2. Using Adobe Photoshop, I used this to develop my
products, to create and edit my final print pieces.
This developed my skills in the active editing phase.
The tools available from using this product helped
create what I hope are professional looking
products, Using tools such as layer masking and
lighting effects I was able to create the feel of a
glow in my first image, showing the Sci-Fi Fantasy
feel in my film but with my second set of products I
used brush tool to create the effect of flying birds,
showing fear in the film and the embodiment of
the genre I had selected, moulding the 2 together.
3. I used this product to help create some shots in my
film although I did not end up using the shots it
helped developed my knowledge of products I
can use to produce my movie, I altered and
manipulated a shot to show an energy flow from
the hands of one of my actors creating the illusion
of losing themselves or releasing themselves, again
showing the type of genre it is; After Effects is one
of the mainstream products that professional
movie makers use today and learning to use this
product will advance my skills and knowledge
when extending from A2 to University.
4. Final Cut Pro, I used this to edit and score my film to
be produced and placed onto YouTube for
viewers to see, This being another products
professional makers use, it is expected to be high
quality and full of add-ons, using this I was able to
add my inter titles and add my sound along with
organizing, editing and trimming my shots to fit the
standard I had set for my product. It allowed me to
create quick alternating shots that are again tied in
with the thriller genre.
5. Dafont.com was a very helpful source for
abnormal fonts and fonts that would tie the posters
and images together to create a strong
promotional package that would fit in with the
genre I decided to go with, using this I
downloaded the fonts for my main product poster
for the name and also used other to create the
parts of my magazine cover; along with my
company logos. Such as my Requiem productions
logo, both fonts used in this are downloaded from
this site. This proved to be a helpful asset to the
creation and editing process. I will happily use this
resource again for other products I create in the
future
6. During the preliminary production, I used
many products to develop my skills, one
being garage band accessible on the
macs, I used this to create a sample track
for my then preliminary trailer product,
although I did not use this in my main trailer;
I was able to access the tools by altering
media tracks and create a small score for a
film, it comes with many sounds to use and
is a valuable tool during the production
process if needed
7. FreeSFX is another tool I used during my
production and editing phase, I used it to
download unique sounds to add to my final
product, I downloaded many; such as the
introduction to my film you hear rain
crashing and an earthquake like sound
these were sourced from FreeSFX, Proving
this site is another valuable asset. Even
during the preliminary pre-production
phase I used it to add sounds to my garage
band track.
8. YouTube was an important site I used during all
phases of production, I used it to research similar
products, for example I researched into dark set films
such as the new prototype film (2014), elder films
such as fight club (1999) and cult films such as V for
Vendetta (2005) I researched these films because I
believe these are dark products that always have an
anterior motive and a spin into the film that you
cannot see when watching the trailer,; it usually gives
you a small hint toward this but it is not always clear.
Through my research it opened my eyes to what
viewers expect to see from the thriller/sci-fi genre and
through this I believe I captured the embodiment of
the genre
9. Live type was a small product exclusive
to the mac and with this I created
animated inter titles in which I added
some to my film although because of the
quality of some I did not add some to my
final product.
10. Using sites such as twitter and Facebook.
I was able to share my products and
retrieve my feedback from my peers and
also create a survey using
surveymonkey.com and I shared this to
gain more of my research during the pre-
production phase, allowing me to see
what the community expect from my
genre such as antagonist, locations etc.
11. Apple Mac/ Windows PC – These were 2
hardware products vital to my production
because I was able to edit my promotional
package both at home and at college with
the unique products available on both
SLR and HD Camcorder– These again were
vital to my production as without these
there would be no film or promotional
package to create, I used the SLR to
capture my model stills for my poster and
film where as the HD handheld camera I
used to film the shots for my film.
