Essay On World Population Day
Crafting an essay on the subject of World Population Day poses its own set of challenges. The
intricacies lie not just in presenting statistical data but in weaving a narrative that captures the
essence of the day, the urgency of the global population issue, and the significance of addressing
it. It demands a delicate balance between informative content and engaging storytelling.
The initial hurdle often involves navigating through an overwhelming amount of information.
Compiling accurate and up-to-date statistics on world population, exploring the historical context
of the observance, and understanding the various aspects related to population growth can be
daunting. Additionally, the essay must transcend mere numbers and delve into the socio-
economic, environmental, and ethical dimensions of the population challenge.
Moreover, striking the right tone is crucial. The essay should convey the gravity of the situation
without succumbing to a pessimistic or alarmist outlook. Finding the right blend of optimism and
pragmatism is essential to inspire action while avoiding overwhelming the reader.
Furthermore, the essay should be structured coherently, moving seamlessly from one point to
another. Transitioning between global perspectives and local impacts, and discussing potential
solutions while acknowledging the complexities involved, requires finesse in writing.
Addressing the World Population Day theme also involves a certain level of creativity to make
the essay stand out. It's not merely an exercise in relaying facts but an opportunity to engage the
reader emotionally, making them empathize with the challenges and potential solutions.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on World Population Day is no simple task. It demands extensive
research, thoughtful structuring, a nuanced tone, and a touch of creativity. However, the
importance of the topic and the potential impact of raising awareness about global population
issues make the effort worthwhile.
And for those who find themselves grappling with similar challenges or wish to explore different
essay topics, a solution lies at HelpWriting.net, where a range of essays and more can be

The New Ways Of Thinking Influenced The Renaissance
Humanism is derived from the movement that happened from the fourteenth to the
sixteenth centuries. The start point of Humanism is in Italy. It is an important
development during the Renaissance. Because of the terrible Black Death in 14th
century. The population of Europeans decreased extremely. A lot of people died of
the Black Death. At the beginning of that time, people thought the Black Death is
God s punishment for living life in sin. People went to Church and hope the
forgiveness of God. However, the wide spread of the Black Death didn t stop. The
dead body forced the people started finding the other new way. Instead of believing in
God, people started to think about science. The scientists did the research and treated
the Black Death by more scientific way. People started thinking about the man
himself and explored natural environment by more scientific method. The new ways
of thinking influenced the development of Humanism in art during the Renaissance.
The Renaissance artworks are about the re discovery of ancient Greek and Roman
artworks and their way of life. Humanists rejected the religion concept and not believe
in the supernaturalism. They tried to discover the natural creatures and destiny of
man. Artists learned the human beauty from the ancient Greek and Roman artworks
and architectures. They began to find out more ideas about the human experience,
personal independence and social community. They brought the Humanism ideas into
their artworks. Humanism
Dr. W. Edwards Deming Was Born October 14, 1900 In
Sioux
Dr. W. Edwards Deming was born October 14, 1900 in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew
up on a 300 acre farm near Des Moines, Iowa with his parents and brother. Until
1906, when the Deming Family relocated to Wyoming where they resumed
farming and growing crops. In part to the farming lifestyle the Deming s had, Dr.
Deming grew to be quite frugal and was opposed to of any kind of waste. His
demeanor was likely a result of the hard economic times in the early to mid 1900 s
as well. Three years after the Deming s took residence in Wyoming, their Daughter
was born. Dr. Deming was able to attend college by working various jobs to pay his
tuition. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University

to assist and improve their businesses and industries. He also earned a multitude of
prestigious awards and gained memberships to notable organizations. In 1982,
Deming published his book, Out of the Crisis , which offers a theory of management
based on his famous 14 Points for Management and shows how American companies
require nothing less than a transformation of management style and of governmental
relations with industry. In simple, direct language, he explained the principles of
management transformation and how to apply them. Deming lived until December
20, 1993. His legacy remains through his Deming Principles. Deming has fourteen
key principals. They can be applied to many different types of business. Deming has
designed the process to continually approve. The fourteen key principals are:
1.Creating consistency of purpose to continue to drive performance. 2.Western
management must adopt the new philosophy and take on the leadership for change.
3.Quality must be built in to the initial process. We must eliminate the need for
quality inspections by building quality into the initial structure. 4.Minimize total cost
by moving towards a single supplier for any one item, and concentrate on a long term

Examination Of The Bones And The Data Gathered
Introduction: Last week, a couple running in the park came across some bones.
They went to the police to report what they ve found. The bones were then sent in
to be observed and tested to identify who the bones belonged to. Based upon the
analysis of the bones and the data gathered, the conclusion is that the bones
belonged an Asian female over 30 years of age that was between the height of 4 8
and 5 3 .
Summary of Findings: sex: Through examination of the bones, the individual is
identified as a female. The main bones used to determine sex are the pelvis and the
skull. The pelvis is a crucial indicator of gender, but because the individual is small
in stature, the pelvis may not be as accurate. Nevertheless, main parts of the ... Show

These features indicate that the individual was or above the age of 30. However, the
exact age at this time cannot be determined based on the bones found due to the
dependence on developmental occurrences that take place conclude approximately at
the age of 30 in the human pelvic girdle. height : The height of the individual was
determined to be between 4 8 and 5 3 based on the measurements taken of the
humerus bone. The humerus bone had the most important information to investigate
the approximate height of the individual based on the bone s maximum length. It was
found that the maximum length of the humerus was 270 mm, or 27.0 cm. After
finding the maximum length of the humerus, the number was plugged into the
regression formula for the correct sex and ethnicity (in this case it was female and
Asian) to provide with the maximum and minimum heights. Normally, the femur is
predominantly used to find the height of an individual but there was no available
regression formula for a female of the Asian ethnicity.
Further Analysis: Facial reconstruction is a method of identifying human remains
through an artist modeling clay into an approximate reconstruction of the deceased
person s face. The facial features are based on the average soft tissue thickness over
various places on the skull and jaw. These vary a lot by
Nelson Mandela Imperialism
Nelson Mandela was conceived on July 18, 1918, in the small town of Mvezo in
South Africa. In the wake of going to class in his local nation, he also went to
College of London before coming back to South Africa and beginning a law firm.
Around this time, Mandela joined the African National Congress. Mandela was well
known and regarded everywhere throughout the world as an image of the battle
against politically sanctioned, racial segregation, and all types of prejudice. He truly
was the symbol and the saint of African freedom.
After his discharge from jail in 1990, Mandela recovered his authority part in the

Examples Of Social Darwinism In The Time Machine
Warped Society What if ...the race ...had developed into something inhuman,
unsympathetic, and overwhelming powerful? (33) In the novel, The Time
Machine, by H.G. Wells the theory of Social Darwinism is discussed. This theory
states that people, organizations, and species are governed by the laws of Natural
Selection. According to the theory, the weak (lower class) are diminished and their
cultures are degraded, while the strong (upper class) grow in power and their
cultural influence increases over the weak. In the novel, the Time traveler arrives in
the year 802,701 AD and encounters the Eloi, a childlike species. His time machine
is stolen by the sinister Morlocks and he attempts to take it back. Wells s believes

In fact, these buildings are all that remains of humanity. Humankind has degraded
into two species one that manufactures the necessary supplies for life and one that
takes without showing gratitude. The Eloi are children they must have everything
provided for them. The Morlocks are the caregivers who provide the supplies. The
Eloi, the upper class, live in an inverted society and their lives are governed by fear.
This fear is justified because the Morlocks, the lower class, will devour the Eloi;
...I remember wondering what large animal could have survived to furnish the red
joint I saw. (87) The only reason the Morlocks did not demolish the Eloi species is
because they are easily obtained meat. The Upper world citizens sleep together in
the hallways of the palace. Every new moon the Morlocks crept into these crowded
halls and kidnapped their food. This reinforced the fear the Eloi had: be afraid of
the dark. The Time Traveler destroyed the Eloi s fear by igniting the forest. The fire
destroyed most of the Morlocks so the monsters in the dark no longer
Colossians 3
Colossians 3 is saying that we have to become someone new in Christ. In Colossians
verse 1, it said that we should seek heavenly things not the things that are on the
Earth. Colossians, 3:1 said ВЁIf then you have been raised with Christ, seek the
things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Another thing
that I observed was in verse 10, we have to put on a new self, which is being renewed
in knowledge after the image of the creator. In Colossians 3:10, it said ВЁand have
put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its
creator. The third thing that I observed was we have to let God s word dwell in us
teaching and guiding us. In verse 16 of Colossians 3, it said ВЁ Let the word of Christ

