2. Language:
• I used informal language in my magazine it’s the most
ideal approach to grab the attention of my audience. If I
talk in a chatting language the audience can relate to it.
As my feature article is about her life, its personal and
can help people relate to her music, and seek help in her
story. Her answers are short and its presented in a
question and answer format. The feature article is
relevant to 2017 as it is about the summer and festivals,
my artist is young and her audience is also young all
being able to relate to it. Its common through the music
magazines to focus on a genre: dance, relates to summer
or nights out, where you can chill listen to music and
dance.
3. Font:
• My font is many different ones to get the
attention of my reader. Like: from 101 fonts,
its big and bold for the mastheads, or
important features, to stand out. The text I
used was : Calibri headings, Peppermint were
my main ones. My magazine font is different
on each cover for different purposes. My fonts
are small when writing about the feature and
cover line. The font is bigger with titles and
masthead.
4. Contents:
• My content is about dance magazines. It features
different festivals and style of music, as well as
the artist advertising her clothing brand. Reflects
the results of my survey where people chose the
name of my magazine. On my double age spread I
added pictures to my right side and in the middle
of my left, as well as a pull quote in the middle in
bright red. All my content on my double page
spread the most important information is in bold
and highlighted red. The contents page image is
on the right hand side and all the information is
in boxes around it. There are different cover lines.
5. Imagery:
• My pictures I separated for all 3 piece of coursework
what is appropriate for each spread. The double page
spread I picked my best picture in my opinion, and a
similar picture around my article. My cover page I
picked the image where the model faces the front. My
images are bright and engaging to the audience, my
target audience is a bit younger, and the clothes she
wears would appeal to that target audience. The front
cover image shows the audience what the magazine is
about.
• My artist is front and centre of every shot and image,
and is arranged so that all the attention is on the artist.
6. Lighting:
• There is high key lighting in my pictures, and
natural lighting. This will attract the audience
due to the colour scheme. The yellow
connotes positive imagery and general vibe of
a dance magazine. It suits my magazine as the
colouring is very bright.
8. Masthead:
• The masthead is big and bold in the font
Peppermint. It’s unique and unusual. I feel this
would suit my target audience due to the colour
scheme. I used black so it would stand out against
the yellow background and makes it stand out.
Also my artist head overlaps the masthead,
showing that the brands is well known enough to
sell covers even if you cant see it. I was able to
find the dance conventions of this genre and
what people like.
9. Layout:
The layout is over 3 pages of work
• Cover page
• Contents
• Double page spread
I carried out my investigation and asked my
fellow class mates what was the best option. I
was able to find the most popular masthead and
what people would like to see when they read.
10. Puff:
• I have used a puff on my double page spread
is done to add dimension and a way of
advertising my magazine. I advertise about
the giveaway of discounted tickets to wireless.
As they will be interested in the idea of
discounts and the bright orange attracts
people to the article.
