Week four
1.
Peek at the Week:
o This week in Reading, we worked on the short /a/
vowel sound at the beginning of words and in
the middle.
o We also reviewed sequencing story events, using
pictures in stories and recognizing colors purple,
orange and green.
o The students practiced printing the uppercase
and lowercase Aa.
o In Math we worked on number printing and
counting games and shapes.
o In science, we discussed plants and their parts,
such as leaves and flowers. We got to examine a
lot of leaves from outside the school.
o The students have spent much time practicing
our four High Frequency words. Our new words
this week were “that, at, had and to”. Students
should be practicing words at home to help with
quick recall. We are now up to 15 words.
Coming Up:
o In reading we will be working on
quick recall of our high frequency
words.
o Next week is our review week to go
over the skills we have practiced and
our first Unit One test will be the
following week. I will send home a
practice pack.
o We will be reviewing sequencing
story events, using illustrations and
blending sounds with short /a/.
o We will practice writing the letters
Nn and Aa.
o The students will be practicing
writing numbers also.
o In science, we will begin discussing
animals!

teen numbers, coins and start talking
number stories.
