Kindergarten Weekly Update: Sounds, Math, Money & More
1.
Peek at the Week:
This week we began our last reading unit for
the school year! Students worked on the
sound of /Hh/, cause and effect and
reviewed shapes. During small group
reading, we are finding ways to figure out
unknown words (mouth ready, use picture,
use meaning, skip the word and go back).
In Math we are working through Chapter 7,
numbers 11-19. The students are enjoying this
break from addition/subtraction!
Students are discussing how people save money
and make decisions on spending. Science time
allowed us to talk about space/stars/moon.

Reminders
The weather is going to warm up soon, and
we go outside often. Please have your child
wear safe sneaker type shoes for playground
running and a light jacket or sweatshirt.
We do not have gym at this time. Students
should return to gym on April 13.
Coming up:
Next week the class will work on the sound for
/w/ and our new words (has, come, get). We
are going to start working on types of books
(poetry, fiction, picture) and the
author/illustrator of a book.
Students will also finish talking about how
technology in so important in our lives and
finish up our discussion on natural resources.
Students will work in the pocket chart center
sorting and writing sentences (question,
statement and exclamation). In the letter
center, they will be sorting consonants and
vowels so we can begin to notice patterns in
words we read.