In Colossians 3:22, it said Bondservants, obey in everything those who are you
earthly master, not by way of eye services, as people pleasers, but with sincerity of
heart, fearing the Lord. In Matthew 19:19, it said that we should love our neighbor
as ourself. I think this relates to one another because in both of the passages, it said
that we should love one another. In Colossians 3:22, it said Bondservants, obey in
everything those who are you earthly master, not by way of eye services, as people
pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. . The word Bondservant is
another word for slaves. In the Greek, the word bondservant in not used but the
word slave is. In Ephesians 6:5, it talks about how bondservant to obey your
master. Ephesians 6:5 said Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear,
and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. It relates because they
both talk about how slaves should obey their masters and it also talks about the
heart. The last word is heart. The definition for heart is inner life. In Matthew
13:19, it said that the evil one snatches the heart. They relate because they both talk
about the heart and how we have to be sincere to God and fear him. If we don t, the
evil one will snatch our hearts away and we will fall astray from
The Ethics Of Genetic Engineering
Genetic engineering has to do with manipulating organisms and DNA to create body
characteristics. The practice of genetic DNA has shown an increasing amount over
the past years. The process of genetic enhancement involves manipulating organisms
by using biotechnologies. The technique is by removing a DNAfrom one life form
and transferring it to another set of traits or organism. Certain barriers are
conquered, and the procedure involves changing a form of cells, resulting from an
improvement or developed organism. GMO which is a (Genetic Modified
Organisms) is the operation done in a laboratory where DNA genetic from one
particular species or animals is directly forced into another gene from an unrelated
subject of plants or even animals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the biggest pictures that are against genetic engineering is that humans are not
supposed to play the role of God. DNA is a unique thing to every person.
Bioengineering itself involves the very technical aspects of modification, and the
enhancement of stem cells or DNA and this process can change the human structure.
The progress of civilization has been having been largely dependent upon the out
interference with nature . (Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences).
Biotechnology interventions are used to advance human brains and our future to
the extreme. The process of genetic engineering is very unpredictable and dramatic
that it will have a major effect on its environment. Human genetic manipulation is
considered unethical and dangerous for the most part. Human genetic alteration is
illegal in many countries, but it is used in some places to cure gene diseases. The
process of changing the genetic DNA of when a baby is born can be passed down
the line of the persons. Swapping bad and unwanted genes for a better one is part of
the process. There are many potential advantages gained from this operation as well
as some dangers. Considering the ethical implications of the gene enhancement the
result might cause a gene problem. The advanced technology application can make a
huge different especially improving the quality of a human being by fixing an
unwanted and inheritable gene defects. Many people are affected

1.INTRODUCTION
Gynaecology is a special medical area which is more prominent in the developed
countries and they have gone further in marketing such services especially in the
private sector. However in most less developed countries like Zimbabwe
marketing of such services is almost rare, despite the growing importance of
gynaecological services. Firstly this is due to the fact that most medical
practitioners believe there is no marketing in the health service sector. According to
Etzel et al (1997), sellers in many industries such as health think of themselves only
as producers or creators not as marketers. Also some of these service firms believe
such marketing can only be done only by large companies operating in developed
countries.
This is however not really true according to the American Marketers Association
definition of marketing. It regards marketing as A process of planning and executing

How Does Jane Austen s View Of Marriage
The world of Jane Austen s, Pride and Prejudice is one in which women s rights
were limited due to society s patriarchal point of view. In Jane Austen s world,
women suffered on the account of their gender in a class pretension society making it
only possible to increase social mobility through the mean of marriage. Austen
depicts marriage as an economical business, needed to rescue women from
succumbing to a life of poverty and disgrace. In a society that affirm the principle
values of marriage as a social institution, Austen shows the many sides of marriage
and satirizes marriage that base love on appearances, wealth and class by showing
that it only leads to one own misery and unhappiness, whereas true leads to happiness
and joy. It is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the interactions leading to Mr. Collins proposal to Charlotte is not
present in the film, Charlotte confronts Elizabeth with the news of her engagement.
Charlotte insists that Mr. Collin is the best she could hope for. From this scene, it
becomes apparent that Charlotte have a textured idea of the future she is choosing.
In her eyes, the success of her marriage lies in the comfortable economy of their
household which becomes clear when Elizabeth visit Charlotte for the first time.
Charlotte has settled into married life and she encourages Mr. Collins to work in
the garden and leave her to the enjoyment of their home. As they drink tea in a
separate room, Charlotte mentions that they [Elizabeth and her] shall not be
disturbed for Mr. Collin allow her to have the room to herself. It becomes clear that
Charlotte married solely for the security of the home because she confines herself
inside while Mr. Collins stays out. They both finds contentment in their marriage only
when they are not in the present of one another. Austen reveals her sensibility for
Charlotte as a vestigial character left over from an era of practical marriage rather

Analysis Of The Book Grapes Of Wrath

Humanity s Wrathful Curtain
In his historical fiction, Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck characterizes the Joad
family as one of the many migrating farming families subjected to prejudice and
seclusion on their journey to California. Similarly, in T.C. Boyle s Tortilla Curtain,
CГЎndido and AmГ©rica are victims of animosity and discrimination after fleeing
their homes in Mexico to seek a better life in Los Angeles. In their stories, both Boyle
and Steinbeck exhibit how migration can often bring new people into a different
society, which can create fear and social stigma with that community. In their novels,
the authors use the description of animals in nature to symbolize migrants, whom like
animals, have difficulty assimilating into unknown territories, and could be treated as
inferior. John Steinbeck s Grapes of Wrath and T.C. Boyle s Tortilla Curtain both
illustrate barriers between mankind and nature as a vehicle to expose how humans
also create barriers between each other
In Tortilla Curtain, T.C. Boyle utilizes his description of the coyote in order to draw
its comparison to the Mexican immigrants. The coyote makes its first appearance in
the novel when Delaney and Kyra Mossbacher look into their backyard and realize
one has jumped over the fence and snatched their beloved dog, Sacheverell.
Distraught and infuriated, the Mossbachers decide to build a higher fence in their
backyard to keep the coyotes
The Development Of Heritage And Vacant Building Stock

vacant building stock. We will provide strategic packages for developers, architects,
planners and government agencies. We believe that the adaptive reuse of our heritage
and aging built landscape is fundamental to environmental, social and cultural
sustainability. Dorf advocates preservation through adaption, rather than blunt
conservation and isolation. We believe that more attention and consideration is due to
the respectful adaptive reuse of our Post War and modernist heritage, particularly in
Brisbane. In the future, we aim to evolve our practice to include roles as developers,

The Property Council of Australia has also indicated that Grade B commercial
property is experiencing an increased vacancy rating, the secondary market of
office property in Brisbane rising to 23% vacancy in 2016. In response to this, there
has been a push from the City and Property councils to adapt such buildings into
residential apartments, student accommodation, retirement living and hotels.
Brisbane s 41 George Street office tower is a key example of a piece of Brisbane s
Post War heritage with current potential for adaptive re use projects, with speculative
plans to transform the recently sold building s 1,021sqm floor plate into refurbished
offices, a hotel, residential apartments and student accommodation.
The combination of the increased demand for inner city housing against high vacancy
rates for office buildings is providing lucrative development opportunities for adaption
into residential apartments. The forecast for house price growth in 2016 was 17% in
Perth, 6% in Adelaide, 6% in Melbourne, 8% in Darwin, 19% in Sydney and 16%
in Brisbane. Developers are looking towards the adaptive reuse of C and D grade
office space across Australia capital cities into residential buildings. The economic
prospects for adaptive reuse as residential apartments across Australian capital cities
were verified by research conducted by JLL
Alexander the Great s Determination
After the death of King Darius III, Alexander began to introduce his Policy of
Fusion . He believed that if the two traditions (Macedonian and Persian) could be
blended and assimilated , his authority would be more securely established and
would rest on good will rather than on force, according to ancient historian Plutarch.
This tell us that Alexander did not want to destroy the Persia that Darius and his
ancestors had set up and replace it with a Macedonian ruling. Quoting Plutarch, He
understood that the sharing of race and customs is a great step towards the softening
of men s heart . Alexander knew that if he were to change Persia to a Macedonian
ruling, the Persians would not have obeyed nor trusted him. He instead opted to...

