revealed the use of unhealthy dieting techniques and chronic
disordered eating patterns while at least 10% of people (in the United States) have been diagnosed
with a clinically significant eating disorder (Stice, et al). As a result of the increased

In the technology world, the latest advancement is only as good as the next thing coming down the
line. The auto industry is constantly bringing us new technologies, whether it be for safety,
entertainment, usefulness or simply for pure innovation (Neiger,C.). Unless you re an inveterate
walker or a mass transit rider, you probably spend more time in your car each week than anywhere
except your workplace and your home. It s not always pleasant. Highway gridlock, a fruitless search
for a parking space or a brush with a thundering tractor trailer can rattle all but the most Zen drivers.

Next up are cars that can park themselves at the push of a button.
If you believe the hype, it would seem that self driving cars are right around the corner. Google has
been testing them for several years, and states like California and Nevada have authorized them for
use on roads although only with a human behind the wheel. Autonomous driving features, such as
systems that recognize hazards and brake on their own to avoid collisions, are already on the market.
But the fantasy of a car that automatically steers you to work while you read the morning paper or
catch a few extras is still many years away. Autonomous driving is not going to mean jump in the car,
push a button, say Take me to grandma s house and go to sleep, said James Bell, head of consumer
affairs for GM. That may come someday, but not soon.
For decades, most automobile headlights were fairly uncomplicated. They pointed fixedly ahead, with
separate high beams for greater visibility on dark roads. Then came the more energy efficient halogen
and xenon lights and light emitting diodes (LEDs). Now, automakers are pioneering a generation of
smart headlights that can automatically adjust their brightness or direction depending on conditions.
And a coming wave of laser high beams promises to illuminate the road ahead for a third of a mile
twice the range of LED high beam headlights while using less energy. Audi and BMW are racing to be

Iconoclasm In The Byzantine Empire
When researching iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire and today s Middle East, one can easily
see the end result of the two ages is similar the destruction of valuable religious artwork. However it is
important to analyze the reasons and intent behind the destruction. By doing this, a person can better
understand the motivation for the artwork s destruction and even determine if history should treat the
two eras differently.
With respect to the Byzantine era, the reason behind the destruction of icons was a theological debate
within the Christian religion. During this time, the creation of icons was believed to be divinely
inspired by God. Iconophiles, those that like and approve of icons, were devout Christian s who
prayed at an icon because of what it represented God. However Iconoclasts, those who work to
destroy icons, were also devout Christians. Iconoclasts feared that in praying before the icons
Christians were actually worshiping the icons. They were concerned that Iconophiles believed the
icons had the ability to perform miracles. In this way the use of icons became idol worship and was
against God s commandment and must be destroyed. In fact, when ... Show more content on

The Severity Of The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
The severity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) accident on the 26th April 1986, led to
the unforeseeable environmental and human health impacts over most of Europe. The extent of these
impacts, predominantly over Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, were later recognised by the world as being
the worst nuclear accident to occur of all time (Balonov and Bouville 2011; Alexakhin et al. 2006;
Saenko et al. 2011). The reactor explosion of unit four ChNPP, Ukraine, a former member of the
Soviet Union, was caused primarily by design errors and negligence of safety procedures by staff
operators (Frot, N.d. OECD NEA, 2000). As a result, caused a sudden power surge and steam
explosion that ruptured the reactor cap and fuel channels to implode, releasing radioactive material
and gases to the atmosphere (Frot, N.d.) The fire and explosion from ChNPP, resulted in the release of
large quantities of volatile radionuclides (Iodine131, Caesium134, Caesium137, and Strontium90),
noble gases (Xenon and Krypton), and fragmented fuel and debris up to the atmosphere (United
Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation 2012). Consequently, the negative
environmental and human health impacts associated from the radioactive fallout required remedial
actions, to re sustain the environment and human health, and prevent further recontamination of the
source pathways. For these reasons, this essay will delineate and comprehend multiple studies that

Catfish And Mandala Analysis
In the book Catfish Mandala Andrew X. Pham illustrates many cultural aspects, including his family
experiences of many disappointments through sacrifice and loss. As a result of moving to America, the
family becomes disoriented. Due to the war in his country Pham s family was forced to immigrate to a
new country. Often families experience events in which they have to make sacrifices, wishing future
generations will benefit. His parents made the decision to move to America for their children to have a
better future. The family felt the loss of their cultural identity by encountering a new one. Each
member lost their identity and culture because they had to adapt to a new world.
Pham states, I am a Vietnamese American man (10). This particular quote is an example of self
identity conflict. Pham feels disoriented about his identity. In many occasions, he feels trapped with
the question Where are you from ? because he feels American but people still do not accept him under
that category. For the whole family, it was a drastic change, escaping from the Vietnam war trying to
find a better life. During the course of the years, each member of the family had a drastic personality
change. Each member adjusted to the American culture on the needs they felt were necessary. Thong
(Andrew s father) was extremely violent. He wanted his children to be very disciplined. His actions
were considered normal in Vietnam; however, in America Thong was considered an abusive parent.

