The document describes the design of a chain tensioner for an FSAE car. Four chain tensioner designs were considered: rigid differential mount, spring tensioner, indexable pivot tensioner, and eccentric chain tensioner. A Pugh chart was used to compare the designs based on criteria like weight, manufacturability, adjustability, etc. The eccentric chain tensioner scored highest as it allows high adjustability while maintaining robustness. Finite element analysis confirmed the safety of the eccentric hub and differential mount designs. The final eccentric tensioner design includes a split hub that provides 16mm of tensioning adjustment through its 36 holes mating with the 32 holes on the differential mount. This ensures proper chain tensioning and alignment of the differential