In the year 224 BC, a mass wedding was held in Susa. Alexander had arranged for
himself to marry Barsine, Darius s eldest daughter, and another one, Parysatis, the
daughter of Ochus. In addition, he gave his companions the daughters of the most
notable Medes and Persians [Arrian] summing up to 80 weddings in total, all of
which the weddings were celebrated in Persian fashion. The wedding established
Alexander as the Great King of both Macedonia and Persia as he could now claim
to be the son and heir of both previous Persian kings. It also signified the transfer of
power to the Macedonians through the marriage to leading Persian women. Much
like his successors, the children of these marriages were to be taught Greek and
trained in Macedonian customs and have the added advantage of mixed parentage.
According to J.R Hamilton, the Susa wedding brought to a climax his policy of
fusing Macadeonians and Persians into a single race . This is no doubt an example
of Alexander s strong determination of combining both traditions. However, upon
Alexander s death, all the men divorced their wives with the exception of
Hephaestion (who died eight months prior to Alexander) and Seleucus. This showed
how much Alexander s men disliked his
The Importance Of Liberal Education
The basis for liberal education was to improve society by improving the
intelligence of individuals (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 30). Equipping diverse students with
a common education and creating equal opportunity allowed students to gain the
skills needed to contribute to society. A liberal education granted students to make
their own decisions about their studies and careers (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 86). The
Committee of Ten believed all high school students should study history and
literature, science and mathematics, language and the arts (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 51).
These schools were Democratic because by teaching the deeper meaning behind
the courses, students could experience the experiences of the human race (Ravitch,
2000, pg. 35). The curriculum possessed heavy emphasis on reading and writing
because it instilled good habits, discipline, and self control (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 34).
Subjects helped prepare students for college and the workforce by improving the
child s critical thinking skills. Liberal humanists also held that the lower classes of
society are the intellectual equals of the upper class (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 80). In the
academic curriculum; race, gender, and class were trivial aspects in the child s
potential to become a scholar.
Progressive education, similar to liberal, hoped to make the schools an instrument of
social reform (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 57). However, progressive schools sought to reflect
the needs of society by creating a differentiated school
Summary Of The Poem Of America By William Whitman
It is in this sense that Whitman, always the egalitarian, who said of America and
its people that This is the city and I am one of its citizens (NAofAl, p.1347), posits
the totality of American society as being involved in the active composition of the
Poem of America. Indeed, in the Preface to Leaves of Grass, Whitman encourages
his readers to plunge [their] semitic muscle (NAofAL, p.1309) into America in an
act of national pro creation! All facets of society must involve themselves in seeking
out their truths and experiences to contribute to this poem, and so Whitman asserts
that You are also asking my questions...,/I answer that I cannot answer, you must
find out for yourself (NAofAL, p.1352). America is a new space for individuals and
groups alike to forge their own lives, free from the burdensome shackles of the Old
World. In presenting America as a fundamentally new space for the development of
what William Carlos Williams described as a rebel viewpoint, an American
viewpoint , it becomes clear that Whitman s song is one of projection. That is, in
accordance with Whitman s view of the poet as the true son of God and one who
incarnates [America s] geography and natural life and rivers and lakes (NAofAL,
p.1299), comes to order reality by way of his language: with every line that he writes,
the poet projects a worldof order, meaning, and identity into a space that was lacking
up until the moment of projection a particularly American Genesis. With every
Lightning Thief Themes
The first book of Percy Jackson and The Olympians series is called The Lightning
Thief. I chose this book due to its several themes that are unique. The Lightning
Thief has several different themes such as discovering identity, family, and
versions of reality. There are plenty of more themes in the book, but those are the
most important ones. The first theme in The Lightning Thief is discovering
identity. The main character, Percy, is left with barely any knowledge of his
father, and is sent from one boarding school to another. He is stuck believing that
he is unwanted, and that he is stupid because of his dyslexia. On a field trip, Percy
discovers that his math teacher isn t what she seems and is actually out to kill
him, and his Greek professor isn t at all a human. Percy then discovers that he is a
demigod and is actually the son of the Greek god Poseidon. After learning this,
Percy realizes that he is a hero who will save the world. Percy goes from an average
troubled teen to a hero within a numbered amount of days and he discovers his true
identity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he doesn t get to see her much he still loves her more than anything and
would do anything to keep her safe, like fighting the minotaur. He spends the
whole book trying to save his mother from the Greek god Hades. Percy also tries to
save his mother from his stepdad, Smelly Gabe , who hurts his mother. Although
Percy doesn t have a lot of real family, he meets a lot of friends who become like
family to him. Percy learns that his fatal flaw is caring too much, yet he still does
everything he can for his family. Family is a main theme in this book, because Percy
realizes how much it means to
Teen Activism
NTRODUCTION We live in a world that is in need of change. Many of us have
strong opinions about things, including teens. These teens speak out about what
they believe in, in order to make the world a better place. These people are called
teen activist. In this essay, you will learn about what teen activism, the examples
of Malala Yousafzai, Abby Reiman, and Zea Tongeman, and you will also learn
what I would do if I were a teen activist. So keep reading and enjoy! What is teen
activism? Now you re probably wondering, what is teen activism anyway? Well,
teen activism is when young people express themselves in order to make a change
for the better. For example, think of Malala Yousafzai. Since I will be writing
about her next, I won t go into full on detail mode. Anywho, she started a fund
called the Malala Fund to help kids, but especially girls to be able to have an
education. Now that you know what teen activism is, let s look at some teen
activist. Malala Yousafzai Malala Yousafzai is a pakistani schoolgirl. When she
was little, she didn t get to go to school, because in her country, girls weren t
allowed to go to school. But, she went anyway. Soon enough, she was targeted by
the Taliban. When she was 12 years old, she was on her way home from school,
when she was shot in the head. Luckily for her, the bullet didn t touch her brain.
After 5 hours of surgery, she was almost better. I say almost because she was

Marketing Strategies For The Sales Force
As a sales person I have been working for over 20 years in various industries from
telecommunication, security systems and now pest control. One of the hardest
objectives for the sales force is where the marketing targets, helping us achieve
visibility to the customers in our territories. Today s companies use various marketing
strategies, to grow and reach customers in the growing internet age. The role and
goals of salespeople have changed dramatically over the last few years. Why has it
changed? Companies have had to change over the years in order to continue to
reach their target market. In the past, a newspaper or yellow page ad was a simple
effective marketing tool. Today with the expansion of social media age, customers
have the option of clinking an ad or browsing past it. Yet companies use various
marketing tools to bring out brand awareness. One the oldest forms of marketing is
using celebrities or an attractive models to sell a product. Since marketing has
become a global campaign use of celebrities or models in certain regions could
produce a negative outcome and must be a consideration before add placement.
Companies use various marketing trends to fit the demographics of the product s
region.
My role as a salesperson and how I go about goal setting has changed dramatically
over the years. My first job was working at the Sears sporting goods department
making commission and salary. My goal there was not just to ring people up on the
register, but convince
Utilitarianism, By John Stuart Mill
Utilitarianism is a doctrine in normative ethics that is outlined and defended by many
philosophers, including the English philosopher John Stuart Mill as a standard to
determine what are right and wrong actions. At its most basic claim, the right course
of action one must take should be in the interest of maximizing what is known as
utility. The right course of action is determined as being right if it maximizes the total
benefit and happiness gained, while at the same time reducing the greatest amount of
pain for the greatest number of people. To put it simply, utilitarianismmerits the
greatest good for the greatest number. In Utilitarianism, John Stuart Milldetails his
explanation and support of the theory, and provides common criticisms of the theory
that he refutes throughout the piece. A couple of these critiques include claims that
the concept of utility is opposed to the concept of pleasure, and that it renders men
cold and unsympathizing (p. 20). With conviction, Mill is able to successfully
vindicate and define utilitarianism from critiques, although he could go beyond
defining by providing examples and illustrations of utilitarianism in the way that
critiques perceive it to be in order to demonstrate faults and holes that would arise.
The principle of utility is a concept that was primarily introduced academically by
philosopher Jeremy Benthamand later confounded upon to become what is known as
the Greatest Happiness Principle. Bentham focuses on the