Censorship In Harry Potter
According to Ray Bradbury, There is more than one way to burn a book. And the world is full of
people running about with lit matches. Censorship is a controversial topic that continues to gain
attention. As various books are released, opponents that feel offended in some form begin to try and
remove a book from the shelf. If the argument is lucrative enough, that book just might be removed
from the shelf. As that book is removed, all the sudden other books become offensive and they too
may leave the shelf. What happens when all the offensive books are gone? Will there be books left on
the shelf for our children to read? Censorship is a difficult topic to discuss, however it is something
that must be addressed so that school libraries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my mind it is no different than so many other fantasy stories I have read. I can honestly say I had
not read Harry Potter until this assignment, if for no other reason than it just didn t interest me. Did I
feel like the talk of wizards and spells affected my Christianity belief system? Absolutely not. I think
those that worry their children will want to learn more about witchcraft after reading the book should
be more concerned with prepping their child. My daughter is not old enough yet to read the book,
however, when she is we will have an open honest conversation. I would hope that the ideals and
beliefs that my husband and I have instilled in my child are far stronger than the power of a book. Yes,
books are powerful, but more powerful than parents? When I took something away from my daughter
when she was little it made it that object even more desirable. If we ban these books, are we not doing
the same? We are infringing on their intellectual freedom to have them decide for themselves what
they would like to learn more about. As parents it is our job to help guide them to what is right and
wrong and then pray that we have done our job effectively. We give them out experiences and help
them to identify between reality and fantasy. Maybe that is why some parents so strongly oppose
Harry Potter. They are concerned they have not given their children the faith system that can sustain
an outside perspective. I

Musicians from our grade played the background music of the song, making it even more special to
each of us. After a few days, practicing the class song became a time we all looked forward to,
whereas, in the beginning it was a chore. Each time we sang, the excitement grew in each of us, as we
were determined to be prepared for Christmas Together. Practice after practice, we struggled to recite
each line correctly, concurrently working to harmonize and sway to the tune. The time spent practicing
Brother built a strong bond between our class; something I did not notice until the completion of the
trip.
As the trip came to an end, our arrival time approached. Our class decided to sing Brother one last
time before leaving Pine Mountain, in appreciation of the place that showed us how much we truly
meant to one another. On the bus ride home, positive comments floated around about how amazing the
trip had been and how enjoyable all the activities were. Everyone came to the conclusion that the best
part of the week was the time spent singing together. After a nine hour bus ride, we arrived back at
Bayside, just in time for Christmas Together. The time had come to get on stage and share the story of
Brother with our school. Immediately after the tremendous performance, applause filled the building. I
felt a sense of joy at the appreciation of our performance, as the song meant so much to me personally.

Lab Report For Gram Negative Bacteria
NAME: Zachary R Short
Unknown Number: 118 Points: _________ (50 Possible)
Title: Identifying a Gram Positive and Gram Negative bacteria from a mixed broth
Abstract: I inoculated a T Soy agar with bacteria number 118, for this I used a streak isolation method.
Next, in order to distinguish between Gram positive and Gram negative I used a streak isolation
technique on a CNA plate, then performed the same exact procedure on a MacConkey plate. The
results from the CNA plate showed the Gram Positive bacteria was an Alpha hemolyzer. Next, I used a
P Disc on a T Soy agar inoculated with bacteria 118 and determined the Gram Positive bacteria was
not sensitive to P Disc antibiotics. This revealed the Gram Positive bacteria to be Streptococcus Mitis.
The results from the MacConkey plate proved the Gram Negative bacteria to be a lactose fermenter.
With the Gram Negative bacteria I performed a lysine test with positive results. Next, I performed an
ornithine test on the Gram Negative bacteria, with negative results, therefore I concluded the Gram
Negative bacteria was Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Introduction: The two bacteria from sample number 118 I have identified to be Streptococcus mitis
and Klebsiella pneumoniae. When taking a class like Microbiology it is understood that most
individuals will progress further into the medical field. In the medical field it is important to know as
much about as many different bacteria as possible. One example of why this is

Evaluating The Sources Of Data Variable Is A Controlled Or...
A hypothesis is a point of research for evaluating the sources of data in either a controlled or
uncontrolled experiment using variables. An hypothesis is the prediction that requires the process of
being proved of being false or true (Bowles, 2013). A hypothesis must be clear and simple to
understand that states the purpose of a test. It must contain logical and be testable. The hypothesis
defines what data variable are considered for testing. The development of a hypothesis begins with
identifying the object with an abstract concept of the research and relationship to a statement being
evaluated (Bowles, 2013). There are four stages to testing a hypothesis in statics. The four stages are
state the hypothesis, set criteria for a decision, collect the data, and evaluated the data. A hypothesis
statement contains two parts a null hypothesis and and alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis is
represented as Ho or Hn that is believed to be true or a basis for an argument (Tayor, 2016). It always
has a equal sign (Tanner Youssef Morgan, 2013). The alternative hypothesis is represented as Hi or Ha
that is established as an opposite of the Ho. Ha can only be reached by the rejection of the Ho. Ha is
the desired outcome. A example of a stated hypothesis is as followed: Ho: p = p, and Ha: p =/= p
(Zhong Zhong, 2013). The criteria for accepting and rejecting the hypothesis depends on a specific
calculated value set by the research. The criteria value has to

Implementing High Cognitive Demand Tasks
To implement high cognitive demand tasks, we need to plan for the tasks accordingly to promote
reasoning and problem solving skills, help our students to explain and justify the answers, give the
students chance to discuss and validate the results, and ask students to explain their thinking about the
math concepts. I divided each class into teams of four to work collaboratively on the tasks. Another
strategy I did during these tasks was revise and find different ways to make the tasks easier to start and
complete within the groups. I learned how to explain and the task thoroughly, I walked around the
room more, checking up on the groups. If students had any questions, comments, or thoughts about
the task they could asked me while I was walking around the room. I asked my students many
different questions like inviting, probing, pressing, waiting, orienting, re voicing, connecting, and
explaining questions to help them start or continue solving the task. These questions would extend
their knowledge of the concepts and make them think deeply about solving and justifying their
answers. I needed to prepare well planned intentional questions, think about the barriers and the
challenges such as previous knowledge. To help the all the students in engaging with the task, we need
to allow them enough time to work on the task. During these tasks students work together as a team to

