Presentation by Andreas Schleicher Tackling the School Absenteeism Crisis 30 ...
Evaluation 7
1. Looking back at the preliminary
task what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to
the full product?
Evaluation 7
2. • The camera work has improved a lot since the
preliminary task in technique and editing skills. The
continuity has also improved as here is more
attention to the smaller details that contribute to the
overall experience of the film. One such example
was how, in the preliminary task, there was a point
where the person filming held it in portrait rather
than landscape, like what was being done for the
rest of the filming of the task; no such mistakes
were made during the opening sequence.
3. • I have also had to be more conscience of the
background noise in my opening sequence than
in my preliminary task, this has helped towards
the effectiveness of the the final product. By this I
mean that I have gone to greater lengths to
eliminate background noise where it was picked
up in the filming; there was quite a lot in my case
because I filmed in an urban area where there
were a lot of cars that passed by, plus the wind
was pretty strong that day.
4. • I have also been more aware of the framing (in so
far as continuity is concerned) of the shot in my
opening sequence than in my preliminary task;
the trouble I had with this was in one point of the
preliminary task the character was holding a
piece of paper, but in the next shot it was gone.
This didn't happen in the opening sequence as
few props were used and the ones that were,
were consistent for the whole scene.
5. • There was also a greater focus on costume in the
opening sequence than in the preliminary task; this is to
do with the length of time given to us in order to plan
these, where the opening sequence had a lot more
planning time we were made to do our preliminary tasks
on the day we were told about them. The shirt of one
character was bright with Hawaiian prints, something that
didn't fit at all to the somewhat serious subject. Much
more thought was put into costuming of the opening
sequence to show relations between characters, and the
psychological effect of the clothing as well.
6. • I have also learnt the benefits of having more
planning time and why the planning is a very
important process to any form of filming. This is to
do with how both of my tasks turned out; the
preliminary task that was forcibly rushed and put
together on the spot paled in comparison to the
opening sequence in all aspects of being a
successful media product.