men and women were equally affected by suicide and, about 80 per cent patients

century. What if the dinosaurs did not become extinct? What if they still exist?
(The Lost World takes off a couple years after the first book. A separate island is
discovered, an island where the dinosaurs were actually created. There are two
different research groups sent to the island. One to observe the dinosaurs in the wild
and the other to bring them back for research purposes. The fighting starts from there.

People have taken for granted the use of computers for many years now, and only
now will people realize that we can t depend upon new technology so much. This is
exactly what Michael Crichton means in The Lost World. The people who were
designing the dinosaurs didn t realize how powerful the dinosaurs really were, and
the dinosaurs took over the island. Now the dinosaurs had all of the power.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. (MacBeth, William Shakespeare, Act)
Shakespeare was absolutely right. Power does corrupt those who have it. It can t
be confirmed that the dictators that make it in to office are psychos beforehand,
but the power probably makes their greed a little worse. Bill Clinton and countless
other world leaders have abused their power. In The Lost World, a company called
InGen literally holds the power of life in its hands. In Gen recreated real dinosaurs,
which had previously been extinct for hundreds of millions of years. They had the
power, and then they abused it by trying to make some money. If they had just gone
about the research no one would have been hurt, and everything would have worked
out in the end, but the power consumed them. Hammond was a hustler, and his true
talent was raising money.... He built his park in an island called Isla Nublar,... but
the park system broke down, and the dinosaurs got free. (Lost World pg. 209)
Crichton seems to view mathematics in a certain way. His character Ian Malcolm

The Dark Side of a Growing Industry
186,627. That is the exact number of fast food restaurants that existed in the United
States in 2012, according to Numberof.net. The fast food industry has become the
face of America. On every intersection there is a McDonalds, Burger King, Jack in
the Box, Taco Bell, Chipotle, or Church s. As an American, one can go anywhere in
the country and find the same fast food that they re used to in nearly every state.
Many of these places have already figured out how to attract their customers and
leave them wanting more, which in turn has caused an increase in the market size of
these corporations. On the surface, many would argue the positives of the fast food
industry, but, if one looks closer, it is easy to see the negative side that the fast food
industry contains. The fast food industry is horrible for a person s health, provides
low paying jobs, and false advertises their products.
Many people have this idea that fast food isn t all that bad, for the food is
convenient and engineered to taste amazing. The craving for food isn t because it s
necessarily cheap, but because it s convenient for most people s fast paced busy
lives. For instance, when I personally go to Chipotle, my favorite fast food restaurant,
I always get the same meal: A carnitas burrito, white rice, pinto beans, sour cream,
salsa, and cheese. After doing research over the nutritional facts of my regular meal
here, I figured out that it contains 2,425 mg of sodium, 6
Who Is To Blame In A Christmas Carol
A Christmas carol is a traditional story told about an old man as the scrooge of
Christmas. The scrooges name in the story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
goes by the name Ebenezer. Ebenezer the old man is miserly all the time especially
around the season for the Christmas holiday. Anything that isn t money is of lesser
value to him. His money is top priority and the only thing he cares for. Ebenezer is
not bitter on this holiday for any old reason. The question is why is Ebenezer so
mad when it is the season to be jolly.
In the story A ChristmasCarol it all began in London on a foggy day. Ebenezer was
working conscientiously in his counting house. He had an old partner Jacob Marley
who died 7 years ago. He had a poor minuscule clerk named Bob Crachit. It was cold
on this day and scrooge being a scrooge was acting cheap and didn t want to buy no
more lumps of coal. Scrooge was invited to dinner by his nephew but he rushed his
nephew out the office. His clerk Mr. Crachit was asking scrooge for the day off and
of course scrooge gave him trouble but ended up letting him take the day off. So

home of Bob Crachit s house where he gets to see the family and how hard I is for
them to live a poor life. There Christmas feast was merely anything for them to feast
on with the little they had. The spirit informs scrooge that even though the family
celebrates with contempt one of those chairs will be open next year. He takes him to
many other houses in the community to see what Christmas is like to other families.
He also shows him two starving children ignorance and want. The ghost takes
scrooge back and yet again once more the clock strikes
Daphne And Diameter
Daphne was an old woman with soft brown hair. She wasn t too small or too tall.
Daphne was really graceful when she worked and was as sweet as could be. She
always was smiling and wore colorful clothes. Daphne had no husband, because she
liked doing her own thing. Everyday Daphne would walk to a field full of dead
flowers and plants. She loved flowers and plants, so she would water them while
humming. Daphne would pull all of the weeds out of the ground to protect the
plants. After she took care of them she would watch them and sing songs. At the end
of the day, Daphne would walk back home and return in the morning. Daphne was
so eager to save the field, and would do anything to get them growing beautiful
again. One day she got very ill and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All though, it will either save or kill you. Even though, she thought it would save
her , she didn t know it for a fact since she is mortal. Daphne said, I will take the risk
and drink the medicine. Diameter then gave Daphne the nectar from the gods.
Diameter left the house with delight and a smile on her face because Daphne didn
t die from the medicine. The next day, Daphne felt much better. She went to the
field and did her normal routine. Up at Mt. Olympus, Diameter felt good, but not
good enough. Diameter always watched Daphne and knows she always hums,
sings, wants to be fast, and be little, so she made a big decision. Diameter made the
decision of, when Daphne dies she turns into a unique bird called a humming bird.
Humming birds are fast, little, and drink nectar kind of like what Daphne wants to
do or what she already did. Diameter told all the gods and they thought it was a
good idea. Diameter had no clue about the plan, she just wanted to save the field,
which she did. Once Daphne died, Diameter went to her and told her why she got
rewarded. Daphne was so thankful, because now she gets to watch over the field
longer. Once Daphne got turned into a hummingbird, she watched over the field
everyday and sipped from the flowers. She also flew to Mt. Olympus everyday with

Sex Sexuality in the Poetry of Walt Whitman
I have not gain d acceptance of my own time, but have fallen back on fond dreams of
the future
(by Walt Whitman, qtd. in Miller, Sex and Sexuality)
SEX AND SEXUALITY IN THE POETRY OF WALT WHITMAN
Perhaps, in the following essay I put a quart into a pint pot, because I intend to
puzzle out, or rather, find and give a deeper insight into Walt Whitmans sexuality that
is still a question on agenda. There are readers and critics who state that it is a shame
to humble his poetry to this level, but I think that he was homosexual in his era the
topic cannot be left untouched, because therefore this factor was very influential on
his everyday life, thinking and hence on his poetry, too.
His only volume, Leaves of Grass В– that was ... Show more content on

