1. 7) How many mistakesdid youmake, and did
youimprovein the maintask havingmade
errors in the preliminaryexercise?

2. Introduction
In the preliminary task they were a few errors that were pointed
out for my group to avoid in the main task. The editing, location
and camerawork was not up to scratch when dealing with the
preliminary task and that were the issues that I believed was
dealt with when doing my opening sequence.
3. Problemsthat occurredin the preliminary
task
The main problem with the preliminary task is that everything
was rushed. We lacked organisation the only thing we knew for
certain was the storyline. In order for the audience to
understand the concept of the storyline, the location has to be
under control and go with the storyline.
4. Coincidently, the location did go with the storyline because the
conversation between the boy and girl was about college and
that’s where the short clip was set.
However we never sat down and discussed where exactly in
college we wanted to do, we literally just found an empty
corridor and decided to do it there. Even though it worked it
could’ve better and that been due to lack of organisation.
5. Whatwedoneinthemaintasktoavoidtheproblemsthat
occurredinthepreliminarytask
This was pointed out to before doing the main task so we had to
make sure we knew exactly where we are going to film and what
relevance it has with the storyline. We decided to locate it in the
local pond because realistically that’s a place where a student
will chill and relax. So we all agreed that the pond was a realistic
location to set the film at. We also looked at different positions
of the locations i.e. where to stand and what place to come
in, which was something we did in the preliminary task in terms
of representation.
6. For example we had the 2 bullies standing at the bridge in the
pond representation status to high they were considered in
terms of status and also standing in the middle of the bridge to
show how they are the centre of attention at this moment time.
So nothing in our main task was coincidently every part of the
location had a representation, which was why it was chosen
unlike the preliminary task that was rushed and nothing was
really intended.
7. Otherproblemsthat occurredin the
Preliminarytask
Another issue that occurred in preliminary task that was notified
was the editing. Like what I said earlier everything was rushed
nothing was really organized. I didn’t have a clear idea of exactly
what I wanted the clip to look like even though the sequencing
was decent. It could’ve been done better if I had taken my time
and had it cross-examined to notify any errors.
8. Another flaw within the editing side of things concerning the
preliminary task was that there was jump cutting and that was
not intended in the sequencing. This was because some of the
clips were not properly filmed. This is an example of what the
jump cutting looked like:
9. For example one of the scenes was done more than once from
different angles but because it wasn’t near the exact as the
previous scene acted the editing became a difficult task to
complete. So you could say that the filming was also another
flaw for the preliminary task because it had an effect on editing
because it became more of harder task.
10. How we avoided the problem in the
main task
On the other hand, because there were decent shots whilst
filming the main task, it became easier to edit. The scenes were
all in order which meant there were fewer flaws with the
editing. The clips were not filmed at its highest potential
because of the way the camera was handled whilst recording
however the shots were good which was why it became
convenient to deal with whilst editing.
11. Conclusion
In general you could see the difference between the preliminary
task and the main task because there were many problems in
the first task that was avoided or dealt with whilst dealing with
the main task.