Borders of life and lands Gregory
Boca Chica is municipality of the Dominican Republic, located upon the island of Hispaniola in the
Gulf of Chiriquí. The history of conflict between the Dominican side of the island (influenced by
Spanish colonial rule) and the Western Haitian side is long standing, dating back to the 1880 s. Upon
the modern day landscape there is an imaginary line which divides Hispaniola into a land of two
countries. One side of which is Haiti and the other the Dominican Republic. It is on the Dominican
side where Gregory focuses his ethnography.
Through anecdotal interviews bureaucratic and social borders are described, which not only exclude
and disempower the Haitian residents of the country, but which also also alienate citizens of
Dominican descent due to their financial state. Dominican parents are required to register the birth of a
child at office of Civil Registry so as to be issued with a birth certificate. When the child reaches the
age of eighteen, this certificate can than be exchanged for an adult cédula , which is required for
voting, securing formal employment and obtaining licenses and other documents. However, many
parents, especially those in rural areas, may delay or neglect registering their children s birth, through
oversight, ignorance, or lack of resources to travel or to pay the required taxes (Gregory 2007:36). As

The Anti Semitism
Introduction Scientific racism refers to the application of scientific systems and assumptions to justify
racism that can be expressed as either racial subordination or racial dominance. During the 19th
century in Europe, there were massive technological and scientific advancements. Science provided
information on the human anatomy, psychology, evolution, and genetics that led to the formulation of
racist views against the Jews by the philosophers and politicians. In this essay, I will discuss the
reasons why I believe that the anti Semitism racism within the nineteen century was scientifically
justified as well as the manner in which this discrimination was implemented on the Jewish race. Anti
Semites perspective on the Jews was a development of a broader side of racism, which proclaimed
that some races were more superior to others such as the whites being above all other races. The
reason the whites were considered superior to the other races emerged from the encounter of
Europeans on the Native Americans, Asians, and Africans. The Social Darwinism Theory further
supported this encounter. This theory explained that humans belonged to different species of races and
biologically competed for existence with one another. The theory further explained that only the
superior races could survive the struggle through wars. Social Darwinism has been revealed in the
contemporary society as the creation of fake science because there has not been any biological

Applying The New Framework For Hobby Lobby
With the compatibility standard, Congress and the Court can still choose to apply the least restrictive
method aspect of the Sherbert test but it becomes almost redundant at this point. Where the Sherbert
test assumes that religion and law are at odds such that ensuring government interest must somehow
infringe on free exercise, the compatibility test already assumes that law and religion live together in
harmony without overly restricting one or the other. Because of such an assumption, the least
restrictive method as a standard can be, but does not need to be applied.
Applying the new framework to Hobby Lobby reveals how granting the religious exemption to closely
held corporations can not only coexist with the government s interests of making sure female
employees have access to the four controversial contraceptives, but it also best ensures this interest.
For the sake of argument, let s first consider what would happen without the exemption. Closely held
corporations would have three choices. They could either ignore their religious convictions, provide
incomplete healthcare coverage by paying an extra $100 per day per employee fee, or offer no
coverage and pay $2000 per year per employee (11). However, these companies will almost never
choose to ignore their beliefs, therefore really only giving them the latter two choices. In the event of
the second choice, women would be offered no alternative, affordable healthcare option that grants
them access to the

My Significant Me Analysis
Presently, the images above are the me s that are most significant in my life. My Significant Me is
quite similar to an old, closed book. While I am not necessarily locked and problematical to open, I do
not lie exposed for anyone to read. I want individuals to show a little interest in my story before I
share. Also, I believe that I am the book on the shelf that often gets overlooked since the cover is not
exhilarating. The people I do open up to, I consider precious and dear to my heart. These individuals
witness Comedy Me, who is outgoing and loves to make others laugh. Comedy Me is the life of the

One way my self view has changed over time is Survivor Me is no longer my Significant Me. There
was a time when the most aggressive self view was who I identified as. Looking back at that time in

responsible for myself, but also my loved ones who were struggling. This me was not the most
pleasant me, however it kept my loved ones and me together.
10. The me that has always remained consistent is Hard Working Me. This is partly due to my faith. I
believe that God rewards hard work and because of that I give everything I pursue my all.
11. My father really is the person who taught me to view myself in a positive way. During the rough
periods my family experienced, I did not feel worthy of love. I felt lost and confused due to what my

am worthy. He also taught me the value of hard work and persistence even when life is challenging. I

Mr. Stoyte s twenty two year old mistress, who gives pleasure to the old man, secretly likes Dr.

The Pardoner of The Canterbury Tales Essay
The Pardoner of The Canterbury Tales
How can a man exact vengeance on God if there is nothing a mortal can do to hurt Him? The Pardoner
was born sterile, which resulted in abnormal physical development. He blames God for his deformities
and attempts to attack God by attacking the link between God and mankind the Church.
In The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer indirectly depicts the characters through the stories they tell. The
tale is a window upon the person that tells it. However, the Pardoner s tale seems to contradict this
situation. The Pardoner, an immoral man, tells a moral story because he believes that doing this will
further his ultimate objective revenge upon God for his anomalous physical attributes. He had the

The Pardoner s tale has an important theme, Radix malorum est cupiditas, which translates to Greed is
the root of all evil. However, the Pardoner does not practice what he preaches. His vocation, which
involves selling false pardons and relics for a profit, is a contradiction to his theme. And thus I preach
against the very vice/ I make my living out of avarice (243). The Pardoner continues with his tale and
condemns gluttony, drinking, gambling, and swearing, but then declares that he is guilty of each one.
It is evident that the Pardoner is a hypocrite and that he has no intention of changing.
In the tale, three young rioters discover that a good friend has died and they mistakenly believe he was
killed by a man named Death. They pledge that they will find Death and avenge their friend. As they
embark on their quest, they pass by an old man and criticize his age. They inquire about Death, and
the old man mentions that he left Death by a tree. The rioters proceed to the tree, but find a pile of
gold florins rather than Death. Ultimately, the three young men kill each other in a vain attempt to
increase their personal share of the gold. Thus, the young men set out to find Death and they
succeeded in their search. Their greed was the cause of their demise. The Pardoner is analogous to the
rioters because

