EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF
PAKISTAN
“EDUCATION IS BETTER SAFEGAURD OF LIBERTY…..
THAN A STANDING ARMY”
Education is the backbone of every nation. Education is the knowledge of putting one’s
potentials to maximum use. Without education, no one can find the proper right in this
world.
Education is actually the delivery of knowledge and skills from a teacher to students.
IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION:
Importance of education is basically for two reasons:
FIRST REASON:
Education makes man a right thinker. Without education, no one can think properly. It
tells man how to think and how to make decision.
SECOND REASON:
Only through the attainment of education, man is enabling to receive information from
the external world.
“Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know?”
Education is essential for everyone. It is a universally accepted fact that education is
considered the most powerful
The first verses of the Quran began with the word:
“Read. Read in the name of thy Lord who created; [He] created the human being
from blood clot. Read in the name of thy Lord who taught by the pen:[He] taught
the human being what he did not know”
EFFECT OF EDUCATION ON PEOPLE:
Education has a positive effect on human life .People cannot even imagine to live
without it.
1) Education gives people critical skills.
2) Education helps people to earn respect and recognition.
3) Education assists scientists in inventing equipment and devices.
4) Education helps to fight against the spread of AIDS and other diseases.
5) Education encourages transparency, good governance, and helps fight against
corrupt ion.
6) It unlocks the door to awareness and informed choices.
If we want to progress, to preserve our freedom, to see democracy flourishing and earn
respect in the amity of the nations, we must be educated and well-informed; otherwise,
we make a mockery of ourselves and our freedom.
IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN ISLAM:
Islamic education is one of the best systems of education, which makes an ethical
groomed person with all qualities.
Our Holy Prophet (SAW), said,
“Seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave.”
The first word revealed of the Quran was “Iqra” READ! Seek Knowledge! Educate
yourselves! Be educated.
ACCORDING TO LITERACY DEFINITION:
(As in 1998 census)
“An educated person is the one who can read a newspaper and write a simple
letter in any language”.
According to this definition 40% population of Pakistan is literate. Pakistan is a middle
income country with a literacy rate of only 40%. United Nations Development
programmers report puts Pakistan in the category of “Low Human Development.”
Countries like Philippines, South Korea, Srilanka, Thailand’ Singapore, China, Indonesia
and Maldives achieve 100% primary participation rate and above 80% literacy rates in
30 years.
EDUCATION SYSTEM IN PAKISTAN:
The educational system of Pakistan is the least-developed in the world.
STRUCTURE:
There are 3 main sectors of education system in Pakistan.
1. Formal Education
2. Informal Education
3. Religious Education
DIFFERENCE B/W FORMAL AND INFORMAL
EDUCATION
FORMAL EDUCATION INFORMAL EDUCATION
Formal education is classroom based,
provided by trained teachers.
Informal education happens outside a
classroom, in after-school programs,
community-based organizations.
Classrooms have the same kids and same
teachers every day
After-schools programs are often drop-in
Classroom activities can last several days. After-school programs need to complete an
activity each day

GOVERNMENT INSTITUIONS:

2) Teachers are not given adequate salary.
3) Government schools offer instructions in Urdu or the local in provincial language.
4) LOW STANDARD OF PUBLIC SECTOR EDUCATION:
The majority of Pakistani economy is poor and 70%of literate people want to get
education from public sector due to unaffordability of expenses.
PRIVATE INSTITUTION:
Private schools are also known as independent schools .Independent schools are
non-government institution (Generally not the part of a system)

MADARIS:
The third type of educational system in Pakistan is Madras.
1) It is considered as non-formal education due to its characteristics:
 Classes are held on Saturdays and Sundays only.
 It is non-graded and may have multi-age grouping.
 It only requires its teachers to be graduates of a madrasah or an imam(
Muslim religious leader)
2) They are providing ISLAMIC EDUCATION to bulk of students.
3) The teachers concentrate on Islamic religious and cultural subjects and
include some mathematics and sciences courses, with Arabic as medium of
instructions.
DRAWBACKS OF THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM OF
PAKISTAN:
1) The lack of funds is the most important drawback.
2) There is no proper planning.
3) The government does not have enough money to build more primary
schools.
4) Schools buildings are in bad conditions.
5) There is no proper furniture or facilities of drinking water and playgrounds.
6) There are thousands of schools without proper classrooms.
CONCLUSION:
To improve educational system, the people must need to change their own thinking
which will start the engine of education on the track of progress.
