Ans: INTRODUCTION
The importance of education in the process of nation-building and economic
prosperity can not be denied. The famous Greek Philosopher Plato, while emphasizing the need
and importance of education, said, “Education brings light to human mind and eye”. There is no
denying the fact that uneducated and illiterate people cannot perform their duties, national as
well as personal, in a proper and befitting manner. The success of democracy, the most popular
system of Government of the modern times, largely depends on the widespread of education
Every civilized society, desirous of progress in the modern age, gives
top most priority to the acquisition of knowledge and spend huge amount of education in order to
curb and eradicate ignorance. Educated people are the development and progress of the society.
They can ably help and assist the state in achieving the desired goals of a welfare state.
MEANING OF EDUCATION:
Education does not mean acquisition of a degree. It means
awareness which is essential for character building. The basic purpose of education is to equip
one self with that king of knowledge which can help a person to serve his nation in the process of
nation building and economic betterment. Its is, therefore, imperative that there should be plenty
of good educational institutions where modern education can be imparted to the people.
IMPORTSNCE OF EDUCATION
Safe guard of ideology of Pakistan:
The main object of the educational system of
Pakistan is the preservation and protection of Pakistan ideology which was the basis of
Pakistan movement. The educational system of Pakistan should be based on the Islamic
ideals which was the primary purpose of the freedom struggle.
National Unity:
Our educational system should strive to develop national unity by
creating social and cultural harmony. It should be accomplished in view of the Islamic
ideology.
Character Building:
Character Building of the individual should be the prime objective of
educational structure in Pakistan. This very purpose should be achieved in a way to infuse
courage in the youth to enable them to face truth.

As education is meant for the elimination of illiteracy,
Pakistan’s educational setup should attain this target by launching a comprehensive
programme of primary, secondary and adult education as quickly as possible.
Promotion Of Technical And Professional Education:
In the modern age technical and
professional education has acquired greater importance due to the advancement of
modern technology. The educational structure in Pakistan should be devised on the
pattern which can ensure the promotion of scientific, technical and professional
education. The student should be offered different disciplines to make a choice of their
own of the subjects.
Welfare of The Teacher Community:
Teacher is the pillar of every educational setup.
It is the teacher, who by his dedicated efforts, helps in building up a stable educational
edifice .The teacher, by edifying the student community, gives to the nation the future
leaders, administrators, soldiers, engineers, businessmen and many other who are in
position to take on the national responsibilities in a befitting fashion. The educational
system should, therefore, be established in a way as to ensure maximum welfare, dignity
and security of the teaching community.

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY 1998-2010
National education policy 1998-2010 stressed the need and importance of the following aspects
of education within the country:
ACCESS OF EDUCATION TO ALL CITIZENS:
Education will be accessible to all citizens because it is the right of the individual citizens of
Pakistan.
USE OF NON FROMAL EDUCATION:
In order to eradicate illiteracy all possible formal and non-formal means will b used .by the year
2010 the gross enrolment of children in the primary age group (5-9) will rise to 105%.
4. COMPULSORY PRIMARY EDUCATION:
Compulsory primary education act will be promulgated and enforced by the year 2004-05.
VOCATIONAL & TECHNICAL EDUCATION:
A separate stream of Matric (technical) will be added to general education for those who plan to
pursue higher education. Facilities for technical education will be increased including
undertaking of training programme for training of technical & vocational teacher to cope with
the increasing demand of teachers.
COMPUTER EDUCATION:
Technological & scientific knowledge will be expanded by introducing computer education as a
subject & above level. The opportunities will be provided for technical teaching.
TEACHER TRAINING:
The existing capacity of teacher training institution shall be fully utilized. The quality of teacher
education programme will be raised by prescribing the qualification of primary teachers from
Matric to intermediate. Two parallel programmes of FA/F.Sc. Education & B.A/B.Sc. Education
will be launched . The curricula of teacher education will be revised to bring it at par with other
programmes in the region.
ESTABLISHMENT OF EDUCATION FOUNDATIONS:
Education foundations have been established for providing financial assistance to the private
sector for opening non-commercial education institutions specially in rural ares.
ESTABLISHMENT OF DISTRICT EDUCATION:
A district education authority will be established in each district to ensure public participation in
monitoring & implementation of education programmes.
INCREASE IN EDUCATION BUDGET:
The national budget for education will be increased from 2.2% to 4% of the total national
income.

The policy for up graduation of the quality of education in deeni madaris (school of Islamic
education) & to bring deeni madarais & modern school loser to each stream in curriculum &
contents of education.
PROMOTION OF SPORTS &GAMES:
To promote sports & games from grassroots at all the tiers of the education system.

Ans: INTRODUCTION
Every civilized society. Desirous of progress in the modern age, gives top most priority to the
acquisition of knowledge and spend huge amount on education in order to curb and eradicate
ignorance. Education people are the source of strength for they can effectively contribute
towards the development and progress of the society. They can ably help and assist the state in
achieving the desired goals of a welfare sale.
SOCIO CULTURAL IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION:
There are the number of custom and traditions, which are against the teaching of Islam.