So the concepts of men and women are not exclusive but inclusive ones.
As I pointed it before, in the first edition of Leaves of Grass the themes of sex and
sexuality appeared namely in the poems Song of Myself , The Sleepers , and I
Sing the Body Electric . In 1856, two more poems were added; Poem of
Procreation (now A Woman Waits for Me ) and Bunch Poem ( Spontaneous Me ). In
the 1860 edition, he collected those poems that are concerned with sexuality into the
cluster Enfans d Adam ( Children of Adam ) and those that celebrate adhesiveness
into Calamus . In particular the Calamus poems, written after a failed and very likely
homosexual relationship, contain passages that were interpreted to represent the born
of a gay man. The name of the poems alone would have sufficed to convey
homosexual connotations, since the calamus plant is associated with Kalamos, a god
in antique mythology, who was transformed with grief by the death of his lover, the
male youth Karpos. In addition, the calamus plant s central characteristic is a
prominent central vein that is phallic in appearance.
Now I intend to turn my attention to concrete examples from Walt Whitman s
poetry to provide some evidence of that sexuality played an important role in his
poetry, and there are possible readings to find traces for that. Of course, we cannot

Economic System In America
When in the course of economic virtue, the United States of America has woefully
relied on the mixed economic system of Capitalism, where men are not created
equal, but rather the prosperous become richer while the impoverished become
poorer. For more now than ever has our nation needed a balanced economic system
that does not neglect our povertystricken citizens. Our government should be here to
serve our citizen s welfare and not to neglect them.
For our beautiful nation s infrastructure has long since been crumbling, as many
countries keep improving on their roads, drinking water, and schools; the United
States still has a D+ in infrastructure as ranked by the American Society of Civil
Engineers.
As carbon dioxide and pollution slowly kills both the people and the environment, the
United States government begins to discard many of the regulations meant to protect
us, so companies can make a few bucks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Elizabethan Crime And Punishment Of The Elizabethan Era
Elizabethan Crime and Punishment On a normal day during the Elizabethan Era
you would pass the town square to find someone screaming bloody murder and
begging for mercy. There were public executions that many people took a day off
of their jobs to go see. Torture devices were a big part of Elizabethan Crime and
Punishment. There was a specific punishment for everything from begging to high
treason. If a peasant stole anything worth more than five pence, which was the
currency of the time period they were hanged, anyone who committed a capital
offense was quartered, and the queen s guards were not allowed to wear cloaks.

Military Leadership Requirements
Despite all the adversities that you ll face, the path of success is paved with gold.
If you re willing to do whatever it takes and really follow through on your dreams,
you will make it happen. Being in the military for over 12 years, I firmly believe
that there s some requirements of a leader and if you this requirements, you will
be able to do the things that you ve always wanted to do at the highest level and
dominate no matter what. The first tip is to have a strong health. No matter what
others say, you always have to promote your health. You always have it in control,
whether dieting or exercising you have to be intense top shape if you wat to be a
superior leader. In most cases, a reliable leader should be able to lift up a box, touch...

Sometimes your antics will be totally uncalled for and will cause unnecessary
drama. But you have to be able to keep going and believe in the plan that you
committed to. Sometimes criticism can feel like a dagger in the back and when
they twist it might hurt. But if you re willing to see through it and keep on going,
eventually they ll release the dagger and you ll be set on your way. The next tip is
to live with integrity. What you do when no one is looking really shows up when
someone is watching. So you have to be filled with integrity and believe that
everything is going to work out if you follow your true calling. But you have to be
able to overcome this temptation by thinking of your true core values and believing
in what you set out to do. Someone once said that the difference between honesty
and integrity is that honesty is telling other people the truth but integrity is telling
yourself the truth. Now that is something we all need to do. When you live s life of
integrity, people will admire you, do believe in you, and they ll even secretly be
your fans. Keep living in integrity if you want to be the highest version of

What is certain is that Will experienced numerous adverse childhood events. He
describes being beaten, stabbed, and having cigarettes put out on him among other
things. As a foster child, Will likely did not have a steady parental figure and likely
experienced neglect. These experiences manifested in his adult behavior as
characteristic borderline and avoidant behaviors. Will s avoidant behaviors
manifest frequently around Skylar. He is afraid to call her in the beginning, and
later on cannot bring himself to share his feelings with her out of fear of rejection.
He is also highly temperamental and experienced parental rejection, both
associated with avoidant personality disorder. Will appears to desire relationships
with others but is constantly afraid to let anyone close to him besides his small
group of friends. He also has no desire to work any job suited for his level of
intelligence, most likely out of fear that he will fail. Sean recognizes this behavior
in Will and calls him out for only reading about what love really is in books, and
never actually experiencing it himself. I believe Will spent most of time growing up
reading and learning everything he could about the world to avoid going out and
experiencing what it had to offer. The fear of rejection from authority

Essay on The Articles of Confederation
With the United States new found independence from Great Britain, its founding
fathers realize from their historical experiences that a document of law needed to be
crafted and established to preserve its new found independence, while maintaining
order. However, the first document crafted by the founding fathers, the Articles of
Confederation, did preserve the country new found independence but it did not
maintain order. The Articles of Confederation described by many founding fathers to

Furthermore, the constitution established a one true currency system and presented

The Cold War was a time of strife between the United States of America and the
Soviet Union after World War II. During the war, the two countries were allied against
Nazi Germany, however, after the war ended it left the two superpowers at odds on
many political and economic issues. During the 1950 s the anticommunist crusade, in
my opinion, was a direct threat to the freedom President Truman, in particular, spoke
about. President Truman vetoed and disagreed with many laws and practices that
went on during the time, such as McCarren Internal Security Act. I consider it to be a
time after the war when the government pushed patriotic propaganda while using that
as the launching pad to continue segregation, racism and pushing their own political

The Benefits and Challenges of Agile Methodology
Agile methodology is a software development lifecycle which designed to produce
faster development and high quality results compared with the traditional lifecycle.
The Agile method focuses on incremental and iterative development where
requirements, specifications, design, implementation, and testing continue
throughout the project lifecycle (Nanthaamornphong, Morris, Rouson Michelsen,
2013). Agile software developmentmethods enable software developer to be more
flexible and responsive to the changing environments and customer demands.
However, Agile adoption comes with special challenges and fundamental
organizational changes are necessary for successful outcome.
From our chosen case study, not all organizations are successfully adopting Agile
methods and techniques in software development. For example, there are around 250
employees in Information Technology, Telecommunication and System Development
division at the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). The government entity which had used
traditional waterfall approach for many years and decided to adopt Agile development
method SCRUM. Government entity had hired a Agile expert as their consultant, the

bank loan). There is a need of external financing for the expansion through
acquisition. External financing is a good source of raising money besides internal
funds. As per business finance, external financing can take the shape of two
different types of financing, debt or equity. Debt financing includes bank loans
where a company gets financed by issuing debentures which they have to pay back
after a certain period of time. It is called debt financing because the company is in
debt to the bond holders and if they were to go bankrupt, the bond holders would
have claim to any remaining assets. In this case these are secured business loans.
Equity financing is when a company decides to give up ownership in the company
to raise funds. This is usually done by selling company stock to investors.
Sometimes this could include seeking out angel investors or venture capitalists. If
you are expecting to get external financing through equity financing make sure that
your business has a product or service that is unique, and that there is a high
demand for your product or service. Most venture capital investors or even angel
investors will not look at an offer unless they see a large growth potential. (2)

Analysis Of George Orwell s 1984
Those familiar with George Orwell s 1984 will recall that Newspeak was designed
not to extend but to diminish the range of thought. I recently felt the weight of this
Orwellian ethos when many of my students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps
warn me, that my name appears on the Professor Watchlist, a new website created
by a conservative youth group known as Turning Point USA. I could sense the
gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to come. The
Professor Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about
those of us within academia who advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It
names and includes photographs of some 200 professors. The Watchlist appears to
be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again and to expose
and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti
Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is
especially threatening, as it signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic
racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is not a privilege, not a desire, but a
nightmare. The new watchlist is essentially a new species of McCarthyism,
especially in terms of its overtones of disloyalty to the American republic. And it is
reminiscent of Cointelpro, the secret F.B.I. program that spied on, infiltrated and
discredited American political organizations in the 50s and 60s. Its goal of outing
professors for their views helps to
India s Independence And Present Day India
WH Research Paper Rough Draft Gandhi Truthfully, one becomes speechless and
unsure of where to begin when conversing about Bapu. What can be said for a
mentor, leader, politician, and human being like Mahatma Gandhi? Words are
vulnerable to describe such a god like figure. His life is his message from which
people around the world have inspired their own lives from. He was from a middle
class family, an average student in school, shy, nervous, could not muster courage
to speak in public, nor was a good writer. Despite these facts, Gandhi went on to
become the Father of the Nation . When hearing such things, certain questions
would cross the mind such as how did he do all of this? What made people follow
him to such an extent that they would stake their own lives for him? Why did people
follow him? Such questions intrigues and puts oneself in wonderment of how India s
independence and present day India s modern nationalism came to existence.
Nevertheless, the dedication, non violence, and the faith of Satyagra enforced by
Gandhi led to the independence of India, hence creating a modern nationalism for
present day India. This outcome came due to two major reasons, patriotism and
satyagra. Without the relevance and balance of both of these reasons, India would
have never gained the freedom and nationalism it has today.
The sole morality of Satyagraha became the path to gaining independence from the
British. Satyagra was the greatest weapon that Gandhi used to defeat the

