This is my media analysis of two covers from the same Magazine Publication. As well as both having similarities and differences explained below.

1. Both rolling stones cover are similar because they show powerful artists and
they are above the masthead showing that the subjects sell the magazine rather
than the label. Both magazines have; bold titles, cover lines and features. All
writing is in black with feature of lines underneath to beak up all the articles;
both Miley and jay z very influential to their particular pop music bringing
different things to their particular industries. They both use medium shots for
their subjects and have the subjects looking at the camera.
Miley’s cover she has no clothes on. This shows how women are violated in the
media as sexual object; “sex sells”. Her position is very sexual and the position
covers her boobs but its obvious she’s naked. AS well as her tongue suggest
something sexual. Her makeup is smudged and grungy suggesting that this
covers dirty and suggests she’s not innocent. As well as the cover line is “Good
golly Miley’s” suggesting shock and suggests that she has changed. Whereas jay z
is “suited and booted” in a suit suggesting power and he’s in charge; he’s working
class. AS well as his over lines are in grey and black which is different to the
traditional cover for rolling stones. As well as Jay Z cover he has a lot of red
writing and different types of font where miley’s is the same. The background on
both covers is different with white for jay Z and blue for Miley. Majority of covers
the men are facing the front head on and he girls are positioned t the side. This
connotes a more provocative appearance and more sexual.
