1.
Peek at the Week:
o The students were introduced to the consonant
sound of /Uu/ and our new high frequency words
“do, has”. We focused on the main idea of a
story, identified things that are over and under,
and blended short a, i and o words.
o In Math, we continue to work on addition
sentences. Students use linking cubes to model
different ways to make a number.
o Students practiced printing the upper and
lowercase letter Uu. We are still working on
printing full name and words/sentences.
o During small group reading, students are working
on blending three sounds to make a word, taking
apart the three sounds and writing simple CVC
words.
Coming Up:
o In Reading, we will be reviewing and
taking our Unit Four test. We will be
working on quick recall of our high
frequency words. Students should know
a word by sight within five seconds.
o We will be reviewing main idea,
comparing and contrasting, positions
words (on, off, inside, outside, over,
under, up and down.)
o We will also practice listening for the /r/,
/p/, /l/, and /u/ sounds in words.
o In science, we will continue working on
the earth’s land and formations.
o In math, we will be continuing
measuring and place value.
o Mrs. Stohon has been working on
general hygiene for health. We focused
on good dental practices and will move
onto who helps us stay healthy and safe
medicine handling.

We are working on keeping track of gloves in
coat pockets so students stay warm on the
frigid days.
Thanks for all of the homework help!
Students should never be stressed about it.
If it becomes an issue, just wait until later
or the next day.
Please encourage your child to keep
personal items (toys) at home as they are
not safe in the hall locker and do not use
them in the classroom.
