Music Video Proposal
1. HAYDON MEDIA
Proposal
Producer(s): Ella Grey Production Title: EDEN - Gravity Music
Video
Brief:
To be able to create a fully successful music video (that lasts for around 3 to 4 minutes
long), using all of our own ideas, artists, locations and props that follow the typical codes
and conventions of my chosen music genre (indie pop.)
Aim:
To create a successful music video for the song ‘Gravity’ by EDEN, and artist who has
acquired quite a small following in his music career so far.
Description of your intentions:
The song has a duration of around 4 minutes. It has quite a dramatic and meaningful story
behind the lyrics, and I would like to use a variety of different camera shots, with the use of
different lighting features and props in order to exemplify the narrative. I want to keep my
video in coordanance with EDEN and his style of work, so I have chosen to use a male
teenager in my video as the main artist. I am going to have my main artist lip sync to some
of the lyrics adding in a performance element to my video, this also links to Goodwin’s
theory of music videos. I plan to use multiple cuts as the song continue to play, some cuts
will be in time with the beats you can hear within the song as I believe this will make the
video look a whole lot more professional by tying both the song and video together.
Target Audience:
My target audience will be made up of the indie/pop fan base. This will allow my target
audience to be of a very large quantity, as indie and pop are two of the widest genres within
the music industry as they do not really have to follow particular rules and have no real
limits, whereas rock music would typically strictly stick to the rock conventions.
Similar Products:
Other songs by EDEN such as ‘Wake Up’ and ‘XO’.
James Bay songs such as ‘Let It Go’ and ‘Move Together’ are also very similar to my song
choice as they are from the same type of genre.
Videos that have inspired me are videos such as ‘Come and Goes’ by Covey and ‘Holocene’
by Bon Iver, as they are both set outside in large woodland areas and use similar styles and
themes that I am hoping to use in my own music video.