Business people are like sharks, not just because we are gray and slightly oily, or

Hopefully, bank loan is not the only source of funding available; friends and family
savings may help a business project too. Alternative finance methods are the peer to
peer lending and the invoice financing, the equity finance and the government
grants. However, any prospected businessman has to be really careful to choose
the most appropriate funding body for its business since any source of funding
you may choose has different advantages and disadvantages. It seems that when
people lack any other source of financing, they ask their family or their close
friends to contribute in order to develop their business plans. According to Curran
and Blackburn (1993), family loans account for some 15 percent of start up
finance, amongst ethic owned businesses in the UK, making it the largest source
of funds after the bank loans (Basu et al., 2013: 333). One good reason to finance
your business project in cooperation with your family or friends is the increased
feeling of liability. This will definitely help you to develop your own skills,
responsibilities and a long standing character. On the other hand, family finance can
be a really dangerous option if momentous clashes suddenly appear between family
members. The family bank and family relationships will eventually be damaged or
destroyed (Babcock, 2013).
Another popular financial method is the peer to peer lending. A type of lending

Legislative Branches Of The United States Essay
In the United States, we have a Constitution that divides our federal government
into three branches that carry out different jobs and consist of important leaders to
help with laws and other aspects of the country. There is the Legislative Branch,
Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Although the three branches are all
very different in what they can do and perform, they are all still equal. We equalize
these branches by a system we call Our System of Checks and Balances.
Legislative Branch is where the laws are made, and it consists of the Senate and
House of Representatives. The Executive Branch is where the laws are carried out.
This branch includes the President, Vice President and the Cabinet. The Judicial
Branch interprets and applies laws, and this branch consists of the Supreme Court
and all the other courts. The Legislative Branch checks over the Executive Branch
by overriding presidential vetoes and also by impeaching and convicting
presidents in the Executive branch. The Legislative Branch checks over the
Judicial Branch of our government by impeaching federal judges and Supreme
Court justices. The Legislative branch also has the ability of confirming or
refusing judges or justices for elections for the Judicial Branch. There are many
roles in each branch of our government. The Speaker of the House is both the
presiding officer of the House of Representatives and the leader of the majority
party. The speaker is also second in charge to the vice

Impulsiveness In Frankenstein
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley uncovers the dangers of knowledge through the
creation of the monster and the downfall of Victor Frankenstein. Shelley portrays
Frankenstein in a way that can be utilized to explain his decline. In Frankenstein,
Victor s impulsive, selfish, and vengeful character is revealed when compared to the
creators in The Myth of Prometheus and the King James Version of Genesis. For
example, Frankensteins impulsiveness is highlighted when compared to the well
thought out actions of Prometheus. Frankenstein s impromptu plan to create the
monster was driven by his curiosity and lacked any consideration of the
consequences. After working on his creation for nearly two years and eventually
bringing his creation to life, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in the Myth of Prometheus, Prometheus took over the task of creation after
his brother failed to leave any dominating qualities for humans and considered ways
to make humans superior (Myth). Prometheus clearly thought out his actions to
ensure humans would be considered superior to all other creatures on Earth,
accentuating Frankenstein s impulsiveness and neglect to consider the consequences
of creating the monster. In addition, comparison to Prometheus actions can also be
utilized to emphasize Frankenstein s selfish character. Zeus took fire away from
humans as a punishment to Prometheus, forcing them to eat their food raw and
eventually leading to their decline. Prometheus decided to take action and [took] such
a personal risk for Man, trying to return fire to humans (Prometheus). Comparatively,
Frankenstein had never risked himself to benefit his creation. In fact, he abandoned
his creation to avoid having to make sacrifices for the monster. After a restless night
and confrontation with the monster, Victor escaped from his apartment, walking fast

Intimacy In Walt Whitman s Vigil Strange
Whitman tackles the troubling depersonalisation of the Civil War by emphasising
the anonymity of the dead and striving to consciously individualise them in his
poetry. He notes in Specimen Days that in one war cemetery only eighty five of the
graves were identified; the staggering unknown of the war effort is a theme that
haunts Drum Taps and his retaliations can be seen most clearly in Vigil Strange and
its revisions. In draft form, the dead soldier was referred to in the third person but by
the time the poem was published Whitman had altered the perspective to describe the
comrade in the second person:
Found you in death so cold dear comrade, found your body son of responding kisses

Whitman affords the soldier a name Pete a family that are emotionally connected to
his one particular story rather than the sprawling narrative of the Civil Waras a whole,
peopled with indistinct soldiers in mass. Yet, Pete is absent from the poem, and
even the news written about him is in another person s hand, implying that the
history (and even the poetry) of the Civil War will not take into account the
individual perspective of the soldiers, but will instead be penned by observers that
cannot properly translate the experiences of the war into literature. This warps
Whitman s poetry into a continuing battle between two extremes he cannot
comfortably find a middle ground in his desire to represent the Civil War and the
experiences of the soldiers as faithfully as possible juxtaposed with his enduring
status as outsider, much like the dual perspectives of the poem, with both the
narrative of the family and the persona of the observer, intruding on their privacy

Saving Faces Summary
I remember watching the documentary Saving Faces when I was younger, and
being absolutely heartbroken over the stories these survivors had to tell. The
documentary revolves around women from Pakistan who had been attacked with
sulfuric acid, completely disfiguring them. The motives behind these attacks
varied, one of them being from a man who had his proposal rejected, so he felt it
was necessary to retaliate. These are only a few of many women that have had to
endure gruesome actions committed against them by men. In many cases, women
are victims because they feel powerless. Fortunately this is not the case for all
women. I ve decided to tell the stories of women who have had the courage to take
a stand against the oppressive men in society. All of these stories regardless if they
are fictional or real life events, should all serve as an inspiration to those who feel
oppressed. A real life event that I will discuss are the victims of Bill Cosby and the
legal actions taken against him. The other four stories are fictional, 3 of them being...

The Netherlands Revolt
My paper will discuss several factors that led to the success of the Revolt of the
Netherlands which include; hatred of the Spain monarchy in the Netherlands,
failure of King Philip II as a ruler, the union of the provinces within the
Netherlands, the support of foreign allies and Spanish enemies, and Spain s lack of
funds. This revolt was composed of people from all social classes and all of these
men were all driven and motivated by a deep hate of Spain. After Charles V, Philip II
became the king of the Spanish Netherlands. Unlike Charles V, Philip II was not part
of the Habsburg Empire, known as the Netherlands. The people of Netherland
considered him a foreigner and he was often portrayed as being extremely arrogant

Philip II believed in complete sovereign power on his quest to create centralization
in the region, so he chose to exclude the involvement of the high nobility from any
polices that the king made or would make in the future (Zagorin, Pg.91). They

when various please were made to him change his policies, he refused to accept the

With his insistence on denying the Dutch their religious freedom and then denying
the nobility the right to have a say in policy matters, he set in motion the start of the
revolution. The Netherlands was a region that had various different provinces; they
were not a united front, politically speaking. But one thing that they did have in
common was that they looked upon the noblemen for guidance. The noblemen were
seen as leaders, sometimes even acting as provincial governors, and they usually
provided politically guidance to those in need, apart from dealing with any issues that

