This weekly newsletter from a kindergarten class provides updates on what the students learned in different subjects over the past week and upcoming events. In reading, the class reviewed unit five and worked on phonics skills. In math, they learned about 3D shapes and fractions of a whole. Peek at the Week:
o This week in Reading, we reviewed and tested
Unit Five.
o We focused on nouns and verbs, summarizing
and blending the short vowels with consonant
sounds we have learned.
o Students worked on how to space between words
in sentences and using an uppercase letter at the
beginning and end marks.
o In math, we worked on 3-D shapes with
toothpicks and marshmallows and discussed the
quarter.
o In Science, we continue to discuss weather and
seasonal changes.
o We also talked about building a healthy meal,
parts of the body and their function, and how to
be safe with medicines.
Coming Up:
o Next week in Reading, we will be
beginning our last unit. Students will
start using the consonant sound of /h/.
o We will focus on cause and effect and
our new high frequency words “with,
play”.
o Students will practice printing the upper
and lowercase Hh correctly.
o In math, we will be working on addition
and subtraction.
o Students will begin discussing natural
resources and how we use them.

Reminders
o The weather is warming up and we go
outside often. Please have your child wear
safe sneaker type shoes for playground
running and a light jacket or sweatshirt.
o Our class is running low on napkins. If you
can send any in, it would be appreciated.
o We now have gym, so wear or bring sneakers.
o Please review the PC Dress Code. With warm
weather approaching, students may need
reminders.
Rest Time
Items are being sent home for washing.
Please return on Monday.
Egg Hunt
Please send in any appropriately filled
eggs to school by Thursday!
