This weekly newsletter from a kindergarten classroom provides updates on the lessons and activities from the past week, and outlines the planned lessons and activities for the upcoming week. In the past week, students worked on short vowel sounds, sequencing story events, colors, and printing letters Aa. In math they finished a unit test and started comparing numbers up to five. In science they learned about plant parts. The newsletter also provides reminders about returning rest items, snack days, and an upcoming buddy lunch, as well as suggestions for skills to practice at home.

Peek at the Week:
o This week in Reading, we worked on the short /a/
vowel sound at the beginning of words and in
the middle.
o We also reviewed sequencing story events, using
pictures in stories and recognizing colors purple,
orange and green.
o The students practiced printing the uppercase
and lowercase Aa.
o In Math we finished our unit one test and started
unit two. Our focus during this time will be
comparing numbers up to five.
o In science, we discussed plants and their parts,
such as leaves and flowers. We got to examine a
lot of leaves from outside the school.
o The students have spent much time practicing
our four High Frequency words. Our new word
this week was “that” Students should be
practicing words at home to help with quick
recall.
Coming Up:
o In reading we will be working on
quick recall of our high frequency
words.
o Next week is our review week to go
over the skills we have practiced and
our first Unit One test will be the
following week. I will send home a
practice pack.
o We will be reviewing sequencing
story events, using illustrations and
blending sounds with short /a/.
o We will practice writing the letters
Nn and Aa.
o The students will be practicing
writing numbers also.
o In science, we will finish up our
plants discussion.
o In math, we will be figuring out how
to compare two sets when one set is
more or less than the other.

o Please remember to return any rest time items sent
home to be washed.
o Please remember to send in snack on your child’s
assigned day!
o Buddy Lunch: It will be held October 23rd and 24th.

o The nurse is in need of plastic bags and sweatpants
with elastic waists.
