1. Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter
Sept. 27th – Oct. 1st
This Week’s Assignments
Math – We will continue graphing and line plots. We will continue looking at different
ways data can be plotted so it’s easier to read. We will be focusing more on bar graphs
this week. Students will continue working on how to write statements about this data
using the terms median, mode, range, and outlier and will have a quiz on Tuesday.
Writing – Students will begin a study on Narratives. We will be reading, studying, and
charting narratives to help us write our own.
Spelling – We will continue with our whole class sort this week. This weeks sort will
focus on the vowel sound “o”. We will be working whole group for a while until the
students are familiar with the different types of sorts.
Reading – Our focus this week will be practicing how to find answers in our reading
and how to support our answers with details from the text. Students will continue
meeting in reading groups where we will work further on reading strategies.
Social Studies – The Missouri and Mississippi Rivers will be our focus this week.
Students will need to know the five regions of Missouri and a fact about each one. Test
will be Thursday, Oct. 7th.
