3. The author
• The autor is Suzanne Collins who was born August 10, 1962. She is an American television writer
and novelist. She writes The Hunger Games trilogy (which consists of The Hunger Games,
Catching Fire, and Mockingjay). She has won a lot of prizes like California Young Reader Medal in
2011 and Georgia Peach Book Awards for Teen Readers in 2010.
Unluckily, I only read the
first book of the trilogy:
The Hunger Games so I
will talk about it. This
book is a novel about
young- adult fiction and
of course of mistery.

4. The plot
• It is a story about a poor population after the war. Panem, where the story happens, is divided
into 12 areas and nobody can go out from their area. Capitolio, who has all the power of Panem,
organizate a television programme where they humiliate the population, every year two kids
from each area have to fight against the other to be the winner.
• The young sister of Katniss was chosen so , Katniss offer her to be the fighter to save her sister.
Katniss is the principal character , orphan from her dad and a player of only 16 years old. She has
to show her strength but it isn´t as easy as she though, because it´s going to be a love story with
one of her opponent, Peeta.
• Finally, the law of the game is that it can only be one winner and they don´t want to kill one.
What will happen?

5. The characters
• The main characters are Katniss and Peeta. Katniss is a strong girl, she hasn´t got
father so she has to help her family. She is very poor but her character is very
aggressive and I like her very much. However, Peeta is a rich person but he is not
a strong boy. In the field , he won´t be aggressive because he is falls in love with
Katniss..

6. The characters
• Katniss Everdeen – the main character, a sarcastic adolescent and strong will. She is sixteen at the beginning of history.
Katniss lives in District 12, the coal mining district and one of the poorest districts, living in the part nicknamed La Veta. He
often hunts off the District fences in order to feed his family. His father was a miner who died in a mine accident. Her
hunting and bow skills are key to her at the Hunger Games. He has straight black hair, light gray eyes, olive skin and
usually wears his hair in a braid.
• Peeta Mellark - The Male Tribute of District 12, Peeta is the son of a baker. He has been in love with Katniss since he was
five. Peeta is characterized by a nice personality, strategy, and being disinterested. He has blonde hair pulling ash and blue
eyes, unlike the Veta people, the poor part of District 12, where Katniss lives, who have black hair and gray.
• Gale Hawthorne - Katniss's best friend, they met when she was only twelve and he was fourteen years old
after his parents died in the same mining explosion. Gale hunts with Katniss in the woods, almost every day.

7. The characters
• Haymitch - He is the mentor of Katniss and Peeta. Haymitch is the only survivor of the District 12 Games.
Dangerous and cunning, Haymitch is usually drunk, with a glass in one hand and a knife in the other. He
slept with a knife in his hand. He promised that he would be sober enough to train Katniss and Peeta for the
Games. He sends gifts from sponsors to Katniss throughout the book to help her survive. He won the second
Vasallaje de los Veinticinco, where he required double the taxes.
• President Coriolanus Snow - President of Panem. It is described by having very swollen lips, most likely it was
an operation to alter the appearance, which are very popular in the Capitol. His breath smells like blood, and
so he carries a genetically modified white rose in his pocket to cover the smell.

8. Theme and setting
• The story rounds about the power of the Capitolio, the exciting character of
Katniis and the love between the main characters. I identify with Peeta because
he is very scared and if I would be there I would be terrified.
• The story takes place in Panem, which is divided into 12 areas. Panem seems to
be always cloudy and it is always a sad feeling inside it.

9. My opinion
• I chose this book because it is really exciting, you are hooking to finish it . It is an
example of overcoming and valentine.
• I recommend it to almost teenagers beacause it reflects the attitude of our age.. I
hope it will be useful for you.
