This document reviews free vibration analysis of cantilever beams made of different materials like brass, stainless steel, and aluminum. It discusses using experimental methods like an accelerometer and vibscanner software to determine the natural frequency and damping ratio of cantilever beams under different conditions. The objective is to analyze how surface cracks of varying sizes affect the natural frequency and damping ratio of beams made of different materials. Previous studies on vibration analysis of cantilever beams are also summarized. The methodology involves performing free vibration tests on brass, stainless steel and aluminum cantilever beams of specified dimensions and using vibscanner and omnitrend software to obtain frequency response graphs and calculate natural frequency and damping ratio from the graphs.
