1. Evaluation Question 4- how did you use media technologies
in the construction, research and planning and evaluation
stages?
2. RESEARCH
Primary research- Finding
short films on Future short
channel to analyse in terms
of narrative. Giving me
ideas for my own.
Tutorials for Adobe Premiere
Pro CS5.5 and Adobe Photoshop
CS5.5.
Used to find feature length films
trailers that I could not find the
film for on You Tube. That were
based around dreams.
Primary research- I also used this for
searching for feature length films to
understand narrative more easily.
Also used for secondary research-
looking at other students work to see
if there’s worked or not.
ONLINE
SOFTWARE
Microsoft PowerPoint was used
to gather research of poster and
film review analysis’. To upload
onto slide share.
VLC Player used to watch and
take snapshots of the shorts that I
was unable to upload onto
Tumblr.
Prezi used to present a couple of
film analysis’.
3. PLANNING
ONLINE
SOFTWARE
HARDWARE
Facebook was
used to organise
filming dates
Microsoft Paint
was used in the
creation of poster
designs.
Celtx was used
in the creation of
the final script.
Bubbl.us is an online tool that can
be used to create a mind map
which I have done so for the
planning stages of the poster.
Microsoft Word was the main
piece of software used in creating
first drafts of the script and shot
lists. However, with the creation of
the script I found that it took a long
time to get this done, sticking to the
layout of a script so I went on to
use Celtx as it already had preset
indentations to use which sped up
the whole process of creating this.
I used my
Samsung GT-
S5230 Edge Quad
Band phone to
also organise
filming dates
through texts but
also used to take
pictures of
possible locations
to film.Possible images for the ancillary tasks but
found that when uploading them onto
Tumblr, the quality of images were not
that great.
4. CONSTRUCTION
SOFTWARE
HARDWARE
VLC Player was used
to preview footage
before uploading onto
premiere to edit them.
It was also used to
preview the short before
uploading the final
version onto YouTube
Adobe Photoshop CS5 was
used to create the poster
applying the colour splash
affect and a title.
Microsoft Word was used in the creation
of the film review. There were alternatives
to this like Adobe Illustrator as that would
have been able to make it look more
professional but had no knowledge of how
to use this and felt that I could use word.
A canon 550D camera was used to film the
footage for the short. Filmed in 720p at 30
frames a second. With a manual zoom and focus.
The camera was
placed on a tripod
to keep the
camera steady
while shooting.
This was also used to take the
pictures required for the
ancillary tasks of a poster and
film review.
A Sony digital
recorder was
used to record
the sound from
the library for
the end section
of the short.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 was used
to edit the footage I had taken and
sound. Using a leave colour effect
during the dream section of the short,
leaving the main character in colour
with the rest in black and white.
Using continuity editing with cross
dissolves and fades.
5. EVALUATION
ONLINE
SOFTWARE
Glogster was used to
present the second
evaluation. So I could
compare both ancillary
tasks to the short film
to see how they are
effective as a
combination.
Prezi was used to
present the first
evaluation to show the
conventions that I have
used, developed and
challenged.
I used YouTube to annotate the final
piece in terms of what my audience
feedback said.
Facebook was used to send the
short to people with the
questionnaire to get feedback
from
Microsoft PowerPoint was used
to present this evaluation
question.
With all research, planning, construction
work and evaluation questions uploaded
onto my blog on Tumblr.