AIR SHOOTING AT MARRIAGE:
Air shooting at the marriages is a general trend of our society, which is only due to lack
education. Islam is against such pump and show.

QUARRELS ON THE APPERANCE OF MOON:
Every year on the event of Eid-ul-Azha quarrel can be seen in different parts of the country due
to illiteracy of the people.

USE OF DRUGS:
Use of drugs is a big evil of our society because the person who uses drugs, his family suffers a
lot and it is also against the teaching of Islam. It is rare among the educated people.

In our society art, poetry, literature and music can not be appreciated without education.

ILL MANNERED PEOPLE:
In our society and educated person is distinguished by his good manners. Uneducated people
generally possess ill mannered.

WASTAGE OF TIME:
In uneducated society people are use to reach late at any function while the educated give
importance to be punctual.
CONCLUSION
Education is the base of a cultured society. There are many social evils, which are only due to
lack of education. In Pakistan many social have not vanished due to illiteracy. We must
increase our literacy rate for a better society.
Q-4.Describe the structure of formal education in Pakistan?
Ans:
INTRODUCTION:
Formal system of education means provision of education by establishing
different educational institutions, prescribing text book , appointing teachers, establishing a
system of examination and awarding certificated and degrees. Rules and regulations for formal
system of education are prepared and Implemented. The system is controlled with these rules.
There is a certain period of study for certain level to earn a certificate or degrees. The sprit of
formal system lies in management, Control and discipline. The formal system is fully controlled
by the government.
In Pakistan the formal system is categorized as follows:
1. PRIMARY STAGE:
Primary stage is abase of educational structure and. Therefore, carries
immense importance. It starts from class 1 to 5. Total duration is 5 years. Children are admitted
in class-1 at the age of 4 or 5 years.

MIDDLE STAGE:
It starts from class-6 to 8. Its duration is 3 years. Children after passing
primary stage are admitted in class-6. A certificate is issued y the school after passing
middle stage.

SECONDARY STAGE:
The secondary stage occupies supreme position in the national
education set up as the skilled manpower is trained and prepared at this level. The
importance of the secondary education is due to the fact that it prepares the student to
take on the higher and university education. It starts from class-9 to 10. Its duration is 2
years. Students who have passes middle stage are admitted in class 9. The board issues a
certificate on passing secondary school examination.

HIGHER SECONDARY STAGE:
Intermediate education has been separated from the
university education. The courses for intermediate education are covered during 2 years.
The intermediate examinations are conducted by the secondary boards according to the
syllabi prescribes by the boards of Intermediate and secondary Education. It starts from
11 to 12. Student after passing secondary school examination are admitted in the higher
secondary class. Its duration is 2 years.

DEGREE LEVEL:
After the Secondary stage is the higher education, which includes
Engineering, medical, law, bachelors and master’s education. All the institution imparting
higher education is run by the government. The colleges give two years degree courses
while further two years are spent for a Master’s degree. Different courses are offered for
technical and medical education. It starts after the student pass higher secondary level of
education and are admitted in a college earn a degree. The government has raised its
duration from 2 years to 3 years. Mow it starts from 13th year to 15th year of studies.
University issues a degree to successful candidates. However, in many parts of the
country, the degree course is of a duration of two years.

UNIVERSITY LEVEL:
It starts after the student ass degree level examination from the
college. Its duration is 2 years. Degree is issued by the university on successful
completion of the course and passing the examination.
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION:
Professional education, which is also formal education, is divided into the following:-
DIPLOMA:
The students who pass the secondary school certificate get admission in
diploma courses taught in the polytechnic institution in the are f electrical, mechanical,
8. automobiles, civil engineering and computers. The students who do not want to get
higher education for any reason join diploma courses.
ENGINEERING DEGREE:
After passing higher secondary level examination the student who opted mathematics at
higher secondary level get admission in different branches of engineering in the engineering
colleges or University. The study in electrical, mechanical, chemical, electrons, mining, textiles,
petroleum and computer science. Their duration of study is 4 to 5 years.
MEDICAL DEGREE:
After passing higher secondary examination the student who opted biology as a subject at
higher secondary level seek admission in MBBS to become a doctor. The duration of studies at
MBBS is 5 year.
COMMERCE:
The students after passing secondary school examination are admitted in the 1st year commerce
class. They pass inter commerce & further B.com & M.Com the subject of study include
business & administrator, management science, information technology, economic, accounting
etc.
AGRICULTURAL DEGREE:
After passing higher secondary examination in science, students are admitted for
B.Sc(Agriculture) & after that to M.Sc(Agriculture).some go for degrees in agricultural
engineering.
HIGHER EDUCATION:
Higher education can be had after passing M.A or M.Sc or M.Com. Degree examination. The
degree of PH.D. Can be obtained after earning Master degrees .Similarly, after MBBS doctor
specialize in a number of branches of medicine. They are called specialized doctor.
