Week two
1.
Peek at the Week:
o In Reading, we are working on Unit Five. We
were introduced to the sound for /g/.
o We summarized details from a story as well as
identifying naming words(nouns).
o Our new High Frequency words are “he, like” and
the students identified the beginning/middle/and
end of a story.
o In math, we continued to work on counting coins
and practiced place value.
o Student writing is very impressive! We use our
high frequency words in our writing and utilize
dictionaries when we do not know words.
o During Science we discussed types of weather
and observed how temperatures go up and down
in a few days!
o Students also identified how technology impacts
transportation, construction, medical and wind
turbines.
Coming Up:
o Next week in Reading, we will be
introduced to the short vowel /e/.
o Our new High Frequency words for next
week will be “she, had” and identify story
details and story structure.
o Students will recognize and name letters
of the alphabet as well as identify action
words.
o In math, we will work on class number
stories and review three dimensional
shapes. We are starting to count by 2’s.
o We will continue to use high frequency
words in our writing.

makes shadows that appears through
the sky.

Reminders
o Continue practicing your phone number and birthday,
and now start working on address. Practice counting by
1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. Review our high frequency words
and practice reading simple, decodable words.
o Remember to return Library books by Tuesday.
o The weather is hopefully warming up and we will go
outside often. Please have your child wear safe sneaker
type shoes for the playground running!
o Please make sure students work on the prior high
frequency list as I am noticing they are forgetting some
of the older ones.
Please remind your child
that if they need frequent
drinks, they should bring a
water bottle. Too many
students are leaving during
instruction times. The
same is for the restroom.
Many students ask to leave
immediately after a class
bathroom break. Water
bottles need names on
them, also.