Conflict and symbolic interactionism theories can help explain the necessary power level

Why We Should Legalize Marijuana
Marijuana, in a lot of people s minds, is a horrible drug that has very harmful effects, but little do the
people know that it is actually one of the most helpful drugs in the world. Marijuana is shown to help
with many illness including P.T.S.D., epilepsy, and even chronic depression. Many states have already
learned of these health benefits, and have legalized marijuana medically. For some states it s even
allowed recreationally for everyday usage. Overall, the government is wasting their time busting drug
dealers and spending lives and money when they should just legalize it. First of all, marijuana is very
helpful when it comes to medical use. Marijuana a.k.a. weed is a drug that is grown and can be used in

The Sea And The Old Man

The Sea and the Old Man
An old man, alone in the ocean with no other humans in sight, struggles to pull an eighteen foot marlin
close enough to his boat to strike the killing blow. He is tired, and almost at the end of his strength. He
thinks to himself, I will try one more time. In The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway,
protagonist Santiago finds himself in an ongoing struggle for dominance. He must persevere through
pain and adversity in order to catch a giant marlin, and then make his way back home afterwards. In
the beginning of the book, Hemingway paints a picture of what the code hero, or ideal character,
would be. Santiago is definitely one of these code heroes. Throughout the book, he shows incredible
perseverance through difficult situations, he recognizes his flaws and accepts them, and he faces
death, of both his goal and himself, without fear or concern.
Santiago s perseverance is a clear sign that he is one of Hemingway s code heroes. In both his
everyday life and his fight with the marlin, Santiago does not give up and endures whatever pain may
come. At the beginning of the book, Manolin reminds Santiago of how they went eighty seven days
without fish and then ...caught big ones every day for three weeks (10). Santiago has had to go
through hard times, eighty seven days without fish, but he still perseveres through the hardships and in
the end comes back from the hard times. Even

The Effective Leadership Style of Martin Luther King Jr....
Our world is filled with many successful leaders. The gift of being a leader can be learned; however
some individuals have a natural born talent to be a leader. Each leader has his or her own unique
leadership style. The gift of being a leader can be learned. Certain individuals are born with a
charismatic style and can easily be a leader. A successful leader is one who can inspire and motivate
people towards a goal. Martin Luther King Jr. was an individual with a born gift to lead people. The

philosophy and strong beliefs helped lead our nation to the racial justice we have today. MLK is
described as a man who was generally quiet and listened attentively as others talked. Ling (2002)
states, King had a remarkable ability to get people who would otherwise be constantly feuding to work
together . The key to a successful leader is bringing people together. King was able to bring people
together and work together for an achievable goal. He could quiet crowds and calm them down to be
more peaceful. He spoke on nonviolence as the better resolution. According to Ling (2002), For King,
leadership meant standing up for what he believed in and being a drum major for justice . A leader is
also one who can relate to people. King was able to relate to the people who spoke to therefore
African Americans were more likely to listen and follow what King had to say. King was a leader
because he challenged the status quo. He had the courage to stand up for what he believed, the rights
of all people to fair and equal treatment.

next comparable person who ranks with King would be Barack Obama.

The Pros And Cons Of Quantitative Research
This paper primarily concerns qualitative research, but we were asked to compare both qualitative and
quantitative methods. During comparison, there are many noted differences in both study designs, but
not many similarities. Qualitative research uses a subjective approach with a large sample population.
It collects non statistical data, using an unstructured or semi structured technique (Nieswiadomy
Bailey, 2018). Quantitative research uses an objective approach and large, random, sampling to ask
opinions in a structured way. The findings of quantitative studies are conclusive and used to
recommend a final course of action (Nieswiadomy Bailey, 2018). While it is hard to see similarities
between the two, both methods aim to find a solution to a problem or question, the researcher doing
the study may affect the outcome and an analysis of the collected data must be done (Souza, 2017).
What many don t realize is the connection amongst the two. You can say, both types of research build
upon one another, meaning quantitative studies can quantify results found in qualitative research
(Souza, 2017). I read two articles one qualitative, the other quantitative, in which both studies
attempted to gain solutions to the prevention of severe pressure ulcer development. A pressure ulcer is
a localized injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue usually over a bony prominence, as a result of
pressure, or pressure in combination with shear (Souza, 2017 pg. 1). The studies took place

1968 to over 200,000 in 2012. Although the increased number of opportunities has provided women
the chance to participate in the sport, the percentage of women coaching women s teams has decline
over time from 90% in 1972 to 42.9% in 2012 (Acosta Carpenter, 2012). Alongside coaching is the
lack of women working in intercollegiate administration. In 1972, the percentage of female athletic
directors overseeing women s programs was 90%, Today, the percentage of female athletic directors is
20.3%, a small increase from 2010

