2. How does your planned music video meets
the codes and conventions of the genre?
Ben Howard’s music is classed as Folk music or
Indie music. Music videos from this genre tend to
be fairly simple as their are stereotypically low
budget. This is suited to the production of my
music video as I am a student and will not be able
to create high budget music videos which are
normally seen in the Pop industry.
3. How does your planned music video meets the
codes and conventions of the genre?
My music video will use mainly narrative and some
performance-based displays. Music videos from
this genre tend to tell a story which relates to the
sound track or have a large focus on surroundings
typically natural landscapes which I will use in my
own music video.
4. How does your planned music video meets
the codes and conventions of the genre?
I plan to use continuity editing for example the use
of POV shots, tracking shots, shot-reverse-shots,
eye level shots. The shots used help to portray the
idea and the storyline in the music video to the
audience.
5. How does your planned music video meets
the codes and conventions of the genre?
The music video will express visual images of
which support the artists sound track and lyrics.
The music video will emphasise the meaning of the
song to the audience. Typically artists of this genre
have music videos which explain the song.
6. How will it target your chosen audience?
My music video will be suited to the stereotypical
themes and ideas of any music video from the genre
of Folk and Indie music. It will portray ideas which
audiences from this genre expect to see and enjoy
seeing which encourages their interest in the music
video.
7. How will it target your chosen audience?
The actor in my music video will be 18 years old, I
think that viewers of a similar age are likely to
relate to the storyline and the ideas expressed in
the music video as the actor will have similar life
experiences to them.
8. How will the music video meet the
expectations of your chosen artist?
The music video will support the ideas expressed
by Ben Howard in his sound track. Through my
music video I simply aim to emphasise Ben
Howard’s ideas without changing them or adding
my own. It is a music video which is hopefully
similar to a music video Ben Howard would create
for this sound track.
9. How will the music video meet the
expectations of your chosen artist?
The music video will hold the theme of simplicity.
Ben Howard presentation of himself, his sound
tracks and music videos are all simple and don’t
distract the audience from the key focus which is
the music.
10. Are there any difficulties which you think you
may encounter during the filming of the music
video?
I expect that there may be some difficulties which
may arise when filming the music video such as the
weather, it is possible that it could rain or snow
when I am filming. Also as it is winter the number
of hours of daylight are limited. However I am able
to work around these problems as changes in the
weather may benefit the music video visually and I
have left myself enough time to make changes to
any problems.
11. Are there any difficulties which you think you
may encounter during the filming of the music
video?
Because the lighting may vary between scenes shot
on different days, I plan to film similar scenes in the
same locations on the same day to ensure that the
lighting fits and I successfully achieve continuity
editing.
