Peek at the Week:
o The students identified beginning and ending sounds.
o We introduced the high frequencywords “a, it, on”.
We now should be able to read seven words!They
are the, a, it, on,see,look,I!
o We practiced matching a lowercase letter with a
capital letter. Our focus this week were the letters Ll
through Zz.
o We identified and practiced writing ourfirst names.
o We used illustrations to understand a story.
o In Math, the students found patterns all around them,
practiced oral counting, identified numbers,counted
objects using one-to-one correspondence.
o This week in Science,we continued learning about
plants. We learned plants can be identified by their
parts.
o Students practiced using pictures in books to help
them understand whatthe story is about.
Coming Up:
o In reading we will be working on the
letter Nn and the sound it makes at
the beginning and end ofwords.. We
will review sequence events,
recognize green,orange,and purple,
and also learn the high frequency
words my, can.in, we.
o We will practice writing the letter Nn.
o The students will be practicing writing
numbers,also.
o In science,we will recognize that
there are different types of plants.
o In math, we will recognize teen
numbers,sequence numbers 10-19,
estimate the numberofobjects in a
collection, and use pictures to
representand solve addition and
subtraction stories.

o On Tuesday, Sept. 27th, we return to phys ed. Please
wear or bring your sneakers.
o Begin to practice and cut out the quarter 1 words with
your child that were sent home.