Alabama Short Stories
In Alabama, in the country, next to a dirt road and a muddy lake that was full of green water, where
you couldn t go to sleep because the frogs croaked too loud, there was a large house. The large house

in front of the wheels of a flaming portable, saving the lives of many kids after the portable rolled into
the lake and the fire was extinguished. One day, the man who owned the house was in his bed at 8:30

in the house. He claimed that there was a ghost in the lake, and that the officer must have been killed
by it! The detectives found this preposterous, and dismissed the man as crazy. At 11:00, the detectives
were still there. They heard the whispering. Maybe the man was right! They thought. Maybe there
WAS a ghost. They left with a report saying that he drowned, but they didn t know why. In the end,
the man moved away from his old house by the lake. The county renamed the lake from Lake Fletcher
to The Haunted Lake. Over the years, three foolish men waded into the lake. All died in the shallow

Civil Rights During The 20th Century
Today, we stand at a precipice threatening a definitive split between Blacks and Jews, and Jews of
Color and Jews. The recent platform of Black Lives Matters denounces Israel as an apartheid state. A
respect for the history of Black political thought demands we not forget Israel and Jews (of all races)
remain a vulnerable minority.
Jews and Black Americans are most often linked together during the 20th century Civil Rights
movement. These communities were victims of institutionalized discrimination and social shunning.
Jim Crow signage proclaimed: No Jews, No Dogs, No Negroes. At the height of the Civil Rights era,
Jews and Blacks marched together and were martyred during the Freedom Rides for voter
registrations.
The 19th and 20th centuries were filled with social and political change from the outlawing of slavery,
the Labor Movements advancement of workers rights, and WWI and WWII toppling of empires and
raising up new nations. Unfortunately, Blacks and Jews continued as subjects of racism and anti
Semitism, with increasing violence. Black enfranchisement was met with government sanctioned
White Supremacist aggression (such as the Klu Klux Klan). Similarly, the Holocaust highlights Jewish
vulnerability. Esteemed historian and Pan Africanist WEB Dubois exclaimed, Every child knows that

Discrimination Against Homosexuals
1.0 Topic and Chosen Report
Discrimination is defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment towards certain groups or categories of
a specified entity. Encompassed within the scope of discrimination is the pertinent subject matter,
Discrimination Against Homosexuals in Today s Youth. As the dynamic generation of the current
world grows exponentially vocal with their standpoints, certain folds in the society today express their
negative outlook pertaining to homosexuals, leading to the ostracized generalization of the already
shunned minority. Therefore, the subject matter of discrimination against homosexuals is rather apt as
a form of oppression.

Dr. Friedman M (2014) emphasizes that although considerable gains have been made in the
acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) into the general community, biasness
is still prevalent and has very notable mental health consequences. This is due to the fact that
homosexuals generally receive greater amounts of discrimination than heterosexuals (American
Journal of Public Health 2011). A succinct paradigm to this includes a recent study which showed that
homosexuals are more likely to commit suicide as a result of discrimination, when compared to
heterosexual. This disparity is due to the discrimination and prejudice faced by homosexuals
(DeAngelis 2002, Vol 33, No.2, Pg46). Discrimination against homosexuals takes a toll on the
individuals targeted and as the evidence illustrates, discrimination in any form ushers in a strafing
array of detrimental effects to the individuals

