Peek at the Week:
o The students are working hard to identify rhyming
words. This is fun to do at home,too. Some words
can be real words and others can be nonsense.
o We introduced the high frequencywords “a, the”. We
nowshould be able to find these words in text. We
do cheers to spellsome words!
o We practiced matching a lowercase letter with a
capital letter. Our focus this week were the letters Ll
through Zz.
o We identified and practiced writing ourfirst names.
o We used illustrations to understand a story.
o In Math, the students are almostdone with Unit One.

and return the nextday.
o This week in Science,we continued learning about
plants. We learned plants can be identified by their
parts.
o Students practiced using pictures in books to help
them understand whatthe story is about.
Coming Up:
o In reading we will be working on the
letter Nn and the sound it makes at
the beginning and end ofwords.. We
will review sequence events,
recognize green,orange,and purple,
and also learn the high frequency
words my, can.in, we.
o We will practice writing the letter Nn.
o The students will be practicing writing
numbers,also.
o In science,we will recognize that
there are different types of plants.
o In math, we will be reviewing Unit
One and testing. Unit Two will begin,
covering howto compare sets of
numbers 0-5.

o Library Books - Please return them by Tuesday!
o Our last day of gym will be Monday, September 25th.
o Begin to practice and cut out the quarter 1 words with your
child that were sent home.
o Remember to return the white Friday folder on Monday.