Wikipedia Vs Harvapedia Essay
When one searches to find reliable information on the Internet, they must keep in
mind; there are very few sources published on the web that can be trusted without
looking into the background of that source itself. One of the most famous examples
of this idea is the digital encyclopedia Wikipedia. Every student has been warned to
be careful of what they read on this websiteand take as true because of the fact that
everyone is able to make edits on the articles. Comparatively, a newer digital
encyclopedia called Conservapedia claims to be the trustworthy version of Wikipedia.
Even though there are specific deference s between the encyclopedias, they still
share many of the same qualities. Looking at the web articles superficially, the
encyclopedias are almost identical. From the format of the page, layout of the page,

However, the reasons as to why there is a debate are different for the articles.
Wikipedia, also known as the free encyclopedia, did provide more information about
the polar bear and also provided an extensive list of references. Although that may
seem to provide enough evidence to prove the article is trustworthy, what is taken for
granted is the amount of editors of the article. According to the information of the
article, there are at least over two thousand distinct authors. It is concerning when
considering the article a source because of the amount of authors of the article.
Looking more closely to the sources of the article are also
Mary Bloodsworth Short Story
Long ago, a young woman known as Mary Bloodsworth lived in a tiny cottage in a
forest in Massachusetts. Mary sold healing herbs and other remedies to people who
came from far and wide to see her. People say she was beautiful and that she
enchanted many men. As time passed, some grew jealous of the attention she
received, and villagers began to tease her behind her back, calling her a witch.
People whispered that Mary would never marry or bear children.
One year, village girls began to disappear. When the first girlvanished, people said
she had run away. But as time passed, more and more girls disappeared. Their

It seemed Mary had cast a spell on the girl.
The villagers raised their weapons shovels, pitchforks and rifles. But upon hearing
the people coming, Mary broke off her spell and raced into the woods. The villagers
chased after her, and when they reached her cottage, they captured her. As she
thrashed about, fighting off the villagers, Mary broke a mirror, cutting her hand.
Mary screamed and cursed all the women and girls of the village. The people called it
the curse of Bloody Mary.
Mary was put on trial, and at the trial the miller s daughter described the sound she
had heard as a melodic whistle, like the wind blowing through leaves and carrying a
tune.
People in the packed courtroom noticed Mary was pregnant, but she would not reveal
who the father of her child was. When the judge insisted that she tell everyone, she
said, There is no father.
On the stand, the local minister declared that the baby must be the child of Satan.

There are kinds of materials, always floating around in the space. When astronauts
are doing the space traveling, it is the worst thing to come across with these
materials. Some people may be not familiar with these materials; however, the one I

Space debris is made up with both natural particles and artificial particles, which are

  • 4. Examination Of The Bones And The Data Gathered Introduction: Last week, a couple running in the park came across some bones. They went to the police to report what they ve found. The bones were then sent in to be observed and tested to identify who the bones belonged to. Based upon the analysis of the bones and the data gathered, the conclusion is that the bones belonged an Asian female over 30 years of age that was between the height of 4 8 and 5 3 . Summary of Findings: sex: Through examination of the bones, the individual is identified as a female. The main bones used to determine sex are the pelvis and the skull. Every new moon the Morlocks crept into these crowded halls and kidnapped their food. This reinforced the fear the Eloi had: be afraid of the dark. The Time Traveler destroyed the Eloi s fear by igniting the forest. The fire destroyed most of the Morlocks so the monsters in the dark no longer