  • 2. Friedrich Weber s Theory Of Psychology PSYCHOLOGY Psychology is defined as the study of thought and behavior. A substantial amount of people believes that psychology is not a specific scientific discipline. Social sciences study humans as individuals or as groups. The scientific method subsists of five processes, which include observation, prediction, testing, interpretation, and communication. Ernst Weber was born 1795 and died 1878, was one of the first developers who planned an approach and prepared for what was accepted in psychophysics. For example, Weber explored the littlest adjustment in weights or length that people could anticipate. In 1850, Weber had awareness that one could exam the psychological and physical creations with his mentor, Gustav Fechner (1801 1889). Fechner arranged the term psychological for this new development, and went on to define some of Weber s principles of perception. Wilhelm Wundt (1832 1920) created the first psychology laboratory in Leipzig, Germany in 1879, which unfolded psychology into a science. He studied psychology as its ability from philosophy and physiology. Creating a laboratory, Wundt constructed a place where students could study the science of psychology. With more than 180 students and over 100 coming from different countries, the students took in the knowledge of experimental psychology under Wundt s instruction. William James (1842 1910) was known as the Father of American psychology, who studied with Granville Stanley Hall (1844 1924) at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Othello the Outsider Shakespeare portrays Venice as incredibly advanced for its time. This is seen especially though its democratic justice system, as we are shown that in Act One everybody has a voice regardless of their colour or sex. The fact that Othello has obtained the high position of general within the army suggests that his chances have by no means been restricted by the colour of his skin. Also the fact that he is treated with the utmost respect from the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, shows that the colour of ones skin is not seen as a disadvantage in Venetian society. We are aware of its reputation as a very sexual city through the booming sex trade and it is viewed as a very cosmopolitan city due to its importance as a trading port. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare used the comments of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo at the beginning of Act One, so that we had preconceived ideas of Othello and were prepared to observe him as different , however as we learn about his true personality we feel terrible about forming such prejudiced opinions and therefore we place Othello high up on a pedestal. This is Shakespeare s intention for his Tragedy, as this provides the central character, Othello, with a further distance to fall, adding significance to his disintegration later on in the play. We learn that the Duke, the highest authority in Venice, holds the utmost respect for Othello proving that the words of Iago, Brabantio and Roderigo do not reflect the opinion of all Venetians: Valiant Othello . We now begin to unravel that these particular characters are all biased against Othello, due to personal problems. Brabantio s discovery of Othello s marriage to his daughter sparks a hatred within him and his references to piracy and witchcraft exposes a racist element in his character: O thou foul thief! Where hast thou stowed my daughter? Damned as thou art, thou hast enchanted her . Although he was happy for Othello to dine at his house with his daughter many times before, the intimacy of marriage proves a step too far for Brabantio and aided by Iago s manipulation, he turns against ... • 5. The Consequences Of Greed In The United States Many of the problems facing us today have the same fundamental cause: greed. As a capitalist country, society is impacted by greed and is forced to be burdened by its consequences. Greed can be found in just about every aspect of our civilization; healthcare, corporations, education, banking, sports, banking, and of course the economy. By converting our country to socialism, it will make it so that others do not have the ability to negatively impact significant parts of numerous human being s lives. Health insurance is, on paper, a simple concept. Many citizens send small amounts of money to a single company so that they won t have to pay a huge hospital bill in the case of injury. • 6. Application Of A Cuk Topology For Power Factor Correction... ABSTRACT This paper deals with a Cuk Topology for Power Factor Correction (PFC). Most of the front end PFC converters are designed using diode bridge and has lower efficiency due to losses with reduced power factor. The current flow, during each intervals of the switching cycle reduces the conduction losses compared to the conventional Cuk PFC Rectifier. The converter also provides protection against inrush current occurring at start up, decreases input current ripple and reduces Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).It works in the Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) to provide almost unity power factor and low distortions in the input current. To analyse the performance of this converter, a model based on the CUK topology has been designed by using MATLAB/ SIMULINK software and implemented with Proportional Integral (PI) and Fuzzy logic controller. Keywords: CUK Bridgeless Topology, Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC), Power Factor Correction (PFC), Proportional Integral (PI) Controller. I. INTRODUCTION 1.1 GENERAL Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are used for many low and medium power drives applications due to their high efficiency, high flux density per unit volume, low maintenance requirement, low EMI problems, high ruggedness and a range of speed control. The commutation in PMBLDCM is accomplished by solid state switches of a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI). There is a necessity of an improved power quality (PQ) as per the ... • 7. The Treatment Of Eating Disorders Essay Eating disorders are one of the most common psychiatric illnesses in today s world, yet they receive the least amount of attention. In the United States alone, approximately 8 million people have currently been diagnosed with a clinically significant eating disorder while it is estimated that over 20 million women and 10 million men have suffered from a clinically significant eating disorder at some point in their lives (Crash Course). There is a huge disparity between the amount of people who suffer from eating disorders and those that have actually been diagnosed and treated for eating disorders. Why? Because despite being serious, and often deadly, mental disorders, these psychiatric illnesses are often overlooked and unrecognized due to the lack of accurate information available about them. Eating disorders are complex psychological disorders that severely affect a person s physical and mental health and require intense, personalized treatment. Eating disorders have existed throughout history, with only slight variances in incidence and distribution. However, the frequency of eating disorders in the general population has been steadily increasing since the 20th century (Crash Course). More than 50% of people have revealed the use of unhealthy dieting techniques and chronic disordered eating patterns while at least 10% of people (in the United States) have been diagnosed with a clinically significant eating disorder (Stice, et al). February 23, 2015 In the technology world, the latest advancement is only as good as the next thing coming down the line. The auto industry is constantly bringing us new technologies, whether it be for safety, entertainment, usefulness or simply for pure innovation (Neiger,C.). Unless you re an inveterate walker or a mass transit rider, you probably spend more time in your car each week than anywhere except your workplace and your home. It s not always pleasant. Highway gridlock, a fruitless search for a parking space or a brush with a thundering tractor trailer can rattle all but the most Zen drivers. Things are about to get better. