Article Evaluation
1. For my Article I decided to be a little bit more
unique than what you would normally see in a
typical magazine. By using this layout I thought that
it would make my magazine look more interesting
and it would catch my target audiences attention
more than what a typical layout of an article would.
I kept the same type of colour scheme as I liked
the look of it and I didn’t want to use the green that
I had previously used on my contents page and
my front cover as I felt that it would clash with the
colours that my models were wearing. Like the
style model I decided to use different pictures.
However, instead of taking eight different ones like
the style model I only used two as due to there
being three people in the band it would be harder
to fit them all into the space that I had to fill.
2. Instead of having the title down the bottom of the
page I decided to change it so it was through the
middle of the band as I had no room to place it in
the corner and I thought it drew attention to the
article more. I used a faded black box behind the
writing to make it stand out against the band as
the colours they were wearing clashed with the
colour of the writing.
Like the pictures taken in the style model I
wanted my pictures to look quirky and as if the
band were having fun taking the pictures. I think
this look contributes to the image I wanted to give
my band which was the rebellious look with the
contrast of the nice personalities.
I positioned the columns like the style models, which
at some parts I found quite difficult as I had to take
some questions out of my originally written piece. I
feel that because the columns look smaller it appeals
to my target audience more as some teens tend not
to want to read things that are lengthy, they prefer
things that tend not to waffle on. However, I think
that the article I have written gives the audience
plenty information on the band itself.
I wanted my band to be young and new to the music
industry so that they would have a slight connection
to my target audience due to them being younger.
By making a band who are from a small town who
are extremely humble about their work it makes
readers respect the band more.
