Framing an Appropriate Research Question 6b9b26d93da94caf993c038d9efcdedb.pdf
Proposal
1. Proposal
Working Title:
‘Become the Player’
Audience:
The audience for my film is teenagers to younger adults (13-25) as there is a wide range of
aspects in the movie. The movie is mostly set at night so it would not be suitable for the younger
generation, but it is perfect for teenagers. The movie is a simple concept with lots of action, so it is
an easy film to follow meaning there is more time to focus on each aspect. This film is also for both
genders as there are no gender specific things in the movie as I wanted a larger audience. Due to
COVID I have had to use all male characters, but I would have preferred to have a mix of male and
female characters as it would be more suitable for both genders.
Rationale:
Since starting college this academic year, I have learnt how to use Premiere Pro which meant I
could import all my files and then cut and arrange them for my videogame sequence. I was also
able to include the soundtracks and sound effects and add some extra effects to them such as
fading. I have also learnt a few things on Photoshop such as layers and keyboard commands
which meant I could experiment with the layers and then change stuff quicker with the shortcuts
such as Ctrl + T to resize and move the subjects on the layer. I have also learnt how to animate
using pixel art in Photoshop, which I then exported to Premiere Pro. Combining what I have learnt
from college and what I already knew, I decided that I wanted to learn some new tools (the lasso
tool) in Photoshop so I have created some more complicated designs for my prints so I could
challenge myself and learn more things.
Project Concept:
First, I will create a synopsis to present my film idea and then I can add other products related to it.
My prints will support my film idea as I have selected the main game to be on the posters. I will use
some backgrounds to support the characters when they are running with the trail behind them. I
am going to use my photography lights and camera to create a long exposure trail to create the
illusion that they are in the game already.
My game is an endless running game where you have to jump over the holes in the ground and to
collect trophies at the end of the streets. I have added powerups to the game to break up the
repetitive running aspect making the game more enjoyable and playable. I have created a
cutscene to explain the rules which can be shown if the player selects it, so it does not play every
time.
I will need to research for some inspiration for each product as I have not made any before and
videogames are not one of my main interests. I am going to look at the aesthetics of each aspect
and how I can create a theme across the package such as a constant colour theme or a signature
design aspect such as font and layout. I will also need to do some research on Photoshop for the
animation and new tools when I need to use them.
Evaluation:
I plan to evaluate all my work as a whole and as the individual aspects. I am creating a Production
Log and a Diary which is an ongoing evaluation of my production work where I comment on what I
have done and how it has gone to see if I could change anything or learn from it. For my final
evaluation, I am going to look at the aesthetics of the package and how it works together and then
in more detail I will evaluate the individual products and aspects to create a in depth evaluation. I
will then comment on what I have learnt from this project and what I can do to improve my next
piece of work.