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next up are cars that can park themselves at the push of a button. If you believe the hype, it would seem that self driving cars are right around the corner. Google has been testing them for several years, and states like California and Nevada have authorized them for use on roads although only with a human behind the wheel. Autonomous driving features, such as systems that recognize hazards and brake on their own to avoid collisions, are already on the market. But the fantasy of a car that automatically steers you to work while you read the morning paper or catch a few extras is still many years away. Autonomous driving is not going to mean jump in the car, push a button, say Take me to grandma s house and go to sleep, said James Bell, head of consumer affairs for GM. That may come someday, but not soon. For decades, most automobile headlights were fairly uncomplicated. They pointed fixedly ahead, with separate high beams for greater visibility on dark roads. Then came the more energy efficient halogen and xenon lights and light emitting diodes (LEDs). Now, automakers are pioneering a generation of smart headlights that can automatically adjust their brightness or direction depending on conditions. And a coming wave of laser high beams promises to illuminate the road ahead for a third of a mile twice the range of LED high beam headlights while using less energy. • 10. Iconoclasm In The Byzantine Empire When researching iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire and today s Middle East, one can easily see the end result of the two ages is similar the destruction of valuable religious artwork. However it is important to analyze the reasons and intent behind the destruction. By doing this, a person can better understand the motivation for the artwork s destruction and even determine if history should treat the two eras differently. With respect to the Byzantine era, the reason behind the destruction of icons was a theological debate within the Christian religion. During this time, the creation of icons was believed to be divinely inspired by God. Iconophiles, those that like and approve of icons, were devout Christian s who prayed at an icon because of what it represented God. However Iconoclasts, those who work to destroy icons, were also devout Christians. Iconoclasts feared that in praying before the icons Christians were actually worshiping the icons. The Severity Of The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant The severity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) accident on the 26th April 1986, led to the unforeseeable environmental and human health impacts over most of Europe. The extent of these impacts, predominantly over Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, were later recognised by the world as being the worst nuclear accident to occur of all time (Balonov and Bouville 2011; Alexakhin et al. 2006; Saenko et al. 2011). The reactor explosion of unit four ChNPP, Ukraine, a former member of the Soviet Union, was caused primarily by design errors and negligence of safety procedures by staff operators (Frot, N.d. OECD NEA, 2000). As a result, caused a sudden power surge and steam explosion that ruptured the reactor cap and fuel channels to implode, releasing radioactive material and gases to the atmosphere (Frot, N.d.) The fire and explosion from ChNPP, resulted in the release of large quantities of volatile radionuclides (Iodine131, Caesium134, Caesium137, and Strontium90), noble gases (Xenon and Krypton), and fragmented fuel and debris up to the atmosphere (United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation 2012). Consequently, the negative environmental and human health impacts associated from the radioactive fallout required remedial actions, to re sustain the environment and human health, and prevent further recontamination of the source pathways. I think those that worry their children will want to learn more about witchcraft after reading the book should be more concerned with prepping their child. My daughter is not old enough yet to read the book, however, when she is we will have an open honest conversation. I would hope that the ideals and beliefs that my husband and I have instilled in my child are far stronger than the power of a book. Yes, books are powerful, but more powerful than parents? Next, in order to distinguish between Gram positive and Gram negative I used a streak isolation technique on a CNA plate, then performed the same exact procedure on a MacConkey plate. The results from the CNA plate showed the Gram Positive bacteria was an Alpha hemolyzer. Next, I used a P Disc on a T Soy agar inoculated with bacteria 118 and determined the Gram Positive bacteria was not sensitive to P Disc antibiotics. This revealed the Gram Positive bacteria to be Streptococcus Mitis. The results from the MacConkey plate proved the Gram Negative bacteria to be a lactose fermenter. With the Gram Negative bacteria I performed a lysine test with positive results. Next, I performed an ornithine test on the Gram Negative bacteria, with negative results, therefore I concluded the Gram Negative bacteria was Klebsiella pneumoniae. Introduction: The two bacteria from sample number 118 I have identified to be Streptococcus mitis and Klebsiella pneumoniae. A hypothesis is a point of research for evaluating the sources of data in either a controlled or uncontrolled experiment using variables. An hypothesis is the prediction that requires the process of being proved of being false or true (Bowles, 2013). A hypothesis must be clear and simple to understand that states the purpose of a test. It must contain logical and be testable. The hypothesis defines what data variable are considered for testing. The development of a hypothesis begins with identifying the object with an abstract concept of the research and relationship to a statement being evaluated (Bowles, 2013). There are four stages to testing a hypothesis in statics. The four stages are state the hypothesis, set criteria for a decision, collect the data, and evaluated the data. A hypothesis statement contains two parts a null hypothesis and and alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis is represented as Ho or Hn that is believed to be true or a basis for an argument (Tayor, 2016). It always has a equal sign (Tanner Youssef Morgan, 2013). The alternative hypothesis is represented as Hi or Ha that is established as an opposite of the Ho. Ha can only be reached by the rejection of the Ho. Ha is the desired outcome. A example of a stated hypothesis is as followed: Ho: p = p, and Ha: p =/= p (Zhong Zhong, 2013). The criteria for accepting and rejecting the hypothesis depends on a specific calculated value set by the research. The criteria value has to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. The Anti Semitism Introduction Scientific racism refers to the application of scientific systems and assumptions to justify racism that can be expressed as either racial subordination or racial dominance. During the 19th century in Europe, there were massive technological and scientific advancements. Science provided information on the human anatomy, psychology, evolution, and genetics that led to the formulation of racist views against the Jews by the philosophers and politicians. In this essay, I will discuss the reasons why I believe that the anti Semitism racism within the nineteen century was scientifically justified as well as the manner in which this discrimination was implemented on the Jewish race. Anti Semites perspective on the Jews was a development of a broader side of racism, which proclaimed that some races were more superior to others such as the whites being above all other races. The reason the whites were considered superior to the other races emerged from the encounter of Europeans on the Native Americans, Asians, and Africans. The Social Darwinism Theory further supported this encounter. This theory explained that humans belonged to different species of races and biologically competed for existence with one another. The theory further explained that only the superior races could survive the struggle through wars. Applying The New Framework For Hobby Lobby With the compatibility standard, Congress and the Court can still choose to apply the least restrictive method aspect of the Sherbert test but it becomes almost redundant at this point. Where the Sherbert test assumes that religion and law are at odds such that ensuring government interest must somehow infringe on free exercise, the compatibility test already assumes that law and religion live together in harmony without overly restricting one or the other. Because of such an assumption, the least restrictive method as a standard can be, but does not need to be applied. Applying the new framework to Hobby Lobby reveals how granting the religious exemption to closely held corporations can not only coexist with the government s interests of making sure female employees have access to the four controversial contraceptives, but it also best ensures this interest. For the sake of argument, let s first consider what would happen without the exemption. Closely held corporations would have three choices. They could either ignore their religious convictions, provide incomplete healthcare