Kindergarten Weekly Update
1.
Peek at the Week:
o This week in Reading was Review Week! We worked on
the /n/ and /a/ sounds at the beginning, middle or end
of a word.
o We also reviewed blending sounds with short /a/.
o We also reviewed sequencing story events, using
pictures in stories and practiced the high frequency
words.
o We discussed items from our story that were real and
pretend.
o The students practiced printing the uppercase and
lowercase letters Aa and Nn.
o We also practiced writing numbers.
o In Math we learned about digits and how we use them
to make one and two digit numbers. Students also
rolled dice and counted dots to color shapes.
o In science, we were introduced to animals. We
discussed animals and read a poem about animals.
Coming Up:
o In reading we will take our Unit 1
Reading Test. We will be working on
quick recall of our high frequency words.
o We will be reviewing sequencing story
events, using illustrations and blending
sounds with short /a/.
o We will also practice listening for the /n/
and /a/ sounds in words.
o In science, we will discuss what an animal
is andexplore animals in your
neighborhood.
o In math, we will be making necklaces
with macaroni and working with making
one and two digit numbers.
Reminders:
o PCSD will hold PINK OUT on Friday,
October 21st
. Students and staff are
encouraged to wear PINK!
o Safe Halloween is October 26th at the
High School. 5-6:30. Call for more
details 886-8188.
o Practice reviewing the letters of the
alphabet, identifying numbers, and our
high frequency words.
o Buddy Lunch is the 24th
and 25th

A Practice Pack is included for you to use at home to help
prepare your child for our test. The completed test will be
sent home after it is checked. High Frequency words will
also be assessed.
We spent time
learning about fire
safety this week.

meeting place for
your family. Also,
check those smoke
detectors!
