It has been shown through research that children raised by homosexual parents are more nurturing,
recognize emotional situations, and show less aggressive interactions. The way that parents
communicate and interact with their children shows much more effect on development than the
sexual preference of their parents, claims Perrin (2002).

The Importance Of Child Rearing
China and America are quite different countries, not only visually but in how culture influences
daily life. Specifically, I will take a look at how each country values child rearing and how they
raise their children during childhood. I chose this topic because when I have children, I want to
personally raise my children in the best way that I can. Looking into different cultures, such as the
United States and China, will show me how children are raised and also the behavior of the children
as a result of how they were raised. As mentioned in an article published in Scandinavian Journal of
Psychology, individualism is valued in America, so we raise our children to exercise independence
hoping they will one day be independent. However, Chinese culture does not value individual
independence, so they raise their children to respect authority and are more controlling. Ultimately,

1. Dr. John Watson, in his advocation in favor of nurture stated essentially, as we had discussed in
some of our class sessions, that his approach to child rearing would have a direct impact on
outcomes. It could be argued that child rearing is the one thing that could counter cultural influences
as being more impactful. We discussed closed cultures such as those from the east where members
work in a collectivist way to benefit society as a whole. Then we have the individualist societies
similar to the western cultures where individual achievement for self is considered to be of more

Heman Humphrey was born on 26 March 1779 in Connecticut and died on 3 April 1861 in

These kids tend to be more antisocial, are disobedient and defiant. School performance can decline
