2. NME White is usually used to represent innocence and purity and this could be ironic for a rebellious band. The font and black marks going over the name of the band could show that they are rebellious or a band that doesn’t follow the rules. The lead singer of the band is show in the centre of the cover looking down on the reader this could show how much power she has and how important she is. She is holding down her sunglasses that appear to have diamonds that are shining on them and she is holding jewelry, this along with her immaculate make up shows her living the glamorous life style. Slang is used to suite the target audience and the writing is slanted which is giving the magazine an image of been out of control. The name “Noel” in capital letters and in a contrasting colour to its background stand out and along with Noel Galagers face, automatically attracting fans of his band. The main colours used are red, black and white and these colours all stand out along each other so that the magazine is eye catching, it also doesn’t suggest that the magazine is for one gender. All the text and images frame the main image of the band but the image of the band over laps the information at the side. This could be to show that the band is the main big story. The image of the killers star shows him showing his teeth which links to the sub heading of “the killers sink their teeth in”. The lead singers tattoo is showing which could show she has something unique and different from most people.
3. Rolling Stone The main color silver has been used throughout the cover to appear classy, it could also show that this edition is special as previous covers have a color scheme of red and black. Jay-Z is the main image and is looking directly at the reader to involve them and grab their attention. A large ring is on show and this goes well with the silver scarf Jay-Z is wearing showing he is classy and wealthy. Jay-Z’s body language is very dramatic and serious. He looks like a powerful authoritative figure that ‘means business’. The articles going down the side of the page are written in bold capital letters so they stand out and grab the readers attention. The background is a plain white which makes the writing and image stand out. Because the background is white there is a great amount of freedom on the colours that could be used, however the magazine sticks to only three colours too look sophisticated and attract the right target audience. Over the left hand side of jay Z’s face there is shadow which adds an element of mystery. The article doesn’t really give a lot of information, leaving the reader wanting to know more and read on. It also follows the color scheme and font style. This medium shot means all of our focus is on Jay-Z as he is one of the main articles, he is a very famous and the magazine puts him as the most important thing by his image overlapping the mast head.
4. Q There is a pug going over the masthead of the magazine informing the reader of a ‘bumper issue’. Therefore giving more information and possibly more value for money. The masthead is simply the letter ‘Q’ which is catchy and easy to remember. It is not only a title, it is a logo for the company and the bright vibrant colours are easily recognisable. All of the information frames the image of Madonna, she looks flawless and glamorous, uncovering her face suggesting that she is willing to open up for the magazine. In a upper case bold red font we have famous well known bands and artists such as the Rolling Stones, this is then followed by smaller text that is plain and white and describes what they are doing such as, ‘in a pub’ and this is something normal that the target audience would do. The patriotic background for one of the features stands out well from the background and will automatically attract the target audience. ‘ Madonna’ is written in large capital letters going over the whole width of the page. Its in a vibrant red colour which matched the logo/masthead, its eye catching and shouts out to the reader, almost like an announcement . Madonna is looking right at the viewer which involves them. Listing all of the famous people that are involved in the issues in a colour that contrasts from the background. It shows one page snippet from what is featured in the magazine encouraging the reader to purchase and read more. The quote shows that Madonna has attitude and the quote leavers the reader wanting to know what the question is.