coverage by paying an extra $100 per day per employee fee, or offer no coverage and pay $2000 per year per employee (11). However, these companies will almost never choose to ignore their beliefs, therefore really only giving them the latter two choices. Quantitative research uses an objective approach and large, random, sampling to ask opinions in a structured way. The findings of quantitative studies are conclusive and used to recommend a final course of action (Nieswiadomy Bailey, 2018). While it is hard to see similarities between the two, both methods aim to find a solution to a problem or question, the researcher doing the study may affect the outcome and an analysis of the collected data must be done (Souza, 2017). What many don t realize is the connection amongst the two. You can say, both types of research build upon one another, meaning quantitative studies can quantify results found in qualitative research (Souza, 2017). I read two articles one qualitative, the other quantitative, in which both studies attempted to gain solutions to the prevention of severe pressure ulcer development. A pressure ulcer is a localized injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue usually over a bony prominence, as a result of pressure, or pressure in combination with shear (Souza, 2017 pg. 1). • 32. The Impact Of Title Ix On Career Opportunities For... Research Assignment 1. The search term I used to search for this article was Title IX in sport. I used the OneSearch Database through UNF s online library. I selected this study because it focuses on the impact of Title IX on the career opportunities in intercollegiate athletic administration. Bower, G.G., Hums, M.A. (2013). The impact of Title IX on career opportunities in intercollegiate athletic administration. Journal of Intercollegiate Sport (6), 213 230. 2. The literature review of this article focuses on Title IX itself, as well as statistical numbers that provide the reader knowledge about the impact it has had. Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that has removed many barriers that once prevented people, on the basis of sex, from participating in educational opportunities and careers of their choice (Bower Hums, 2013). Acosta and Carpenter (2012) reported that the number of female athletes playing college sports has risen from 16,000 in 1968 to over 200,000 in 2012. Although the increased number of opportunities has provided women the chance to participate in the sport, the percentage of women coaching women s teams has decline over time from 90% in 1972 to 42.9% in 2012 (Acosta Carpenter, 2012). Alongside coaching is the lack of women working in intercollegiate administration. In 1972, the percentage of female athletic directors overseeing women s programs was 90%, Today, the percentage of female athletic directors is 20.3%, a small increase from 2010 ... • 33. Alabama Short Stories In Alabama, in the country, next to a dirt road and a muddy lake that was full of green water, where you couldn t go to sleep because the frogs croaked too loud, there was a large house. The large house was made of splintery wood, and was inhabited by only one person. Now, the lake that his house was built on had been where a boy named Ronald Pratt had been ran over after removing the bricks from in front of the wheels of a flaming portable, saving the lives of many kids after the portable rolled into the lake and the fire was extinguished. One day, the man who owned the house was in his bed at 8:30 pm and he heard a whisper. He couldn t make out any words, but he heard it all right. He pulled out a flashlight and grabbed his rifle to go and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Five minutes later, he had drowned. A week later, detectives came to investigate his death. They found it odd that he had drowned in water just shy of a foot deep. The officer knew how to swim: they had seen him complete triathlons. So what had happened to him. They decided to question the man living in the house. He claimed that there was a ghost in the lake, and that the officer must have been killed by it! The detectives found this preposterous, and dismissed the man as crazy. At 11:00, the detectives were still there. They heard the whispering. Maybe the man was right! They thought. Maybe there WAS a ghost. They left with a report saying that he drowned, but they didn t know why. In the end, the man moved away from his old house by the lake. The county renamed the lake from Lake Fletcher to The Haunted Lake. Over the years, three foolish men waded into the lake. All died in the shallow water. The county put signs up saying NO SWIMMING. The lake became a popular tourist attraction, and visitors would come from all over the south to see the Haunted Lake. Also, no one s been swimming in it ever since. You would have to be FOOLISH to go in a place where a ghost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. High School Persuasive Speech With the classic top down, the kids are joking, passing the marijuana joints around and drowning their senses with beer, completely unconcerned that everyone can see them. To the people passing, it looks like a bunch of delinquent high school kids on drugs out looking for trouble. None of them the least bit concerned that at any given moment, a simple phone call to local law enforcement and their little party is over, and instead of heading to a festivity, accompanied to jail. Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name, Automobiles in both lanes move quickly along the sides of the speeding car. Suddenly the students start pointing at one another, laughing. • 35. Civil Rights During The 20th Century Today, we stand at a precipice threatening a definitive split between Blacks and Jews, and Jews of Color and Jews. The recent platform of Black Lives Matters denounces Israel as an apartheid state. A respect for the history of Black political thought demands we not forget Israel and Jews (of all races) remain a vulnerable minority. Jews and Black Americans are most often linked together during the 20th century Civil Rights movement. These communities were victims of institutionalized discrimination and social shunning. Jim Crow signage proclaimed: No Jews, No Dogs, No Negroes. At the height of the Civil Rights era, Jews and Blacks marched together and were martyred during the Freedom Rides for voter registrations. The 19th and 20th centuries were filled with social and political change from the outlawing of slavery, the Labor Movements advancement of workers rights, and WWI and WWII toppling of empires and raising up new nations. Unfortunately, Blacks and Jews continued as subjects of racism and anti Semitism, with increasing violence. Black enfranchisement was met with government sanctioned White Supremacist aggression (such as the Klu Klux Klan). Similarly, the Holocaust highlights Jewish vulnerability. Esteemed historian and Pan Africanist WEB Dubois exclaimed, Every child knows that ancient Jewish civilization and religion centered in Palestine... • 36. Homosexual Issues Analysis Report Issue Analysis Report Discrimination Against Homosexuals 1.0 Topic and Chosen Report Discrimination is defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment towards certain groups or categories of a specified entity. Encompassed within the scope of discrimination is the pertinent subject matter, Discrimination Against Homosexuals in Today s Youth. As the dynamic generation of the current world grows exponentially vocal with their standpoints, certain folds in the society today express their negative outlook pertaining to homosexuals, leading to the ostracized generalization of the already shunned minority. Therefore, the subject matter of discrimination against homosexuals is rather apt as a form of oppression. 1.1 Critical Evaluation of Findings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Friedman M (2014) emphasizes that although considerable gains have been made in the acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) into the general community, biasness is still prevalent and has very notable mental health consequences. This is due to the fact that homosexuals generally receive greater amounts of discrimination than heterosexuals (American Journal of Public Health 2011). A succinct paradigm to this includes a recent study which showed that homosexuals are more likely to commit suicide as a result of discrimination, when compared to heterosexual. This disparity is due to the discrimination and prejudice faced by homosexuals (DeAngelis 2002, Vol 33, No.2, Pg46). Discrimination against homosexuals takes a toll on the individuals targeted and as the evidence illustrates, discrimination in any form ushers in a strafing array of detrimental effects to the individuals ...