Colossians, 3:1 said ВЁIf then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Another thing that I observed was in verse 10, we have to put on a new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of the creator. In Colossians 3:10, it said ВЁand have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. The progress of civilization has been having been largely dependent upon the out interference with nature . (Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences). Human genetic manipulation is considered unethical and dangerous for the most part. Human genetic alteration is illegal in many countries, but it is used in some places to cure gene diseases. The process of changing the genetic DNA of when a baby is born can be passed down the line of the persons. Swapping bad and unwanted genes for a better one is part of the process. However in most less developed countries like Zimbabwe marketing of such services is almost rare, despite the growing importance of gynaecological services. Firstly this is due to the fact that most medical practitioners believe there is no marketing in the health service sector. According to Etzel et al (1997), sellers in many industries such as health think of themselves only as producers or creators not as marketers. Also some of these service firms believe such marketing can only be done only by large companies operating in developed countries. • 11. Analysis Of The Book Grapes Of Wrath Tyler Jordan Ms. Mittleman Honors American Lit. September 14, 2014 Humanity s Wrathful Curtain In his historical fiction, Grapes of Wrath, John Steinbeck characterizes the Joad family as one of the many migrating farming families subjected to prejudice and seclusion on their journey to California. Similarly, in T.C. Boyle s Tortilla Curtain, CГЎndido and AmГ©rica are victims of animosity and discrimination after fleeing their homes in Mexico to seek a better life in Los Angeles. In their stories, both Boyle and Steinbeck exhibit how migration can often bring new people into a different society, which can create fear and social stigma with that community. In their novels, the authors use the description of animals in nature to symbolize migrants, whom like animals, have difficulty assimilating into unknown territories, and could be treated as inferior. John Steinbeck s Grapes of Wrath and T.C. The Property Council of Australia has also indicated that Grade B commercial property is experiencing an increased vacancy rating, the secondary market of office property in Brisbane rising to 23% vacancy in 2016. In response to this, there has been a push from the City and Property councils to adapt such buildings into residential apartments, student accommodation, retirement living and hotels. Brisbane s 41 George Street office tower is a key example of a piece of Brisbane s Post War heritage with current potential for adaptive re use projects, with speculative plans to transform the recently sold building s 1,021sqm floor plate into refurbished offices, a hotel, residential apartments and student accommodation. The combination of the increased demand for inner city housing against high vacancy rates for office buildings is providing lucrative development opportunities for adaption into residential apartments. He believed that if the two traditions (Macedonian and Persian) could be blended and assimilated , his authority would be more securely established and would rest on good will rather than on force, according to ancient historian Plutarch. This tell us that Alexander did not want to destroy the Persia that Darius and his ancestors had set up and replace it with a Macedonian ruling. In the year 224 BC, a mass wedding was held in Susa. Alexander had arranged for himself to marry Barsine, Darius s eldest daughter, and another one, Parysatis, the daughter of Ochus. In addition, he gave his companions the daughters of the most notable Medes and Persians [Arrian] summing up to 80 weddings in total, all of which the weddings were celebrated in Persian fashion. The wedding established Alexander as the Great King of both Macedonia and Persia as he could now claim to be the son and heir of both previous Persian kings. It also signified the transfer of power to the Macedonians through the marriage to leading Persian women. Much like his successors, the children of these marriages were to be taught Greek and trained in Macedonian customs and have the added advantage of mixed parentage. According to J.R Hamilton, the Susa wedding brought to a climax his policy of fusing Macadeonians and Persians into a single race . This is no doubt an example of Alexander s strong determination of combining both traditions. However, upon Alexander s death, all the men divorced their wives with the exception of Hephaestion (who died eight months prior to Alexander) and Seleucus. This showed how much Alexander s men disliked his
  • 14. The Importance Of Liberal Education The basis for liberal education was to improve society by improving the intelligence of individuals (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 30). Equipping diverse students with a common education and creating equal opportunity allowed students to gain the skills needed to contribute to society. A liberal education granted students to make their own decisions about their studies and careers (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 86). The Committee of Ten believed all high school students should study history and literature, science and mathematics, language and the arts (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 51). These schools were Democratic because by teaching the deeper meaning behind the courses, students could experience the experiences of the human race (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 35). The curriculum possessed heavy emphasis on reading and writing because it instilled good habits, discipline, and self control (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 34). Subjects helped prepare students for college and the workforce by improving the child s critical thinking skills. Liberal humanists also held that the lower classes of society are the intellectual equals of the upper class (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 80). In the academic curriculum; race, gender, and class were trivial aspects in the child s potential to become a scholar. Progressive education, similar to liberal, hoped to make the schools an instrument of social reform (Ravitch, 2000, pg. 57). However, progressive schools sought to reflect the needs of society by creating a differentiated school
  • 15. Summary Of The Poem Of America By William Whitman It is in this sense that Whitman, always the egalitarian, who said of America and its people that This is the city and I am one of its citizens (NAofAl, p.1347), posits the totality of American society as being involved in the active composition of the Poem of America. Indeed, in the Preface to Leaves of Grass, Whitman encourages his readers to plunge [their] semitic muscle (NAofAL, p.1309) into America in an act of national pro creation! All facets of society must involve themselves in seeking out their truths and experiences to contribute to this poem, and so Whitman asserts that You are also asking my questions...,/I answer that I cannot answer, you must find out for yourself (NAofAL, p.1352). America is a new space for individuals and groups alike to forge their own lives, free from the burdensome shackles of the Old World. In presenting America as a fundamentally new space for the development of what William Carlos Williams described as a rebel viewpoint, an American viewpoint , it becomes clear that Whitman s song is one of projection. That is, in accordance with Whitman s view of the poet as the true son of God and one who incarnates [America s] geography and natural life and rivers and lakes (NAofAL, p.1299), comes to order reality by way of his language: with every line that he writes, the poet projects a worldof order, meaning, and identity into a space that was lacking up until the moment of projection a particularly American Genesis. The Lightning Thief has several different themes such as discovering identity, family, and versions of reality. There are plenty of more themes in the book, but those are the most important ones. The first theme in The Lightning Thief is discovering identity. The main character, Percy, is left with barely any knowledge of his father, and is sent from one boarding school to another. • 19. Utilitarianism, By John Stuart Mill Utilitarianism is a doctrine in normative ethics that is outlined and defended by many philosophers, including the English philosopher John Stuart Mill as a standard to determine what are right and wrong actions. At its most basic claim, the right course of action one must take should be in the interest of maximizing what is known as utility. The right course of action is determined as being right if it maximizes the total benefit and happiness gained, while at the same time reducing the greatest amount of pain for the greatest number of people. To put it simply, utilitarianismmerits the greatest good for the greatest number. In Utilitarianism, John Stuart Milldetails his explanation and support of the theory, and provides common criticisms of the theory that he refutes throughout the piece. A couple of these critiques include claims that the concept of utility is opposed to the concept of pleasure, and that it renders men cold and unsympathizing (p. 20). With conviction, Mill is able to successfully vindicate and define utilitarianism from critiques, although he could go beyond defining by providing examples and illustrations of utilitarianism in the way that critiques perceive it to be in order to demonstrate faults and holes that would arise. The principle of utility is a concept that was primarily introduced academically by philosopher Jeremy Benthamand later confounded upon to become what is known as the Greatest Happiness Principle. As I pointed it before, in the first edition of Leaves of Grass the themes of sex and sexuality appeared namely in the poems Song of Myself , The Sleepers , and I Sing the Body Electric . In 1856, two more poems were added; Poem of Procreation (now A Woman Waits for Me ) and Bunch Poem ( Spontaneous Me ). In the 1860 edition, he collected those poems that are concerned with sexuality into the cluster Enfans d Adam ( Children of Adam ) and those that celebrate adhesiveness into Calamus . In particular the Calamus poems, written after a failed and very likely homosexual relationship, contain passages that were interpreted to represent the born of a gay man. The name of the poems alone would have sufficed to convey homosexual connotations, since the calamus plant is associated with Kalamos, a god in antique mythology, who was transformed with grief by the death of his lover, the male youth Karpos. In addition, the calamus plant s central characteristic is a prominent central vein that is phallic in appearance. Now I intend to turn my attention to concrete examples from Walt Whitman s poetry to provide some evidence of that sexuality played an important role in his poetry, and there are possible readings to find traces for that. He is afraid to call her in the beginning, and later on cannot bring himself to share his feelings with her out of fear of rejection. He is also highly temperamental and experienced parental rejection, both associated with avoidant personality disorder. Will appears to desire relationships with others but is constantly afraid to let anyone close to him besides his small group of friends. He also has no desire to work any job suited for his level of intelligence, most likely out of fear that he will fail. Sean recognizes this behavior in Will and calls him out for only reading about what love really is in books, and never actually experiencing it himself. There is a need of external financing for the expansion through acquisition. External financing is a good source of raising money besides internal funds. As per business finance, external financing can take the shape of two different types of financing, debt or equity. Debt financing includes bank loans where a company gets financed by issuing debentures which they have to pay back after a certain period of time. It is called debt financing because the company is in debt to the bond holders and if they were to go bankrupt, the bond holders would have claim to any remaining assets. In this case these are secured business loans. Equity financing is when a company decides to give up ownership in the company to raise funds. This is usually done by selling company stock to investors. Sometimes this could include seeking out angel investors or venture capitalists. If you are expecting to get external financing through equity financing make sure that your business has a product or service that is unique, and that there is a high demand for your product or service. I recently felt the weight of this Orwellian ethos when many of my students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps warn me, that my name appears on the Professor Watchlist, a new website created by a conservative youth group known as Turning Point USA. I could sense the gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to come. The Professor Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those of us within academia who advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It names and includes photographs of some 200 professors. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is especially threatening, as it signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare. The new watchlist is essentially a new species of McCarthyism, especially in terms of its overtones of disloyalty to the American republic. And it is reminiscent of Cointelpro, the secret F.B.I. program that spied on, infiltrated and discredited American political organizations in the 50s and 60s. What can be said for a mentor, leader, politician, and human being like Mahatma Gandhi? Words are vulnerable to describe such a god like figure. His life is his message from which people around the world have inspired their own lives from. He was from a middle class family, an average student in school, shy, nervous, could not muster courage to speak in public, nor was a good writer. Despite these facts, Gandhi went on to become the Father of the Nation . When hearing such things, certain questions would cross the mind such as how did he do all of this? What made people follow him to such an extent that they would stake their own lives for him? Why did people follow him? Such questions intrigues and puts oneself in wonderment of how India s independence and present day India s modern nationalism came to existence. Nevertheless, the dedication, non violence, and the faith of Satyagra enforced by Gandhi led to the independence of India, hence creating a modern nationalism for present day India. This outcome came due to two major reasons, patriotism and satyagra. Without the relevance and balance of both of these reasons, India would have never gained the freedom and nationalism it has today. The sole morality of Satyagraha became the path to gaining independence from the British. Satyagra was the greatest weapon that Gandhi used to defeat the

It seems that when people lack any other source of financing, they ask their family or their close friends to contribute in order to develop their business plans. According to Curran and Blackburn (1993), family loans account for some 15 percent of start up finance, amongst ethic owned businesses in the UK, making it the largest source of funds after the bank loans (Basu et al., 2013: 333). Legislative Branches Of The United States Essay In the United States, we have a Constitution that divides our federal government into three branches that carry out different jobs and consist of important leaders to help with laws and other aspects of the country. There is the Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch. Although the three branches are all very different in what they can do and perform, they are all still equal. We equalize these branches by a system we call Our System of Checks and Balances. Legislative Branch is where the laws are made, and it consists of the Senate and House of Representatives. The Executive Branch is where the laws are carried out. This branch includes the President, Vice President and the Cabinet. The Judicial Branch interprets and applies laws, and this branch consists of the Supreme Court and all the other courts. The Legislative Branch checks over the Executive Branch by overriding presidential vetoes and also by impeaching and convicting presidents in the Executive branch. The Legislative Branch checks over the Judicial Branch of our government by impeaching federal judges and Supreme Court justices. The Legislative branch also has the ability of confirming or refusing judges or justices for elections for the Judicial Branch. There are many roles in each branch of our government. The accused him of violating the liberties of the province that he ruled and even when various please were made to him change his policies, he refused to accept the advice and consent of the nobility or estates. With his insistence on denying the Dutch their religious freedom and then denying the nobility the right to have a say in policy matters, he set in motion the start of the revolution. The Netherlands was a region that had various different provinces; they were not a united front, politically speaking.
